THE MORNING WAS VIVID FOR EDEN, ESPECIALLY AFTER SPENDING THE
NIGHT AT CORPSE'S.

She slept on his couch like she had the last time, and when she woke up, he was already up. He had a waffle maker out, and was attempting to get the slightly burnt pastry out without burning himself. From the small noises he was making, it was evident he was failing.

She stretched out, comfortable in his sweatshirt that she had passed out in the night before. Eventually, she got up, grabbing her phone to check it out.

Two missed calls from Ryan. From three in the morning. How peculiar.

She ignored it, though, waving to Corpse to get his attention from the corner of his eye. He turned his head, grinning while she stood up from the couch. The blood rushed to her head, temporarily making her light headed, but she was fine just as fast.

"Good morning," he hummed, extending the syllables while she pranced over, wobbly like a fawn.

"Good morning," she echoed back.

Seeing he was still struggling with the waffle, she used her long acrylic nails to her advantage to grab it and put it on a plate.

"It was too easy." Her mockery made him smirk, while she lifted up his hand to press her lips to his knuckles. The tiny display of affection made him go as red as a cherry.

"Well I'm sorry my nails aren't fake."

"We are matching, though."

The two giggled, noticing the black finger nail polish on all of their fingers. Together, they finished the process of waffles and sat together, enjoying breakfast with a pleasant silence.

After they finished, she adjusted herself in her chair so she could lean back, head landed in his lap. Her long hair, mixed with chestnut and golden highlights, cascaded alongside his legs. The lush material of joggers was comfortable against her neck.

"You ok there?" he teased, resting one hand on the top of her head and the other on her neck.

"We're done eating, so I don't see a problem with laying in your lap. Unless you do, of course."

"You are so cliche, Eden."

"I mean, you blush, so...clearly I'm doing something right."

Once again, his episode of laughter continued. It never seemed to stop whenever she was around him.

Corpse picked up his phone, keeping one hand running through her hair and the other scrolling through his Twitter timeline, liking fan art and replying to friends. Eden closed her eyes, nearly falling asleep once again with the amount of serenity she felt. A buzzing phone on the table interrupted her, because she knew it had to be hers.

Slightly groaning, she grabbed it and put it to her ear.

"Morning," she uttered to whoever was on the other line.

"Hey girl," Ryan replied, sounding rather energized.

"Uh, hey. Is everything ok? I saw you called me a few times in the middle of the night."

"Actually, no. Are you with anyone?"

Ryan was only asking for one reason: she needed to know if Eden could be convinced into something. Persuasion was only doable if there was no one to distract the strong-willed girl.

"Yeah, I'm with...the guy I told you about. Why?"

"Could you go in a different room?"

"You're freaking me out," Eden said. She did meet the request though, going into Corpse's bedroom and sitting on his messy king bed to have more privacy.

However, Corpse was pretty concerned, so he put down his phone. It wasn't necessarily eaves dropping, just...responsibly observing for the well being of the girl he liked.

"Ok, so what's up?" Eden said, waiting for a reply.

"Do you not realize the amount of shit this dude is keeping from the public? Girl, with the amount of information of you have, you could easily be famous."

"Wait, wait, wait. You mean...hold on. Rephrase what you just said."

"Corpse. Corpse Husband. Completely viral right now, yet no one even knows his real name. Hell, the most I can find about him is his height-"

"Yes, that's because that's all he's comfortable sharing. What are you suggesting?"

"Calm down, dude. You're toning me up like I'm a villain or something. All I was gonna suggest was you come out with some sort of proof you know him and get some clout. I could be your assistant or something."

Eden scoffed. "So let me get this straight: you want me to use him for clout and expose his private information at the same time? Even though I have literally never been active on social media? Girl, you're fucking crazy."

"Eden, calm down. I've known you longer than anyone, and I know that money will always come before a quick fuck. It'll sting a bit, but people want him to do a face reveal anyway. You're just saving him time. Fans will love you."

"Jesus fuck, Ryan! You're being psycho! Are you on something right now? Do I need to pick you up from Dan's house again?"

Ryan chuckled devilishly on the other side of the phone. "Contrary to popular belief, I'm better than ever. I'm just saying you might wanna consider working smarter rather than harder."

"You definitely don't know me as well as you say if all you think I do is go around sleeping with guys for money. I did that for one month last year, and it was because my mental state was just as shitty as yours is being right now. I'm not gonna overstep boundaries and hurt someone I care about for clout. Maybe you would, but that is too low for me."

"'For you.' I know the shit you've done in the past, and this most certainly is something you'd do. Also, could you shut the fuck up about me being all crazy? I was just suggesting an idea. I'm on your team, dude." The words were hurtful, and Eden flinched as the woman finished speaking.

