CHAPTER THREE - BACK IN BLACK, PART 3

𝓣𝚁𝙴𝙽𝚃

"AIDEN! I FEEL LIKE IT'S been a while since I talked to you. How are things?" I asked, my phone pressed to my ear. Levi had called me just as I was on my way to the agency. I guessed that he wanted to check up on me.

"Hey, Trent. It's been okay over here. I'm preparing for my world tour that will be taking off in a few weeks. What about you? How's your internship?"

"It's going splendid. I met some... interesting people, I guess you can say." I responded.

"Well, I'm glad you're making new friends." Levi said. "But you better not even think about replacing us."

I laughed. "It's not like no one can replace you, Brody, Calvin, Preston, Hayley, and Sarah. You guys will forever be my favorite people." I told him as I arrived at the agency. "I just arrived at the agency. Call me when you arrive at your first destination, all right? I love you."

"Yeah, yeah, I love you, too."

I bid farewell to Levi one last time before placing my phone in the back pocket of my jeans. I was currently wearing a black button-up shirt with light blue denim jeans and white Converse.

Just as I entered the doors of the agency, Zoey came running up to me. "Trent!" She shouted.

"What can I do for you, Z?" I asked. Zoey looked shocked by the nickname, but didn't question it.

"You work closely with Mayor Daniels, right?" She asked.

"I mean, essentially, yes. I take notes for him sometimes. Why do you ask?" I questioned.

"Great. I need you to help me to convince Mayor Daniels that people are willing to commute with Morph-X bicycles instead of driving." Zoey answered.

"Uh, Z... I know you have good intentions. Believe me, I'm all for your idea." I began.

"There's a "but" coming along is there?" Zoey asked.

"A lot of people in the city depend on cars. For example, they're good when you travel long distances." I replied.

"But that means more forests will be destroyed to make more roads." Zoey argued.

I placed my hands on her shoulders. "Hey, I didn't say I wouldn't help you. Like I mentioned earlier, it's a good idea. Not only will it save the forests, it'll also keep the gas from the cars from polluting the air." Zoey agreed with my statement. "The only thing we need to do is get Mayor Daniels to agree."

"Think he'll agree?" Zoey questioned.

"Doesn't hurt to ask." I answered.

"We're too late." Zoey stated as she stopped her X-Bike.

"All right, we're moving in."

"Stop!" Zoey called out as she ran towards bulldozer.

"Z!" I shouted after her.

"Honey, what are you doing?!" Muriel, Zoey's mother asked, rushing towards her.

"What's the meaning of this?!" Mayor Daniels asked.

"Hi, Mom." Zoey greeted her mother. "Mr. Mayor..."

"I remember you from Grid Battleforce. You're Zoey, the laundry girl." Mayor Daniels stated.

"That's right." Zoey said. "Sorry, but that bulldozer was about to hurt this cute little lizard. Look at him."

"Well, I'm glad you saved him." Mayor Daniels told her.

"Well, I'm afraid that saving one lizard isn't gonna solve the problem. Mr. Mayor, this forest is an important ecosystem, home to tons of animals..." Zoey explained.

"I understand your concern, but traffic is a nightmare here. I don't see any other way around it." Mayor Daniels informed.

"I do. That's why I'm here. Cuz I'm not afraid of big problems; I solve big problems. Let me show you something." Zoey said as the Mayor followed her, along with me, her mother, and the camera man.

"This is an X-Bike. It's powered by clean, renewable Morph-X. You could pedal it for exercise or just enjoy the ride and let the Morph-X motor zip you along!" Zoey explained.

Mayor Daniels was examining the bike. "Interesting idea, but how does this solve my traffic problem?" He asked, standing up.

"We could put X-Bikes all around the city for people to use. Each person on a bike is one less car creating traffic problems. Imagine all the money the city would save if they funded my X-Bikes instead of building expensive roads." Zoey responded.

"You have a good head for business, Zoey." Mayor Daniels told her. "The city will fund your X-Bikes... for one week. If you can get people to ride them, I'll cancel this road. What do you say? Is it a deal?"

"Deal." Zoey agreed, shaking his hand as Mayor Daniels walked away.

Zoey exhaled. "Don't worry, little buddy. We'll make sure that your home is safe. You can hang out with my friend Nate." She said.

"And cut! Now, that's a news story. Oh, wow." Muriel went up to her daughter. "You may be the laundry girl now, but someday you'll be running Grid Battleforce. Hey, you might even become a Ranger one day."

"Uh, me? Come on, Mom." Zoey denied as a held back a chuckle.

"Well, looks like you didn't need my help after all, Z." I informed, nudging her shoulder.

"Yeah." Zoey agreed.

.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.

