Not even one of the Howard sisters came back home for the night that day, after the fight and all of the boys getting grounded by Katherine and George. And of course, they already knew about Jackie's and Alex's relationship and the drama going on between him and Cole.
The two girls slept at Grace's, both of them getting a phone call out of nowhere but deciding to not pick up their phones. What would Isaac say anyway? And Jackie felt the same way about Cole.
Except, little did they know, it was about something completely different.
They found out about Nathan's passing out by the table, while the rest was fighting, of course, but also about going to the hospital because of his condition. He was coming back today but it still wasn't good news.
Cole and Isaac both called the girls because of this, and they never felt this stupid for not picking up for obvious reasons. Instead, Alex told them all in the lark coffee next morning, Aoife then watching him and Jackie talk things out and finally fix their relationship. Which was quite fishy since the bonfire, and now, another fight in school.
In that moment Aoife wished she and Isaac could also just . . talk things out. But was there any sense in that even? He already told her what he wanted to say, but maybe they could just talk, even if it meant to just end this situation, being able to avoid all the awkwardness?
Well, it would be definitely weird to see eachother in the house and school constantly, but maybe she could get used to it?
She couldn't help but think about all of this, him, even more lately.
"Aoife?"
Now what. Is she actually going crazy and starting to talk to herself out of this madness?
"Hello, Aoife?"
Oh, right. It's just Jacob.
The brunette blinked a few times and fixated her gaze on the boy sitting in front of her, reminding her of the fact that they were sitting in the local park and eating icecream they grabbed on their way.
Aoife fixed her grey long sleeved top and her straight hair, pulling out a few strands of her face and finally smiled at him. The two became friends lately, hanging out sometimes for food or to just talk, but . . Aoife still felt awkward knowing that he probably wanted something more than just friendship.
She really did enjoy spending time with him, but as just friends. She wanted to keep talking sometimes casually, without the boy having hope for something that wouldn't happen.
All because of a certain person.
"Hello, Jacob." She spoke up and laughed trying to make him forget that she dozed off, again. "What were we talking about? Oh, wasn't it the new . . ."
"You're thinking about him, aren't you, Aoife?"
The girl was just taking a bite of her vanilla icecream when she widened her eyes and spitted it out in a second. "No, no, not the icecream . ." She groaned, but the boy didn't let her change the topic.
Instead, he passed her some tissues and she gladly took them.
"Don't you dare change the topic, you idiot." He said, and Aoife still didn't know if he was angry with her or not. She threw a look on his face, but he just leaned against the bench and let out a sigh. "I'm your friend, Aoife. You didn't actually think I'm this blind, right?"
The girl huffed in annoyance and turned to face him, crossing her legs on the bench. She really couldn't tell what he was thinking about all of this.
"Wilder, respectfully, shut the fuck up, please. Can you just get to the point, because I really don't know what you're thinking!"
Now, it was Jacob's time to widen his eyes at her sudden outburst. But Aoife finally said what had to be said, being ready to hear what he truly wanted to say to her about the situation. So . . . he knew about them?
"You're thinking about Isaac, aren't you? Since the bonfire, you've been dozing off and thinking a lot more than usual, and . . you know" He paused for a moment, before continuing and looking in the distance. "I thought I had a chance with you. I'm not gonna lie, when I met you and heard about you from Grace . ."
"Wait, what exactly did you hear? Because if it's something embarassing, I will kill . . ."
Jacob laughed quietly but was already used to Aoife's cutting off mid sentence.
"That won't be necessary, I didn't hear anything embarassing, but I wish I had." He ignored her death glare she sent him. "Anyways, I just thought I finally met someone similar to me . ."
"Oh, don't you dare compare us and call me similar to you . ."
"Jesus, do you ever shut up?" Jacob was on the verge of bursting out in laughter, looking at her in curiosity.
"No, I actually don't!" She smiled at him, but decided to let him finish his monologue for the first time in her life. "But okay, I'll give you the privilege to finish talking. Go on."
The Wilder boy breathed out, and shaking his head, continued.
"But then I realized that there was someone else. I admit I saw it from the beginning, even then when he bought you orange juice out of nowhere. But now I see it and I think you can both work it out, because everyone can tell you two have a thing for eachother. And you even look quite good together, especially the height difference."
Well. That was something.
Aoife was slightly taken aback at first by his speech and she was almost ready to throw a sarcastic statement, but . . didn't feel like it. She actually felt relieved hearing him say the things she wished he would.
The girl smiled and hugged him quickly, not for longer than three seconds and pulled back, laughing at his surprised expression.
"Okay, so I'm guessing it's the love that made you crazy."
