━━━━ Josie could remember how lonely her childhood was. It was cold and confusing. Due to her age, she didn't understand. She didn't understand why her parents looked at her with that weird look in their eyes. A look that she later learned was a disappointment. She couldn't replace their dead child. Not in the way they wanted. She didn't understand why one of her parents kept mentioning someone she didn't know. She didn't understand why the other one purposely avoided any questions as if they were trying to forget. She didn't understand why she felt invisible when she was the only one there.

She remembers the portrait of a young person that was soon introduced to her as a sibling that has long since been dead. A sibling that she learned to hate. And she can clearly remember the way her parents looked at the pictures of them. They looked at them in longing. They looked at them and truly saw them. And she remembers the way she would sneak a picture of them in her room each night and stared until her eyes hurt. She would wonder what they were like. What they had that she didn't. And the picture would stare back as if it was mocking her. That picture strangely disappeared and was found smashed to bits.

After her parents divorced, she found herself staying with the parent that couldn't let go. That looked at her as if she wasn't there. And she knew that reason why she did this was that she was afraid. Afraid that if they all left that they would find them dead in the bathtub. Despite all of her complaining and hoping that they would disappear for good, she couldn't truly let that happen. A part of her does care, she would think bitterly as she tried to take care of a parent that would never and had never done that same for her.

And then her parents got back together. And they found themselves back in the house where only bad memories lay.
