CHAPTER ELEVEN - KAIJO'S DEFEAT
KAIJO ENDED UP GRABBING THE BALL first. "The game's starting! It's Kaijo's ball first!" Hyuga announced.
"How will they play? Having played against both Kise-kun and Aomine-kun, honestly speaking, I feel Aomine-kun is better." Riko thought.
"Forget the small stuff." Kasamatsu claimed as he passed the ball over. "Our ace is... Kise!"
Kise catches the ball as Daiki immediately marked him. "Kise versus Aomine! They're already at it!" Kagami thinks to himself.
Kise and Daiki had a stare down with one another until Kise finally moved past him towards the hoop. Daiki then knocked the ball out of Kise's hands.
"You're just as weak as you've always been. You thought you got past me with that?" Daiki taunted as Imayoshi caught the ball.
"No, it's a steal!"
"Touou's on the counterattack!"
The ball was passed to Wakamatsu who got marked by Kobori. "No. 8... This guy's better at defense than he looks. In that case..." Wakamatsu passes the ball over towards Sakurai.
"Sorry!" Sakurai apologized as he scored a basket, making Touou get the first three points of the game.
"A three pointer." Izuki commented.
"Looks like Touou took the first basket." Kiyoshi stated.
The ball got passed over to Kise once more. "What? Kise-kun again?" Riko questioned.
Kise jumped up to score as Sakurai looked like he was about to vomit. "That's... What?" He asked himself in confusion.
"That's Sakurai's quick shot!" Wakamatsu realized.
Kise then released the ball from his hands. "I see you're still good at copying people. But it's not enough to win!" Daiki claimed.
The ball brushed Daiki's fingertips, making it barely miss the hoop. "He's fast! He got his hand on the ball even after jumping so late!" Kagami noted.
"It can't be good for them to have their ace stopped repeatedly already." Izuki narrowed his eyes. "If they get a counter off of this..."
"We're in control of the game!" Imayoshi thought, dribbling the ball down the court as Kasamatsu stole the ball from him.
"What?" Imayoshi thought in surprise.
Kasamasu released the ball from his hands. "We're not generous enough to hand over control that easily!" He exclaimed as the ball went into the hoop, making Kaijo get three points.
"They're tied!"
"Defense! Let's stop them!" Kasamatsu said.
"Yeah!"
"He made a sudden shot from there? He could have regrouped before attacking. They got them right back and broke their control!" Hyuga thinks to himself.
"We'll follow up on you as much as you need! Keep going!" Kasamatsu told Kise.
"Senpai..." Kise said.
Kasamatsu kicked Kise in the head. "I didn't say you could let them get you, though!" He exclaimed in irritation.
"Sorry!" Kise apologized.
"These guys are getting fired up! They're trying to take control." Wakamatsu noted.
Daiki had the ball in his hands. "I see. What a dependable senior. If you can't fight me yourself, you'll fight me all at once, huh?" Daiki asked. "You've started thinking like Tetsu and Daigo. Did you have a change of heart after losing to them? You're putting me to sleep."
"What? I didn't mention anything like that." Kise responded.
"Bastard!"
"They have no openings. Their defense is good." Kiyoshi noted.
"I guess I've come to acknowledge Kurokocchi's thinking. I even want to make Kaijo win. As for Daigocchi... He gave me a bit of advice before the game. I only need to think of what he meant by it. But I don't care what's correct. I just want to beat you. I'm not mature enough to play basketball with reason over instinct!" Kise declared.
Daiki smirked. "Bring it on." He challenged.
"When it comes to physical ability, Kise's not any worse than Aomine. But I'm still not sure he can beat Aomine's one-on-one." Kagami thought.
"A pass?" Izuki questioned.
Daiki moved past Kise before passing the ball over to his other hand. "What a quick switch!" Kagami thought.
Kise stepped in front of Daiki. "Amazing! He stopped him!" Koganei exclaimed.
"No. It's not over yet." Daigo thinks to himself.
Daiki stepped back before using his formless shot in which Kise ended up blocking it before it reached the hoop in which Daigo widened his eyes in surprise.
"Seriously?" Kagami said.