"Try one of our new Morph-X-powered bikes! How about you? You wanna try one?" Zoey asked a man, handing him a flyer. "It's a clean, green way alternative to—"

"No, thanks." The man interrupted her, throwing the flyer in the trash.

"Trying to get to work? How about riding an X-Bike? No traffic." Ravi said to a woman.

"And no cupholder. Where do I put my coffee?" The woman asked before walking away while Ravi sighed.

I rode my bike next to a teenager who was carrying a backpack. "Try one of our X-Bikes. You'll be the talk of the school." I tried to persuade him.

"Yeah, that's so out of style." The teenager said before walking away.

"I think they're pretty awesome." Dacoda commented, riding his bike next to me.

I chuckled. "You're thirteen, Coda. Kids your age think everything's awesome." I informed.

Ben and Betty were getting people's attention from their two-person X-Bike. I stopped my bike next to Ravi's and took off my helmet.

That's when a monster appeared. "Unless you wanna ride one, step away from the bikes." Zoey claimed.

"You better back off, puny teenagers... or else!" Needletron informed.

"Or else what?" Zoey challenged.

Needletron fired at the bike Ben and Betty were on, making them fly into the sky and crash into the water. "Right on point." Needletron said.

"You really shouldn't have messed with our friends." Devon informed.

"Aw, but it's just so much fun." Avatar Blaze taunted.

"Let's pump things up." Devon said. "It's Morphin' time!"

Their morphers then appeared. "Activate Beast Power!" The three of them shouted, morphing into their Ranger forms.

"Unleash the Beast!"

"Trent, you better step aside." Devon told me.

"No can do, Devon. Didn't think I would reveal myself this soon, but now's a good of a time as any." I replied, getting out my own morpher.

"Activate Beast Power!" I yelled as I got covered in black mist and a lion head appeared, morphing me into the Black Ranger.

"You're the Black Ranger?!" Ravi exclaimed.

"Uh, surprise?" I chuckled as Avatar Blaze placed his helmet on.

"Let's make today their last day!" Avatar Blaze informed.

"Sharp idea!" Needletron agreed as we all began fighting them both. Devon and Ravi took care of Needletron while Zoey and I took care of Avatar Blaze.

"You're going down!" Zoey said.

Devon and Ravi were thrown to the ground as they demorphed while Zoey and I continued fighting Avatar Blaze.

"You're good, but not good enough!" Avatar Blaze told us as he threw Zoey and I to the ground.

Needletron laughed. "I'm pumped to destroy you." He claimed.

"Uh-oh!" Zoey exclaimed.

"No more needling around. Time to take you out!" Needletron stated as he fired at us. I moved out of the way while Zoey jumped up.

"Ha! You missed." Zoey said.

"Ha! I'm just getting started." Needletron claimed.

"So am I!" Zoey told him as she pressed the button on her suit. "Transport Beast-X Blaster!" A blaster appeared in front of her.

"Let's see how Nate's Beast-X cannon works in action." She said.

"Cannon?!" Needletron questioned.

"What is that?" Avatar Blaze wondered as Zoey began putting the blaster together.

"Beast-X Cannon — ready!" Zoey stated.

"Wait!" Needletron pleaded.

"Beast-X Cannon — blast!" Zoey shouted as she fired the cannon at Needletron and he exploded.

Avatar Blaze picked up one of Needletron's parts. "Guess I'll stick a pin in this for now. You'll see me again." He promised as he disappeared.

"No! He got away." Zoey said as both her and I demorphed. We then headed towards Ravi and Devon.

"Ravi!" Zoey called out.

"Devon!" I shouted. "You guys OK?"

"Yeah, we're fine." Devon reassured me as Zoey helped Ravi up.

"But Blaze took that Robotron's needle... It's full of Morph-X." Ravi stated.

Zoey sighed. "And after that attack, will anyone come near my X-Bikes again?" She wondered, sighing once more as the four of us looked at the bikes.

I was with the others as we were helping Zoey gather the animals in the forest.

I picked up a grasshopper before placing it in the container that Dacoda was holding.

"Good job, team!" Jax complimented.

"I got one, Jax." Ravi informed as he placed the hedgehog in the container.

"We'll make sure these little critters are safe until their homes are too." Jax stated as I placed the container in the car.

"Don't worry, Zoey. We'll stay out here all night if we need to." Devon reassured her as she sighed before going over to sit on a rock.

"By the way, Trent. When were you going to tell us you were the Black Ranger?" Devon asked as even Ravi stopped to look at me.

"Wasn't trying to hide it. Just never felt like the need to reveal myself." I responded. "Never expected the Lion DNA to connect to me either. But couldn't really do anything about it."

"Seems Dacoda's suspicions were right after all." Ravi added on.

"Hm? What do you mean?"

