CHAPTER SEVENTEEN - GORILLA ART

𝓣𝚁𝙴𝙽𝚃

ALL OF US ARRIVED TO the park to find Smash painting on a wall. I was wearing a black hoodie. "Smash?" Ravi questioned.

"What is he doing?" Zoey asked.

"He's painting, right? Even I know that." Steel replied.

"I think this is my favorite color." Smash said.

Ben and Betty then showed up drenched. "What happened to you two?" Steel asked.

"Don't ask." Ben responded.

"But he was like that when we got here." Betty added on.

"Since when is Smash such an artist?" Zoey questioned.

"Never. Not unless somebody reprogrammed him." Nate answered.

That's when a Robotron suddenly appeared. "Ben and Betty, get out of here!" Devon told the two siblings.

"You don't have to tell us twice!" Ben exclaimed.

"Targets locked." Turbotron said before Blaze and Roxy showed up.

"Oh look, it's Vincent Van Gogh-rilla." Blaze commented.

"How cute!" Roxy added.

"It's time to send these guys flying. It's morphin' time!" Devon said as all of us got out our morphers.

"Activate Beast Power!" We all shouted out as we morphed.

"Unleash the Beast!"

We all headed for Blaze, Roxy, and Turbotron as we began fighting them. We got blasted by Roxy as we all fell to the ground.

"Too easy! Turbotron, capture that Beast Bot!" Roxy ordered as Turbotron cackled.

Blaze then began attacking us to prevent us from getting to Smash. Roxy eventually joined in on the fight.

"He's taking Smash!" Devon shouted out.

Devon and Ravi went to go rescue Smash from Turbotron.

We eventually regrouped with Ravi and Smash. "Hey! So, we sent Blaze and Roxy packing. How'd you guys do?" Devon questioned.

"We're fine. The Robotron's toast." Ravi answered. "We'd better get back to base."

Two cars suddenly arrived. "Hey! Right on cue." Steel stated.

"Come on, Smash." Ravi said as all of us headed towards the cars.

All of us had eventually made it back to the base. "Hey! Glad you guys are OK." Devon told Ravi and Smash.

"Let's see how you're doing, Smash." Nate said.

"Oh, sounds good."

"What are you gonna do?" Ravi questioned.

"We need to determine why Smash is obsessed with creating art. It's a waste of time for any member of Grid Battleforce, let alone one of the Beast Bots." Commander Shaw responded.

"We can't have him run off again. It's too dangerous." Nate informed.

"Yeah, of course." Ravi agreed.

"So why is Smash suddenly painting murals?" Zoey questioned.

"Let's find out." Nate replied as he looked over to Smash. "Enter program mode."

Smash then shuts down. "Now, let's see." Nate said as his eyes were on the computer. "That's odd. Smash's Zord interface systems are corrupted."

"Then we can't use the Wheeler Zord." Devon pointed out.

"Smash must be fixed before we need his Zord. Get to it." Commander Shaw said as she left the room.

"Looks like someone tampered with Smash's programming." Nate informed.

"Who would do that?" Zoey asked.

"Guys. . . it was me." Ravi admitted.

"You? But why?" Nate questioned.

"Because. . . I'm the artist, not Smash." Ravi revealed.

"Wait a second. You paint? This is a joke, right?" Devon asked, making me whack the back of his head harshly. "Ouch!"

"Don't be such a jerk." I told him.

"No. I'm serious." Ravi stated. He let out a sigh as he turned back around, grabbing a piece of paper and handing it to Nate.

"Smash saw me painting, so I tried to erase his memory cache. But I might've pressed a wrong button. . . or two." Ravi explained.

"You painted this?" Zoey asked. Ravi nodded in reply as Zoey chuckled. "Ravi, it's good."

"Really good." Devon added on.

"You've got amazing talent, dude." I agreed.

"You think?" Ravi said.

"Phenomenal." Nate commented.

"Thanks, guys. That means a lot." Ravi told us as he took the painting back. "I've been keeping it a secret because I don't want my mom to find out. You saw how she reacted to Smash's painting."

"Yeah. She's not really a fan of the arts." I stated as Devon's communicator beeped.

"Rangers, come in. Break-in reported at a Morph-X factory warehouse in Sector Delta 1–3. Get there fast."

"Delta 1–3. Roger that." Devon repeated as he turned off his communicator as we headed out.