"That's... never been stopped before." Daigo muttered.
"He completely... stopped... Aomine!"
"Amazing!"
"He stopped Aomine!"
"I'm impressed. That's the first time I've seen anyone stop Aomine in a one-on-one." Imayoshi thinks to himself.
Kise then walked by Daiki. "I didn't think you'd actually stop me." He commented.
"Who do you think played and lost one-on-one to you everyday?" Kise reminded him. "I know you equally as good as Daigocchi does."
"I see." Daiki replied as Daigo thought back to when Kise and Daiki did their one-on-ones.
"Aominecchi! Let's play!"
Daigo entered Teiko's gym to see his twin brother and Kise against each other. He noticed Momoi standing at the side as he walked over to her.
"Is Kise going at Nii-san again?" Daigo questioned as Momoi looked over to him.
"Yeah."
"Geez. That guy seriously doesn't know when to give up."
Kise tried to make a basket but Daiki knocked it out of his hands as Kise fell to the ground. "One more game! One more game!" Kise begged.
"No way! I'm done for today. What time do you think it is?" Daiki questioned.
"Damn it..."
"Damn, I'm smiling. He really is strong. But losing still sucks! It hurts, but I'm having fun. What is this feeling?" Kise thought.
Later that night, the two brothers and Momoi were walking home together. "Why don't you go a little easier on him? Kise-kun's never played before." Momoi suggested.
"Go easy on him?" Daiki repeated, stopping in his tracks. "I can't afford to do that."
"Besides, Satsuki." Daigo added on. "The more he loses against Nii-san, the more he wants to win. I think he'll get stronger that way."
"Daigo."
Daigo snapped out of his trance as he saw Kagami looking over at him. "Sorry... did you need something?" He asked.
"No... You just looked like you were lost in thought. Something wrong?" Kagami asked.
"It's nothing." Daigo replied.
"What should we do? Should I pass to Kise?" Kasamatsu wondered as he glanced over, seeing that Kise was being marked by Daiki.
"Moriyama!" Kasamatsu called out.
"We won't fall for that!" Imayoshi thought. "You're going to fake a pass and go for the drive!"
Kasamatsu tried to move past Imayoshi but he ended up failing. "They knew?" Izuki questioned.
"You're wrong! I'm really going for what's coming next." Kasamatsu thought. "The turnaround!"
Kasamatsu moved around Imayoshi. "Into a fadeaway jump!" Imayoshi said as he jumped up to block him.
"He knew he'd do that, too!"
"You're right, but it doesn't matter!" Kasamatsu claimed, jumping up and throwing the ball past Imayoshi's fingertips, making the ball roll around the hoop.
"Rebound!"
"I'll get it this time!" Hayakawa claimed, grabbing onto the ball.
"Shut up already!" Wakamatsu shouted as Hayakawa passed the ball over towards Moriyama, who threw it up in the air, making the ball go into the hoop and scoring a point for Kaijo.
The buzzer then went off. "The first quarter is over." The woman on the intercom announced. Kaijo was in the lead with 18 points while Touou had 13.
"Kaijo completely took the first quarter." Riko stated.
"Aomine's not holding back again, is he?" Kagami questioned, causing Daigo to snort.
"No, he must be trying." Kuroko spoke up, making Kagami and Daigo turn over to him. "I can only assume Kise-kun is beating him."
"Listen to me, Aomine-kun. At this rate..." Momoi started to say.
"Shut up, Satsuki." Daiki interrupted, sitting down on the bench. "Kise's gotten stronger. I'm in trouble."
"Good job, everyone! Kise, you're doing good, too!" Takeuchi complimented.
"We're not losing to Aomine. At this rate..." Moriyama began.
"I don't know about that." Kise interjected, looking over to see Daiki grinning. "If we won like this, it would be too easy."
"Kaijo's in the lead. Honestly, I'm surprised." Hyuga commented.
"Yeah." Izuki agreed.
"I didn't expect Kise to crush Aomine this badly. He's definitely gotten stronger." Kagami noted.
"Can I ask you something?" Kiyoshi suddenly asked, causing his teammates to look towards his direction. "How did you guys beat Kaijo?"
