blake originally wanted to abort the baby
but beth asked if she could be her surrogate and allow her
to adopt the baby instead, blake agreed & gave birth to
sawyer dean wheeler on october 19th, 2011 (six years before the first episode is set) although it wasn't revealed to many people until season 3 when she found out that rip murdered
joel.
⌗ Kayce knew he had no say-so in her decisions
but he fully supported her throughout the pregnancy
& ended up building a small house for the pair to live
in on the ranch.
⌗ kayce was so excited when blake told him she
was pregnant (in the first season) & she ended up giving
birth to their sons, owen james dutton & tate alexander dutton,

⌗ born to unwed teen parents on the alden family ranch
in montana. her paternal family pretty much
forced aaron to be a father to blake, Glenn wasn't happy
but he accepted the role of grandfather pretty fast &
made sure his granddaughter was well taken care of.

as blake grew older, her mother never stuck around,
becoming a 'drunken whore' in hugh's words, lainey
only came around for money or to have a place to stay
for a night. aaron put his foot down and refused to allow
lainey to come around anymore, out of fear for his
daughter to get her hopes up that her mother would be
in her life and then disappear the next day like she had
for the past 7 years.

when blake was fifteen, her mother died of liver failure,
a complication of being a drunk. her funeral
arrangements were left up to blake & she gave her
mother a cremation funeral & spread her ashes outside
of the bar she used to frequent the most.

at fourteen years old, blake met joel for the very first
time, they grew really close and thus began the long
seven year relationship. it was fine, everything was
normal at first, he was kind to her and always treated
her well, until one day when his father bought them a
plot of land with a starter house on it, joel became more
violent, seemingly out of the blue, she endured his
abuse for three years until he finally threatened her life
with a gun, she ran to the duttons' farm, knowing the
reputation they had for protecting people.
beating on the door, beth was the first to answer,
she could see joel making his way up to the house
not too far behind blake, she dragged blake inside
and ran to get rip. the men saw the state blake was in,
face and t-shirt covered in blood and her body covered
in bruises, they let beth clean blake up while they took
care of joel, until blake was in the bathroom, she had
a clear vantage point to be able to see where joel was
being beaten by rip and kayce beyond recognition.

a mere three weeks later, blake discovers she's pregnant
with joel's baby, kayce and beth discuss her options,
both supportive in whatever she decided on,
then beth proposed an idea, with her being unable
to carry a pregnancy of her own, she asked blake
if she would be willing to carry the pregnancy to term
& adopt the baby out to her and rip, blake agreed,
wanting beth to have the live she deserves, but they
all agreed to never tell sawyer he wasn't beth and rip's
biological son unless he asked when he was old enough.

blake later finds out that rip and john had actually shot
joel & buried him somewhere on the neighboring
ranch's property without anyone knowing & she was
distraught but forgave them for it.