"Over there!" Steel called out as we saw a hooded figure gathering Morph-X.

"Hey, you! Step away from the Morph-X!" Devon ordered.

The hooded figure gasped. "Rangers?" He spoke as we got into a fighting stance.

"Oh no! I don't wanna hurt you, but. . . I will!" The hooded figure claimed, grabbing out a weapon.

We all ducked for cover as the mysterious figure fired his gun at the wall.

"You missed. . . but we won't. It's morphin' time!" Devon said as we pressed our communicators, revealing our morphers.

"Activate Beast Power!" We all shouted in unison. We got covered in mist of our respective color as we morphed.

"Unleash the Beast!"

All of us then began fighting the mysterious figure. "This is all going wrong! Scrozzle, I need your help against these powerful Rangers!" He informed. "Get them off my back, now!"

We continued fighting the hooded figure as Devon's communicator beeped.

"Let me guess, incoming Gigadrone?" Devon asked.

"Roger that, and Nate's still working on Smash. We're deploying the Racer Zord and sending Cruise to pick you up." Commander Shaw replied.

"Go. We can handle this lightweight." I reassured.

"Thanks." Devon said as he took off to take care of the Gigadrone.

He got into Battle Mode. "Where's the Gigadrone?" Devon questioned.

"Devon, I'm detecting something coming from overhead." Cruise informed.

"What?"

He looked up to see Turbodrone flying in the air as he fired at Devon who ended up getting knocked down.

Ravi, Zoey, Steel and I were still dealing with the unknown figure.

"I'll destroy you!" He exclaimed.

"Not if we tie you up!" Steel shot back.

"Cable Strike!"

The four of us ended up tying up the figure. "Please! Let me go!" He pleaded as my communicator beeped.

"The Gigadrone is airborne. I could use a little air support." Devon informed.

"Z and I are on our way!" I reassured as I nodded over to Zoey. "Take care of this creep, OK?"

"On it!" Steel replied as Zoey and I headed off to help Devon.

Turbodrone then fired at the tower and began draining the Morph-X. "We have to stop it from draining the Morph-X tower." Devon informed. "Come on, Cruise."

Devon then began pressing some buttons. "I can't get to it up there!" He exclaimed.

Zoey and I then appeared in our Zords. "Our time to shine!" Jax said.

"Right. Let's fly." Zoey agreed.

"Onward Jax!"

"Let's get 'em, Harlem!"

Turbodrone then blasted some turbine air at Zoey and I. "Argh! I'm losing control!" She exclaimed.

"Not good!" I shouted out.

The both of us ended up flying away. "I guess flying isn't the answer." Cruise commented.

"Then we're gonna have to try and get up there ourselves." Devon claimed.

Ravi and Steel had finally cornered the hooded figure.

Steel laughed drily. "He's trapped. I can take it from here." He told Ravi.

"Great. I'll go help Devon. Good luck." Ravi said as he headed off.

"Now we're alone, you're gonna tell me Evox's plan." Steel informed.

"If it's just the two of us, there's no need for this charade!"

He then took off the cloak and he cackled evilly and started fighting Steel.

"What's going on?" Steel questioned.

"You'll regret facing the mighty Vargoyle alone!" Vargoyle exclaimed.

"Ready to try this? Redirecting Morph-X to thrusters."

Devon's Zord then flew into the air but ended up missing and landing back on the ground.

"Now what do we do, Devon?" Cruise asked as Devon grunted in frustration.

"Someone need a boost?" Ravi questioned as he appeared in his Wheeler Zord.

"The higher the better." Devon replied.

"Ready when you are." Ravi informed.

Devon jumped onto Ravi's Zord as the boost helped him get into the sky. "Transport Cheetah Beast Blaster!" Devon shouted as the blaster appeared in his hands.

"Racer Zord, Cheetah Strike!" Devon shouted out, slashing through the Gigadrone as it exploded in the air. "Virus eliminated."

"And. . . stuck the landing."

All of us were at the park, cleaning the mural that Smash had made off of the walls while Ravi was apologizing to Smash.

"All done!" Betty exclaimed. "Time for a break, little bro."

"Thanks guys for all your help." Ben thanked us.

"Any time."

"Betty, wait!" Ben warned as Betty sat down. "Heads up!"

The two soap buckets ended up falling onto both Ben and Betty's heads.

"Should've seen that coming." Ben commented as we all laughed at them.
