CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT - BEAST KING RAMPAGE

𝓣𝚁𝙴𝙽𝚃

"LISTEN UP, GRID BATTLEFORCE. The Mayor and I have been working on a top secret project, and today you get to see it in action." General Burke was saying as I was wearing a black sweatshirt.

"Hmm. The Mayor seems to be running a bit late. But maybe I can give you a little sneak peak. . ." General Burke pulled something out of his pocket. "if I can remember how this thing works."

"Here, plug this in." General Burke told the worker.

"What top secret project?" Devon asked the Commander.

"I have no idea." Commander Shaw replied honestly.

"Is this thing on? Oh, red light! Okay, kids, strut your stuff, and maybe you'll be made the. . ."

"Dad, wrong video!"

"Turn it off!"

"Yeah, yeah, I'll fast-forward to the good stuff." General Burke said as we saw Ben and Betty wearing red and yellow outfits.

"Dad!" Ben said as both Devon and I chuckled.

"How do you stop this thing?" Betty questioned.

"Hey, uh, practice makes perfect, guys." Ravi informed.

"Oh no! That's me!" General Burke stated as he tried to stop the video before it went to static. All of us were trying to hold in our laughs.

"I'm afraid this video camera is, uh, defective." General Burke said, passing the camera to Ben.

"Uh. . . Oh, yeah. Don't worry, we'll. . . We'll fix it." Ben reassured.

"No problem." Betty gave a reassuring thumbs up.

"Technology these days!" Ben exclaimed as the two siblings left the room.

"General Burke, what is your secret project?" Commander Shaw questioned.

"Ah, yes. That would be. . . the Beast-X King Zord." General Burke announced.

"Uh, did you say Zord?" Nate asked.

"You're kidding, right?" Ravi asked as well.

"Not just any Zord. It's a top-notch piece of technology, made with Lion DNA." My head snapped up in shock.

"It's made with my animal DNA?" I think to myself.

"The plan is to build lots of them to protect the global network of Morph-X Towers." General Burke continued on.

Commander Shaw stepped forward. "You built a Zord without involving Grid Battleforce?" She questioned.

"The Rangers are way too busy keeping the city safe. This project won't disturb your operation one teensy-weensy bit. We even have our own designer. She used to work here." General Burke replied. The sound of the door sook opened. "And here she is now with the Mayor."

I turned and saw a familiar face that was none other than Megan. "Hey, Dad." Devon greeted.

"Megan?" I questioned in disbelief.

"Hi, everyone." Megan greeted.

"No way." Zoey said.

"Why would you hire her? She blackmailed Zoey!" Nate informed.

"Easy, Nate. Megan mentioned that there was some bad blood between you, but she submitted an amazing design. Her knowledge and experience make her the right person for this top secret assignment." Mayor Daniels explained. "She's done a great job."

"I know what I did to you guys was wrong, and I am truly sorry. But when the Mayor told me about the project, all I wanted to do was help." Megan said.

"Let's show them." General Burke said as Megan stepped forward.

"This Activator summons the Beast-X King Zord." Megan began, holding up her wrist. "For the purposes of the test, I will control it from my tablet." She then turned around, opening her tablet. "Now I'll just bring up the cameras."

"Okay. This is Pineridge Woods, just outside of Coral Harbor. Ready?" Megan took out a key. "Deploy Beast-X King Zord."

She puts the key in the morpher as a lion appeared from the rocks as the lion roared.

"Whoa! Are you guys seeing this? It really is a Lion Zord." Steel commented.

"It's. . . a large size version of Harlem. . ." I muttered.

"Just as majestic as we'd hoped." General Burke commented as the Lion Zord growled before letting out a roar.

Blaze and Roxy soon showed up in front of the Zord. "That's one heck of a Zord. Hope the Rangers don't miss it." Robo-Blaze commented.

"But lions are meant to be wild." Robo-Roxy claimed, throwing the dart straight at the Lion Zord as it was covered in purple lightning.

"Uh, wait. What's that glow?" Nate asked.

"Huh. That's weird." Megan stated.

"What's going on?" General Burke questioned.

"I commanded the Zord to stand down, but it isn't responding. I. . . I don't know what's happening!" Megan replied.

The Lion Zord soon lit a tree on fire. "Whoa! Did you tell it to do that?" Devon accused.

"No! There's some kind of malware. The Zord is totally out of my control!" Megan defended.

"Maybe that glow on the Zord was. . . Did you install a firewall against viruses?" Nate questioned.

"Well, I was going to, but. . ." Megan trailed off.

"You didn't. It's Evox. He's taking over control of that Zord with a virus!" Nate exclaimed.

"Let me stop it from rioting."

Everyone turns towards me. "Trent, no offense, but you're not in the best shape to do it. It's affecting you, too." Devon pointed out.

