061| life is complicated
he couldn't breath the mask that rested along his skin made him uncomfortable. The thickness of it made air limited, he savored every second of it. He tasted the water that hit the cloth every second.
His wrists burned and he couldn't feel his feet anymore, he let out a shaky breath as the chains dug into his flesh. His body dangling as he heaved for air, he screamed out when the knife slid across his chest.
He pushed his head back as he cursed to himself, one and two and three and fuck! He pinched his eyes shut starting over. One and two and three and four and breath and five and six and.... He screamed out feeling the warmth of his own blood running down his body. The mask was pulled off his head, he coughed as his eyes blinked rapidly.
Corey screamed out when the blades wrapped around his finger. He inhaled so sharply he was sure he would pass out at any second, he lost track of the days. He felt so numb when the metal snapped down, clawing away at his flesh and skin, he felt his bone crack.
Felt the skin rip itself apart as his finger slipped off and fell to the ground beneath him. "Ah Motherfucker!" he tugged at the chains blood gushing out of his finger as the killer picked it off the ground.
He saw the ring on it. The same one Sidney put on him the day they got married "if you hurt her, I swear to god..." he inhaled sharply as the killer put the mask back over his face. "Nighty night Corey" he jumped when the door was slammed shut, and once again he was greeted by darkness.
—
"Oh it's his alright, I recognize that ring anywhere" Kirby clicked the button, the camera flashing as it took a photo of the finger on the ground. "Victim is unknown, Jane Doe as of this moment. But this finger was left here on purpose, killer wants us to know he has Corey, they're taunting us at this rate". Kirby stood upwards pushing her hair back slightly as she looked at Samatha and Tara.
"Normally I don't let anyone near crime scenes, but seeing this fucker is messing with us... only seems fair you two are here". She sighed slightly, her nights rough and full of no sleep. So much for a clean slate of no more ghostface cases, but this one mattered.
"Why is the killer only leaving behind... Corey's fingers? I mean first it was the teeth, and then the hair for some weird reason, and now a finger? I mean not to sound like a bitch, but what about Sidney? Why not carve her up too?".
Kirby chuckled slightly "I doubt Corey's letting this asshole mess with Sidney, we all know he'd die first before he let someone touch her, unless they're waiting, we obviously know they're not targeting us this time, Corey and Sidney went missing six months ago, still no sign of them".
She looked at the woman's body on the ground "why start leaving clues now? Three bodies in a course of a week and each holding a piece of evidence linking Corey into all of this". Kirby looked at the finger contained inside a plastic bag, "this is fresh, must've been cut off recently, victims body is fresh as well".
Samantha looked away from the bag her gaze searching through the crowd of people that lingered. "Which means that fucker is around here somewhere" she pressed her arms against her chest sneering angrily "none of this would've happened if I hadn't just kept an eye on them, I leave for one night... one night and then they're just gone when I get back".
"Hey, it's not your fault Sam, and it's definitely not yours either Tara so you girls better stop blaming yourselves for this". Kirby frowned slightly when her eye caught sight of something shiny in the victims pocket "that's interesting".
She kneeled down reaching into the woman's pocket carefully "what is it?" Kirby pulled out a hard drive that said play me "looks like the killer wants us to watch something on this, come on we'll go to my van before back up gets here".
They all rushed towards Kirby's van, parked neatly beside the crime scene. Tara sat down beside the computer screen when Kirby put the hard drive into it. "Okay, there's one thing on this and honestly this shit better not give my computer a virus".
Kirby let out a exhale before she hit play on the video the room felt so much more tense already. Sam and Tara leaning forward as much as they could to watch.
"Greetings! My fellow survivors of ghostface! It's a shame Corey can't be with you all right now. presumably on his book tour, that never would've went well, I did him a favor by burning down that stupid book store in woodsboro. Let's face it, the fans don't care about his story! They wanna watch him suffer, and they will, I started a beautiful service that'll let them watch the Corey Becker! He has so many fans, they're all dying to meet him and all of it will be live twenty four seven!". The figure moved back slowly "I really hope you're good at your job Kirby, because Corey's life depends on it, so if I were you... I'd get to working before it's too late".
The screen turned dark making Kirby tense for a moment, she felt the air in her lungs slowly melting away as she faced the girls beside her. She saw the distress written on there expression, the way they folded into themselves like scared animals. This time felt different, it wasn't a silly little kid hidden behind a mask hoping to fetch five seconds of fame or revenge.
It was a game... Kirby flinched when the screen grew bright the distant sound of screaming bursting through the speakers. "Holy shit, that's Corey" Sam nearly flew out of her chair when she pointed at the screen.
Kirby let out a breath as she looked at the screen "only question is, where is this being filmed?".
—
Corey winced when he moved back into the wall, the coldness of it making his body tense up. "This is the stupidest place to hold someone, I feel like I'm in a fucking saw movie" He sighed deeply as he looked around the room. "John Kramer can kiss my ass".
The door was locked, of course he didn't really have the energy to forge it open. He often heard the sound of movement behind it, he would tense up whenever it happened. His entire body was on autopilot, and he couldn't sleep without feeling paranoid.
"Come on Corey, get your shit together man...." He held onto himself as he shivered "just a few more days, and this will all be over with". He let out a heavy breath as he looked at the door, the sound of footsteps echoing along his eardrums as he winced.
"Just a few more days" he pushed his head back into the wall when the door opened, the brightness of the light making his eyes shut. "Jesus! This isn't a fucking musical, enough with the bright lights".
He chuckled weakly when he was forced off the ground "what? Not a fan of musicals" he winced when he was pushed out of to room. "Alright you got me man, I hate musicals, I mean who the fuck wants to watch people singing for no reason. You look like someone who would sing for attention".
He walked down the long hallway the air cold as he rolled his eyes "I feel like Kermit the fucking frog could kidnap me and make it more exciting. This is lame as fuck. I just feel like you need some tips or something, I have plenty of time to help".
He laughed when he was thrown into another room "you've got serious angry issues, I can recommend a lovely therapist, you'd be cured in a heartbeat". He winced when he was punched, his head aching as he leaned into the wall for support.
"I could name an entire list of names of people who can punched harder then that, it would be utterly depressing because they're all dead". He wiped the blood off his face "and spoiler alert, I killed them".
He sighed deeply "not much of a chatter huh? Is someone feeling a little shy? Because I'd rather watch paint dry then watch your sorry ass". His gaze shifted from the ghostface mask to the syringe.
His lips slammed shut in a matter of seconds as his body grew tense. The figure walked with such harsh steps towards him, he couldn't help but feel small. The sting ached as he felt the needle slam into his skin, it always happened so fast.
He felt the warmth of the liquid making its way along his veins as he slid slowly down the wall. He couldn't keep his eyes open as he let out a shaky breath. With one final glance at the ghostface mask, he slipped away into the darkness, once again.

authors notes:
would you look at that, my baby Corey is finally back, of course he made his epic return in October! Spooky season is literally making me obsessed over this story all over again, so expect some updates throughout the next few days. This chapter is a little eh since it's been sitting in my drafts for months, but it's a start at the least, slowly getting back into writing again. Hopefully you enjoy this chapter for now!
