A/N: Hey, y'all. So I got two ideas for how Trent could appear in Dino Fury as a cameo.

1) Void Knight captures him and turns him evil, making him attack the Dino Fury Rangers.

2) He helps Mick out in finding the Nexus Prism.

CHAPTER THIRTY - SECRET STRUGGLE

𝓣𝚁𝙴𝙽𝚃

IT WAS LATE AT NIGHT as I was at the base with Nate. I was wearing a black hoodie. "Wow, phenomenal." Nate commented as he picked up the saber. "The Beast-X King Spin Saber is ready to test."

"Whoo! Spin-tacular! Can I do it?" Betty asked, taking the saber from Nate.

"Oh, I'm not sure if that's a good idea." Nate whimpered. "Okay, uh, just grab the handle and spin it."

Betty let out a battle cry as she began spinning the saber. It went faster and faster until Betty was lifted into the air.

"Uh-oh."

"Oh, oh, oh. . ."

"Um, Betty. Betty?!" Ben exclaimed.

"Ah. . ."

Ben grabbed onto his sister's legs as he ended up going on the air with her as Betty screamed.

"Sis, I'm slipping!" Ben said.

They both screamed before they finally crashed into some barrels, causing them to groan in pain.

Nate and I rushed forward to see if they were okay. "Works perfectly!" Betty announced.

"Is it supposed to do that?" Ben asked.

"We'll put it in the transporter case." Betty informed as her and Ben left the room.

Steel soon walked into the room. "Hey, bro. Any chance you could help me tweak the stabilizers on my Zord? Last time I went into Scarab mode it almost bugged out on me." Steel said. "Get it, bugged out on me, 'cause it's a beetle and. . ."

"I-I get it, Steel." Nate interjected. "But it's late, and I've been working on the Spin Saber with Trent's help all day. How about tomorrow?"

"Oh. Okay, then." Steel replied as Zoey entered.

"Hey, boys." She greeted.

"Hi, Zoey." Nate greeted back.

"Check out these diagnostics from the Chopper Zord's controls. Something's off." Zoey informed.

"You're right. I'll double check your entire system tonight." Nate said.

"Tonight? Really?" Zoey questioned.

"But you said you were exhausted." Steel reminded him.

"Anything you need, Zoey. No problem." Nate told her. "Bye."

"I don't get it. I just asked Nate to work on my Zord and he said he was too tired. But you ask the same thing and suddenly he's—" Steel gasped as if he made a realization.

"Wait a sec. Does my brother like you? I mean, 'like you' like you?!" Steel asked.

"You just now noticed?" I questioned. "It was pretty obvious from the start."

"Nate? 'Like me' like me? No. Trust me, dating is the last thing on my mind. Um, I, uh— I gotta go." Zoey said, grabbing her bag and revealing a magazine, getting Steel's attention.

"Gimme that!" Zoey exclaimed.

"But what is it?" Steel questioned, grabbing the magazine.

"Nothing." Zoey answered as she tried to grab the magazine from Steel.

"'The ultimate guide to first dates?'" Steel read out.

"Okay, Okay, Okay!" Zoey shouted as she looked around. "You can't tell anyone, but the truth is, Nate and I. . . both like each other."

"That's awesome!" Steel exclaimed out.

"Shh! It isn't awesome at all, 'cause Rangers dating Rangers is against Battleforce rules." Zoey explained.

"What? That's a silly rule." Steel said.

I snorted. "Yeah, I said the exact same thing." I commented.

"People say love is the best thing in the world. What could possibly be the harm in dating?" Steel asked.

Zoey sighed. "Who knows. But Nate and I aren't going to break the rules." She replied.

"I hear you, Zoey. I won't tell the others." Steel said as Zoey left the room.

"Trent." Steel then turned to me.

"The answer is no, Steel."

"But I haven't even said anything!"

"Because I know what you're going to ask." I looked over at him. "I want them together, too. But they'll be extremely mad if they found out that's what we're doing."

"Who says they have to know?" Steel countered.

I thought about it for a moment. "All right. Whatever you have planned, I'm in." I finally agreed.

It was the next day as we were all at the base. Mayor Daniels had been attacked by Robo-Roxy, according to Zoey.

"Frankly, Mayor Daniels, the fact that Evox is targeting you is very concerning. We need to take every precaution." Commander Shaw as Nate placed a tracker in him.

"Ouch!" Mayor Daniels exclaimed.

"Sorry. I've implanted a micro tracker inside you." Nate explained.

"A tracker?!" Mayor Daniels repeated.

"Yeah." Nate replied.

"Who gave you permission to—?" Mayor Daniels started to say, causing me to raise an eyebrow in suspicion.

"Sorry, sir." Nate apologized.

"Is that really necessary?" Mayor Daniels asked.

"Now, if Evox captures you, we can find you, no matter where you are." Nate replied.

"And to prevent that from ever happening, two Rangers will act as your undercover bodyguards. I need two volunteers." Commander Shaw added on.