Everyone was offended at his question with the exception of Kuroko and Daigo.
"Um..."
"With spirit?" Kagami answered, but it came out more of a question.
"You call breaking their hoop spirit?" Daigo teased while smirking as Kagami gave him an irked expression.
"You're never going to let that go, are you?"
"No way."
"Also, while I said Aomine-kun is trying, he tends to get stronger as the game goes on." Kuroko informed.
"If he's going to get any better, it will probably happen soon." Daigo added onto Kuroko's statement.
The buzzer went off again, signaling the start of the second quarter. Imayoshi had the ball in his hands.
"I thought they'd play more aggressively from the start, but they're pretty quiet." Hyuga noted.
The ball got passed to Sakurai as the ball eventually went back to Imayoshi, who jumped up to score. With Moriyama blocking him, he passes the ball over towards Wakamatsu, who scores the first basket of the second quarter.
"There it is!"
"Touou took the first basket of the second quarter!"
"Calm down! Let's get them back!" Kasamatsu reassured his team.
Imayoshi went forward to block Kasamatsu. "This guy..." Kasamatsu thought in irritation.
"I know you're fast, so I'm not letting you go." Imayoshi said as Kasamatsu passed the ball over towards Kise.
"Let me tell you one more thing." Imayoshi continued on as Daiki was right on Kise's trail. "No matter who he's up against, Aomine doesn't lose. He's the best."
"I can feel the pressure from up here." Daigo noted.
"I don't know what you're planning, but our Kise..." Kasamatsu started to say as Imayoshi let out a laugh.
"Planning? We don't have anything like that. Planning is something small fry like you do. Put simply, it's a difference in skill." Imayoshi stated. "There are plenty of reasons for it. For example..."
Kise was about to shoot, but Daiki knocked the ball out of his hands. "Agility!" Imayoshi finished.
"He knows what I'm planning? No, he's just fast!" Kise thought.
"You said you know me equally as good as Daigo. Did you not think it could work the other way around?" Daiki questioned.
"From the left to a crossover on the right!"
Kise was right on Daiki's trail before he switched over. "No... the other way?" Kise thinks to himself.
"And then there's skill." Imayoshi stated.
"Seriously?" Kagami thought in shock. "Kise should have had the advantage. But he forced another play from Kise's center of gravity!"
"No foul, Kobori!" Kasamatsu shouted out.
Kobori knocks into Daiki, but the ball still went through the hoop as the referee blew the whistle.
"Basket counts! One free throw!"
"He made the shot!"
"How did that go in?"
"Sorry." Kobori apologized.
"Don't worry about it." Kasamatsu reassured him. "Get ready for the next play."
Daiki was bouncing the ball up and down before shooting it up in the air, scoring a basket.
"They're tied!"
"Touou quickly closed in on them!"
"This isn't good. They can't stop Aomine anymore. He's too strong." Hyuga noted. "Not even Kise can beat him."
The game resumed as Kise caught the ball, Daiki immediately marking him. "Again?" Tsuchida commented.
"Kaijo must intend to put everything on Kise." Riko pointed out.
"You still don't understand." Imayoshi stated. "Your Kise-kun's good at copying people, but that's it. It's the biggest reason Kise-kun can't win. He doesn't have his own weapon. It's impossible for him to beat Aomine at basketball."
"Say, do a lot of people tell you you've got a bad personality?" Kasamatsu questioned.
"Whoa, now. That's pretty harsh." Imayoshi replied.
"You're the one who doesn't understand. Copying techniques and making them your own is learning. In other words, it's growing." Kasamatsu claimed.
Daiki widened his eyes. "This guy..." He thinks to himself.
Kise then copied Kasamatsu's turnaround. "He's copying Kasamatsu this time." Daiki realized. "But..."
"Too bad!"
Daiki ended up blocking Kise from making the shot. "I'm your mark. Don't assume I'm like that evil glasses guy." He informed.
"Are you talking about me?" Imayoshi asked, pointing to himself. "So mean!"
"Kaijo High School, time out."
