THE PHONE ONLY RANG TWICE BEFORE
CORPSE'S VOICE GREETED HER IN A BUBBLY SWEET TONE.
"Hey, everything alright?"
Fueled by the anger Ryan had installed in her as well as "Girls in the Hood" blaring in the background, Eden immediately began starting to talk. Despite being completely drunk, she managed to stop her words from slurring too much.
"Dude, you just told me you didn't have shit to tell me. Wanna tell me why I just found out your a famous ass Youtuber who has girls all over your Twitter feed?"
He didn't answer, only beginning to breathe heavily with anxiety.
"Oh, and not only that, but you also lied about your job. Big difference between working on social media and being a goddamn influencer. You probably have girls writing fanfiction over you, for shits sake. I'm not saying that's a problem, because I'm not some jealous bitch. But I don't like being lied to."
His hands shook, unable to reply once more.
"Who's to say you aren't just like every other idiotic man? Who's to say I shouldn't just block your number right now and save my time?"
"Eden-"
"Save it."
"No, you need to listen for a second. I didn't fucking lie to you. I just met you, for God's sake, so pardon me for wanting to have some stuff to myself. I haven't even done a face reveal, and I don't like people I'm close with in real life having access to my identity. You show people that and the hate I get is unlimited. Respect that, please.
"And if you're going to pull the "Who's to say..." stunt, then who's to say you aren't just some random girl using me for fame advantage? Am I just another one of your money sources or some shit?"
Now Eden was speechless, feeling slightly guilty. Ryan and Carmen leaned against each other in the doorway, trying to listen to understand. They began making hand motions that were practically saying "end that bitch."
"Ok, what the hell?! You know me well enough to figure out that I'm not some gold digging type chick, so cut that out. And if you're gonna say you don't know me well enough, then you're denying the fact that we have some sort of deep connection. Part of you knew I wouldn't judge you, and yet you still chose to keep it from me. I don't even have social media, for shits sake; I couldn't reveal your goddamn face even if I wanted to."
He leaned his head back, attempting to steady his breathing. Corpse wasn't good at handling conflict, especially with people he cared about.
"I'll talk to you tomorrow. I'm too drunk for this bullshit. You got me riled up now, and my anger issues will take the best of me if I'm not careful."
Ending the call, she threw the device aside, and simply walked passed both of her friends in the entry way. She grabbed the whole bottle of alcohol and chugged it for a few seconds, not even caring about the burn on her throat.
Eden simply wanted to feel something other than anger.
. . .
Morning arrived, as did a massive hangover.
Carmen was the only one who stayed the night—AJ and Ryan got a ride back to one of their houses. They were both sprawled on the couch, mascara smeared and throats aching.
"Jesus, my head is pounding," Eden said, standing up. She practically fell into the kitchen, downing four ibuprofen to ensure it would be effective.
"You're telling me. I feel like my brain just got stepped on by a giant," Carmen teased, finally waking up.
"I got in a big fight with Corpse, didn't I?" Eden asked, rubbing her temples and pulling out some waffles for the toaster.
"I think so. You might wanna sort that out. Ryan got you all worked up, and I ate shit trying to dance."
Both of them chuckled, taking turns eating and washing their face in the bathroom. Once the medicine had begun kicking in, Carmen got her stuff and drove her car home, wishing Eden good luck on whatever her current crisis was.
This left the brunette alone, checking her texts from the night before.

Sorry about tonight. I got too mad.
So did you. I'm sorry for 'lying,' but I
had my reasons. Please understand
that. You mean a whole lot to me.

Choosing it'd be better to just explain herself, she clicked the call button. She put in on speaker, waiting for an answer. It almost finished ringing out, but he eventually answered.
"You woke me up," he mumbled, voice deeper than usual.
"I'm sorry. We need to talk, babe," she demanded.
"So you go from screaming at me to calling me babe? Wow. Don't know what I expected, but I'm not surprised." His laugh was sarcastic.
"I was drunk out of my fucking mind, give me a break."
"You said some hurtful shit, Eden. I had a panic attack, for Christ's sake."
Eden went silent, apologetically sighing.
"It was just for my privacy, you understand that, right? It's hard trusting people in my position. Even people like you."
"I get it. I...it was just hard at first. I get all angry when I drink, and my friends were hyping me up. If I would've actually had a fuckin' brain, this conversation wouldn't even be happening right now," she acknowledged, running a hand through her hair.
"So can you agree that if we're going to keep in touch you keep my privacy separate?"
"Of course, bubs. You're famous, that's cool. You should tell me about it sometime. I feel like a celebrity right now. Oh, but don't talk about me. I don't want my name out there. I haven't done legal shit my whole life, and if police hear my name..."
She basically heard his jaw drop over the call, but a laugh followed.
"On a real note, your voice is hot when your mad. I think you should scream like that more often, princess," he uttered, rolling over, performing his daily morning stretch.
Eden blushed, "If you think so, sure. I'll scream at you whenever you want."
He reddened too, and they both took in the comfortable silence for a moment before speaking up.
"Wanna hang out at my place while I stream? You won't be able to talk unless my mic is muted, but you'll get to see how it works," he questioned, using his shoulder to hold his phone while he stood up.
"Sure. Give me twenty minutes and I can be there."
"It'll probably be forty minutes, don't lie to me," he teased her.
She rolled her eyes. "You still love me. Bye."
"See ya, angel."
. . .
Corpse heard the knock at his apartment door, happily walking over. Eden stood there, pleated skirt and sweatshirt keeping her as stunning as always.
"You look hot. I've never seen your hair braided like that," he greeted her. She skimmed past him, dragging her finger up his arm and smirking.
"You look soft. C'mere," she instructed, pulling him in for a hug. "I'm sorry again."
"It's ok now. Now get off, I gotta go get on the voice call," he ordered. Her body parted from his.
While she turned some gentle music on from his TV, she watched his figure sit down at a large desk, a monitor lighting up in front of him with an online game.
"Hey guys," he said into the mic, then followed by lots of people greeting him.
He turned around, peaking at Eden and motioning her over. She waddled over, sitting on his thigh and putting an arm around his shoulders to steady herself.
Knowing better than to speak and expose the fact that Corpse was with a girl, she only watched, paying attention to how his hands moved across the keyboard. Once she learned the game dynamic, he muted himself.
"You play for a round as me, I'll do the talking," he said. She nodded, positioning her hands above the keys.
As he unmuted himself, he avoided laughing and saw that she got the crewmate role. This process continued for awhile, and eventually, she got imposter. She didn't do too well, but it was funny to watch the smile she would put on Corpse's face.
Sadly, he did begin playing once more. Rather than watching him play for another hour or so, she stood up and grabbed a snack. She had already been at his place for two hours.
The baby gold fish didn't exactly satisfy her needs, so she chose to return to Corpse's lap, peppering kisses from his collarbone to his temple, shivers running up his spine.
"Stop," he whispered, muting his mic temporarily.
"Am I too distracting?" she mocked, making the kisses longer and more passionate.
"I'm streaming," he hissed, even if he didn't want her to stop.
"And I'm kissing your neck. It's not a big deal, just keep going like you were." Her words sounded like a challenge, and he accepted it. An hour later, the stream was over, and a hickey or too resided on his jaw.
"I'm starving. Let's go get some food," he said, grabbing her hand up from the couch.
"We're taking my car."
"Yours is cooler anyway. Now get your shoes on, slow ass."