"Are you quotting Taylor Swift right now?" Aoife furrowed her brows, but then understood what he actually said. Love? As in, love? "Wait, love?"
"Yes, love is in the air, Aoife. I can tell." He nodded, knowing he was getting on her nerves.
"Are you quotting another song right now or . . ."
"Jesus, Aoife. Can you just shut the fuck up for once and go to talk with your loverboy?"
"Jesus, Jacob. He's not my loverboy. And he doesn't want to talk to me, believe me. He told me that himself." The girl explained, while gesturing with her hands and sighing after finishing talking.
"And that's why he told Grace that he 'fucked up', was spying on you to find the right occasion to talk to you and was angry, when you said that there was supposedly nothing between you two?"
He was angry? He was spying? He fucked up? Aoife scoffed at the sudden information she got, trying to put it all in one. But Jacob was there to do it for her, instead.
"Basically, you didn't let him finish talking at the damn bonfire, Aoife. I'm not even surprised at this point, because . . ."
"So, what did he want to say, then?"
"Yeah, exactly what I'm talking about." The boy murmured under his breath and sighed loudly, grabbing the girl by her shoulders and shaking her to wake up. "He wanted to say that he likes you! Isn't it obvious?"

There was a home welcoming party in the house going on for Nathan, and Aoife did spend a while there. But she couldn't just sit there and have fun while she had so much going on in her head.
And she still didn't see him.
The girl was also happy to see Skylar come by and she greeted him in front of the door, giving him a little kick in the ass for good luck. He and Nathan were supposed to meet up at Monty's, but because of his accident he wasn't able to and Skylar thought he ghosted him. Now, Aoife truly wished them the best, seeing the way they look at eachother and enjoy being in eachother's presence.
She even saw them share a kiss when he walked in.
"Yes, yes, yes! Jesus, finally!" The girl whispered to herself, suddenly feeling like she was watching a teenage love story movie. But this was real life and she couldn't feel more happy seeing her friend and brother happy, together.
"Yeah, I knew that would happen soon."
"Right? Me too." Aoife answered. Wait.
She furrowed her eyebrows and looked at the boy standing next to her, who was also watching the new couple from outside. Isaac. Standing here, next to her.
The girl kept the smile on her face, not wanting to suddenly change her expression with his arrival. But the truth was, after hearing Jacob's words, she kinda wanted to smile. Maybe there was some hope, after all.
Aoife crossed her arms and sighed quietly in the silence, not even realizing it was so cold already. But she was thinking too hard right now. Was she supposed to start the conversation? But what was she supposed to say? 'Hey, I heard you like me, is it true or are we all just paranoid?'
Yeah, hell no.
A warm material suddenly landed on her shoulders, inmediately making her feel much warmer. She looked down to see the same leather jacket, she once had on her a while ago. The girl looked up at Isaac and was ready to thank him, but for the probably first time in her life, she was interrupted.
"That day, on the bonfire, I didn't mean to say what I said" He started talking, his hands in his pockets as he looked between Aoife and the surroundings. The girl could tell he was even more nervous now, than then, but she was too. Wow, that was a change. "What I meant, Aoife, was that I want to keep seeing you, well, not only seeing but you know, all the other things . ."
"Other things . . . ?" Aoife decided to play a little with him, being the teenage devil she was.
"Well, all the things we used to do but . . not hiding anymore."
There, he said it. Aoife looked at him for a few seconds before smiling at him. And he was glad to see her not sarcastic smile, but instead the one he adored even more.
"So, are you going to ask me or not?" The girl asked, watching the boy smile and tilt his head. "Oh, I think you already know the question."
Suddenly Aoife realized she was trapped. She realized that only when her back touched the wall and Isaac was standing in front of her, with no escape to be found. But did she actually wanted to escape this time?
Aoife returned the smile which actually never left her face and continued talking. "Well, I want to hear it from you, can I?"
Isaac let out a heavy breath, before leaning closer to the girl, and when he was exactly next to her ear, he whispered. "Did you know there's still a blonde strand in your hair?"
Aoife bursted out in laughter, pushing the boy away from her, but before she was able to run away, he kept her in place. "I hate you!"
"No, you love me." Isaac answered her and leaned in closer again, but this time he had a more serious expression. "So . . is it a yes?"
Aoife laughed shortly but still managed to respond.
"Yeah, it is."
And there they were, kissing eachother after such a long time full of completely unnecessary drama. And the world felt at peace again.
"Okay, so we have three couples now, I guess!" Skylar announced looking out the window, letting the rest of the teenagers know, before seeing any surprises.
Lee was the first to look away after a literal second, with a face full of disgust. "Now I'm really the only single one left."
"It's really not that bad, you know." Danny tried to cheer him up but clearly didn't really success.
