005, LOVERS CAVE

"SATURDAY 29TH JUNE, 2020.
journal entry 207:

Today the triplets, Alahna, Nathan and I went on a hike to a popular spot called Lovers Cave. Apparently, heaps of people go there for smoke sessions but we just went because Nick felt like being 'one with nature' today. His words, not mine!

Nate, Matt, Nick and Chris were mucking around (nothing new) and Alahna and I were catching up with each other. It felt really good to talk to another girl for once, sharing thoughts with boys is never really helpful, so being able to relate with Alahna through so many things really made me feel more refreshed.

When we were thirty minutes away from the cave Nick started complaining about having sore feet and literally made me and Chris take turns giving him a piggyback. It was hard walking up hills with an extra body on my back but we pulled through. Once we got to the cave, Nick obviously made everyone take photos (they turned out really cute!) and then we were finally able to go inside.

Nick and Matt claimed that they made a pair list before leaving so that everyone was in a pair as we walked through the 'massive' cave. Guess who I got stuck with? Christopher, yay! It wasn't that bad, minus the fact that the boys kept burping or yelling to hear it echo through the cave.

There was one point when Chris and I were slightly ahead of the group so we stopped to look at the rocks, they weren't super interesting until Chris gasped and held up a pink crystal-looking rock. When I walked over he was dusting it with the sleeve of his hoodie, I leaned in to get a close look and it was freaking rose quartz! Nick thought we were the next Power Rangers — we weren't :(.

Anyways, as we continued walking, Chris would not give me the rose quartz, which sucked. Except when we got to the end of the cave we found more colorful rocks, some seemed like crystals and others were just painted by the potheads that smoke in the cave. Though none of the other crystals could really beat Chris's rose quartz, in my opinion.

Chris and I stayed back at the end of the cave for five minutes while the other four went out to set up our picnic, we found some cool stones but only took three each — we didn't want to disrespect the cave. As we were walking out, Chris stopped me (I nearly shit myself). He handed me the rose quartz, which I thought was a fake, but it wasn't.

"It's for you. From me," is what I remember him saying. I thought it was cute, he was super flustered and had this goofy, shy smile plastered across his face. We walked out of the cave holding hands too!!

We had our picnic, thanks to Alahna's mom who packed us delicious snacks. After we ate, we all played frisbee but that only lasted for fifteen minutes, thanks to Nate who purposely shot it up into the tree and was shocked when it got stuck. It was very funny.

For a while we just chilled on the grass and talked for an hour, Chris then wanted to go back into the cave to 'find more crystals' and dragged me with him. We paused at the spot he had found the rose quartz and began looking around. Chris called me over to examine what kind of rock he had just found, I had to break him the sad news that it was just a regular speckled rock. He nearly cried.

We continued to look for some more crystals but had awful luck. We were too lazy to walk to the end of the cave and only stayed in the middle, which is probably why we found almost nothing. I did find (what we think is) an amethyst rock. It was so pretty so I decided to hand it to Chris, in return for his stunning find. When he came closer to have a look at the crystal in the palm of my hand, I took a second to look up and boy, were our faces close! I swear my heart skipped a beat, it just did again because I thought about it!

Anyway, Chris noticed I was staring and he moved his head to be parallel with mine and before we knew it... I can't say it! It's embarrassing to even write about, let alone talk about. Okay, brace yourself, journal. We kissed! Ahh, I told you it was bad!!

I seriously have no clue how it even happened, I blinked for ONE SECOND and Chris just (BAM) kissed me! I'm not complaining, I guess it was nice to have someone I know so well to be my first kiss rather than some weirdo that I don't know.

Even more exciting, he compared us to Sky and Sophie from Mamma Mia?! I am so AHHHHH.

Oh, I have to go! Zara's calling me downstairs! I'll write more later. Thanks for listening, even though you don't have ears.

Avery Valentine frowned as she shut her journal and placed it on the floor beside her. She was currently seated on the floor at the bottom of her bed, things with Elliot didn't go exactly how the girl had fantasized. He only wanted to get into her pants. He didn't get to, though.

Sunflower petals had been neatly placed over her bedsheets to spell out 'SORRY' and Avery couldn't help but tear up at the thought. She quickly took a photo, to later on put in her scrapbook, and then began picking the petals off of her sheets one by one.

Avery felt like she may have been hurting Chris's feelings by not really taking in the full effect of his planned apology but she really, really just needed to drown out the world and watch her favorite rom-com movies.

She flicked on her purple LED lights and grabbed her computer off of her nightstand. Finally, some peace and quiet. Wrong!

"What the shit," Avery cursed as her phone began to blow up beside her.

She squinted her eyes at the brightness of the device and logged into the app where the majority of notifications were coming from. Instagram. So many notifications on Instagram is never that good unless you have just posted some really cool photos, and Avery hadn't.

Avery Jane felt her heart fall to her stomach at the post she was being tagged in. Roughly five thousand tags in it so far. She knew she didn't exactly have a right to be upset, but she was.

She sighed to herself, swiping through the three photos and feeling even worse when she read the caption. This mother fucker.

"Am I... Olivia Rodrigo?"
