Chapter Nineteen: Rewriting History.

A/N: One of my classmates that I went to middle/high school with died last Sunday, and it's all I can think about for the past week. So I'm writing to take my mind off of it.

I'm perfectly okay, by the way. I didn't know the dude, but I still had classes with him.

Enjoy!

CHAPTER NINETEEN - REWRITING HISTORY

𝓣𝚁𝙴𝙽𝚃

"THERE YOU ARE. We've been looking all over for you." Nate told Steel as we all rushed up towards him. I was wearing a black button-up shirt.

"What's so fascinating?" Nate then asked.

"I was wondering, is having a pet a common thing for humans?" Steel questioned.

"Totally. They're great companions." Zoey responded. "I used to have a pet hamster named Luna."

"Mom gave me a turtle named Napoleon when I was six. We used to swim in the bathtub together." Ravi stated.

We all laughed at that. "We have a cat named Sabi, sleeps on my legs every night." Devon added in.

"Then that's it, it's time I really explore my human side. I'm getting a pet." Steel announced.

Zoey scoffed. "You. . . are gonna look after a pet?" She asked.

"Sure. Why not?" Steel countered.

"Caring for an animal is a big responsibility." Ravi replied.

We all nodded in agreement as Devon let out a chuckle. "You're an. . ." He paused, looking around before continuing quietly. "awesome Ranger, but not exactly pet-owner material."

"Give me some credit. I can totally take care of a pet on my own. Remember, I have animal DNA in me, I'll be a natural." Steel reassured.

"That's not—" I let out a defeated sigh. "I'm not even gonna bother."

"Tell you what, bro. . . if you can take care of a potted plant for a whole week, I'll take you pet shopping." Nate promised.

Steel laughed. "Piece of cake. But where do I get a plant?" He questioned.

We all laughed at his question. "Come on, I'll take you to the flower shop." Devon told him.

"Great! You won't regret this." Steel said as the pair headed off.

"No, but the plant might." Zoey stated as she chuckled before we followed them.

.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.

I was walking through the base when I suddenly bumped into Zoey. "Z? I thought you were in the lab with Nate." I told her as she looked at me in confusion.

"I'm sorry. Do we. . . do we know each other?" Zoey asked.

I let out a chuckle. "Very funny, Z. I'm Trent. Your best friend. We're Rangers." I told her.

"What are you talking about? Blaze, Roxy, and Ravi are the Power Rangers. I'm just the laundry girl." Zoey said. "Weirdo."

I watched as she walked away. "Blaze and Roxy? What in the world is going on?" I wondered.

"I gotta find the others. I'm getting a major sense of deja vu."

I headed out of Grid Battleforce, walking past Zoey, Nate, and Ravi who were talking with Blaze and Roxy.

"Steel!" I called out, running towards him.

"Trent. Please tell me you know what's going on." Steel said.

I let out a sigh. "I wish I knew. For some reason, Z doesn't remember me. It's like I never existed in her memory." I replied. "I'm just relieved to see that you're still the same."

"First Devon doesn't remember being a Ranger, and now this?" Steel questioned, before he realized something. "Wait! That's gotta be their evil plan! Evox has done something to mess with everyone's memories."

I let out a scoff. "The whole stealing memories plan. How classic. I went though this situation with the Ninja Steel Rangers. It's really starting to get old. Why can't villains be original for once?" I questioned.

"Then how come you remember stuff?" Devon asked.

"Well, I guess because I'm one of a kind. The bad guys always forget that I'm half-human, half-robot. Their mind tricks don't fool my circuits." Steel responded before turning to me. "That doesn't explain how you remember things, Trent."

"I was in a car accident seven years ago. I had gotten amnesia as a result. I guess my mind had created some sort of wall to protect my memories from ever getting erased again." I explained.

"Hey!"

The three of us looked up seeing Ben and Betty. "You three are trespassing!" Betty exclaimed.

"Ben and Betty must be affected too." Steel pointed out.

"Those are Grid Battleforce communicators." Ben informed.

"Who'd you steal those from? Hand 'em over." Betty ordered.

"Where did this come from?" Devon asked.

"Uh. . ."

"Well. . ."

