━ chap 1. beginning !
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
ON AN APRIL MORNING, two middle school kids run on the sidewalk pavement in musutafu, japan. their hands were interlocked with each other so as to not lose each other in the crowd.
cherry petals brush against their cheeks as they run together, signifying the blossoms to be in full bloom. its soft pink color decorated the blue sky like a painting.
"i-izuku!" a now older [y/n] fushiguro laughs as she is dragged by her best friend. "slow down!"
an older izuku midoriya turns over his shoulder to look at his friend, smiling brightly. "we can't miss it, [y/n]!"
the girl can't help but roll her jade-green eyes, finding her best friend's fanboy self to be amusing. but never really minded it either way.
years have passed since they were kids, things have changed and some things have stayed the same.
the two approach a large crowd, clambering against no entry barrier. they weave through it trying to get to the front, midoriya couldn't contain his excitement.
once the two reached the front, the smiles that bore on their faces grew even brighter than before.
but one thing that hasn't changed...
a large human-like monster goes on a rampage, screaming and causing damage on the street. roads were blocked and precautions were put in place.
"look! it's kamui woods!" someone shouts and points, causing gasps and cheers, as someone arrives on the scene.
the two middle schoolers turned bright-eyed like any kid would at something like this.
...were the presence of heroes.

IT ALL BEGAN in keikei city in china, where a newborn baby was born with bioluminescence covering their body.
after that, "exceptional" individuals began popping up all over the world. the cause of this was unclear at the time and still is to this day, but as time passed the "exceptional" was the new norm.
FANTASY BECAME A REALITY!
at present, 80% of the world's population consists of superhumans with special abilities. the world was driven into chaos.
and a profession that everyone once only dreamed about entered the spotlight!

"GET AWAYYYY!" THE villain shouts as heroes try and detain, while bystanders look on from a safe distance.
"it's kamui woods! the popular young superstar!" midoriya cheers happily, rampaging through his bag to grab something.
while [y/n] tilts her head a bit, curious. "did he debut recently? i can't remember."
then, someone laughs beside them, causing them to look at who it was. it was an old man who had antennas sticking out of his head.
"you two kids fans of heroes?" he asks, arms crossed and hearty smile.
the black haired girl wasn't afraid to answer, "i am, but i'm not as big of a fan as he is." she gestures to her childhood friend.
at her words, the green-haired boy could only squirm in embarrassment, nodding shyly himself.
soon, their attention is grabbed again as kamui wood prepares his special attack. "your punishment!" he yells, in a heroic pose.
midoriya can't help but be excited, shaking [y/n]'s arm in the process. "[n/n], here it comes! it's his preemptive binding!"
the girl wasn't even bothered by him shaking her arm, she just laughed a little and paid close attention to the fight. so she can fully understand and talk to him about it later.
"...LACQUERED CHAIN PRISON!" kamui woods shouts, shooting out his wood-like skin towards the villain.
before the hero could even trap them, someone very giant comes in and kicks the villain away, shocking everyone in the vicinity.
suddenly crowds of paparazzi arrive at the scene, snapping as many pictures of the other person as they could.
"today's my debut!" the giant woman announces as she restrains the villain. "please to meet you! you can call me mt. lady!"
along with the exceptional abilities came an explosion in crime rate. while nations struggled to overhaul their legal system, brave individuals took up the mantle of heroes!
it was like straight out of comic books, people protecting civilians from evildoers! with public support, some quickly acquired the right to serve as heroes in an official capacity.
and depending on their performance they have the potential to earn...
GOVERNMENT PAY! FAME AND GLORY!
it was safe to say that the career of a hero was an enticing one to all who heard it.
while the large crowd dissipated slowly, midoriya and [y/n] stayed behind. the boy muttering and writing something down in his notebook.
"wait, think about it izu." [y/n] adds, quietly, "she could manipulate her size at will or only a certain height she can grow to."
midoriya nods, taking that into account. "you're right [n/n], but doesn't eliminate the possibility if she can't."
the man who stood next to them laughed again, helping himself to admire these daydreaming kids. somehow he had faith in them.
"you two kids taking notes! want to be heroes too?" he questions making the two perk up.
hearing the idea of becoming a hero themselves, miodriya can't help but smile brightly at the man. while [y/n] admired her best friends optimism.
