IT WAS A NORMAL HANGOUT FOR
COPRSE AND EDEN, ONLY THIS WAS
THE FIRST TIME THEY HAD HUNG
OUT IN A WHILE.

It started with them eating mozzarella sticks for breakfast/lunch, though neither of them could explain why they did. Maybe a craving? Well, they tasted good either way. Whether it was ten in the morning or at night, it was a delectable snack.

The small amount of food then caused drowsiness, as well as the early morning, so they passed out on his bed, arms and legs laced together. It wasn't their first time laying together like such, but it always gave them the utmost happiness.

After they got up, he got a call to play with friends, so he figured he'd do a last minute stream. Now knowing not to disturb him, Eden grabbed a book for an activity.

She resided on his couch, hair hanging off the edge while her legs were against the wall. Odd position, but comfortable. We Were Liars was the book she held, her nose nestled in between the thin pages.

Corpse was live, his voice occupying the background noise while his girl read in the next room. It was calming, having each other's presence and not even having to do anything. The moment felt right with each other.

Books always fascinated Eden. The scent they had about them when they were first bought, or the way they crumpled even with the best care. You could always tell the pages had been touched, even if it were from a delicate fairy.

Sometimes, after Corpse had been killed (he was playing Among Us, as per usual), he would sit by her in the living room and pretend he was reading what she was. It was a sweet gesture, and each time he did so she would greet him with a peck on the cheek.

However, after a good amount of time, she had grown hungry. She wouldn't of noticed if it weren't for the growl of her stomach interrupting the paragraph she was only halfway through.

She had been there almost three hours, but with the book, it felt much shorter. So, she got up and rummaged through his pantry, pulling out ingredients to make a smoothie.

But she had to keep in mind he was streaming if she wanted to use the loud blender. She headed into his office/streaming room and waited until he looked over. Assuming he muted since he clicked his mouse, she spoke up.

"I'm gonna make a smoothie, you want any?"

"Uh, no, I'll pass. Thank you, though."

"Sure thing, babe," she said, winking while she exited.

Now given the clear, she sped up the process and tossed the fruity ingredients into the blender and made the thick drink. She had made just the right amount for one cup, and she sipped it throughout finishing the last few chapters of her book. Only after she had cleaned the dishes, though.

It was satisfying, had always been, for her to finish a book. A refreshed sigh left her mouth and it thumped as she dropped it in her bag. Not knowing what else to think about except the exciting ending of the literature, she realized Corpse had been awfully quiet. On top of that, he hadn't been out to spare a moment with her in an even longer time.

So she sat her empty cup in the sink and barely tapped the door, walking in. Expecting something different, her eyes didn't know what to think when they were met with a shaking Corpse, leaned over in his chair, head in his hands and elbows on his knees.

Her first thought was to comfort him.

"Hey, hey, hey, you ok?" She knelt besides him, looking up to see his monitor was off.

"You stopped streaming? What-what's going on?"

Through a few ragged breaths, his chest heaving and struggling to keep tears in, he looked up to her. Her face calmed him, and her hands running through his curls helped to soothe him as well.

"Corpse..." a hesitation, "take your time. But I wanna know what happened."

He exhaled, stuttering out a sentence. "The-the chat. They um...they heard-heard you."

"Wait...what? I thought you were on mute."

"I thought-thought I was too. But the chat started like...fr-freaking out on me. I realized what happened and just end-ended the stream. I wasn't thinking right and now I'm panicking."

Her jaw hung loose, attempting to think of a response. What could she even reply with? There was no getting out of this one. God, she had even called him babe.

"Ok. Ok, listen to me. It's gonna be ok, right? I mean, you can tweet about it or something. Tell your fans to respect your privacy. If they can't accept you have people in your life, people in my position, then they aren't real fans. You can just blame ending the stream on wifi or something."

She was also a mess, because frankly, she didn't really know how social media worked all too well. All she could do was caress his arm, lightly massage his scalp, and attempt to calm him.

Although, she couldn't help but feel an immense amount of guilt overcome her. She could've—should've been more cautious. Why would she even think to call him babe in front of a stream?

"Hey, can you listen to me? Listen to my voice, ok? I...uh, I just finished my book. It had a really big plot twist towards the end, and almost made me cry. Really made me think, you know?"