The buzzer sounded as both teams were tied. "They're tied. But the game's just getting started. Touou won't be easy to stop once they get going." Hyuga pointed out.
"But the difference between the two teams isn't much. Victory will be decided by the difference between their aces." Kiyoshi narrowed his eyes. "What will they do?"
Kagami glanced over at Kuroko. "Kuroko?" He called out his name.
"Just like I thought, Aominecchi is amazing. If we don't prepare ourselves, we're screwed." Kise thinks to himself as he thought back to Daigo's words.
"You can't beat Daiki unless you're equal to him."
"That's what Daigocchi said... But what did he mean by that?" Kise wondered as Kasamatsu was staring at him. Kise suddenly let out a light gasp in realization.
"Quick turnarounds are their speciality. Don't match their pace. Also, the inside..." Takeuchi started to rant.
"Coach." Kise interjected, cutting Takeuchi off. "That thing I mentioned before the game... I want you to let me do it."
. ⋅ ˚̣- : ✧ : – ⭒ ⊹ ⭒ – : ✧ : -˚̣⋅ .
"What's this? They look like they're ready for something." Imayoshi noted. "They must have something planned."
Moriyama passed the ball over towards Kobori, who passed over to Kise. "There it is! Kise versus Aomine!" Koganei announced.
"How many times have they done this today?" Tsuchida questioned.
Kise and Daiki then had a stare down before Kise passed over towards Kobori, shocking everyone.
"Hey, what's wrong? Have you already given up?" Daiki taunted. "What's going on? One-on-one isn't his only choice, but he's not coming at me aggressively enough!"
Sakurai knocked the ball out of Moriyama's hands. "It's a turnover!" Hyuga exclaimed.
Daiki then had the ball as him and Kise faced off again. "This doesn't seem right. They don't seem aggressive enough, and then they pull that. They have no intention of losing. But it doesn't matter." He thinks to himself.
"Whatever you do, the results won't change!" Daiki claimed, moving past Kise.
"He's fast!"
"That's Aomine!"
Daiki ended up knocking Kasamatsu down as the whistle blew.
"Charging! Black No. 5!" The referee announced.
"What? A foul?" Koganei questioned.
"I can't believe it didn't count." Kiyoshi commented.
"He's good! But more than that, he's got balls! Instead of withdrawing because of the difference of their builds, he charged into him for a foul." Hyuga thought.
"You've really done it now, Senpai." Daiki spoke, holding out his hand towards Kasamatsu, offering to help him up. Kasamatsu took his hand, standing up.
"What?" Kasamatsu said. "You just hit a guy. What's with the attitude, kid?"
"That's our captain! Nice..." Hayakawa exclaimed.
"Shut up!" Kasamatsu interrupted, placing his hand onto the second-year's face.
"This is making me nervous. Can we really do this?" Moriyama questioned.
"It's not a matter of can or can't! We're going to do it! Believe in our ace!" Kasamatsu responded.
The game resumed as Daiki dribbled the ball, Kise stepping in front of him. Daiki moved past Kise and scored a basket, getting Touou a point.
"He's not stopping." Hyuga noticed.
"Aomine's at full throttle." Izuki added on.
Kise was panting heavily, trying to catch his breath. "What's going on? All that talk, and they're not doing anything." Imayoshi noted.
Kise looked at Daiki who was running off. "Damn it... He's so freaking cool. That absolute style no one can copy... I started basketball because I looked up to this guy. I could make normal plays after seeing them once, but no matter how many times I tried, I could never copy his. The truth is, I knew why I couldn't copy them. Once you look up to someone, you can't overtake them." Kise thinks to himself.
Daiki looked back to glance at the blonde. "While I wished to win, I also wished he wouldn't lose. That's why I'll give up on looking up to him." Kise declared.
"Impossible..."
"It's probably exactly what you're thinking." Daigo spoke up. "Kise is trying to copy mine and Daiki's style."
"Can he do that?" Hyuga asked, turning around.
"Kise-kun can only copy what he can do. He cannot copy anything he can't do." Kuroko responded.
"What?" Koganei quesitoned in confusion.
"Put simply, he's just a fast learner." Riko elaborated. "He can't recreate the movements of NBA players or anyone better than himself."
