(34) Four Years Later
Bella's POV:
After I got released from the hospital, I wanted to complete my graduation. I needed to stay in the USA for four months before I could leave for Italy. Gabriel's semester was starting and he needed to leave for Italy.
His parents Pamela and Frank decided to intervene and offered me to stay with them until I graduate, even though I insisted that I would rent on a place and get a job. But Gabriel made me understand that he wouldn't be able to leave me if I stayed anywhere except with his parents. He was scared that Tristan would take advantage of my isolation and attempt something. I was scared of that possibility as well, so I agreed to stay with his parents.
His parents looked after like I was actually their daughter and Harry became my brother and a close friend. Matt left for New York where he was studying in the college. He would come home on vacation. Nick and Nina lived in an apartment near the hospital they were practicing in. They would come every weekend to have dinner with us. I developed a pretty friendly relationship with Frank, Pamela, and Harry. In those four months, I got a job, made friends, went out with friends and did everything that a normal eighteen years old girl does.
I felt alive in those four months. Gabriel and I kept connected through video calling each other every day and ever night. I did miss his lips, his hugs, his deep sexy voice in the morning but I knew this part of life would be over after four months.
It had been four years since I left my home, my city, and came to Italy to live with Gabriel.
Gabriel had given me everything that a woman would want in her life. He had given me the freedom to do what I want, he had given me the pleasure that every person deserves and he had given me the strength of his love. He made my life a living dream.
Now, I had a job as a publicist that I love, I had my own car, and I had been running a shelter for homeless teenagers for two years.
He did change my life and now I try to change others' lives for the better.
Despite everything, I hadn't forgotten about the past. I stayed in contact with Nate. I attended his wedding and became the godmother of his beautiful daughter Delia. His and my relationship was significant, we were not brother and sister by birth but we accepted each other as family. At first, Gabriel was upset, but he understood that Nate was different and he started to trust him as well.
Surprisingly, Tristan never came after me in these four years but it didn't mean he had forgotten me. He had sent me gifts on my birthday and unknown donations for my shelter. Gabriel despises Tristan's actions but he never blamed me for that. I knew if Tristan ever came face to face with Gabriel he would certainly get a broken jaw and bruised face.
I heard the horn behind me and pulled myself out from the memories of the past. I parked my car and went inside the pharmacy.
"Hello ma'am, how can I help you?" the pharmacist asked.
"I'm looking for a pregnancy test," I told her.
She turned and picked some out of the shelves then placed them on the counter.
"These three are the best," she said.
I didn't think the result from one would satisfy me.
"I need all of them," I told her.
She smiled and nodded, printing out a receipt then handing me the bag.
"Have a good day," she said with a smile.
"You too," I replied.
I came home straight and unlocked the door. I knew Gabriel was at work but he would be coming home soon and I needed to take these tests before that.
Gabriel's father, Andre Russell made Gabriel the CEO of his export company in Milan. Then he bought this apartment and we moved here. Andre and Francisca were beautiful people, they loved Gabriel more than I thought. And Gabriel loved them more than he loves his biological parents. He had a very close and loving relationship with them.
When I came to Italy, Francisca and Andre wanted Gabriel and me to get married right away. They were a traditionalist and wanted everything perfect but Gabriel talked to them and made them understand that we needed some time. I knew he didn't need time to marry me but I did. I needed it to make sure we were not making any mistakes.
Crossing the living room, I entered my bedroom and placed my purse on the bed. I got undressed quickly and went inside the washroom with my phone.
With the trembling hands, I read the instructions and ripped the package of a pregnancy test. I took the test and waited anxiously.
It came back positive and my heart stopped. The tears began to blur my vision and I hastily took another test. The second one also came positive and then the third one.
I was standing in the bathroom with my bra and panties, staring at the tests with surprised eyes when someone entered the bathroom.

Gabriel's POV:
When I first met her I knew she was going special. My heart yelled at me, my eyes got stuck on her beautiful face, and my fate knew where to lead me.
In the last four years, she had made crazier in love. I'd seen her grow into a beautiful and confident woman. I'd seen her fighting with her past and thriving for the future. I'd seen her struggling for success and celebrating her victory. I'd seen her sick and I'd seen her healthy. And I'd always thanked my fate for giving me her as my life partner, as my friend, and more importantly as my woman.
I loved that she was mine to hold, to kiss, and to make love. I loved that she chose me to be her friend, her companion, and her lover.
For me, she was the most beautiful and kind woman and I was the luckiest man alive.
I knew I loved her but I didn't know that I could fall more in love with her with time. The four years that I had spent with her were like heaven for me. She was perfect for me in every way. I was glad that both parents, my brothers, and my friends loved her and accepted her in our family. I knew they had a pretty good idea now why I fell in love with her in such a short time.
