013, BYE-BYE, BABY

  THE WEEK IN GREECE had flown by extremely quickly and before they knew it, the teenagers were back in Boston. Avery sat in the driver's seat of her car, wiping her teary eyes. She was leaving for Yale the next morning. Yes, you heard me - she said yes to Yale!

Although, this move meant she wouldn't see her friends or family for a while. Avery Valentine had excused herself from the get-together that was currently happening in her living room. A funny feeling suddenly struck her and she became overwhelmed with the thought that she would never get moments like these every day anymore.

A quiet knock at her window startles the girl. She looks to her left to see a frowning Anabell Carter. Avery sighs, knowing she can't lie to her best friend.

"Avery!" Anabell whines, hating to see the girl like this.

Avery softly opens the car door, stepping out of the still vehicle. Her body is immediately engulfed in Anabell's tight grasp. The two girls broke down in the warmth of each other's arms, giggling through their tears.

"I'm gonna miss you so much, Vee," Anabell hiccups, her bottom lip quivering.

The Valentine girl choked out a sob at the other girl. "Bells!" it was Avery's time to whine in sadness. "You are my favourite person ever. I cannot imagine living without you. Or Soph for that matter!"

The two girls embraced in silence, with the occasional sob or giggle.

"I love you, Vee."

"I love you, Bells!"

A cough behind the pair was heard, both girls stretching their necks to see who it was, too lazy to leave their comforting hug.

"Dylan!" Avery mopes, watching as the boy's eyes glaze over.

Dylan Alcaraz chuckled, opening his arms for both girls. "Fuck you, Vee. I never cry! You've broken my no-crying streak!"

The three laugh together, not caring how mushy they are. "I'm going to miss you both so awfully bad. I can't believe they're making me leave so soon!"

Dylan and Anabell only hum in response with frowns prominent on their faces.

After a few more minutes of comfortable silence, the three friends make their way back inside. Nick, Jess and Matt were pushing and shoving each other on the couch, trying to beat each other in Mario Kart. Meanwhile, Chris and baby Sophie were on FaceTime with Nathan - who was currently in Spain.

The pink afternoon sky soon faded into darkness and the stars were shining for the moon. The seven teenagers were huddled together in the living room laughing loudly at Chris's horrid attempt of gaslighting.

A monopoly board was spread across the coffee table and cards were scattered along the rug.

"I LITERALLY BOUGHT IT!" Chris argues with Matt, attempting to convince Matt that he had bought the property he just landed on - only because it was a $80 payment to the owner.

Matt scrunches his nose up in fake anger. "You're the worst liar ever, Chris!"

"I agree with Matt!"

"Fuck you all." Chris huffs as he folds his arms like a child. "Soph, you're the only real one here," he complains, turning to the toddler on the couch.

Sophie giggles as she clings to the boy's neck. "No!"

Anabell gasps in amusement at her daughter's words. "Get fucked, Chris!" She exclaims, whispering the cuss word.

Christopher grumbles, tickling the toddler that now sits on his legs.

Morning rolled around and tears were the only thing Avery knew at this moment. She clings to her older sister, professing her gratefulness for Zara over the past five years. Next, she turned to Dylan and Anabell, no words needed to be spoken, the three just sobbed in a group hug. Then she waddles towards Jess Romano and gives him a tight squeeze and a kiss on the cheek.

"Thanks for never checking my fake ID," she jokes to the boy. Jess had known since the day he served the girl at the bar that she most definitely was not older than eighteen. To be fair, who was he to judge? He was a nineteen-year-old working in his dad's bar.

Avery makes her way through the triplet brothers, one by one. Finally, she finds herself standing in front of Chris.

"Hey..."

"Hi," she smiles softly. Avery wraps her arms around the boy's neck, pulling him down and closer to her. Her face rests on his chest and soon enough Chris's arms drape around her waist.

The boy subtly kisses her hair as he hugs her tight. "Don't die from your big brain! I'll miss you, Aves."

Avery chokes out a small laugh through her sobs. "I'll try my best, C. I'll miss you too."

And with that, Avery Valentine climbs into her car and starts the engine. She wipes her eyes one more time and turns up the stereo.

Loud goodbye's can be heard even through the blasting voice of Taylor Swift. Avery keeps her eyes on the road but waves out of her rolled-down window.

Before she knows it, she's off. Three hour roadtrip to Conneticuit? Alone, as well? Say less!
