Chapter - 28

Taehyung's frustration grew as he tried to call Y/N again, his impatience beginning to show. He paced back and forth by the library counter, anxiously waiting for her to answer the call.

"The person you are trying to call is currently switched off. Please try ag..." the automated message confirmed that Sooya's phone was switched off.

"Hyung, her phone is switched off. Where could she have gone?" Taehyung asked, frustration lacing his voice as he paced restlessly around the library counter, his mind ra mind racing with worry and questions about her whereabouts.

"Calm down, Tae," Jin reassured, placing a comforting hand on Taehyung's shoulder.

"We can search for her. She must be somewhere nearby," Eunwoo added, his voice filled with determination as the rest of the group nodded in agreement.

Jaemin stood before Y/N, his captive, a look of desperation and anger in his eyes. "All she wanted was a good job, to take care of me and our mother," he said, his voice trembling with emotion. "But they took her away from me."

Y/N could see the pain and hurt in Jaemin's eyes as he spoke, and she could feel the tension in the air between them. "Now, tell me," Jaemin continued, his voice filled with rage. "Do they deserve to live?"

"As you know everything now, stay away." Jaemin's words cut through the tense atmosphere, his voice cold and unforgiving as he warned. "I will leave you after my work is done," he declared, his tone leaving no room for argument. "Try to do something funny, I will kill you."

"Oh, and your boyfriend kept calling you. At last I switched it off." Y/N felt a chill run down her spine as Jaemin mentioned her boyfriend, the thought of Taehyung trying to reach her only to have his calls unanswered filled her with dread.

As Jaemin left, Y/N's eyes scanned the room frantically, searching for any object that could help her escape. Her heart pounded in her chest as she noticed shattered glass pieces scattered on the floor. With a surge of adrenaline, she braced herself and began to shake the chair she was tied to, causing it to topple over.

Miraculously, the glass pieces avoided her face as she carefully navigated the sharp debris. Spotting a glass piece within reach, Y/N grabbed it and skillfully cut through the rope binding her wrists. With the bindings now loose, she quickly freed herself and began to plan her escape, her mind racing with thoughts of how to get out of this dangerous situation.

Feeling a sense of desperation, Y/N attempted to open the door, only to find it was locked tightly. Her eyes landed on her phone lying on the nearby table, and she quickly picked it up, hoping to reach out for help. With a glimmer of hope, she switched on the phone, but her heart sank when she saw no signal.

Determined not to give up, Y/N scanned the room again, her eyes landing on a small vent on the ceiling. Realizing it might be her only way out, she pushed a nearby chair under the vent and climbed up to get a closer look. With a renewed sense of determination, she knew that escaping through the vent was her best chance at freedom.

With quick thinking, she hoisted herself up and began crawling through the narrow vent, her heart racing with each twist and turn.

After what felt like an eternity, she saw a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. With newfound determination, she pushed herself forward, moving as quickly as she could towards the exit. Finally, she emerged from the vent, standing up to realize she was at the backside of the library, a mix of relief and uncertainty washing over her.

As Y/N emerged from the backside of the library, the realization of the passing time struck her. "How much time did I pass out? It's already night?" she thought, noticing the darkness that enveloped the surroundings.

Hurriedly, she grabbed her phone, her fingers quickly dialing Taehyung's number. As the call connected, she could feel a sense of relief washing over her. With determination in her heart and a sense of hope, she started running, the echoes of her footsteps against the pavement a rhythmic reminder of her urgency to reach safety.

"Y/N? Where are you?" Taehyung's worried voice came through the phone as he answered her call.

"The killer, it's Jaemin," Y/N frantically explained.

"What?" Taehyung's shock was evident in his tone.

"I will explain later-" Y/N began, but Taehyung's urgency interrupted her.

"Y/N, where are you now?"

"I am going to find Ryujin. I will call you later," she said before disconnecting the call.

With determination in her eyes, Y/N scrolled through her contacts and called someone else, her mind focused on seeking help and ensuring her safety in the face of danger.

"Hello?" Namjoon answered.

"It's Y/N," she replied urgently.

"Y/N? Are you alright?" Namjoon's concern was evident in his voice.

"Come to our university fast. Jaemin is the killer," Y/N blurted out.

"What?" Namjoon's disbelief was palpable.

"I don't have time to explain. Please come faster. Ryujin is in danger," Y/N pleaded, her voice filled with urgency, before abruptly ending the call.

With every second counting, she prayed that Namjoon would arrive swiftly to aid in averting the looming crisis.

-

"I know you are there," Jaemin's voice echoed through the room as he paced slowly, sending shivers down Ryujin's spine. She held her breath, hidden in the darkness of the closet, praying that he wouldn't discover her hiding spot.

"You better come out before I lose my patience!" Jaemin's voice rose in frustration, punctuated by the crash of a flower vase hitting the floor. The sound made Ryujin flinch, her heart pounding in fear as she fought to hold back tears, determined not to make a sound that would betray her hiding place.

With each passing moment, the tension in the room grew, and Ryujin knew that her only chance of survival relied on staying silent and out of Jaemin's sight.

-

Y/N's heart sank as she entered Ryujin's room, her eyes taking in the disarray and shattered vase pieces scattered across the floor. The room felt abandoned and chaotic, sending a cold wave of dread coursing through her.

"No... It can't be," she murmured to herself, her voice trembling with a mixture of fear and despair. The realization that she might be too late to save Ryujin washed over her.

Y/N's mind raced as she tried to piece together the puzzle in her frantic search for Ryujin. Thinking back to her escape through the vent and her recent location, a spark of insight ignited within her.

"Where would he have taken her? It must be the same room he took me to," Y/N speculated. "But where is it?"

Recalling her path, she considered the backside of the library. Realization dawned on her as she connected the dots. "If I reached the backside of the library after only a few minutes, there must be a room within the library itself," she concluded.

With newfound determination, Y/N resolved to head to the library, certain that it held the answers she desperately sought. Suddenly, Y/N collided with someone, their paths abruptly crossing in a moment of unexpected encounter.

"Oh, sorry-" Y/N began, before realizing that it was Beomgyu.

"Y/N?" Beomgyu called out, concern etched across his face.

"Oh, Beomgyu," Y/N replied, her smile tinged with awkwardness.

"Are you alright?" Beomgyu asked, genuine concern evident in his voice.

"Um- yeah," Y/N replied hesitantly, her mind preoccupied with her urgent mission.

"What are you doing here? Aren't you coming to eat?" Beomgyu questioned with curiosity.

"Yeah, I am a little busy. See you later," Y/N swiftly responded, eager to continue her frantic search for answers and safety. With a determined stride, she made her way towards the library, leaving behind a slightly confused Beomgyu.

-

"So... Are you ready to die, now that you know the reason already?" Jaemin taunted, his eyes fixed on the sharp glint of the knife in his hand as he menacingly approached Ryujin.

"Please, it was an accident. We didn't mean to-" Ryujin desperately pleaded, her voice trembling with fear.

"SHUT UP!" Jaemin bellowed, his anger evident as he lashed out and slapped her, causing her to recoil in pain.

But suddenly, a voice echoed through the room, breaking the tension. The sound pierced through the air, signaling the entrance of an unexpected presence, interrupting Jaemin's violent intentions.

"Leave her alone," the voice commanded, the voice brought a glimmer of hope to Ryujin's eyes, as she prayed that this unexpected savior would be the one to rescue her from the clutches of Jaemin's torment.
