3rd Person POV

The person who was once (y/n) (y/l/n), a hero to the republic, is now merely a broken, soulless shell of the woman she used to be. Her beautiful face used to be enough to fill hope and joy into the hearts of the citizens of the galaxy.

But now, the sheer mention of her name causes them to tremble at their knees. Her mechanical breathing struck terror into the hearts of those who were unfortunate enough to hear it. She was now only a dark plague that cursed the galaxy; death and destruction were all that followed closely behind her like a shadow.

(y/n) was near non-existent. Only a small light of her remains, and that's partially because of her love for her former Padawan, who is now her trusted inquisitor. Despite him joining her in the dark side, the platonic love they have for each other still kept a small part of who they used to be, alive.

A full Sith holds no love or attachments, they're not supposed to at least, but both refuse to let go of each other.

Another reason, is because her love for Anakin Skywalker was still adjacent to her heart, but it was buried deep down so profoundly, that she is completely unaware that it still exists.

She only feels the pain and heart ache that he left behind that day; she is reminded of it every time she hears the sound of her own breathing, or when she catches the image of the scar he left her on a reflective surface.

Thanks to the manipulation and the lies implanted in her mind by Sidious; she believes that he abandoned her, that he no longer loved her.

She doesn't know that he fought for her, that he didn't abandon her, or that he still loves her and misses her every day.

(y/n) has been nothing but a trapped pawn in the Emperors twisted game for the past year. Deep down she is waiting to be set free from the lies that hold the real her as a prisoner; blanketed over by the shadow of the dark side.

But Sidious has his claws in her so deep, and has manipulated her mind so well; she is nearly past the point of saving.

"I-I'm sorry my Lady," Director Krennic kept his gaze down and only saw the image of her heavy boots walking around him. He failed her too many times in his search for Anakin Skywalker, it was his assigned job to bring him to her alive. But Anakin and the rest of his little group slipped through his fingers time and time again over the course of a year.

She was tired of his apologies, tired of his failures. She stood behind him and placed a hand on his shoulder. He stiffened from her deathly touch, a cold shiver went through his spine as he prepared for his imminent end, "You disappoint me Director Krennic." Her voice was not what it used to be, the mask that filters the air she breathes deepens it. It was still feminine, but it sounded inhuman, unemotional, and cold; much like her deathly golden eyes.

"My lady please forgive me, I promise you I will find him. I just need more time," He begged for her to spare him. He's been close countless times, but Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Ahsoka have always been one step ahead of him, "Give me one more chance, I swear I will not fail you again."

She had her hilt pressed up against his back, ready to ignite it and end his small life. That's what others were to her now, small, unimportant, and easily disposable.

She contemplated on giving him another chance, she normally wouldn't. But Krennic is the only person she has that she believes is even remotely capable of fulfilling her wish.

He listened to her horrific breathing in fear, waiting with anxiety coursing through his veins for her to make her choice.

He then breathed out a deep sigh of relief when he felt her remove the hilt from his back, "You're lucky I'm feeling generous today Director," She slowly walked around him again; stopping when she stood in front of him.

He cowered from her intimidating glare, but he did his best not to show it, he wanted to look confident in front of her,"Thank you-"

She held her hand up and began force choking him, the sound of his struggled breathing echoed in the room, "Don't mistake this for kindness, you have one last chance." She squeezed tighter; causing him to fall to his knees as his watery eyes looked into her amber ones, silently pleading for her to let him go, "You will take Sin with you this time. Should you fail me again, he will kill you on the spot; consider him your motivation." She finally let go and he coughed instantly as he tried to regain his lost oxygen.

I have to take her annoying ginger with me? Great.

"I will not fail you Lady Lilith," He choked out as he stood up to get back on his feet. Oblivious to the fact that she heard his thoughts as clear as day, and she was not happy.

She hid her disdain and walked past him without giving him another glance, "I should hope not Director," She paused while standing in the doorway with her back to him, "For your sake."

She walked down the space station hallways with one place in mind. Her breathing was beginning to become difficult, and there was only one person she trusted that knew the mechanisms of her mask better than herself.

She walked up to his door and knocked, his door is the only one she even bothered to knock at. Everyone else's she opens without a second thought or warning, and that's because it's her station and she doesn't feel the need to.

The door slid open mere seconds later to reveal the only person in the galaxy that she believes didn't abandon her, "Can you hear it?" She asked Cal without giving him a proper greeting.

He listened to her breathing for a moment and heard a faint wheeze with every inhale, prompting him to nod, "I do and does this also mean you forgive me?" He smiled with a raised brow.