"When we were trying to figure out the identity of the Black Ranger, he mentioned that you had the same energy we did. Which I assume was the Lion DNA, and he said there was something else mixed with it." Ravi explained.

"Something else? He must be talking about the Nexus energy that's still resides in me from the final battle with Odius." I think to myself.

"Got any idea what he meant by something else?" Devon asked.

I stayed silent for a moment. "That's a story for another time." I finally answered as Devon and Ravi looked at each other.

I grabbed another container that was on my Beast Bot, Harlem's, back. He was the Lion Beast Bot who I met after Nate activated him when Devon, Ravi, and Nate informed Commander Shaw about me being the new addition to the team.

Devon, Ravi, and I joined up with Nate as Devon's morpher beeped.

"Go ahead." Devon said.

"Blaze was spotted near City Hall. I'm sending you the coordinates." Commander Shaw informed.

"Got it." Devon told her as he turned off his morpher.

"A bunch of my X-Bikes are there. Blaze must be back for the Morph-X." Zoey stated.

"Go. The Beast Bots, Dacoda, and I will take care of the animals." Nate informed.

"Thanks, Nate." Zoey thanked him as the four of us headed off to City Hall.

We arrived at City Hall morphed as we fired at the needle, making it explode.

"No!" Blaze exclaimed before he looked at us.

"Nice aim, guys. Talk about a shot in the arm!" Devon commented.

Blaze tried to place his helmet on but it didn't work. "Looking a little staticky there, Blaze. Out of Morph-X?" I teased.

"Very funny, Black Ranger." Blaze told me before he grabbed a bike and raced off.

"Blaze is on the move!" Ravi exclaimed.

"Well, he's not the only one who knows how to ride! Let's go!" Zoey exclaimed.

The four of us grabbed bikes as we chased Blaze. "Keep your eyes on him!" Devon informed. We continued chasing him through a skatepark.

"Ravi, Trent, Zoey, go faster. We can catch him!" Devon told us.

"We're on it!" Zoey replied.

The four of us continued chasing Blaze through the streets, trying not to crash into the civilians.

"These roads are dangerous!" Zoey informed.

"We can't lose him!"

We flew over a car and eventually chased Blaze all the way to a warehouse. We ended up getting fired at as we fell to the ground.

"So, we have visitors." Roxy said.

"Yeah, I couldn't shake 'em." Blaze told her, joining her side.

"Hey, it's..." Ravi began to say. "Roxy?"

"Nice to see you too, Ravi." Roxy greeted.

"That's not Roxy. That's her evil avatar. Ignore her." Devon said before he spotted something. "Hey, that's Morph-X!"

"We've been stealing it from the X-Bikes, right under your noses, ever since you destroyed Needletron." Blaze informed.

"Then it's time to give it back." Ravi claimed.

"Uh-uh-uh! One tiny blast and the whole building goes..." Roxy trailed off as she pointed her weapon towards the barrel of Morph-X. "Boom."

Blaze chuckled. "And I'm sure your new teammate wouldn't want to lose his other arm like last time, isn't that right, Black Ranger?" He added on.

"Trent, what's he going on about?" Devon questioned.

"He doesn't know what he's talking about. He's just running his mouth." I answered. "There's no way they would know about my past as a former Ranger... at least I hope." I added in my head.

"A Ranger keeping secrets is never good." Blaze said as he held up his morpher. "Time to recharge."

"OK, Tronics, fill 'er up. I don't have all day."

"We gotta take them out. Follow my lead!" Devon told us as he used his cheetah speed to kick Roxy into a bunch of barrels.

Zoey used her jackrabbit jumping ability to kick Blaze while Ravi used his gorilla strength to punch him into some boxes.

"Devon, Ravi, Z! Cover your ears!" I warned as the three of them did so. I used my supersonic roar, aiming it towards the Robotrons who all fell to the ground.

Roxy then grabbed the four of us, throwing us to the ground as we groaned.

"Take as much Morph-X as you can to Scrozzle. I'll finish off the Rangers and bring the rest myself." Roxy ordered.

"Got it." Blaze agreed as him and the defeated Robotrons disappeared. Roxy then used her morpher to place her helmet on.

She then laughed evilly. "This is going to be fun." She claimed.

"Looks like things are just getting started." Devon commented.

Devon, Zoey, and I were dealing with Roxy. "Ravi, can you handle it?" Devon questioned.

"Yep, heading out now." Ravi answered.

"Ravi, I'll go with you!" I offered as I followed him out.

I headed towards my Zord which was an airplane. "The Black Ranger makes his debut! Harlem, let's do this!" I told my Beast Bot.

"Systems ready." Harlem informed.

"In position." I told him. "Ravi, you good?"