"The lion DNA resides in me, Devon!" I pointed out. "It's my job to stop it!"

"Get out there and stop that thing before it does any real damage." Commander Shaw told me.

"I'm on it." I responded, grabbing my ninja sword along with a certain ninja power star that Mick had gifted me.

"I can hear you, buddy." I said in my mind. "Whatever Evox has done to you, I'll help you!"

.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.

I was soon morphed. "Mick told me I would need this." I muttered. "Rumble Tusk Zord! Lock in! Ninja Spin!" I shouted as the Rumble Tusk Zord appeared.

"Rumble Tusk Zord! Out of the shadows!"

"Nice to see you again, old friend." I said, locking in my ninja sword. "I know I'm not Brody, but I could really use your help."

Fireballs were soon thrown at me as both the Rumble Tusk Zord and Lion Zord attacked one another as we both rolled on the ground.

"Come on, Trent, think!" I told myself. "Devon's way better suited for this!"

The Rumble Tusk Zord split itself up into it's humanoid form as it soon grabbed onto the Lion Zord, who flew me backwards.

"Nate, it's not giving up. Can you regain control?" I asked hopefully.

"I don't know, Trent, but we're going to figure it out." Nate told me.

"There was no virus before. The Zord was fine in all of my simulations." Megan claimed.

"Aha!" Nate exclaimed, standing up.

"Whoa. What is it, bro?" Steel questioned.

"Look at this. It's footage from earlier. See anything?" Nate asked as he zoomed in.

"What is that?" Megan questioned.

"That's the virus being uploaded. My guess is that Zord has had a visit from Evox's crew—which wouldn't have been a problem if you had installed a firewall." Nate told Megan.

"Very disappointing, Megan. Very." Mayor Daniels said.

"We need to focus on resolving this. Nate?" Commander Shaw said.

"I might have an idea. Ravi, Steel, Devon, I'll need you out in the field. Zoey, you help coordinate." Nate ordered as Ravi and Steel left.

"Shouldn't someone go out and help Trent?" Devon questioned.

"Trent's bonded with the lion DNA. He has to do this on his own. He's the only person who can." Nate replied. Devon nodded before following Ravi and Steel out.

"What can I do?" Megan asked.

"Nothing. I'll fix this." Nate responded.

"Here, you'll need these." Megan told Zoey, handing her the morpher and key, along with the tablet as Zoey took them before following Nate.

The Lion Zord fired at me again and then clawed at me, making the Rumble Tusk Zord shake.

"I'm taking damage." I said.

"Trent, Ravi, Steel, and Devon are on their way with a dish." Zoey informed.

"Copy. Fingers crossed." I responded.

I soon began firing at the Lion Zord who just roared. "I think this is close enough." Steel said as they opened the cases. "Let's make this quick."

"Okay."

"We're in position!" Steel informed.

"Copy that, Steel." Zoey replied. "The new programming signal is ready to be sent out. Trent, we need a clear shot."

"Roger that." I answered.

The Lion Zord fired once more as I moved out of the way. "It might not be easy." I commented.

I soon jumped onto the Lion Zord's back as it tried kicking me off. "Quick! Here's your chance!" I informed.

"Sending data now." Nate said as Steel fired at the Lion Zord as I got kicked off.

"I. . . I think you got him!" I spoke as the Lion Zord transferred into a Battle Mode, just like with Devon's Zord.

"Did it. . . change modes?" Steel asked.

"Uh, guys? Was that supposed to happen?" I questioned.

"No, no, no! Instead of re-programming the Zord, the signal triggered it to change into Battle Mode." Nate said. "Megan gave it a battle mode."

"Ravi, Devon, Steel, get back to base. We have to try something new." Zoey informed. "Trent, are you okay?"

"Yeah, but I don't know how long I can hold off this Zord." I replied as I clashed with the Lion Zord's Battle Mode. "Argh! Nate, what do we do now?"

"I don't know how else to help, Trent, but we'll figure it out." Nate answered. "Think, Nate, think. There must be another way to control that Zord."

"Megan said this wouldn't work." Zoey said.

"Megan caused this problem to begin with." Nate countered.

"I know you're upset with her, and so am I. But she knows this Beast-X King Zord better than anyone. Maybe we should put our feelings aside and accept her help." Zoey told him.

"Fine." Nate agreed as he rushed to get Megan.

"This is a prototype of the Ultra Bow." Nate informed.

"I see you've put jackrabbit, cheetah, and gorilla DNA in it. We'll need to load lion DNA too so it's compatible." Megan said.

"You're right. Thanks." Nate said sincerely.

"Uh, so you guys are working together now?" Ravi asked.

"Affirmative. We're all on the same side. Step one, we need to get the programming into an arrow." Nate held up an arrow.

