CHAPTER FIVE - THE TRUTH COMES OUT
KAGAMI WAS PRACTICING AT A street ball court when suddenly a tanned male with dark blue hair came up to him. "He looks a lot like Daigo." Kagami thought.
"How about a one-on-one?" The blue haired male asked.
"And who are you?" Kagami asked rudely.
"Aomine Daiki." The blue haired male replied.
This leaves Kagami in shock. "He's one of the Generation of Miracles! And wait, did he say his last name was Aomine?"
"You have the same last name as my best friend. Are you related to Daigo?" Kagami questioned.
"You know Daigo, huh? If you're his best friend, I'm amazed you don't know about me. Does he really hate me that much?" Daiki wondered. "I'm his older brother. Twin brother."
"So he must be the one Daigo mentioned when he said he had someone close to him on the Generation of Miracles. The question is, why didn't he tell me?" Kagami thinks to himself.
The two of them began their one-on-one. Daiki's arrogance kept angering him. Daiki finally overpowered Kagami.
"Your light is too dim." Daiki commented, speeding past him and finishing their one-on-one.
Later, he met up with Momoi. "Kagami is disappointing. I don't know why Daigo is even friends with him." Daiki stated.
"Dai-chan..." Momoi thought before quickly catching up with him.

The next day at school, Kagami caught up with Daigo as he pinned him to the wall nearby, making him flinch as he pulled out his earbuds. "Can I help you, Bakagami?" He asked.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Kagami questioned.
Daigo raised an eyebrow. "Tell you what, Bakagami? You got to be more specific." He replied.
"Why didn't you tell me you're Aomine Daiki's younger brother?" Kagami asked. This made Daigo freeze up.
Daigo sighed. "I didn't tell you I was his brother because I was afraid you would treat me differently. That you wouldn't want to be best friends anymore. That's why I kept it a secret." He replied.
Kagami finally released him as they walked to practice together. "I'm not angry at you. Your brother mentioned that you hate him and that's why you didn't tell anyone about him." He said.
"I don't hate him. God, I never could hate him." Daigo admitted. "I came to Seirin to get away from Daiki. He just wasn't the same older brother that I grew up with. Have I ever told you how I got into basketball?" He asked as Kagami shook his head.
"It was by Daiki's influence. Everyday he would play street ball with the neighborhood kids when we were younger. He taught me how to play basketball. We were inseparable back then." Daigo explained. "We're still best friends. Right, Bakagami?"
"Always, Daigo." Kagami replied. "You being related to that bastard won't change anything. You're not like him."
They entered Aida Sports Gym where practice was being held. "Aomine-kun, why are you still in your school uniform?" Riko asked.
"Ah, actually Coach, I was wondering if I could skip practice today. I'm gonna visit my brother at his school." Daigo replied.
"Huh? All right. I'll see you tomorrow, Aomine-kun." Riko said as Daigo left the sports gym.
Daigo finally arrived at Touou Academy. He entered the school as people were looking at him. After all, he was from a different school. His school uniform showing it.
He entered the gym to see the basketball team practicing. "Daiki isn't here... As expected. Neither is Satsuki. Perhaps she went to check out Seirin?" Daigo thought.
"Oi, Aomine! I thought you weren't coming to practice today, bastard." A blonde haired male said, coming up to him, not noticing that he had a different school uniform on.
"Wait, Wakamatsu. That's not Aomine. Who are you?" A male with messy black hair and glasses asked.
"Uh, actually I am Aomine. Not the one you're looking for though." Daigo responded. "I'm Aomine Daigo. Daiki's younger brother."
"Ah, you must be the brother that Aomine and Momoi have been talking about. I'm Imayoshi Shoichi. Touou's captain." Imayoshi introduced himself.
"It's nice to meet you. Do you know where Daiki is by any chance? I'm skipping practice to visit him." Daigo said.
"You'll most likely find him on the school's rooftop." Wakamatsu answered.