"But if he's trying to do something, it means he believes he can do it." Kiyoshi added on.
"But that could only mean..." Daigo widened his eyes in realization. "Of course! That's it!"
"Huh? What is?" Kagami asked. Daigo's exclaimation getting his team's attention.
"The only way Kise could try and copy mine and Daiki's style is sacrificing his admiration towards Daiki." Daigo replied.
"Uh... I don't follow."
"Moron. What I'm trying to say is, in order to beat Daiki, I have to sacrifice something as well— which would be my memories with him. I hate to admit it, but I think Kise actually helped me out on how I can beat Daiki this winter." Daigo explained.
The game continued as Imayoshi had the ball, with Kasamatu blocking him. "Oh, well." Imayoshi said as the buzzer went off just when the ball was in the air. The basketball then went in.
"A buzzer beater!"
"Man, I'm lucky. It went in." Imayoshi commented.
Kaijo gritted their teeth in irritation. "The second quarter is over. There is a 10 minute intermission." The women on the intercom announced as Touou was in the lead with 43 points while Kaijo had 34.
. ⋅ ˚̣- : ✧ : – ⭒ ⊹ ⭒ – : ✧ : -˚̣⋅ .
The third quarter eventually began as Imayoshi passed the ball over towards Sakuari as Kasamatsu knocked the ball out of his hands. Kasamatsu throws the ball over to Kise, who catches it.
"A quick break already!"
"No, you don't!" Imayoshi exclaimed, getting in front of him.
"Right to left crossover..." Kise mumbled as he did the exact move.
"Could this be Aomine's..."
Daiki's eyes widened with shock. Imayoshi crashed into Kise, making the referee blow his whistle.
"Foul, holding! Black No. 4!"
"Nice foul, Cap—" Wakamatsu started to praise.
"Wakamatsu," Imayoshi interrupted. "do you remember the day Aomine joined?"
"What?"
"I thought he seemed promising, and at the same time, when I imagined playing against him, I got goosebumps." Imayoshi continued on. "This isn't good. I've got goosebumps."
Kise mumbled to himself as he tried to make a basket, but Wakamatsu bumped into him.
"Pushing, black No. 6! Free throw, two shots!"
"Kise's amazing!" Koganei commented. "He's just like Aomine!"
"No, it's not perfect yet." Riko informed.
"What?"
"Only doing it when people besides Aomine come to guard him proves it. He must still think he's off the mark." Riko explained.
"In other words, when Kise tries to go one-on-one against Aomine again, it will be once he's perfected his copy." Kiyoshi adds onto Riko's statement.
Kise shoots the basketball into the hoop, scoring a point. Kaijo now had 46 points but Touou was still in the lead with 58.
"They're catching up! Kaijo's fighting back!"
The basketball suddenly went into the hoop with a loud slam, causing Kaijo to look in shock towards Daiki's direction.
The stadium was silent for a moment, before everyone cheered.
"That was a shot?"
"He's crazy!"
"Don't drag your feet, Kise. If you don't make it in time, it's over. I'm not patient enough to wait until you're ready." Daiki informed.
"They said they'd have faith in their ace and wait, but there's no such thing as a quick comeback in basketball. If the score and time remaining are too far gone by the time he perfects his copy, it's all over!" Hyuga thought.
Kasamatsu had the ball as he tried to move past Imayoshi. "He can't break through!" Hyuga pointed out.
"They know what he's going to do!" Izuki added on.
Kasamatsu eventually threw the ball up in the air as Hayakawa got the rebound. "Damn it, this kid!" Wakamatsu exclaimed.
Hayakawa passes the ball over towards Kobori, who makes the shot and scores a point for Kaijo. Imayoshi then did a behind the back pass over towards Sakurai.
He tries to make the shot by Moriyama stops him, knocking the ball out of his hands in which Kasamatsu grabs it.
"All right!"
"He stopped him!"
"The point difference hasn't changed!" Tsuchida pointed out.
"Senpai..." Kise mumbled.
"Just focus on your own job. In exchange, you can introduce me to girls if we win. I wouldn't mind a mixer." Moriyama said.