"yes, we do!"

THE ANNOYING SCHOOL bell rings, signifying the start of class at aldera junior high.
[y/n] sits by her lonesome back of the class by the window, not caring to pay attention. while midoriya sits somewhere in the middle of the classroom, occupying his time by writing in his beloved hero notebook.
"you guys are third years now!" their teacher states at the front of the class, shaking papers in his hand. "it's time to start thinking seriously about your futures!"
the class stays silent, letting him talk. "i would hand out these future career forums, but..." he trails and tosses the papers aside, "why bother, i know you all want to go to the hero track!"
in hearing this, the kids don't hesitate to show off their quirks while loudly cheering. with the expectation of three students.
"yes, you all have wonderful quirks!" the teacher expresses dramatically, "but you all know it's against the rules to use them during school hours."
before the teacher can get to the main part of the discussion, a very loud and explosive student interrupts him.
"sensei! don't lump me in with these losers!" katsuki bakugo sneers with a smirk, feet on his desk. "as if i had anything like their crappy quirks!"
because of his obnoxious bloating and arrogance, other students retaliated against him. shouting a variety of insults to lower his ego.
"shut up! extras should act like extras!" he yells, making most of the class back down a bit.
"ah bakugo, you, of course, must be aiming for u.a high school." the teacher mentions, looking at a clipboard. "along with fushiguro."
the ashy-blond could roll his eyes to the back of his head in hearing the familiar name. all heads turn to the girl in the back of the class who sat quietly with her usual neutral expression.
"you mean fushiguro is going to be a hero?" a student whispers to someone, "isn't she some delinquent punk?"
"got a problem with me being a hero?" she asks, raising a brow, unamused. immediately, the student shuts up and sulks in their seat.
bakugo scoffs at her attitude, "you think you can be a hero? dream on, witch."
the emphasis in the sentence made [y/n] narrow her eyes, she knew exactly what he was poking fun at. he wanted her to get riled up.
"i'm not gonna sit here and trade insults with you like we're 10 again. because first of all, we're not ten, and second of all, i would win." she says, leaning her face against the palm of her hand, smirking a bit.
the boy groans, knowing she just completely diffused the situation entirely. she always made that so easy, especially when they were young.
with a clear of his throat, the teacher gains the class's attention. "with the grades you both have, u.a will be a great fit for both of you."
the ebony haired girl only gives a curt nod to her teacher and just goes back to not paying attention to whatever's happening around her.
'is dad coming back from his mission today?' she wonders absentmindedly.
meanwhile, the class chatters away of hard it is to get into u.a high as it is one of the top hero schools in japan.
"seriously? they're going for national school?" one mumbles with disbelief.
another look between the high-achieving students." that place only has a 2% acceptance rate!"
"it's impossible to get into!"
jumping on his desk, bakugo begins a declaration. "i aced the mock exams, there's no way u.a will reject me!"
[y/n] can't help but roll her eyes and mutter, "he does this every time..."
"i'll even surpass the likes of all might and become the best hero out there!" he continues, smiling widely. "and not to mention i'll be one of the richest people in the world!"
"you're also going for u.a, aren't you midoriya?"
at their teacher's words, everyone slowly turns to the green-haired boy who was trying to hide himself but failing miserably. then, laughter shook the classroom scaring the poor boy.
"huh?! midoriya?! no way!"
"good grades alone won't get you into the hero course!"
midoriya stands up in his seat, trying to defend himself. "th-that's not necessarily true! sure there's no precedent but..."
"come on deku!" bakugo shouts, angrily jumping towards the boy, creating a blast on his desk and sending him stumbling to the floor.
"forget the crappy quirks, you're totally quirkless!" he insults, poking a jab at his biggest insecurity. "you think you can rub shoulders with me?!"
the green-haired boy waves his arms frantically. "no! no! wait no, kacchan!"
the ash-blonde boy drew near and near making the other be back up to the wall, with nowhere to escape.
"i wasn't saying i could compete with you! not at all! i mean it!" midoriya expresses, hoping not to escalate the situation.
his body shakes in nervousness and fear as he keeps speaking. "it's just been my dream since i was little. and well..."
he grows quiet for a moment and he looks up at his friend with a shaky smile, hope sparking in his eyes.