"Sure. Take it." Devon said, walking forward.

"No, Devon, wait!" Steel tried to stop him.

Devon handed Betty his communicator. "Mm-mm, yours too, buster! And yours, as well!" Betty told Steel and I.

"Sorry, guys, but this is mine." Steel informed.

"Then you leave us no choice." Betty said.

"Grab them." Ben told her.

"You two are coming with us!" Betty stated.

"Hey!" Steel protested.

Betty began pulling Steel as I tried to stop her. "Careful, guys! Spot's fragile! Detach arm!" Steel said as his arm became detached.

"Follow us. Hurry!" Steel said to Devon as the three of us headed off.

"Ok, good, I think we're in the clear." Steel informed as his hand trailed behind us. "Ah, there you are. Detachable limbs sure are handy." Steel reattaches his arm. "But now they've got both our Wrist Comms. We need them to access our Morphers."

"Ben must've managed to slip mine off when I was trying to fight against Betty." I pointed out, noticing my wrist comm was also missing.

"Well, what's a Morpher?" Devon asked.

"It's what turns us into Power Range—" Steel started to explain before he gasped, cutting off his sentence. "No!"

"Ah! We meet again!" Vargoyle announced.

"Jeez. Who is that?" Devon questioned.

"Vargoyle, Evox's newest and sneakiest recruit." Steel answered.

"If I had to take a guess, he's the reason your memory is all haywire— along with everyone else's." I added on.

"So, you two remember me, huh? Then Scrozzle's Memory Pulse didn't work on everyone after all." Vargoyle claimed. "I should rip that Pulsator off the broadcast tower and make him eat it!"

"Broadcast tower? Well, there's one at the TV station." Devon informed.

"Which means it's perfectly positioned to send a signal over the whole city." Steel said.

"Look at you, Bolt-head, getting all clever. Too bad you won't be able to tell anyone!" Vargoyle roared as he got into a fighting position.

"Hold Spot for me, will ya? I got this!" Steel reassured. "Trent, come on!"

"Right behind you!" I told him.

The two of us engaged into a fight with Vargoyle. "What's the matter, can't morph?" Vargoyle asked us.

"Hey, leave my new robo-buddy and friend alone!" Devon shouted, hitting Vargoyle with a metal pipe and handing Steel his plant. "Here."

"Nice save. Thanks!" Steel thanked him.

"Don't worry. I got your back." Devon reassured us.

"Careful, Devon." I warned.

Devon then began fighting Vargoyle with the metal pipe. "Wait here, Spot." Steel said, setting his plant down.

The two of us headed for Vargoyle once more as Devon crashed into Steel.

"I'm not done yet!" Vargoyle claimed, throwing Devon and I to the ground. I clenched my chest in pain.

Vargoyle went to destroy Steel's plant, but Devon used his cheetah speed and caught it on time.

"Whoa! Great catch!" Steel complimented.

"How did I do that?" Devon asked in confusion.

"It's the Cheetah DNA inside of you." I replied.

"You have super-speed powers!" Steel added onto my sentence.

"I do? Then. . . I am a Power Ranger." Devon concluded.

"I've been trying to tell you!" Steel exclaimed.

"Let's go. How do I morph?" Devon asked.

"You gotta get our Wrist Comms back." Steel responded.

"Coming right up." Devon said, handing Steel his plant back.

"All right!"

Devon used his cheetah speed and headed off. "That's it!" Vargoyle exclaimed as he fired at Steel.

"Steel!" I shouted, stepping in front of him before deflecting the blast using my ninja sword, firing it right back at Vargoyle who crashed to the ground.

"No! Spot!" Steel exclaimed as his plant was burnt. Vargoyle then stood back up. Steel walked over to his plant. "What has he done to you?!"

"Same thing I'll do to you!" Vargoyle said, grabbing onto Steel and throwing him into a dumpster. "Unless you stay out of my way!"

I slashed my sword against Vargoyle who grabbed onto it before flinging me towards where Steel was.

"Steel? Trent?" Devon called out.

"Yep. Just over here!" Steel said, appearing from the dumpster.

