CHAPTER ONE - BACK IN BLACK, PART 1

𝓣𝚁𝙴𝙽𝚃

I WAS SAYING GOODBYE TO my friends. I was wearing a green jumper with denim jeans and white sneakers. "So, you're really leaving, huh?" Calvin asked. I chuckled.

"You're acting like I'm not going to come back." I stated as I hugged him. I then hugged Hayley and Preston. I hugged Sarah who let go of Brody's hand to hug me back. I stood in front of Brody.

"Treat Sarah well, alright? I won't be afraid to come back and knock some sense into you." I playfully threatened.

"I don't think you have to worry about that." Brody told me as he kissed Sarah's cheek. Then, he bro hugged me. Lastly, I stood in front of Levi.

"Good luck on your tour, Aiden." I told him as I hugged him with my only arm and kissed him.

"You as well, Trent. Good luck with your internship." Levi said.

"Hey, don't forget about us, okay?" Preston said.

"I could never forget any of you." I informed.

Hayley and Calvin finished up putting the last of my bags in the trunk of my Jeep Wrangler. "Thanks, guys." I said.

I opened the drivers door and hopped in. I placed my green backpack in the passenger seat and closed the door. I started my car and began driving, looking at all of my friends and husband in the review mirror.

I arrived in Coral Harbor as I parked. I hopped out of my car as I closed the driver's side and locked it. I headed into the building where my internship was. I took a look around.

"Can I help you with something?" The secretary asked.

"Oh, yeah. I'm looking for Adam Daniels. I signed up for an internship here." I replied.

"Follow me." The secretary said as I followed her through a hallway. We entered Mr. Daniels office.

"Sir, the new intern is here." The secretary informed.

"Perfect. Thank you." Mr. Daniels said as he got up. "I'm Adam Daniels. You must be Trent Weston."

"That's me, sir." I said.

"Any relation to the singer, Levi Weston?" Mr. Daniels questioned.

"He's my husband." I answered. Mr. Daniels just nodded as he gestured for me to follow him out of his office.

He was busy explaining things that were happening. "If it's okay with you, what happened to your arm?" Mr. Daniels suddenly asked.

"Huh?" I questioned, confused on what he was talking about.

"I couldn't help but notice your left arm is missing. I'm guessing accident?" Mr. Daniels asked.

"Something like that." I replied. We continued walking. That's when we walked passed a room with a bunch of men and woman in it.

"Are they okay?" I asked.

"Ah, yes. They'll be fine. This is a base for the Power Rangers as we are trying to protect the Morphin' Grid itself. And we are dealing with an evil more powerful than Rita Repulsa, Sledge, and Galvanax." Mr. Daniels explained.

"I don't know. Both Galvanax and Odius were pretty ugly." I wanted to say, remembering when Madame Odius robbed me of my left arm in the final battle I had with the Ninja Steel Rangers.

"These were the cadets for the Lion DNA. Our tech guy, Nate, said that none of them passed to having the Lion DNA inside them. They're okay, just will be out for a few days." Mr. Daniels finished explaining. I only nodded.

Mr. Daniels suddenly got a call as he excused himself. I started to have a look around. I stopped in a certain room. I looked and saw that no one was in there as I walked in. I saw something on a screen that looked like a Black Ranger. I stepped into a panel.

"Cool." I muttered.

"Initiating Morphing Sequence." I heard over the system.

I suddenly got surrounded by black mist as I looked down. I saw that I was a Black Ranger. I noticed that it also had a robotic arm just like I had.

"That will come in handy in battles." I thought. That's when a red alarm blared throughout the room.

"Not good." I said. I demorphed as quickly got out of the room and ran down the hall. "Excuse me!" I shouted to people who were in my way.

"Hey, stop!" Someone from behind me shouted. I was hearing people talking from miles away.

"Whoever that was, they connected to the Lion DNA." A voice, most likely a girl, said. I got out of the building and in my car.

I closed the door as I took a deep breath. I took out my phone and called Levi.

"Trent? How's Coral Harbor treating you?" He asked.

"I think I made a mistake, Aiden. I'm telling Mr. Daniels that that I can't do the internship and I'm coming back to Summer Cove." I replied.

"No, Trent. Don't. Listen, the point of this internship was to get away from Summer Cove, correct?" Levi said.

"Yeah." I replied. I decided to change the subject.

"How is it over there since I left anyway?" I asked.

"Boring without you. Though, Calvin had just recently proposed to Hayley. So Sarah has been making a bachelorette party for her." Levi explained.

