CHAPTER TWELVE - TOOLS OF THE BETRAYED

I WAS AT RIPTIDE GYM with Devon, Ravi, and Zoey. I was wearing a black hoodie. "All right, Devon, we're ready. Where are you?" Zoey asked. She was blindfolded along with Ravi and I.

"Ha!" Devon said.

Devon headed straight for us as I fought him off with the stick in my hands. I held off a little easier than Ravi and Zoey did.

"Try to feel your beast instincts. You can't always rely on your sight." Devon reminded us.

The three of us waited to see where Devon would attack us next. Ravi, Zoey, and I grunted as we attacked Devon, who blocked our attacks.

"That's more like it." Devon commented as we continued fighting him until the three of us got blocked once more.

"That's it! That's it!" Devon said as the three of us panted.

I pulled down my blindfold as Ravi and Zoey did the same thing. "That was cool! With the blindfold on, I could really feel my beast instincts kicking in." Zoey stated.

"That's exactly the point." Devon told her.

Ben and Betty then walked in. "Delivery for Devon Daniels." Betty announced.

"We know you've been waiting for it, so we thought we'd surprise you." Ben added as Ravi, Zoey, and I sat down.

"My virtual reality headset, it came!" Devon exclaimed as he took the package from Betty and opened it. "This took forever to show up."

Both Betty and Devon gasped. "This is the best VR gaming gear ever made. All those months of saving are about to pay off. I can't wait to try it out." Devon was about to test it until we heard beeping coming from Zoey's communicator.

"Go ahead." Zoey said.

"Blaze has been spotted in Sector Echo 6-8. Nate and Steel are responding. I'm transmitting coordinates to you." Commander Shaw informed.

"Roger that." Zoey replied as we headed out of Riptide Gym.

The four of us appeared at the destination morphed. "Sorry we're late." Devon greeted.

"Glad to see you guys." Nate told us.

"Transport!"

Our blasters then appeared in front of us. "Let's go." Devon said as all of us headed for the Tronics.

I kicked a few of the Tronics while blasting some others.

"Beast Blast!"

Ravi, Zoey, and I fired our blasters at the remaining Tronics.

"That's the end of that." Zoey said.

"Great job. Come on." Ravi informed.

"Did Blaze get away?" Steel asked as we regrouped with Devon.

"Yeah." Devon responded.

"Rats! He always does!" Steel exclaimed.

"Don't worry. He left with his Robotron Maker in pieces." Devon reassured.

"Let's tell the Commander the good news." Nate informed.

All of us nodded in agreement as we headed back towards the base.

I was currently in Nate's lab with the others. "Insert the final piece. And..." Nate trailed off. "that is how you assemble a Gigadrone Detector."

"Right on. So... what's it for?" Steel asked.

"Well, these Detectors will warn us when a Gigadrone is about to arrive." Nate explained.

"So no more surprise attacks. Like that drilling Gigadrone who snuck up on us underground." Zoey pointed out as she sighed. "Hated that guy."

"Nate, it's genius." Ravi complimented as Nate chuckled softly.

"We need to set up Detectors all around the city." Devon informed, crossing his arms.

"Make sure to choose a location where the public won't notice the devices." Commander Shaw reminded us.

"And you'll need to assemble them on-site, since each location will require a different configuration." Nate added on.

"Each Ranger takes a unit. Ben and Betty, you guys build one together as a team." Devon said. "Let's get to work."

"Ooh, those Gigadrones won't know what hit 'em!" Steel commented.

Each of us grabbed a Gigadrone Detector as we headed out.

I placed a Gigadrone Detector at a power plant, double checking to make sure it was set correctly.

I was at the base when Commander Shaw walked in. "Zoey, Ben and Betty are on their way. Let's get started." Commander Shaw informed.

"Yes, ma'am. Activating all Gigadrone detectors." Nate said as he activated all of the detectors. However, one turned red. "Huh. Station six isn't working. That's... Ben and Betty's unit."

"Let me know when you get it online." Commander Shaw told him. Nate nodded as Commander Shaw left the room.

"Weird. Can we take a look at it?" Ravi suggested.

"There's a security camera I can access. Here it is." Nate answered as the security footage appeared on screen. We saw that the detector was in pieces — as if it wasn't touched in the first place.

"What the...? Looks like Ben and Betty didn't even build their detector yet." Devon pointed out.

The doors then opened as Zoey, Betty, and Ben walked in with Ben and Betty eating ice cream cones. "Sorry we're late. I just thought we deserved a little treat." Zoey announced.

"Mm-mm!" Ben hummed, eating the ice cream from his cone.