"A dumpster. . . He could've thrown us anywhere but a dumpster. Good thing it was empty." I complained, hoisting myself up next to Steel.

Steel grunted as he tumbled out, me following suit. "Are you two okay?" Devon asked.

"We were lucky. Vargoyle left us for scrap. But poor Spot." Steel answered, picking up his plant. "He's gone!"

"Sorry about your plant." Devon told him.

"If I could take care of Spot for a week, my brother was going to give me a pet. But not any more. And I don't deserve one. I couldn't save Spot or the city." Steel said.

"One thing I've heard about Power Rangers is that they never give up." Devon informed.

"Hmm. You're right, Devon, we never give up. I'll miss you, Spot." Steel sets down the burnt plant. "All right. We've gotta get to that TV station and destroy the device that's messing with everyone's memories."

Devon handed Steel and I our Wrist Comms. "Thanks." Steel said while I placed mine back on my right wrist.

"Now, Trent and I will teach you a thing or two about being a Ranger." Steel said to Devon.

"I'm ready. Let's do this." Devon said in determination before we headed off.

.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.

"Come on." Devon said as the three of us were at the TV station. "Up there!"

I looked up to see purple rays being broadcasted out to the city. "That's gotta be Vargoyle's Pulsator." Steel pointed out. "Once again, my intuition is flawless. Let's take it out."

Steel fired his blaster at the Pulsator, but it deflected off. "It's got some kind of blast shield." He said.

"We'll have to go up there." I informed.

"Easy." Devon nodded. He grabbed onto the railings as it shocked him. "The whole tower's electrified."

"What do we do?" Steel questioned.

"If I can find the power shut-off, I'll disconnect the electricity." Devon replied.

"I'll go with you." I told him.

"If you're gonna do that, do it fast, we don't have time to wait. I'm gonna start climbing now." Steel stated. "I'm half-robot, so I might make it."

"Ok. Good luck, Steel." Devon told him.

Steel began climbing the tower as zaps of electricity went through him while Devon and I headed off to find the power shut-off. The two of us rushed down the steps.

"Hey, what are you doing?"

"Where's the main electrical shutdown? It's an emergency." Devon asked frantically.

"Down there."

Evil laughter was heard as Devon and I turned around, spotting Vargoyle. "You can run, but you can't hide!" He exclaimed.

"Get everybody out." Devon told the worker.

"You should've stayed away, kid. Your robot friend will shock himself into oblivion as I destroy you both!" Vargoyle claimed.

"Well, my friends taught me a few tricks." Devon stated. "It's morphin' time!"

Both Devon and I pressed onto our wrist comms. "Activate Beast Power!" The two of us shouted as we morphed.

"Unleash the Beast!"

"Huh? My Beast Powers! Scrozzle, my Morph-X is low!" Vargoyle informed. "Nothing? Really? You traitors!"

"Fortunately, I'm still more than a match for you." Vargoyle added on.

"Transport! I might not remember being a Ranger, but I can still handle a fight!" Devon claimed, holding up his blaster.

"Two against one, your luck just ran out, Vargoyle." I added on.

"Ha! Bring it, kid." Vargoyle challenged.

"Beast Blast!"

The two of us fired at Vargoyle who suddenly appeared in front of us as we stumbled back. "I'll beat you with your own Beast Power." Vargoyle said as him and Devon began fighting.

"Devon!" I shouted out in worry.

Vargoyle evilly laughed. "Tired yet?!" He questioned.

"No way!" Devon responded.

The two of them began fighting once more. Vargoyle then fired at Devon before he got covered in pink rays.

"I remember everything now. He did it!" Devon exclaimed.

"Good to have you back, dude." I said, chuckling a bit.

"It's good to be back."

"Steel, my memories are back." Devon informed. He didn't receive a response. "Steel! Come in, Steel!"

"You deal with Vargoyle! I'll go look for Steel!" I reassured.

"Got it!"

I left Devon to fight Vargoyle while I went to make sure Steel was all right.

I was demorphed as I found Steel on the ground, unresponsive. "Steel!" I called out, kneeling down next to him.

"I gotta get him back to base." I think to myself, hoisting him up before walking to base.

.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.

"What happened to him?" Ravi questioned.