"All set." Ravi replied, appearing on screen.

"Harlem linked."

"Deploy Wheeler and Airplane Zord." Commander Shaw ordered.

"Deploying Wheeler and Airplane Zord."

Ravi and I both headed out in our Zords. As he used Gorilla Mode to make the Gigadrone slip on some bananas but he ended up getting back up.

Ravi and I ended up being attacked by the Gigadrone who ended up taking his Morph-X.

"Ravi, we got a problem." Smash informed.

"Trent, Ravi's in trouble!" Harlem stated.

"Right! Let me think! Hang on, Ravi!" I responded, pushing a couple of buttons.

"Lion Bullets!" I shouted as my Airplane Zord fired at the Gigadrone who fell back.

"Thanks for the cover, Trent!"

"I got your back, Ravi!"

That was when the Gigadrone grabbed onto both mine and Ravi's Zords and started draining them.

"Okay, I celebrated too soon." I commented.

Luckily, Devon came in just in time and saved us both as he fired at the Gigadrone.

"That was close. Thanks, Devon." Ravi said.

"Talk about good timing." I sighed in relief as Devon appeared on my screen.

"I'll take it from here." Devon informed us as he attacked the Gigadrone and changed into his Battle Mode.

"Transport Cheetah Beast Blaster!" Devon called out as the blaster appeared in his hand. "Racer Zord, Cheetah Strike!"

Devon slashed the Gigadrone as it exploded. "Virus eliminated." He said.

Devon, Ravi, Zoey, Nate, and I were at the forest as I stepped out of my car while Devon, Ravi, and Nate got out of theirs.

"Mom, where's the mayor? I wanna show him this cool new X-Bike design. Maybe it'll change his mind." Zoey told her mother.

"I guess he's running late, sweetie." Muriel informed.

"I told you, Zoey. My dad's stubborn. He's not gonna change his mind just because you 'coolifted' the X-Bikes." Devon stated.

"Maybe, but I'm not giving up." Zoey said.

"I'm so proud of you, sweetie." Muriel claimed, hugging Zoey.

A bell was heard in the distance. "Here comes the mayor." Ravi announced as we turned around and saw that he was riding an X-Bike.

"He's on an X-Bike!" Nate exclaimed.

Mayor Daniels stopped in front of us. "Dad, where's your limo?" Devon questioned.

"Why would I need a limo? This is a lot more fun. Just keeping with the trends, son." Mayor Daniels replied. "Didn't you see the news last night?"

His assistant brought out her phone as she showed us a video.

"Rangers on new Morph-X-powered bikes..." Muriel said as I saw the four of us on the bikes from when we were chasing Blaze.

"Mom, did you do this?" Zoey asked.

"I guess it went viral." Muriel responded.

"Sure did. And now from what I hear, everyone wants an X-Bike now." Mayor Daniels replied. "Yep, just like the Power Rangers. You did it, Zoey."

"Does that mean...?" Zoey trailed off.

"Sure does." Mayor Daniels told her as he turned around. "I hereby declare this road project permanently cancelled. And I'm very proud to announce we're ordering 5000 X-Bikes for the city."

Zoey softly gasped as Mayor Daniels turned back around. "Let's show the world how clean, green, Morph-X can make a difference." He stated as he placed the helmet back on.

"Now, if you'll all excuse me, I'm off to work." Mayor Daniels said as we all chuckled.

"I can't believe it. Mom, you're the best." Zoey informed as the two hugged.

"Oh. Hey, don't thank me. The Rangers are the ones who made your bikes look so fantastic." Muriel stated as Zoey chuckled softly.

"Oh, right." She said. "Thanks, Rangers... whoever you are."

"Just one more thing to do." Nate told her, holding a lizard as him and Zoey walked away with Devon, Ravi, and I right behind them.

"Come on, buddy. Your home is safe." Zoey told the lizard, placing it on the rock. "We'll bring your friends back to you real soon."

Another bell rang as we saw Ben and Betty on the two-person bike.

"Hi, guys." They both greeted.

"Ben, Betty, where have you been?" Nate questioned.

"That Robotron attack got us thinking. So we converted our X-Bike into..." Betty began as the bike separated. "Ta-da! X-Unibikeles."

"We're still working on the name." Ben added on.

The bikes soon got out of control as the two siblings crashed, making me wince.

"You know, now that I think about it. Ben and Betty remind me of these two certain idiots I used to go to high school with, but more funnier." I commented, remembering Victor and Monty as Devon, Ravi, Nate, and I all chuckled.

A/N: Wow, it's been forever since I've updated! But after four months I'm finally back! Also, Nate and Zoey are literally so cute. I love them both as a couple.

Also, I'm having Trent be great friends with Steel, it'll just make his "death" sadder for him :)