"...there's no harm in trying."
bakugo laughs in his face, small explosions popping in his hands. he wasn't believing a single thing he was hearing.
before he gets another word in, a hand grabs his shoulder tightly. preventing the ashy-blonde from taking another step forward.
"choose your next actions carefully, katsuki." [y/n]'s voice warns, her voice showing no hint of bluffs.
his sharp ruby eyes meet her jade green ones, holding a quiet anger. there were times in their youth when she would get mad at him, but it was never like this.
but that was the new normal between them as of late. they were no longer the naive children they used to be.
"alright, enough you two! fushiguro, bakugo back in your seats!" their teacher yells at them, tired that he let the scene become like this.
the two glare at each other for another moment before bakugo clicks his tongue, walking back to his desk.
calming down a bit, [y/n] turns to midoriya, holding out her hand to him to help. "ignore what he said, in my eyes, you'll be a great hero izu."
the green-haired boy's heart softens at his friend's words and doesn't hesitate to reach for her hand.
"thanks [n/n]."

THE SCHOOL DAY had already ended for today, [y/n] walked back to her classroom as she had to take an important call from her uncle.
ignoring his spam texting, she pockets her phone in her skirt, "uncle toru needs to stop before i get in trouble."
as she nears the classroom, the familiar voices of midoriya and bakugo pick up in her ears. quickly, [y/n] hides from the open door and takes a peek.
she sees bakugo and his 'friends' surround midoriya, his hand on his shoulder and along with the wicked smile the ash-blonde boy has on his face makes the girl sick to her stomach.
the girl turns to look away, her expression saddened as she remembered the time when the boy wasn't even this bad.
'just what made him change so much?' the dark haired girl thinks, fists tightening at her sides. 'it can't be because he believes he has some amazing quirk?'
[y/n] then hears footsteps nearing her before they stop completely. in the corner of her eye, she could see bakugo stop and turn to look at midoriya.
"if you wanna be a hero that badly, there actually might be another way." he mentions and one could feel the smirk forming on his lips.
"just pray that you'll be born with a quirk in your next life, then take a swan dive off the roof of the building."
[y/n]'s eyes widened at his words and her breathing hitched, this wasn't the boy she once knew. albeit, he may be a bit too egotistical but she knew he wouldn't dare take things too far.
but he proved her wrong.
despite that, deep down, she still cared for this explosive boy just as she did with midoriya. now, she doesn't know what to think.
as soon he stepped a foot out the door, the girl grabbed him by the collar and shoved him against the wall. bakugo didn't even have time to process the whole thing until he was face to face with [y/n].
"where do you get off on saying those things, huh? katsuki!" she growls at him, eyes turning to a glare. "he looks up to you, you know that?"
the boy doesn't even look at her. "where do you get off bossing me around, witch?"
the dark haired girl scoffs, a disbelief expression painting her face. she didn't believe it, he couldn't have changed this much, could he?
"when will you realize that if you keep on looking down on everyone, you won't notice your own weaknesses." [y/n] spats, shoving him against the wall again.
at her words, bakugo can't help but bite his lip, eyebrows furrowed. ultimately, he shoves her away. "whatever, we're not little kids anymore."
the girl doesn't do anything, she only watches him walk away from her down the hallway. along with his so-called friends.
'that... stupid idiot!' she grits her teeth, a bitter look appearing on her face.
shaking this sense of sadness away, [y/n] turns to look into the classroom for midoriya only to find he isn't even there.
worried, she looks around and sees the boy already walking in the other direction of the corridor. she reaches out to call to him but she never does.
[y/n] only watches as his weak and scared figure grows smaller and smaller. she wondered if there was anything she could do for him, but at the moment, she really couldn't think of anything.
'i should leave him alone...' she concludes, walking inside the classroom to get her stuff.