"Thank you." Daigo said as he left the gym. He quickly found the rooftop and climbed up, spotting his twin brother laying down.
"Daiki." Daigo stated sternly. His twin scoffed as he opened his eyes.
"Daigo. How nice of you to come visit me." Daiki said. "Thought you despised me after middle school graduation."
"I don't hate you, Daiki." Daigo informed, sitting down next to his twin. "Kagami told me that you and him met."
"We did. He seems weak. He also claimed that he's best friends with you. If you don't hate me, how come none of your teammates seem to know who I am?" Daiki asked.
Daigo sighed, sitting down next to his twin. "Because I don't want to give off the impression to them that I'm also a perverted bastard that believes 'the only one who can beat me, is me' like you." He responded.
"Are you still looking for that player who can beat me?" Daiki asked.
"I believe I already have. Kagami Taiga." Daigo replied. "You might think he's weak. But I have faith that he'll beat you."
"I don't think he's weak. I know he's weak. The only one who can beat meโ" Daiki started to say.
"โIs me. I'll say it once I'll say it again. What a stupid phrase." Daigo interrupted as he stood up. "Well, if Bakagami can't do it. Then I will. I'll knock you back to your damn senses. After all, I'm your exact copy."
Daigo hops off the ladder and leaves Touou's rooftop. Daiki just watched his younger brother leave. He scoffs as he closed his eyes again. "You've changed, Daigo. What happened to my little brother who would constantly follow me around and annoy me? Has Seirin changed you that much?" Daiki thinks to himself.
Daigo finally arrived back at Seirin as practice was just ending. "Oi, Daigo! You've returned. You missed your old manager coming by for a visit. I guess she assumed that you were at Touou." Kagami stated.
Kagami waited for a reply from his best friend. Suddenly, arms wrapped around his torso as he saw that the blue haired male was hugging him.
To say that Kagami was shocked was an understatement. He remembered Kuroko had told him that Daigo doesn't like physical contact with anyone unless they were family or a significant other. He told him that he always pushed their pink haired manager away everytime she tried to hug him.
So why was Daigo hugging him now?
"Please Taiga..." Daigo hiccuped like he was crying, clenching the back of Kagami's tank top. "Please beat Daiki... I want my brother back."
Kagami had never seen Daigo like this. Sure he's seen him angry during their match with Shinkyo. But he's never seen him in his weak state. He thought back to what Momoi said when Koganei asked about him.
"Hey... You know Aomine, right? What's he really like? He never really makes a conversation with us except to Kagami and Kuroko." Koganei's question brought Kagami's attention as he looked up.
"Unlike his brother, Daigo-chan has been a very closed off person. He doesn't like showing his weak state. He only opens up to people he trusts. He always followed his brother around when we were younger. He was Daigo-chan's hero. But now... I'm not so sure. Perhaps he's found another person that's just as important in his life." Momoi replied, slightly looking over at Kagami.
Kagami snapped back to reality as he hugged his best friend back. "I promise, Daigo." He finally replied as Daigo continued sobbing into his chest, remembering a memory from his childhood with brother and Momoi.
"No fair! I had Suki-chan on my team and you still beat me!" A younger Daigo complained to his twin. A younger Daiki chuckled at his younger brothers stubborness.
"But that shows how amazing he is! Right, Suki-chan?" Daigo asked the pink haired girl as she only nodded in reply.
"You'll always look up to me. Right, Daigo?" Daiki's question caught his twin off guard.
"What kind of question is that, Nii-san? Of course I'll always look up to you! You are the most important person in my life, after all!"
Daigo sighed as he finally stopped crying as his hand intertwined with Kagami's, clenching it. "Thank you, Taiga." He mumbled.
"The moment of truth will finally come soon. If Seirin wins, I'll have Daiki back. However, if we lose... that may be my wake up call that Daiki isn't the same as he was back then."