"Did you really get ice cream instead of setting up the Gigadrone detector?" Ravi questioned.

"Wait, we did set it up." Betty replied.

"Yeah, just like you wanted." Ben added to his sister's statement.

"Well, that's hard to believe, since your detector is still in pieces." Devon informed.

"What?" Zoey questioned in disbelief as she walked up to the screen. "But I saw it. It was fully installed. I don't get it."

"And there's something I don't get." Devon began as Zoey turned to him. "Earlier, when my VR headset got smashed, you said you were the one wearing it. Thing is, you were just fine, but it was pretty banged up. Just like Ben and Betty."

Ben and Betty gave each other a look. "You're right. We broke your headset." Betty admitted.

"I just covered for them, because I didn't want them to get in trouble." Zoey turned back to the screen. "But they did set up the detector!"

"You lied to me about the headset, so why should I believe you about the detector?" Devon countered.

"Why? Because we're friends." Zoey replied, stating the obvious.

"Friends are supposed to be honest with each other, Zoey, and you were not." Devon told her.

Zoey didn't reply as she sighed. "Excuse me." She said, walking past Ben and Betty.

"Z!" I called after her, but I was ignored as she left the room.

"Zoey, wait!" Jax shouted as he followed her out the door.

"Just a little harsh maybe?" I told Devon.

"She was just trying to help Ben and Betty." Ravi added on to my statement.

"She's right. You would've been really angry at them." Nate pointed out.

"Whatever. Let's go. We gotta finish setting up that last Gigadrone detector." Devon informed as he walked out of the room with us following him.

"Looking good up there, Devon." Steel commented as Devon was on a ladder setting up the Gigadrone detector.

"One sec." Devon said as he pressed the button, activating the detector. "It's linked to the network."

"Great. Next time Scrozzle sends one of his Gigadrones, we'll be ready." Ravi stated.

"Ready... to be destroyed." Roxy corrected as we all got into a fighting stance.

"A Robotron! Looks like they put their machine back together." Steel said.

"Only one way to fix that. It's morphin' time!" Devon exclaimed as we pressed our communicators, revealing our morphers.

"Activate Beast Power! Ha!" We shouted as we morphed.

"Unleash the Beast!"

"Transport Beast-X Blaster!" Devon, Ravi, and I shouted.

"Showtime!" Devon exclaimed.

"Sure is!" Tooltron agreed as he zapped our blasters.

"What?"

"Our blasters!"

Our weapons fell to the ground in pieces. "He just took them apart!" Nate exclaimed.

"So he's like a knock-off version of Typeface. How original." I think to myself, remembering the monster who had placed a virus in our weapons when I was with the Ninja Steel Rangers.

"Looks like my Robotron threw a wrench in your plans." Roxy said.

"Hah! We can just call in new weapons." Steel informed.

"Not so fast!" Tooltron said as he zapped our transporter that we use to call out weapons.

"Our Transporters!" Devon exclaimed.

"We've got nothing to fight with!" Nate stated.

"This will be tougher than we thought." Ravi informed.

"And for my next trick, I'll disassemble an entire ranger." Tooltron claimed as he pointed his weapon at Steel.

"Me?" Steel said in confusion.

"Say goodbye, robot!" Tooltron exclaimed.

I acted quickly as I grabbed a nearby metal wheel. "Steel, catch!" I shouted, throwing the metal wheel at him.

"Got it!" Steel said, catching the metal wheel and deflecting the attack, which hit the Gigadrone detector instead.

"Nice try, but you missed!" Steel informed before he turned around. "Wait. Look!"

"The detector!" Nate said.

"Enough. Go find the Yellow Ranger and take apart her weapons too. I'll take care of these five." Roxy ordered.

"Perfect." Tooltron cackled before he left.

"What happened?" Ravi asked.

"That blast completely dismantled it." Nate responded.

"Then Ben and Betty really did build their detector. Oh man. Zoey was telling the truth." Devon realized.

"Hey, jerks!" Roxy called out.

"Huh?"

Roxy then fired her weapon at us as Devon used his cheetah speed to knock her weapon out of her hand.

"Time to go beast!" Ravi exclaimed as he used his gorilla strength and headed for her.

"I am not in the mood for this." Roxy claimed as she disappeared.

"Darn! Missed. Where did that Robotron go?" Ravi asked.

"He's after Zoey." Nate answered.

"Come in, Zoey. There's a Robotron heading your way." Devon didn't receive a response. "Zoey, do you copy? Why isn't she answering?"

"Maybe Tooltron found her." Steel replied.

"Jax, any idea where Zoey might be?" Devon tried Jax next.