THE GIRL WANDERED around the streets of musutafu with no real destination in mind. she had already texted midoriya, asking where he was and the only response she got was...
izuuuu 🍀
i'll be fine [n/n], i just need some space.
she sighs, putting her phone back in her pocket. 'if he needs his space then it's fine...'
the girl can't help to scrunch up her pretty face in worry, it's not unusual for [y/n] to dote on the green-haired boy. outside of family, midoriya, and bakugo are all she has.
suddenly, she stops in her tracks. her heightened senses feel an alien-like presence nearby, not even trying to hide itself in the shadows.
like it was beckoning her.
turning to look to the left, she stands in front of the entrance of an alleyway. her green eyes darken and narrow, not hesitating to enter.
[y/n]'s demeanor turns deathly serious, mirroring her father's in situations like these. it was a direct contrast to the usual approachable manner she has.
"it's at least a 4th grade, that's not bad." she mumbles, walking deeper into the empty and trashy alleyway.
the girl's ears pick up a gargle of sounds around the corner. hiding her presence, she turns to the corner and she sees grotesque monsters lingering around metal garbage bins.
'i miscalculated, the curses are at least 3rd grade.' she muses, observing the surroundings, noting the blood coming from the dumpster. 'and by the looks of it, someone might have already died...'
then, her pretty hands begin to form a hand-weaved shadow puppet resembling that of a dog. doing so, the shadows around her bend into a liquid and dark substance.
"demon dogs..."

NATIONALLY, THE AVERAGE number of unexplained deaths and missing persons reports exceeds 10,000 annually.
the majority are the results of negative energy that flows out of people, from that comes the manifestation of a curse spirit. places where crowds gather, like schools or hospitals, are susceptible to receiving that energy.
these curse spirits have been around for as long as thousands of years.
to protect humanity, the real exceptional individuals known as jujutsu sorcerers rose to the challenge, existing just as long as curses have.
as a result of the ongoing conflict between sorcerers and curses, existing sorcerers created a secret society to work in the shadows to suppress curses to protect humanity.
the two cornerstones of this society are the jujutsu tech bases that are located in tokyo and kyoto, hidden from the outside world.
and in the modern era, four big sorcerer families and the jujutsu higher-ups control the landscape of the jujutsu community.
[y/n] fushiguro is part of this society and one of the families that rule over it, an heiress.
to fight curses, you must fight with curses. this is exactly the power she has, curse energy. a negative energy that she can bend and use at will.
someone with a quirk can't encounter curses or even see them. it's only possible if they are under a veil as it reveals all.
and for the quirkless, unless they have direct contact with curse energy or have been in a real-life death situation, they aren't able to see curses.
quirks and curse energy do not mix, that is what separates these two societies as a whole.
the work of a jujutsu sorcerer isn't a life for everyone.
you must detach yourself from ever having a good and normal life. be able to handle the grotesque monsters that are curses, live without regrets and compassion isn't always an option.
but, [y/n] had an option. yet, she chooses the path of being both a hero and a jujutsu sorcerer.

[Y/N] WIPES THE curse blood off her cheek as her shikigami dogs eat the grade 3 curses.
"to think some curses would be hiding around here." she mumbles, rubbing the back of her neck. "i'll have to report it back to uncle toru."
she glances at her wolves who have curse blood surrounding their mouths as they eat, and it makes her giggle and smile. bending down, she runs her hand through their fur. "aren't you such good boys, huh?"
deeming that the curse has been exorcised, [y/n] calls back her shikigami and leaves the alleyway. it was still well into the afternoon, so she had to make sure she didn't look too suspicious.
pulling out her phone as she blends in with the walking crowd, she calls her uncle, waiting for him to pick up. a moment later, she hears the familiar voice of her relative.
"[y/n]-chan! how's my wonderful niece!"
the young heiress can't help but smile a little. "hey, uncle toru. i'm doing fine, i just wanted to report something to you."
"my niece was doing sorcerer work? how exciting!"
[y/n] could practically feel the annoying smile he had on his face. though he can be a bit overbearing at times, he was her biggest supporter.
"yeah," she replies, nearing a crowd lingering at an entrance of a shopping district. "it was back in an alleyway, i'll send you the location since there was a dead body."
hearing this, her uncle was silent for a moment. "[y/n], your father has talked about this. what was the grade?"
'damnit, maybe i shouldn't have mentioned that...' she bites her lip, glancing around as she stops by the crowd.