"He climbed up the electrified tower to destroy the Pulsator." I explained.

"Is he gonna be OK?" Zoey asked.

"I don't know." Nate responded anxiously as Ravi's comm beeped.

"Rangers, we have an incoming Gigadrone. Deploying Zords." Commander Shaw informed.

"Roger that." Ravi confirmed, turning off his comm as he headed out.

"Hey, if anyone can fix your brother, it's you." Zoey reassured Nate. "I believe in you."

She followed Ravi out of the lab. "We all do." Devon added.

I gave Nate a pat on his shoulder in reassurance before following Devon and the others.

All of us then got into our Zords. "Gorilla Mode!" Ravi shouted as his Zord changed into Gorilla Mode.

The Gigadrone then appeared. "Beast-X Megazord, combine!" Devon shouted out as our Megazord began coming together.

"Beast-X Megazord unleashed!"

The Gigadrone then began firing at us. "Watch out!" Devon warned as we slashed at the Gigadrone.

"Powering Beast-X Blade!" Zoey shouted.

"Charging main weapons!" Ravi and I said in unison.

"Transport Cheetah Beast Blaster!" Devon shouted out as his cheetah blaster appeared in his hands. "Beast-X Hyper Strike!"

We slashed at the Gigadrone as it finally exploded.

"Virus eliminated."

.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.

All of us had rushed back to base. "Initiate reboot sequence." Nate said. "Oh, please work."

Steel then activated as he sat up. "Nate!" He exclaimed as Nate hugged him.

"You really scared me, buddy." Nate told him.

"I'm sorry, bro. Hey, did all your memories get fixed?" Steel questioned.

"You aced it. The Memory Pulsator is history." Devon answered.

"You're a true hero, Steel." Ravi adds on.

"How you feeling?" Nate asked.

"I'm fine. Oh, but my plant didn't make it. I couldn't take care of little Spot." Steel replied.

"Yes, Trent and Devon told me. But Steel, you saved the entire city on your own." Nate informed.

"While saving me." Devon added on.

"I did? Really?" Steel asked.

"I'm sorry I didn't think that you could look after a pet. I was wrong." Nate informed.

"So. . ." Steel paused. "does that mean I can have one?"

"Mm-hm."

I crossed my arms before smiling.

.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.

Later, we were at a park as the dog Steel adopted—who he named Spot—was licking Devon's face while Devon was frozen.

"Oh. Uh, come on, Spot." Nate chuckled.

"Oops. Sorry, Devon." Steel apologized. "I forgot that dogs make you freeze up." Steel then chuckled as Devon unfroze. "My bad."

"Whoa! Slow down, Spot. Man, he sure is energetic!" Steel stated.

"Can I pat your puppy?" A young girl asked, running over to us.

"Of course." Steel responded.

"We went to the dog shelter, but they didn't have any puppies." The young girl's mother explained.

Steel kneeled down. "Wow. Spot really likes you." He observed.

"Lacey's loved dogs ever since she was a baby."

"Oh. Really?" Steel said, looking up at Ravi, Zoey, and I. "Hmm. Well, then Lacey, would you like to keep Spot?"

"Really?!" Lacey asked, before looking up to her mother. "Mom?"

"Oh my. Are you sure?" She questioned.

"I don't think I really have time to give him all the love he needs, but if you do, he's yours." Steel answered.

"Thank you."

"Thanks, Mr Robot." Lacey thanked Steel.

"You're very welcome." Steel hands her the leash.

"Come on, Spottie." Lacey said as her and her mom walked away.

"See ya, buddy." Steel said goodbye to Spot.

"You made that little girl very happy." Nate stated.

"I guess so. And Spot looks happy too." Steel agreed as Ben and Betty suddenly appeared in front of us. "Ben! Betty!"

All of us rushed towards the two siblings. "What a ride!" Betty said as Nate and Devon helped the two up. "Oh, hi, guys."

"The Transporter must've finally run out of Morph-X." Ben pointed out. "That was crazy. You wouldn't believe the places we've been."

"I'm. . . afraid to ask." I commented.

"Can we go again?" Betty asked.

"No way!" Ben answered as we all bursted into laughter.