"Let's do it."

"Come on!" I challenged as I clashed with the Lion Zord once more. "Hey, team. I'm not sure how much longer I can do this."

"It's almost done, Trent. Shouldn't be too long." Zoey reassured.

"Start the sequence." Nate said.

"Initiating Lion DNA morph." Megan spoke as the Lion DNA connected to the Ultra Bow.

"Phenomenal!" Nate commented as him and Nate removed the Ultra Bow. "It's now the Beast-X King Ultra Bow."

"Amazing! It's time for the "mane" event, with the lion!" Steel claimed as everyone headed out.

I was still battling it out with the Lion Zord. "Uh, Trent, I need a clear shot, just for a second." Nate told me.

"Say no more." I stated as I punched the Lion Zord. "You're up!"

"Power Bolt!" Nate shouted, releasing the arrow as the Lion Zord began to stumble back.

"Something's happening." I commented as the Lion Zord switched out of Battle Mode, going back to normal as I cheered.

"Trent, take the Beast-X King Zord back to its hangar, then you can help the others." Commander Shaw said.

"Copy that, Commander." I responded as the Beast-X King Zord roared.

"You want me to get on?" I asked. "Well, if you insist, friend."

I got on the back of the Beast-X King Zord. "You deal with the Black Ranger. I can handle this." Robo-Roxy claimed.

"I'll take him down with a surprise Gigadrone from Scrozzle." Robo-Blaze said as he left.

A Gigadrone soon appeared from above me. "That can't be good." I commented.

Blaze laughed evilly. "Scared, Black Ranger?" He taunted.

"Hate to break it to you, but I've dealt with a lot worse bad guys than you, buster." I replied, rushing forward.

"Say 'cheese'!" Blaze exclaimed as he fired at me. "How about we heat things up?"

I soon appeared from the explosion. "My turn! I'm gonna give it to you straight!" I exclaimed, slashing through Blaze's Zord and the Beast-X King Zord changed back to normal.

"Phew. Now, that's wild." I commented as the Beast-X King Zord roared.

"I hear you, partner." I said, getting into the Beast-X King Zord. "In position."

The consoles soon beeped. "I feel right at home here." I chuckled a bit, grabbing the consoles. "All right, friend. Let's show Blaze who the true king of the jungle is."

I pressed onto some buttons. "Beast-X King Zord, battle mode!" I shouted, switching into battle mode.

"How cool! Oh, I'm so gonna brag about this to everyone back home!" I stated. "Should have known when to give up, Blaze!"

I then began fighting Robo-Blaze. "Let's crank things up! Beast-X King, Flame strike!" I shouted out, firing at Robo-Blaze. "All right, systems at full power."

Robo-Blaze soon got up. "Scepter slash!" I exclaimed, using the lance to slash at Robo-Blaze's Zord.

"Not again!" Robo-Blaze complained. "Curse you, Trent!"

Robo-Blaze then went up in an explosion. "Virus eliminated." I announced.

"So this is Evox's dart. What a nasty bit of work!" Ravi commented, looking at the dart. "Better dispose of this thing carefully."

"I'm sure glad that Beast-X King Zord's on our side now." I claimed.

"When you need it in battle, use the Beast-X King Zord key and activator to summon it. It belongs to the Rangers now." Megan said, handing me the key and activator.

"I take back anything bad I said about you before. You are amazing." I told her, making Megan smile.

"I owe Grid Battleforce an apology. We should never have done this without your help. It won't happen again." General Burke promised.

"Lucky for us, we had a top-rate engineer building that Zord. Without her, today would have been very different." Nate said, giving Megan a hug.

"We're glad to be working with you again, Megan." Commander Shaw said.

"Thanks, everyone, for giving me a second chance. It means a lot." Megan told us.

"You worked hard. You earned it." Zoey informed as the door hiss opened.

"Hey, Dad, your camera is all fixed." Ben announced.

"Ew! This place is a mess." Betty commented.

"Yeah. Sure is." Ben agreed as he ended up throwing Evox's dart.

"No!" We all shouted in warning as the dart hit Steel's leg.

"Oh! My leg! Whoa!" Steel exclaimed as his leg moved on its own. "It's going wild!"

"Oops! Sorry, Steel!" Ben apologized.

"Get it off! Legs. . . detach!" Steel shouted as his legs detached. "Ugh. Now somebody grab 'em!"

"We got it!" Betty reassured as her and Ben tried to grab Steel's legs.

"Hey, get back here! Oh no! Not on the table! Leave Nate's vials alone! Please, somebody! Hey!"

Steel's legs soon left the room. "Hey, where are you going?" Steel called out as Ben and Betty rolled him out. "Get back here! Naughty legs!"

"Stop those legs!"

We all laughed while the Commander just groaned.