"i handled it fine uncle toru—"
"you know you aren't officially licensed and since you aren't in a hero school yet, the commission could report this." he cuts in, though his voice was stern it held worry.
at the mention of the hero commission, [y/n]'s mood turned bitter and she bit back a scowl. 'why should we listen to what they say?' she huffed, her brows furrowed.
but after a moment the young heiress sighs dejectedly and her expression becomes tiresome. she rubs the back of her neck out of habit.
"yeah, i know, uncle toru..." she glances to her left but does a double take at what she sees, hoping she was mistaken.
instantly, the noises of destruction and yelling register in her ears. down the shopping district was a slime/sludge villain reeking havoc, they held someone hostage while someone else ran to help.
"i have to call you back." she says, hanging up as she moves up to be in the front crowd, pushing others.
'no way, it can't be!'
her eyes were set on the sights of the two familiar figures in the middle of havoc.
she laid her hands on the no-entry barrier and leaned over, her breath was caught in her throat and her green eyes were wide. she saw who exactly was in the middle of it all.
'izuku! katsuki!' [y/n]'s face contorted in horror, seeing the two boys that matter the most to her on the verge of death.
looking around, she sees if any heroes would help them. but, shockingly, none of them moved an inch to help. they were too stunned and helpless.
the girl grits her teeth, hands tightening on the barrier. she sees midoriya doing everything he can to help bakugo but he can only do so much.
she has to do something.
as the heroes who were trying to keep the crowd, someone took the chance to slip past them and run. it was already too late when they noticed.
"HEY! KID, ITS DANGEROUS!"
a hero yells in panic, catching the attention of others. yelling and orders to turn grew louder back, but she ignored them.
running as fast as she could, [y/n] runs through the debris and fire. with only a single goal in mind, saving her two favorite people.
"BOYS! I'M HERE!" she shouts desperately, grabbing their attention.
midoriya's eyes were filled with tears while bakugo was thrashing around in slime that had him restrained.
"[N/N]?!" the green-haired boy cries, his voice cracking as she nears him.
the girl skids to a halt and weaves a familiar hand puppet sign, "DEMON DOGS!"
once again, the shadows under her feet turn into a dark liquid substance forming her shikigami dogs. her green eyes turn to sharp glare at the villain who noticed her presence.
"another brat?!" he laughs, growing larger before he begins suffocating the ashy-blonde boy he had captured.
she growls at his action, anger rising within her. heroes couldn't stop this and save her best friends, then she'd do it herself.
"STAY AWAY FROM MY BOYS YOU BASTARD!
DEMON DOGS, GO ON AND FEAST!"
the shikigami follows her order and begins attacking the sludge villain while [y/n] starts to help midoriya with freeing bakugo.
"[n-n/n], what are you doing here?!" the green-haired boy questioned, staring at her in disbelief.
the dark haired girl grunts as tries to ride off the slime. "what does it look like, izuku?! did you think i was gonna stand by and watch!?"
midoriya doesn't say anything but lets tears slip out of his eyes but doesn't hesitate to accept her help. and so, the two try their best to free bakugo from the villain.
"you idiots!" he rasps out, able to talk now. "what do you think you're doing!"
[y/n] gives the boy a pointed look, clawing away some slime and throwing it to the side. "again! what does it look like!?"
when she goes to rid more of the slime, the sludge villain begins to surround her instead. "DAMNIT!" she shrieks, fear striking her body as she's sucked in.
"[n/n]!" midoriya panics, grabbing her hand that was still free, trying to pull her away. but it was too much, the sludge invaded her body and her shikigami were released.
tears pool down the green-haired boy's cheeks, his only two best friends were about to die and it would be his fault. but he wasn't giving up just yet.
"I-I'LL SAVE YOU TWO!"
midoriya claws his way through the slime, but it only grows and grows. it seems the villain wanted him as his next target.
but before all is completely lost, a gentle hand is laid on top of his head. "izuku, you don't need to fight anymore." says a very familiar voice making his breath hitch.
a series of yells and cheers are heard from the crowd, as a very prominent figure arrives on the field.

the usual fun persona of satoru gojo was not present at the moment. instead, he was cold and angry, anyone nearby could feel the fury inside of him.