Her attempt to distract him seemed to work a little bit, because his eyes stayed locked with hers and his racing pulse slowed a bit.

"It was kind of confusing because it went from talking about the girl's stories to how she was only imagining it, and it was insane. I'm thinking of getting a new book soon, you should help me pick it out. Miss Jenson misses you, anyway.

"You should've been there; she wouldn't stop talking about how we reminded her of herself and her husband. She said you looked at me the same way he looked at her. When I first moved in a year ago he had just passed away. In her mind, I feel like she thinks I was sent to keep watch over her in his place. Or maybe that's only in my mind. Either way, you should come back sometime."

By the end of her chattering, he was smiling a bit and was nearly breathing at a steady pace. It was almost as if she was whispering to him, for her voice was typically loud and firm, but now it was like a fireplace after a snow storm. It melted away his stress, even if just temporarily.

Her hands had also repositioned themselves to his face, index and thumb fingers stroking his chin and cheekbone. His eyes shut at the displace of affection, leaning into her touch. After another five or ten minutes or so of her maundering went on he came back to his reality.

"You better now?"

She waited for a nod before continuing, "I think you should tweet about it. Or something. I'm not good with being famous," she teased and suggested simultaneously, once more brightening the mood.

He even laughed a bit, typing away at his phone after he picked it up. She read over his shoulder, observing how he would type a few words, erase them, and redo it. This kept happening, but eventually, he sent out the message and shut his phone down. The situation would not get a second thought until later, and they would both make sure of it.

— real life —

Hours passed, and it was almost time for dinner. Because it was so late in the year, the sunset was early, and the windows in his apartment were no longer letting in the light of the sun. It was practically night.

Eden turned on the purple LED lights in his bedroom and turned on The Nightmare Before Christmas with the TV he had in front of his bed. His nerves had been insane the whole day, especially because she advised him to stay off Twitter for while.

"We need food," he uttered, peaking down at the girl who rested on his chest while watching the movie.

"I can go out and grab something. Whatcha thinking?" she immediately replied, leaning up to get ready to leave.

His arms pulled her back down, pulling her head back onto his navy crewneck.

"I'll get carry out. You stay put here. I was thinking Japanese food?"

Just the mention of the food made her mouth water, and she nodded. So, using some sort of food delivery source, they had food on the way in seconds. Sushi, sesame noodles, and a few other things were all they got. The movie continued on, and they nearly forgot about the meal until there was a knock on his apartment door.

He slid out from under her, socked feet walking out and back in, food in hand. Since he had a darker comforter for the winter, he didn't worry too much about staining it. Plus, they were both careful with eating on the bed.

So, sitting cross cross applesauce, they ate many assortments of take out and enjoyed the holiday movie. It was just what he needed after a stressful day, yet part of him knew he was going to come back to fans freaking out and clips of Eden's voice in the background of his stream. He had already deleted the vod, but there were always people who found the clips.

Every time she sensed him zoning out back into a pressuring mindset, she would spark a conversation to help get him out of it. Of course, she wanted to help him, but it also was because of how guilty she felt.

First the whole thing with Ryan, and now this. One mistake after another, Eden couldn't help but wonder what the next would be. Though, she made sure not to overthink it. It would only lead to paining both her and Corpse, which isn't what they wanted.

"You can check your socials in a day. But you need to escape. We both do," she said, patting his knee. Their mouths were both full of sushi.

"What do you mean escape?" he mumbled.

"We can go have an outside day tomorrow. Go on a hike, bring stuff for a picnic, completely separate from the world. No fear of being noticed, no pressure of fake fans, nothing. Just me, you, and mother nature."

The idea sounded perfect. Anyone would take it up, truthfully.

"You know, I think I like that. I'll tweet about being offline tomorrow, but I won't look at what people are saying. I'm gonna detach from it for a day or so, just in case people over react. I'd be happy to escape."

She grinned, noodles in front of her mouth and eyes twinkling at the man before her. He returned a grin—smaller, but still enchanting.

They finished the movie and she decided to sleep over, no longer staying on the couch. Tucked under his covers, a fan in the background for white noise, they cuddled up against one another; his head laying on her chest, falling asleep to her heart beat, and her fingers atop his mop of hair.
