ERWIN WAS RIDING ALONG AS Ymir spotted him. "This is all your fault! It's you who screwed up my entire plan, you damn commander!" She thought as she ran over to attack the Titan that was following Erwin, knocking him off his horse due to the impact.

"Ymir!" Historia shouted as she was holding onto Connie's waist. "Connie, that way!"

"I know!" Connie exclaimed.

"Commander!"

"I can always be replaced. More importantly, find Eren and retreat! Time is of the essence!" Erwin said as a Titan grabbed onto the soldiers head.

Meanwhile, the Titan was coming closer to Josiah and Eren as Josiah looked at Eren with concern.

"Eren!" Josiah shouted, shoving him back. The Titan went to head for the two males until Hannes came in on time and stopped it.

"Hannes!" Eren exclaimed.

"What are the odds of this?! Check it out, you two! You just watch. I'm about to avenge your mother and butcher the shit out of this!" Hannes exclaimed as he attached his gear to the Smiling Titan.

"That's the Titan that devoured Eren's mother?" Josiah questioned in his head.

"Hannes!"

Armin and Jean were riding their horses toward them. "Give the old man backup!" Jean shouted out.

Two Titans landed in front of Armin and Jean.

"Reiner? What's he doing?!" Armin questioned. "Does he not care if Eren is eaten?!"

"Don't get in our way, you big sack piece of shit!" Jean exclaimed as the two of them headed towards the Titans.

"Ymir!" Historia shouted once more.

"Dammit... What am I supposed to do? If I can't count on Reiner, should I cooperate with the Scouts and try to survive?" Ymir thinks to herself before following Historia, Connie, and Sasha.

"But what happens after that? Even if I can somehow live through all this... there's no avoiding the hell that's to come trapped inside the walls. Now's my only chance to hand Historia over to their side! I won't be able to protect her alone, no matter how hard I try."

Historia used her gear to attach herself onto Ymir's forehead.

"Christa!" Connie called out.

"Connie, that's wrong. My name is Historia." Historia told him before turning to Ymir. "Hey, Ymir... Why was it you were trying to take me away? You said you wanted to save yourself, but was that a lie? No... it has to be. Why? Why did you do it?"

Ymir didn't give a response. "For me? To protect me again?" Historia asked.

"It's a Titan!" Connie exclaimed.

"Ymir... You're the one who said it, so listen to yourself! Stop living for other people! From now on, let's live for nobody but ourselves! It's strange, really... When I'm with you, no matter how screwed up it gets... I'm not afraid!" Historia informed as she used her gear to fly up with Connie and Sasha following her lead.

"Shit!" Connie said.

Hannes was fighting the Smiling Titan as Josiah stood up and took out his blade. "Don't, 'Siah! You're injured!" Eren informed. "Untie my hands!"

"Hands?" Josiah questioned as he looked over to see that his hands were tied.

"Hurry up! I've gotta be the one to do it!" Eren shouted.

"Who said I was done with you?!" Hannes shouted as Josiah untied Eren's hands.

"That one's... mine!" Eren exclaimed before he rushed forward.

"Eren!" Josiah shouted. "Wait! We're trying to get out of here!"

"It's time to settle the score! Just watch!" Eren said as he bit into his hand, but nothing happened. Another Titan crashed down.

"Commander! The Armored one is — It's coming!"

"Jean!" Armin shouted as a Titan crashed in front of Jean, making him get knocked back.

"Jean!" Armin shouted as he got off his horse and rushed towards him. "Are you okay?! Hold it together!"

Hannes continued attacking the Smiling Titan. Eren kept biting into his hand as nothing happened.

"What's wrong?!"

"Eren!"

Armin was holding onto Jean as he pointed his blade at the Titan.

A soldier slashed the nape of the Titan before it headed for Erwin as another soldier was being devoured nearby.

Hannes slashed the ankle of the Smiling Titan as it fell to its knees. That's when the Smiling Titan grabbed onto him as Eren and Josiah could only watch in shock while Eren bit into his hand again.

"Right now... I've gotta become a Titan... or it's all for nothing!"

The Smiling Titan bit into Hannes as Eren dropped onto the ground and started to sob as Hannes was getting devoured.

"Eren..." Josiah mumbled.

"Nothing changed! You haven't changed one bit, dammit! You're still as useless as you ever were! Nothing changed!" Eren scolded himself as he continued sobbing while Josiah watched.

"Mom... I... can't... I still... can't do anything at all."

"Eren..." Josiah began as the two looked at each other. "That's not true."

