⌗ Born to Randall and Claudine Hargensen in 1974,
her parents decided to finally settle on their group of
kids after 5 in total. most assumed they were just
trying to fill the void after the death of their son,
scott, when they were only just creating the big
family they'd always wanted.

when Gwen was 15, the family moved to Miami,
deciding they wanted a change of scenery.
this is where Gwen witnessed her first crime three
years later & was called to testify at the trial.
thus creating her love for law.

when she was 28, she had finally completed law
school and passed her bar exam, officially being
an ada. she was assigned a a case that involved
a murder, where she met Dexter, having to take his
statements in reference to the blood spatter patterns.

after the case was closed, dexter was the first
to make a move on her, asking her out for drinks.
when she declined due to not drinking, he persisted
and offered a dinner instead. she accepted & they
began dating shortly after.

in dexter 'new blood', 'Riley' is working at a
bookstore as it's only employee & the owners
were unable to pay more than one person.
Riley had become loyal to the shop, despite
the low pay, and the elderly owners had
grown to love her, treating her like a daughter
they never had. after the owners passed away,
they left her the bookstore in their will, and she
was the new owner.