"consider this your only warning." he mummers and with the snap of his fingers, bakugo and [y/n] were released the holding of the sludge villain, making him scream.
the kids fell to the ground and coughed violently, gasping for air. then, gojo made sure they were protected by his curse energy before he called upon a friend.
"all might!" he shouts, a cocky smile forming, "your turn!"
suddenly, the no.1 hero of japan, all might, jumps from the air and grabs the sludge villains with his bare hand. "i should practice what i preach!"
he lifts his other hand and punches the villainess with a detroit smash. the pressure from his punch causes a change in weather, making it rain.
people began to cheer for him as gojo checked on the kids who lay on the ground. then he crouches down, inspecting his niece, frowning.
"uncle toru..." [y/n] mumbles out, meeting his gaze before weakly smiling. "you're here."
his hand grazes her face gently before scoffing and grinning a bit. "of course i'm here [y/n]-chan."

AFTERWARDS, THE HEROES collected the villain's scattered body and managed to get him into custody safely.
midoriya was scolded heavily by other heroes for running to save bakugo so recklessly. he didn't say much and only nodded in understanding.
bakugo and [y/n] on the other hand we're praised for their quirks and bravery. both didn't take it very kindly and also said nothing.
gojo shooed other pro heroes away as he approached the two. the girl didn't meet his eyes until she felt a pat on her head.
"i'm glad your safe, [y/n]." he mumbles, the tone of worry laced in his voice.
looking up at her uncle, [y/n] smiles a bit before the man turns to the boy. "you too, katsuki."
he only rolled his eyes and huffed something under his breath. then, midoriya walked over to them and gojo didn't hesitate to pat his head as well.
"you'd make a great hero too, izuku." he states making the green-haired boy's eyes sparkle, "though it was worrying to know you ran in so thoughtless."
he nods frantically, heeding his words and making the man laugh a little. turning back to [y/n], he motions his head, forward.
"lets take you home."

GOJO DROPS OFF his niece at her house before leaving promptly.
the fushiguro estate lay around the outskirts of musutafu, very much isolated from other families. the land itself is very large along with the house, the building in traditional japanese architecture.
though it's an estate meant to house a large family, only three members of the fushiguro clan live there. the rest, either gone from the face of the earth or dead.
and it's been like that for a very long while.
[y/n] enters her home, taking off her sneakers and she notes the familiar pair of shoes that belong to her father. her face brightens knowing he has returned home.
quickly, the girl roams to the section of the estate she and her family inhabit. as she grows closer, a voice stops her in her tracks.
"[y/n] fushiguro!" the voice of her beautiful mother shouts, stomping towards her. "just what were you thinking?!"*
the dark haired girl's face turns fearful hearing a pitch perfect mandarin. quickly, she turns around and waves her arms around comically. "wait, māma! i had a good reason!"
her mother, mei fushiguro, bonks her only daughter on her head. "good reason my ass! if satoru wasn't there to save you, you could have seriously gotten hurt!"
as mei scolds her, she starts smushing [y/n]'s cute face and pinches her cheeks as punishment for making her worry so much.
"māma! that hurts!" [y/n] whines, comical tears pricking her eyes.
the dark haired woman huffs angrily, "it's supposed to!"

AFTER A GOOD scolding from her mother, [y/n] changes to more comfortable clothing and goes to find her father.
the girl can't help but rub her cheeks as they were a bit red from her mother pinching them. 'māma is still strong as ever.'
then, [y/n] ears pick up someone using the training ground of her home and her face brightens a small bit. there's a skip to her step when she turns the corner of the open hallway.
"bàba!" she exclaims, running up to the tall and dark-haired man.
her father, megumi fushiguro, stops practicing his martial arts warm-ups and turns to see his cute daughter running to him.
he smiles softly, opening his arms for her to run into and she does. he grunts a bit from the force but still holds his daughter tightly.
"missed you and your mother." he mumbles, kissing the crown of her head before she pulls away, grinning brightly.
"if you miss us that much. you should stay home more often, bàba." [y/n] retorts back in mandarin causing him deadpan.
"don't be mean to your father." he huffs back in the same language causing a laugh to slip past the girl's lips
then, megumi crouches down to her height, holding her pretty face in his rough and warm hands. "i heard what happened, are you okay?"
the girl's eyes widened for a moment before she gave him a calm smile. "i am, don't worry. i'm stronger than you think."