"Eren... Listen... I need to tell you something." Josiah began. "Growing up, I had no idea where the hell I came from. My deadbeat father is off to god knows where. My mother and my childhood friends are dead. I was alone in this cruel world, and I hated it. But meeting you... was probably the best thing that ever happened to me. Man, that sounds pathetic saying that out loud."

Eren then stood up. "It's not pathetic, 'Siah. And I promise... You won't have to be alone anymore." He said as he clenched his fist and screamed, punching his fist into the Smiling Titans.

A zap of electricity went through Reiner, Bertholdt, and Ymir.

A Titan headed towards the Smiling Titan as Eren screamed again and more Titans headed towards the Smiling Titan and began devouring it while everyone stood in shock.

Eren was carrying Josiah on his back as they were running away.

"Why... are they...?" Josiah trailed off. "They're eating it?"

"Dunno what's going on, but now's our chance!" Connie informed.

"Let's hurry and run!" Sasha added on.

"Right!"

"So that's how it is... That's why Reiner was so desperate for Eren. Which means, even inside the walls... there's a future." Ymir thinks to herself.

Reiner was running towards Eren who was still carrying Josiah.

"This is the worst... Why did the Coordinate have to fall into the hands of the worst person imaginable? We've gotta get it back... I can say... without a doubt... the one person in the world I wouldn't want to have it... Eren... is you!" Reiner thought.

Eren stopped in his tracks. "Get away from me!" He demanded as another zap of electricity went through Reiner and Bertholdt. "You bastards! I'll kill you all!"

The Titans moved away from the Smiling Titan and headed towards Reiner. "Not good! Bertholdt! I can't protect Bertholdt like this!" Reiner noted.

"What? The Titans?" Eren mumbled.

"Eren!" Armin shouted as he was riding along with Jean on his back. "Get on!"

"Armin!" Eren exclaimed.

"Hurry!" Armin said.

"Don't let this chance escape! Full retreat!" Erwin ordered as all of the soldiers retreated.

Ymir then stopped and turned. "Ymir!" Historia shouted.

"Hey, ugly! What are you doing?! We're heading back!" Connie exclaimed.

Ymir turned to look at Historia before tapping onto her head. "I sorry..." Ymir's Titan spoke as she turned back.

"Ymir! Where are you going?!" Historia called out.

"Leave her!" Connie said.

"But Ymir is—"

Ymir then headed for the Titans that were attacking Reiner and Bertholdt as Connie and Historia looked back.

The Scouts were riding along as it was almost night. "In that moment, I couldn't understand the motivation behind Ymir's actions... but the Armored Titan didn't pursue us any further." Armin thought.

With reports declaring the possibility that Wall Rose has been breached, the citizens of Wall Rose were forced to take refuge in an underground city within Wall Sina.

However, with more than half the population surviving off food stockpiled for emergency, rations would last at most for a week. Any longer than that, and people would turn on each other, stealing and killing to survive.

To stop this from happening, within one week from the initial outset, authorities declared that Wall Rose was secure.

Josiah was with Eren, Armin, Jean, and Mikasa were outside. "I was taken away... and because of that, the Scouts lost more than half their veteran soldiers. Just to rescue me..." Eren stated.

"Still, there were no casualties on our way back. The Titans completely ignored us and ran off to chase Reiner and the others. About that, Jean and I sat down to try and figure it out. We have an idea what made the Titans act that way. It was you." Armin informed as Eren widened his eyes.

"Of course, that's just our theory. But without assuming that, there's just no explaining what happened." Jean spoke up. "It's a tough spot to be in, Eren. Whether or not all those people died for nothing... it all depends on you. If you're worth the price they paid, you better show it. We don't have time to waste."

Eren looked at his hand. "Yeah, you're absolutely right." He clenched his fist. "I've gotta do this. I'll control the Titans. I'll plug up Wall Maria. I'll capture Reiner and make him pay. That's what I've gotta do to atone for all those lives lost."

Eren and Josiah were left alone as Josiah stared at him. "So, was all the things you said before just a spur of the moment thing or?" Eren began.

"Sheesh, Titan boy. You really are dense."

"Hey!"

Josiah cornered Eren into a wall and connected their lips together. "Does that answer your question?" Josiah asked.

"Does this mean we're dating now?" Eren questioned.

"I guess it does."

Later, everyone was in their Scout uniforms as they were looking out towards the wall as the wind blew.

Somewhere on top of the wall, stood the Beast Titan, with its holder outside of it.

"Not yet, eh?"