I thought the past would always hunt us but I didn't. In four years, Tristan didn't come after us and left us to live in peace. He did send Bella gifts and donations for her shelter which I hated but I couldn't do anything except cursing him to the pit of hell. Bella stayed in contact with Nate much to my displeasure but I knew he cared about her and loved her like a sister. She made me understand what relationship they had developed and I respected that. I understood they both had no one except each other to call family.
Now she had become more confident, vibrant, and optimistic. I still recalled the day when I proposed her in the hospital and she said yes. She had been wearing that same ring for four years now. But I had been dying to replace it with the wedding band.
I pulled up outside the building and parked my car. I went to my apartment and entered. My laptop bag was fumbling on my left arm while I was trying to switch on the lights of the living room.
I noticed the bedroom light was on and went to the room. I loosen my tie and removed my coat then made my way towards the bathroom where she was standing in black lingerie. She was standing stagnant with her eyes on the counter.
I walked to her in concern and touched her arm. "Love are you alright?"
She looked at me with the watery eyes and I instantly knew something was wrong.
"What happened?" I asked her in a panic.
"Baby, you're scaring me," I said cupping her face.
"Are you sick?" I asked her, hoping to receive an answer.
She stayed silent, gazing at me with her doe chocolate brown eyes.
"Let's go to the doctor, you look pale," I said, grabbing her wrist when she stopped me.
Then she wrapped her arms around my neck and started sobbing like a baby.
My heart dropped inside my chest. I didn't know who made her cry like that but I was prepared to break his or her face for giving tears in her eyes.
I rubbed her back, attempting to calm her down.
"Don't cry, love. You know I can't see tears in your eyes. Tell me who made you cry and I deal with him or her," I told her, placing a kiss on her shoulder.
She pulled away from the hug and said, "You will never be able to hurt him or her."
I was not expecting that answer. I didn't know when she started doubting my abilities to protect her.
"I can and I will. Just tell me the name," I told her.
"Why are you like this?" She asked in irritation.
"I know I am possessive when it comes to your protection but that's because I love you," I said with shrug.
"You will never hurt him or her," she said with the glare.
"You don't know who hurt you?" I asked her in bewilderment, leaning on the basement when something fell down on my feet.
I picked it and my mouth dropped open. I couldn't believe that I was holding a pregnancy test.
"You...You're going to be...a father," she stuttered.
"Say it again," I told her, gazing at her belly and the pregnancy test.
"You're going to be a father. I'm pregnant, Gabriel," She said with tears streaming down her face.
I put the pregnancy test on the counter and wrapped my arm around her waist, pressing her to my chest.
"Why are you crying, love?" I asked her.
I knew she loved babies. When I was a teenager I hated babies, especially the crying ones. But I loved my cousins who were toddlers.
For the last two years, the idea of holding something that belongs to Bella and I had made it into our hearts. We had discussed babies and having a family. We wanted our own kids and wanted to watch them grow. However, we didn't plan this pregnancy and this baby would be coming into our life as a surprise.
"Are you not happy?" I asked her scared.
"Of course I am happy, we are talking about our baby, Gabriel," she said, sniffing.
I wiped her tears off and placed a kiss on her cheek.
"I...I am scared. I don't want to become a bad mom," she mumbled.
I smiled, knowing why she was scared.
"You're going to become the best mom, trust me, Bella," I told her.
She stared into my eyes. "How are you sure?"
"I'm sure because I know you. You're the kindest, most understanding, delicate, and controlling woman that I know," I told her.
She slapped my arm playfully, placing her head on my chest.
"How am I controlling?" She asked.
"You control my heart that's how," I told her.
I grabbed her chin and made her lookup.
"I still can't believe," I told her.
"Me too," she whispered.
"But I am beyond happy," I told her with the grin on my face.
"I can tell," she said grinning.
I captured her lips with mine, kissing her passionately. She responded to me, moving her lips with mine. I picked her from her waist and placed her on the countertop, standing between her legs.
She wrapped her legs around my waist, pulling me closer and undoing the buttons of my shirt. She removed my shirt and threw it in the bathtub then started working on my belt. My pants hit the floor and I stepped out of them.
"So how long does it take for a baby to come into this world?" I asked her, nibbling on her lower lip.
"Usually, it takes nine months," She replied moaning.
"We'll have to wait that long," I said to her, pretending to be sad.
"We can't do anything except waiting, love," she said, breathlessly.
"We can do something instead of waiting," I said, picking her up in my arms in bridal style and taking her to the bed.
In one swift motion, the remaining piece of clothes was gone. I hovered above her and she cupped my face, staring at me with her eyes sparkling in desire.
"Kiss me," she said.
I kissed every inch of her body that night, especially her belly where our future baby was growing.