'that's what worries me...'
"i also heard the report from gojo." he mentions, his hands leaving her face and now, it was [y/n]'s turn to deadpan.
she grumbles under her breath about her uncle being an evil traitor as megumi continues to look at his daughter, just thinking.
he remembered the times when she used to be just a little thing, nothing more than an idea at first. an heir to his name, to his family.
but he was graced with something else, something so precious, priceless, and lovable.
"you okay, bàba?" [y/n] asks, tilting her head a bit. being brought out of his thoughts, megumi just smiles.
he shakes his head, getting up from crouching, "it's nothing, nothing you need to worry about."
the young heiress looks at her father curiously but ignores it. then, mei called from the house yelling that dinner was ready.
with a motion of his head, "c'mon, your mother made you favorite." megumi says, making his daughter's darling jade green jewel eyes sparkle.
"wait seriously!" she exclaims, turning and running ahead. "māma you made kung pao?!"
the dark-haired man watches her run off, excitedly but with a bittersweet expression on his face. he couldn't help it, at times like these, he was so unsure.
'i'm scared, father.'
he walks in the same direction as his daughter, feeling the warm golden sunset hues hit back. 'i wonder if this what you felt like. so unsure on how to protect what you love the most.'
he enters the dining room, mei already setting the table for tonight's dinner with the help of [y/n]. he gives his wife a light kiss on the cheek and a small thank you. she only rolls her eyes amusingly, telling him to sit down.
they all sit together, giving thanks before they dig into the delicious food. their laughter begins to fill the room with their warmth.
for a second, megumi stares at his lovely daughter before patting her head. she gazes up at him confused, pondering the action.
'i'm scared. i'm scared i'll lead her down a path that she won't return from.'
"tell me, [y/n]." he says, retracting his hand. "do you really want to be a sorcerer and a hero?"
it's silent after he speaks, mei doesn't say anything nor give an input. this was her daughter's choice, not her's. all she can do is support the child she loves so dearly.
and without missing a beat, [y/n] gives her reply. her jade green eyes were lit with a determination that megumi found nostalgic.
"yeah, i do, bàba." she says, a smile forming. "it's what i want to do."
megumi doesn't say anything and holds her face once more, he realizes he can only do what a parent must do. support their child and their dreams.
even if he's scared of it.
"alright, if that's what really want. i'll support you." he expresses, his face softening.
a light in [y/n] shines, before turning to her mother with a smile. she only nods in approval, giggling a bit.
"c'mon you two, before the food gets cold." mei warns, taking a bite as they get back to eating again.
'i'm scared father. but at the same time, i have faith.'

THE NIGHT CREEPS in, the stillness of it gives ambiance. in a special room in the estate, [y/n] kneels in front of an elaborate shrine.
her hands in prayer position and eyes closed, giving her respects to her late grandfather. it was a ritual she did every night.
she opens her eyes, a sad smile forming before she begins to speak. "yieyie, i'll be applying to u.a high soon."
she doesn't say anything as if she was leaving room for him to speak. pretending as if he was still with her.
"i'm a bit nervous." she mumbles, hands tightening in her lap. "but i'm not gonna let that stop me. i'm going to become a great hero just like you, yieyie."
her bright green eyes laid upon the framed pictures of her grandfather, his scarred smile feeling a bit nostalgic. "i'll make you proud, i promise." [y/n] says, her own smile painting her pretty lips.
after paying her respects one more time, the young heiress gets up from the floor and leaves the room. she slides the door closed, quietly.
with a deep breath, she retires for the night and begins to walk back to her room.
the wood slightly creaks under her bare feet as she wanders her home's open hallways. the moonlight being her only source of light.
suddenly, a lone butterfly flies in front of her face startling her a bit, though she calms her heart down. the butterfly flaps around her and then lands on her nose.
[y/n] can't help but feel the tears in her eyes, knowing exactly who it might be. "thank you, yieyie." she mumbles, wipes the tears away.
after a moment, she watches it fly away again and she follows it. she sees it flap into the sky under the moonlight and sparkling stars.