"What are you talking about, Moriyama-san?" Hayakawa questioned.
"I get the feeling I'm starting to understand what Kurokocchi and Daigocchi said. Kurokocchi and Daigocchi's "team"... What I need to do for them... And what I need to do for them now." Kise thinks to himself.
"The only one who can beat me is me."
"What if that "me" is who you're playing against?" Kise questioned as Daiki widened his eyes.
Everyone went silent as Kise started to move like Daiki. "I'm sick of waiting. Go crush them!" Kasamatsu exclaimed. Kise then flew past Daiki, shocking everyone.
"Kise finally... broke past... Aomine the ace!"
Kise then jumped up to score. "Don't get ahead of yourself, Kise!" Daiki shouted out.
"No!" Momoi warned.
Daiki then rammed into Kise as the whistle blew. Kise smirked before throwing the ball in the air and scoring a point.
"Defense, black No. 5! Basket counts, one free throw!"
"He made that shot?"
"When you're fouled while making a shot, the basket counts, and you're awarded one free throw. But more importantly that's Aomine's fourth foul!"
Daigo let out a laugh as he had his phone out. "Oh, I'm kicking my feet at this! This is priceless! Just priceless!" He exclaimed, causing Kagami to look at him.
"What is?"
Daigo turned his phone over as he had taken a picture of Daiki's surprised look. "Daiki being shocked for once in his god damn life! I'm putting this as my lock screen!" He replied.
Kise shoots the ball up in the air, making the shot as Kaijo was now at 51 points. "He made the free throw!" Koganei stated.
"The difference is only a single digit now!" Tsuchida added on.
Imayoshi was dribbling the ball. "Aomine!" He called out, passing the ball over to Daiki, who widened his eyes. Kise quickly grabbed the ball in the air.
"Kaijo's countering!"
"Aomine fumbled?" Kagami asked himself.
Sakurai then stepped in front of Kise. "I have to stop him!" He thought. Kise easily moved past Sakurai as he jumped up.
"Slam it in, Kise!" Kasamatsu shouted.
"Those four fouls were my mistake. But is this what Kise was hoping for? No... Even if he's accepted it as a winning strategy for his team, this can't be what he hoped for. But I never thought he'd make that face. And what's Satsuki's problem? Why does she look so concerned? Why do they look so panicked? Every last one of them... Don't get the wrong idea!" Daiki thought.
Daiki blocked Kise from making the shot. The ball ended up going into the crowd, hitting some audience members.
"They underestimated me, thinking I'd back down just because I have four fouls. But you're the one who bothers me the most, Kise. Don't show any concern for me. If you can afford to do that, you should be coming at me like your life depends on it!" Daiki told him.
Kise smirked. "I knew you could do it. If the game had ended like that, it would've been too easy." He stated as both him and Daiki had a stare down.
. ⋅ ˚̣- : ✧ : – ⭒ ⊹ ⭒ – : ✧ : -˚̣⋅ .
The buzzer then sounded. "Let the fourth quarter begin." The woman on the intercom announced.
"Touou hasn't changed their lineup." Hyuga commented.
"Anyone would lose their edge with four fouls." Izuki stated. "Are they going to be okay?"
Daiki grabbed onto the ball flying past Moriyama and Hayakawa as him and Kise eventually battled it out.
Daiki throws the ball into the air, making a basket. "There it is!" Koganei said.
"They scored already!" Tsuchida exclaimed.
Kise had the ball next as he did the same move Daiki did, scoring for Kaijo. "That was exactly the same shot." Kagami commented. Daiki and Kise kept scoring back and fourth.
"They're exactly the same!"
"Neither one's backing down!"
"This isn't a fistfight, it's an all-out brawl!"
"Kise!" Daiki shouted, slamming the ball into the hoop.
"Aominecchi!" Kise shouted as well, doing the same move.
Kise threw the ball up as it rolled around the hoop before finally falling in. Touou had 106 points while Kaijo had 98.
"That must be tough." Riko commented.
"I'm exhausted." Koganei sighed out.
"Not you!" Riko scolded. "I've never seen such static flow in a game before. The inside players must be really worn down mentally."