"Zoey and Nate will do it." Steel volunteered the two, grabbing onto their shoulders.

"Um, of course we're up for the task." Zoey said.

"Sure. You can count on us, Mr Mayor." Nate added on.

"Fine. But I have lunch with the Canadian ambassador this afternoon. You'll need to keep your distance." Mayor Daniels informed.

"Don't worry, sir, I'll get them some supplies to help maintain their cover." Steel said, leaving the room.

"Excuse me. I need to make an important call to. . . Hong Kong." Mayor Daniels informed as he left.

"Hey, guys! We've been helping Steel and Trent get ready for your. . . secret mission." Betty whisper-shouted.

"Trust me, you need to see what Ben and Betty made for you." Steel said as Ben opened a case.

"Here we are. They're Clothing Capsules." Ben held one up.

"Perfect for a quick disguise." Betty added on as Ben threw the time capsule at Nate.

"Whoa, wait. What the—?"

Nate was dressed in a tuxedo. "Ben! I—" Zoey began as Ben threw the next capsule towards Zoey, who changed into a yellow dress.

"Oh my God."

Both Ben and Betty looked like they were about to tear up. "I think you both are going way overboard with this. They're not going to some high school prom. It's an undercover mission." I informed, but stopped when I saw how Nate and Zoey looked at each other.

"Nice." Zoey complimented before clearing her throat. "But, um. . ."

"We're supposed to blend in, not stand out." Nate finished.

"Nonsense! You two make quite a pair." Steel said.

"No problem. Let's try another one." Ben threw a capsule but it ended up hitting Steel, showing him in a pink sparkly dress.

"I love it! So sparkly." Steel exclaimed as I got out my phone and snapped a picture. "Trent! You better delete that!"

"No way! This is perfect blackmail." I laughed at Steel. "I have a whole album dedicated to Preston's failed magic tricks. I gotta make a new one for you."

"Come on! I thought we were best friends!"

"Best friends do this to each other, Steel!"

"Thanks, guys, but I think our regular clothes will do the trick." Nate said.

"No prob. Always happy to help." Betty stated.

"Bye, you two." Zoey bid farewell to the two siblings as they left.

"Wait, I have another idea. How about this?" Steel questioned holding a bouquet of roses and chocolate. "Picture yourself sitting in the gardens watching the Mayor, sharing some chocolates with a dozen roses."

"Wait a sec. That's heart-shaped. Are you setting up a date?!" Nate accused.

"It's okay, bro. Zoey told me you like each other, so I'm here to help." Steel said.

Zoey sighed. "He figured it out himself. But we're not going on a date, so you can stop." She informed.

"But. . ." Steel sighed. "Fine."

"The Mayor is in a hurry, and now we gotta go get changed. See you later, Steel, Trent." Nate said. Zoey soon followed him out, but not before giving a disappointing glance at Steel.

"Actually, you will see me later." Steel stated.

Steel and I secretly sneaked over to the bench where Zoey and Nate were. "Noodles, hey? Hm, well, hello. Just what I need." Steel said, grabbing a stick and reaching over, knocking over the noodles.

Nate sighed. "I'm so clumsy." He claimed.

"No worries. Here, we can share mine." Zoey offered.

"Thanks." Nate said, scooting closer to Zoey.

"Yes! Our work here is done." Steel cheered as him and I gave each other a high five before departing.

I was at the base next to Steel. "But when I needed you, you weren't there!" Mayor Daniels scolded.

"It's our fault, Commander." Nate said.

"This kind of mistake isn't like the two of you. I had a feeling that there was more to the story." Commander Shaw said. "So I checked the garden's surveillance cameras, and I found this. . ."

Commander Shaw pressed a button, showing Nate and Zoey almost near kissing.

"Oh!"

"I am so sorry. That was my fault."

The screen changed back to the Grid Battleforce logo as Commander Shaw turned around. "Tell me this isn't what it looks like." She said.

"Hold on. You guys are a thing?!" Devon questioned in shock.

"I had no idea." Ravi commented.

"It seems no one did." Commander Shaw said as Nate and Zoey glanced at each other. "Well? Is it true?"

"Yes." Zoey sighed in defeat. "The truth is, Nate and I. . . have feelings for each other."

"We have for months, but—" Nate started to say.

"No buts! You know dating is a violation of the rules. I expected better from you." Commander Shaw scolded.

I decided to step in. "With all due respect, Commander. That rule is kinda. . . Um, how do I put this in the nicest way? Really dumb." I said.

"Excuse me?" Commander Shaw questioned as Ravi gave me the signal to stop talking.

"Feelings are apart of being human, romantic ones especially. You can't control how Z and Nate feel for each other. Calvin and Hayley, Brody and Sarah, Aiden and I. Those are just some examples of Rangers who dated each other while saving the world. My original team had no problems with that. We were still able to do our job." I explained. "Besides, it's not entirely their fault."

"Trent's right. Nate and Zoey didn't want to break the rules, but I wanted to see them happy, so I. . ." Steel trailed off.