"Excuses are only excuses up to a point. But this whole idea thing is genuinely just something a bad person would do. I don't like this energy you've had recently. You were the reason I got overly mad at him anyway."

"Eden, I have his fucking face reveal. You better chill the fuck out-" Ryan began to hiss, but was cut off.

Certain she misheard her, Eden coughed, "I'm sorry, what did you just say?"

"I said I have his face reveal. This isn't up to you."

"Ok, so you're lying. There's no way you could have it. And Ryan, if you do have it, you better plan on permanently deleting that everywhere. Because last I recalled I'm the one who isn't afraid of confrontation, and I'm gonna be stopping by your house on the way home."

"So you've moved on to threatening me? Instead of just talking like a civilized human being, you're going to use violence?"

"Oh come on. We moved past being civilized the second you began invading privacy. If you want to talk about handling this maturely, though, I am always up for pressing charges. But seeing as you have a few years of illegal drugs on you, I don't think that'd be a good choice for you," Eden barked back, venom oozing from her mouth.

Corpse began growing anxious as he picked up a general idea on what the conversation was about.

"Charges? This is not that big of a deal. And aren't you forgetting being a fucking getaway driver for two months straight? I'm not the only one who has to worry about the cops," Ryan deadpanned, sighing.

"I was pressured into that. You know I had no choice. You, on the other hand, were literally fueling multiple people's addictions to heroine. I'm pretty sure it's obvious who's getting charged if we go to court."

"Ok, ok, you have a point. I was lying, I don't have the picture. I mean, I definitely could have it considering when we were drunk you literally gave me your phone."

Gasping at the audacity of the girl on the phone, Eden raised her voice. "Ryan! What the hell is wrong with you?! Have you learned nothing from anything I have said? This is wrong, dude. You're literally just being a bad person at this point."

"Says you."

That was Eden's breaking point. She stood up, putting the phone on speaker and raising it to her mouth so she could scream as if it was someone in front of her.

"I HAVE A FUCKING GUN. So I would suggest you refrain from saying another goddamn word to me ever again because at this point I'm tired of your bullshit. Enjoy rotting in hell."

She hung up before Ryan could say anything as a rebuttal, tossing her phone onto Corpse's comforter, strutting out the bedroom door.

He was already watching her, trying to see what she was doing.

"Was that about me? Did I do something wrong?" he questioned, eyes big as a kicked puppy.

Eden paused in front of him, and her plans to leave to rock Ryan's shit paused. His expression softened her. Her hands cupped his face.

"No, I just have a terrible choice in long term friends. Don't worry about anything, I'll make sure it's alright."

"It was about me, wasn't it?"

"So what if it was? She doesn't have anything useful, and you have loyal fans. If she pulls any shit, not only will no one notice her, but she'll also get my gun on her head," Eden stated, sitting in the chair she was in only minutes ago.

"You arent actually going to shoot her, I'm not letting that happen. Just promise nothing will get leaked. I can't handle that." His voice was imploring, tendered by her thumb dragging along his cheekbone.

"I can promise that. She doesn't have anything, and I'm dropping her. Her antics have been way fucked up recently, and I'd much rather keep our relationship than her and mine."

Though pure, raw nerves were all that was bouncing around his veins, she did know how to comfort him. She even noticed the slight shake in his hands, running cold with consternation.

"You sounded really angry. What did she even say?" he questioned, leaning forward into both of her open arms.

"She tried bringing up past dirt on me which is already one pet peeve, and it was just shit that proved she isn't a good person. AJ was right, I should've listened to them."

"Hm, don't blame yourself. Thank you for sticking up for me. It's hard for me to have battles I can't even fight, you know?"

His sentence brought her to realization. She had caused this mess. Was she only there to bring him stress? Stress he most definitely didn't need anymore of?

"Corpse...are you sure I should keep hanging out with you? I don't want stuff like this to keep happening," she asked, head down with shame.

Alarmed, he made her eyes lock with his. "What? Yeah, of course we should. You make me happy, Eden. You aren't gonna have many more bad friends, and I guess I'm fine taking that risk. I just want to keep seeing you."

She blushed, moving his hand off her chin.

"You spoil me," she teased, shoving his bicep while she stood up. Her level of fury was still calming down from how much she had gotten worked up.

"We aren't even together yet. Once we are maybe I'll get to actually spoil you."

"'Once we are...'hm."

Giddy, she couldn't help but melt when he mentioned the idea of them being together like that. Obviously she wanted it to happen, it was just something she hadn't ever gotten to really experience.

From one night stands to toxic relationships, this was her first time having this feeling. But it was certain to say she wanted it to last.

And she wanted it to be with him.