"It's especially tough on Kaijo. They've been stuck eight to ten points behind forever, but even with the clock ticking they still haven't given up." Hyuga pointed out.
"I'll admit he's good, but I won't let my guard down until the end. As long as he has those eyes, there's no telling what will happen." Daiki then smirked. "As long as he has the same eyes as both Tetsu and Daigo!"
"Sakurai!"
Kise rushed by Sakurai, stealing the ball from him. "The balance is broken!" Hyuga announced.
"This is Kaijo's chance!" Izuki exclaimed.
"Stop them! Defend at all costs!"
"One minute left." Kiyoshi said. "This is where the game will be decided. If they make this shot, they'll only be two threes behind. It'll boost the team's morale. If they miss, they'll have reach their time limit. In other words, practically speaking... It's their last chance!"
Daiki released a breath as Daigo widened his eyes while Kise chose to go up. "A formless shot?" Koganei questioned as Daiki jumped up as well.
Kise moved the ball back down, aiming to pass towards Kasamatsu. However, Daiki swung around and knocked the ball out of the blonde's hands.
"He stopped the shot?" Koganei asked in disbelief.
"They lost their only chance." Kiyoshi commented.
"You've done pretty well up until now, but in the end, you finally made a mistake. If it had been a one-on-one, you may have had a chance to win. You faked by looking one way and looked at Kasamatsu on your right. In that position, I wouldn't fake with my eyes. At first glance, a pass seems like the most surprising move, but it's also something I would never do and the most easily predicted move." Daiki said.
"My style of basketball isn't designed to rely on my teammates."
The game continued on as Touou kept racking up points. Kise jumped up the same time as Daiki, grabbing onto the ball. "I don't mind if we lose, but I can't be the only one to give up! If there's any reason I lost, it's simply I wasn't strong enough yet!" Kise claimed.
"Don't state the obvious." Daiki said.
The two battled it out until Daiki slammed the ball into the hoop.
TWEEEEEET!
110-98.
Touou had emerged victorious.
"Game over! Both teams, line up!"
. ⋅ ˚̣- : ✧ : – ⭒ ⊹ ⭒ – : ✧ : -˚̣⋅ .
Daigo was waiting for Kaijo who stopped in front of him. "Daigocchi?" Kise questioned, wondering why he was there.
"I'll make this quick. I need to hurry back to my team." Daigo began. "Thank you, Kise."
"Huh? What are you thanking me for?" Kise asked.
Daigo let out a chuckle. "If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have discovered what I need to do to beat Daiki." He replied. "Don't hold back this winter or I'll punch you."
Kise smiled. "Yeah, I won't." He promised.
Daigo was eventually walking with his team out of the stadium, walking next to Kagami.
"Huh? I feel like I've been here before. Where am I?"
Daigo looked back as he saw a familiar giant with shoulder-length purple hair. He let out a gasp, realizing who it was.
"What's wrong?" Kagami asked Kuroko.
"Nothing." Kuroko replied, standing up. "I just forgot to greet someone."
"So he realized who it was too, huh?" Daigo wondered. "That was most definitely Murasakibara..."
"You still suck at everything besides passing."
Kuroko turned around to see Kagami and Daigo. "How did you know I was here?" Kuroko questioned.
"I thought watching the game might have gotten your blood pumping." Kagami replied.
"I am heated up." Kuroko admitted.
"If you're heated up, I'm practically boiling."
"Their play has the power to do that to people." Kuroko said as Daigo hummed in agreement. "It's always been that way."
"Hey. What are the rest of the Generation of Miracles like?" Kagami questioned.
"I only know what they were like in middle school. Kise-kun, Midorima-kun, and Aomine-kun have all made significant improvements. I'm sure the other two have done the same." Kuroko responded. "Murasakibara-kun and Akashi-kun..."
"Lunatic." Daigo mumbled under his breath, hearing Akashi's name.
"Murasakibara... Akashi..."
"Not even I can imagine what they are like now."
Kagami then ran off, raising his hand up. Kuroko passed to him as Kagami jumped up and threw the ball into the hoop, causing Daigo to smile.