"Poor Brody. He has to deal with an excited girlfriend." I stated.

Levi chuckled. I heard Brody's voice in the background. "I have to go, Trent. I love you." Levi said.

"I love you too, Aiden." I replied as I hung up. I sighed as I looked at my missing arm, remembering the time where I had to get it amputated.

(Flashback)

We had finally defeated Odius. I panted as I was the first to demorph. "Guys!" I shouted, gaining my friends attention.

"Trent? What's wrong?" Levi questioned.

"My arm. I can't feel it." I responded.

"Let's go. We'll take you to Mick and see what's wrong." Calvin said as both him and Levi helped me up.

We had arrived at the the base. "Mick! We need your help! Trent's injured." Levi called out as both Mick, Dane, Jeremiah and Redbot looked at us.

Mick then took a look at my arm. "Trent, I'm gonna need to put you asleep while I fix your arm." He informed.

"All right."

A few minutes later, I woke up, the pain in arm was gone.

"Why are you all looking at me like that?" I asked as I pushed myself up.

Their eyes were looking at my left arm. I looked over and saw a robotic arm where my left arm should be.

"I see now..." I said.

"Mick couldn't save your arm. So he had to amputate it and make a robotic arm for you." Preston explained.

Levi sensed my sadness. "Hey, Trent. Babe, listen to me. This doesn't make you any different. I still love you." He said.

"It's not your fault guys. It's Odius's. Even though we destroyed her... this is a permanent injury that I'll have forever." I stated.

"We're here for you, Trent. Always." Calvin told me as everyone else nodded in agreement.

"Thanks, guys. I'm glad to have amazing friends like you. After all we've been through together, I say we're more like family." I stated. He looked at each one of his friends, then he looked at his fiancé.

"I'm really glad I met all of them... No one could replace them. They're one of a kind."

(End Flashback)

My flashback was interrupted when I heard screams. "Sheesh, I don't have time for this." I muttered as I got out of my car and raced towards the commotion. I spotted three Power Rangers fighting some bots and two evil looking Rangers.

I took out my new morpher as it changed. "Activate Beast Power!" I shouted as I locked my morpher in and got covered in black mist with a lion head sticking out. I transformed back into the Black Ranger.

"Hey!" I shouted, getting Avatar Blaze's attention. "Why don't you pick on someone your own size!"

"Another Ranger?" Avatar Blaze questioned.

"I don't have time for this. What's it with you? Mommy didn't give you enough attention so you decided to go all baddie baddie?" I asked as I heard the Red Ranger snicker a bit.

"Lion Lance!" I shouted as I tapped the button on my right shoulder and a black lance appeared.

"Robotrons!" Avatar Blaze called out as multiple robots appeared.

"Ugh, Kudobots knock offs." I thought.

"Let's dance." I said, swinging my lance with my right arm.

I started fighting the Robotrons like it was a second nature. Well, it was a second nature to me. It amazed me that even after a year I still fought like I always did.

I guess what my dad said was true.

You can take the ninja out of the fight, but you can't take the fight out of the ninja.

I finished off the Robotrons and walked up to Avatar Blaze. "You're next, blondie." I informed.

"Perhaps next time, Black Ranger." Avatar Blaze replied as he disappeared.

"Why do they always run?" I think to myself, remembering the first time I changed into the Green Ninja Steel Ranger, the same thing had happened.

I turned back to look at the three Rangers. "I hate to cut our first meeting short, but I really must get going." I informed.

"Wait!" The Yellow Ranger exclaimed.

I took off before she had a chance to stop me. Once I was in the clear, I demorphed. I headed back to my car and got in the driver's seat.

I sat there for a few minutes, trying to wrap my head around the events that took place. "So, I'm a Ranger again and I have a new team, just what I needed." I mumbled to myself.

"And on top of it, there's new villains! Evil doesn't really sleep, does it?" I muttered as I groaned. Then, I chuckled.

"Wait until I tell Cal his successor is a girl. I always did tease him that yellow was a girl color." I thought before I stopped.

"Hold that thought, I absolutely cannot tell them about this. I can't tell the others I became a Ranger again and have a new team. All of us are still a team even though we're — I mean, they — are no longer fighting evil. It's not fair to the other Ninja Steel Rangers. I can't have them think that I've forgotten about them." I noted before starting my car up.

I wasn't going to get close to my new Ranger team.

I wasn't even going to count them as family.

Because in my eyes, the Ninja Steel Rangers were my only family.

And that's all I needed.