She rolled her golden eyes in annoyance, "Fine yes, but if you ever sneak a bogling onto this station again, I'll cook it."

He chuckled as he moved to the side to let her into his room. She walked in to sit at her usual chair next to his work desk, "You have to admit, it was kind of cute." He sat at a chair across from her while pulling out an oxygen tank with a clear mask.

"It wasn't cute when it hid my boots in the vents Cal." She groaned while taking off her mask completely and setting it down on the desk in his arms reach.

He laughed at her annoyance while handing her the oxygen mask connected to the tank, "Here."

She eyed it for a moment before shaking her head, "I just want to not wear something for a few minutes." She inhaled and exhaled deeply, her lungs burned and it caused her mild pain, but she felt free. That mask felt like a prison to her.

A prison given to her by someone she thought loved her.

Cal nodded nervously before setting it down on the desk in front of her, "Okay, but if it becomes too much-"

"I know." She cut him off as she leaned back and watched him work on the heavy mask.

"It looks like you damaged the structure that operates the filter when we were on Dathomir." Cal opened a small part of the mask and pulled out a cracked piece with tweezers, "I told you not to take on all those Rancor's at once. You're lucky I always keep spare parts." He smiled at his Master and for a moment, he took in seeing her without the mask on. It reminded him of the old days, when he used to see her smile. Now she walks around like an cold robot, only spewing hatred and anger.

But he doesn't understand that that's what she needs to be. She may seem emotionless, but really, she's just holding it all in so she didn't crack, and lose the last bit of humanity she has left.

Anytime she allows any emotion besides anger and hatred to surface, she feels her heart break. The negative emotions of the dark side are the only things that keep the pain at bay.

"You're too good to me." She reached down to grab the oxygen mask and placed it over her mouth to take in the pure oxygen. The pain in her lungs had started to become too much as it usually did if she had her mask off for too long. The unfiltered air was like toxins to her already damaged lungs.

Someone has to be. Cal thought to himself as he glanced away from her and back to the mask in his hand to finish his work.

Ignoring his thoughts, she spoke,"You'll be going with Krennic on his search for them." She informed him and he paused for a moment, knowing who he'd have to see if he did have to go with him.

He cleared his throat as he adjusted himself in his seat and pushed all thoughts of his old love away from his mind, "Why?" He questioned her, since he is in fact the only person who can without getting choked to death, or stab, or maimed.. whatever she's in the mood for.

She sighed as she removed the oxygen mask to feel free again, "You are his motivation." She tapped her fingers along the desk in a row on repeat, "If he fails again, kill him." She stopped her tapping as her golden eyes glared into Cal's.

He nodded, not having a problem with her request, "And if he succeeds?" He asked while the corner of his lips tugged into a smile, "Should I get him a cake?" He joked, hoping to get a reaction out of her, but he wasn't lucky today.

"You'll kill him anyway." She shrugged before bringing the oxygen mask back up to her mouth and taking a long inhale. No one can insult Cal and live, whether it was said out loud or not.

He closed up her mask securely and held it out for her to take, "Your wish is my command Master."

She removed the oxygen mask and sighed before putting herself back into her prison, "Thank you for helping me." She stood up from the chair to leave, "You will be leaving tomorrow."

She looked away from him and began to walk out of the room, but she paused when she felt his sadness.

She turned her head to the side to meet his amber eyes that mimicked her own, "You know I love you right?" She asked in a monotone.

He nodded slowly, although he sometimes had a hard time believing it due to her constant coldness.

And they don't see each other as much as he would like to, she was always busy and sometimes requested for him not be around.

He doesn't know that she does that for his own good. When she requests for him to stay away, it's usually because the Emperor is around. She didn't want him to see what the Emperor does to her, and she definitely didn't want the same torturous fate for him.

"I know Master." He sighed, wishing she wouldn't leave, he usually felt lonely after she did. He didn't like or talk to anyone else on the station besides her.

"I don't think you do." She turned back around and walked over to him until she towered over his figure while he still sat in the chair, "I apologize that I'm not good at showing it, but I would do anything for you."

He blinked away a few tears, this was the first time since their transition that she's spoken like this to him, "I'd do anything for you too."

And she knows this, he stayed with her when everyone else walked away.

She removed her mask and wheezed on her first inhale, but she pushed past the pain and bent down to kiss his forehead like a mother would kiss her child, "I love you Cal." She spoke in her real voice, she didn't want the words to be tainted by the inhuman sound of her mask.

"I love you too."

She then stood back and put her mask back on, "Don't leave tomorrow without saying goodbye to me." She turned away from him and left his room. Leaving him alone once again, while he still wished for her to stay.