"She said she needed to think. She's probably at Forsner Park." Jax answered.

"Okay." Devon said.

"Right." Nate added on.

"Let's go." Ravi informed as the five of us headed for Forsner Park.

The rest of us finally arrived at Forsner Park as we exited the car. "Zoey! Are you OK?" Nate asked, worried.

"I'm fine, but my Morpher!" Zoey exclaimed as an engine roared. "Cruise!"

"Heard you need one of these." Cruise stated, tossing her a new morpher in which she caught it.

"And transporters!" Cruise added as we caught them.

"Nice!" Nate said.

"Thanks, Cruise." Devon thanked him as we switched our broken transporter with the new one. "Time to give that creep a taste of his own medicine. Let's do this."

"Transport!" We shouted as our blasters appeared.

"Beast Blast!"

We fired our blasters at Tooltron and the Tronics. Devon then fired at Tooltron's blaster, destroying it.

"Great shot!" Zoey complimented.

"Thanks." Devon said.

"Our gear's safe, but we're not done yet. Activate Beast Power!" Zoey shouted as she morphed.

"You'll pay for that." Tooltron claimed.

"I don't think so." Zoey declined.

"Transport Beast-X Saber!" Devon shouted.

"Just try me." Tooltron challenged.

"Rangers, get ready." Devon said. "Go!"

"It's on." Tooltron said as we began fighting the Tronics.

I swung my Lion Lance around as I slashed the Tronics that were coming for me.

Devon and Nate had finally destroyed Tooltron. "Aww, I missed it. But good job, bro!" Steel complimented.

"The Tronics are toast." Ravi said.

"Then let's head back to base." Devon informed.

"All right." Zoey agreed as we headed back to the base.

.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.

"Sensors detect an incoming Gigadrone."

"Rangers, one of the detectors was triggered." Commander Shaw informed. "There's a Gigadrone on the way. Deploy all Zords."

All of us were in our Zords. "Wrecker Zord, Battle Mode!" Nate exclaimed.

"Beast-X Megazord — unleashed!" Devon shouted. "Gigadrone on radar. Here we go."

"We're ready for it." Nate said.

Tooldrone then appeared as another Gigadrone was made from it.

"Whoa! Unreal! Did you guys see that?" Devon questioned.

"Looks like a new kind of Gigadrone." Zoey replied.

"And it came out of the other one's back. Nasty!" I finished.

"Good thing our Gigadrone Detector system is up and running, otherwise we would have been too late." Ravi pointed out.

"Yeah. Let's get 'em." Devon agreed.

We began attacking the two Gigadrones. "This drone's tough!" Devon exclaimed.

"Get wrecked!" Nate commented as he continued attacking Tooldrone. "It's crushing my Zord!"

Steel then came in to save him. "I've got your back, brother." He said.

"Thanks, Steel." Nate thanked him.

We kept getting destroyed by the Gigadrone. "We need backup!" Zoey shouted.

"Let's use that new Megazord combination." Steel suggested.

"Like we practiced." Nate added on as his and Steel's Zords started coming together. "Striker Megazord, combine!"

"Striker Megazord — unleashed!"

The two fired at the Gigadrone as we continued attacking the other.

"Now's our chance. Hey, guys, let's finish 'em!" Nate exclaimed.

"Yeah." Devon agreed as we flew into the air.

"Beast-X Hyperkick!"

"Striker Hyperblast!"

The two Gigadrones were finally defeated as they exploded.

"Virus eliminated!"

All of us were entered Riptide Gym to see Devon and Zoey hugging each other.

"Delivery for Devon Daniels!" Ben and Betty said in unison.

"You fixed my headset?" Devon questioned.

"Yep. Go on, give it a try." Nate responded.

Devon placed on his gloves. "But be careful. There's a mean looking shark in the surf game." Betty warned.

"Oh, no worries." Devon said as he placed his headset on before chuckling. "Surf's up, dudes."

We all laughed as he stumbled a bit. "I fell off the board." Devon commented.

"Wait for it." Betty said.

Devon then began whimpering. "Shark! Shark!" He exclaimed, stumbling back. He stepped on a skateboard before tumbling over a bunch of plants and finally crashing onto the ground.

Ben caught the headset on time before it broke again.

"Told ya that shark was mean." Betty informed, making the rest of us laugh.

"Now, that's a wipeout!" Steel commented.

A/N: Another chapter is done! I think I finally decided how I'm going to combine Trent's Ranger forms.

In the episode, "Sound and Fury" Trent will ask Nate if there's a way he can combine his Ranger forms. I decided this was the best way since Megan is introduced.