"So you what?" Nate and Zoey asked in unison.

"So I sort of, kinda, spilled your bowl of noodles so you'd have to share Zoey's bowl." Steel finished.

"You followed us?" Nate questioned.

"Well, yeah." Steel replied.

"I tagged along with him." I added, raising my hand.

"What use is a rule if all it does is make good people unhappy?" Steel asked.

"Kind of a good question. That rule sure made me and Roxy miserable." Ravi added in.

"Rules are made to be followed. Can we wrap this up?" Mayor Daniels asked.

"Rules are also made to be broken. Why are you in such a hurry, Mr Mayor? Got somewhere to be?" I countered as my eyes flashed green momentarily, causing Mayor Daniels to gulp.

"I have an important meeting to get to." Mayor Daniels replied as he coughed before leaving.

"Son, you'll replace Nate on the Mayor's detail. Do not leave his side." Commander Shaw ordered.

"Yes, ma'am." Ravi responded.

"We'll finish this discussion later. Go." Commander Shaw said as Zoey followed Ravi out.

"Commander, a Robotron has just attacked." Zoey announced.

"Copy that. And a Gigadrone detector has gone off in Sector Romeo 2-1. I've sent Devon to deal with it. Go assist Ravi and Zoey." Commander Shaw told Nate, Steel, and I.

"Yes, ma'am." Steel said as we headed off.

"Devon, you better take care of my partner or you and I are gonna have some serious problems." I think to myself.

Nate, Steel, and I soon arrived. "Ravi, you're burning up! You could overheat!" Nate informed.

"I know. I need a minute." Ravi replied. "Go!"

"Come on!" Steel exclaimed as Nate, Steel, and I rushed towards Tiaratron.

The three of us began fighting Tiaratron as she laughed. "I thought gold and silver were supposed to shine." Tiaratron exclaimed as she attacked us.

Ravi was good enough to come back in and began attacking. "Time to pump things up." Ravi claimed.

"Visor, linked." Both Ravi and I said. "Activate Beast-X Mode!"

"Beast-X Mode, ready."

I glowed green and black. "Poisonous Lion Slash!" I shouted, slashing through Tiaratron.

"Gorilla slam! Ya!" Ravi exclaimed, knocking Tiaratron back.

"You've cracked my jewels!" Tiaratron whimpered before going up in flames.

"Well done." Mayor Daniels praised as we regrouped with Nate and Zoey. "Thanks. It seems I really owe you two. You saved me again."

Devon continued dodging Tiaradrone's attacks. "Transport Cheetah Beast Blaster!" Devon shouted as the blaster appeared in his hands. "King Combo Strike!"

Tiaradrone went up in flames. "Virus eliminated." Devon announced.

We had entered the main room as Steel was supporting Nate while I was supporting Zoey. Ravi and Devon followed behind us along with Mayor Daniels.

"Well done, team." Commander Shaw congratulated us. "I'm relieved everyone is safe."

"Commander, we haven't been dating. We may disagree with the rule, but we're not gonna break it if it means jeopardizing the team." Nate said.

"Did my speech just fly over his head?" I wondered as Mayor Daniels coughed.

"I believe you, Nate." Commander Shaw stood up from her seat. "I saw the way you two fought together today, and it's clear to me now you're a great team because of your relationships, not in spite of them. I don't change the rules often, but when I do, it's only for a good reason."

"Does that mean. . . ?!" Steel trailed off.

"Yes, Steel, it does. The rule is 'toast,' as you might say." Commander Shaw announced.

"Yeah! I did it!" Steel cheered.

"We did it." I reminded him, shoving him a little.

"That's what I meant. We did it." Steel corrected, causing me to chuckle before doing mine and Steel's handshake that we made up.

"You two can be together!" Steel said.

Zoey holds out her hand as Nate joined hands with her. "So, you wanna see a movie tonight?" Zoey asked.

"Affirmative. It's a date." Nate replied.

Mayor Daniels then coughed loudly, getting our attention. "Dad, are you okay?" Devon questioned in concern.

"I'm not well." Mayor Daniels answered and rushed out of the room. "No!"

"Dad!" Devon called out, making us rush out to follow him.

We followed him outside of the base as Mayor Daniels kneeled down, Devon at his side.

"Dad!"

"Get away from me!" Mayor Daniels shouted, pushing Devon back.

"Devon, stay back!" I told him, grabbing onto Devon's jacket sleeve.

"But Trent—!" Devon tried to protest.

"Stay back! I got a bad—"

My sentence was cut off as Mayor Daniels glowed purple, turning into Evox.

"No, I am not your father." Evox claimed as he attacked us, making us all collapse to the ground.

"The Mayor is gone. Best you forget about him." Evox laughed evilly as all of us stood up.

"You may have learned my secret, but soon the Morphin Grid will be mine!" Evox exclaimed before disappearing.

"Evox and my dad are. . . in the same body?" Devon questioned in disbelief.
