day 8, 7/20 kisses

"Ginny!" Amanda ran around their flat, fixing her necktie, but failing to do so.
"What?" Ginny stood up from the couch and stifled her laughter at the Ravenclaw who was looking like a mad person right now. Amanda woke up late because of the thoughts that were running through her mind the previous night, and since she had only 5 minutes before her work would start, she couldn't cook for her and Ginny.
"Can you get some steak for us later? From Alicia's?" Amanda stood in front of the mirror and tried fixing her necktie again. Usually, she was good at tying her own necktie, but her mind was just too jumbled right now for her to think properly. She groaned and removed the necktie before trying again.
Ginny laughed at her roommate before going to her and taking the necktie from her hands. "Here, let me." Amanda's cheeks flushed slightly as Ginny tied the necktie. She looked up at the ceiling to hide her blush from the girl, and she just hoped Ginny wouldn't heart the fast beating of her heart. "There, all done."
"T-Thanks. I-I'll see you later." Amanda stuttered before walking past Ginny and just as she was about to go out, Ginny called out.
"Wait!" Amanda stopped in her tracks and turned around. Ginny walked towards her with a coat in hand. "It's freezing outside. I'll see you later, Ada." She smiled at the older girl and went back to the couch.
"Goodbye, Gin," Amanda muttered and quickly left her flat and Apparated to the Auror office. She was such in a rush that she didn't notice Neville right in front of her.
"Ada, what-" Neville was cut off because Amanda bumped into him.
"Who- I'm so sorry, Nev." Amanda said with her cheeks flushed. Just those simple actions of Ginny were enough to mess up Amanda's focus. She couldn't think straight, not at all.
Neville just chuckled at her. "It's fine, Ada. Why are your cheeks so red anyways? Have you been running?"
"Y-Yeah," said Amanda. She had been running from the person who could be the cause of her death. She checked the time again and cursed. "Bloody hell, I'm late. I'll see you later, Nev!" She ran away from the confused Neville.
"But work starts in an hour." Neville shrugged before going on his way.

"Oh, Angelina. I just really like him," said Ginny with a dreamy gaze. "He's just so kind and perfect. Especially when he talks to me, I can't help but stutter." Since Gwenog Jones was sick, Angelina Weasley, their part-time manager, was overseeing their practice. Since Gwenog was gone, the Harpies played for fun and not as serious as their other practices.
And Angelina and Ginny decided to catch up on what had been happening in their lives. Ginny was happy to have Angelina as her sister-in-law because she could talk to her about Quidditch and even about how in love she was with Harry. Angelina knew Ginny was in love with Harry every since her second year, and since she had been the manager for the Holyhead Harpies, she had always heard about how Ginny loved the Boy Who Lived.
"It's been 4 years since you two got together during your fifth year." Angelina said to her. "Surely, it's time to try again, Ginny. You've been talking about him for months and you have been in love with him for years."
"But Angelina! He might not love me back."
"How can you say that if you don't take a risk?" Angelina's words made Ginny think hard. She could only nod in response. Angelina chuckled at the thinking girl before standing up and shouting to the other team members. "Hey, everybody! Practice is over. You can all go home."
Cheers and thanks rose from the players on the pitch while Ginny looked at Angelina in surprise. "What-"
"Gwenog's not here anyways." Angelina chuckled. "Go on, we'll practice harder next time."
"Thank you," said Ginny gratefully. She hugged their team manager before running off to the lockers. Ginny showered quickly and changed her clothes. While she was changing, Ginny thought of what Angelina had said. Should she really take a risk and confess to Harry?
What would she even say to Harry? 'I've been in love with you since you saved me from Voldemort.' Probably not, but Ginny frowned when she thought of the possibility of Harry not accepting her. What if Harry didn't like her back at all?
"I'll be going now, Gin, George wants some steak for tonight." Angelina waved to her before Apparating out of the Quidditch pitch. Ginny suddenly remembered Amanda's request for steak for dinner. She chuckled slightly at the memory of the unusually messy girl earlier that day. She stopped in her tracks and frowned. Their deal... What would happen to their deal?
Ginny made a decision then. Before she would confess to Harry, she would have to stop their deal first. She had to do it no matter what Amanda would say. After they ate steak, Ginny would tell the girl her decision. It was Amanda after all. She would probably understand Ginny's decision.
Ginny Apparated out of the Quidditch pitch to Diagon Alley. She walked to Alicia's diner and waved at Alicia who was behind the counter. She was thankful that it was not too crowded since she too was starving. She looked around and saw someone waving at her, and her heart immediately sped up because there was Harry Potter.
"Hey, Ginny!" Harry walked over to her and hugged her tight.
Ginny blushed deeply and chuckled. "Put me down, Harry."
Harry grinned at her before pulling her away from the line. "I want you to meet somebody."
Ginny was about to ask who when they arrived at the table, and the other person at the table waved at Ginny.
"Harry-"
"This is Jason, Gin." Harry said proudly. Jason blushed slightly and slapped the younger boy on the arm.
Ginny looked between the two of them in confusion, not understanding what was going on. "What do you mean, Harry? Jason and I already know each other." Ginny shook her head in bemusement.
"Oh, I think I said it wrong." Harry cleared his throat and pulled Jason closer to him by wrapping an arm around the journalist's shoulders. "This is Jason MacCabe, my boyfriend." He turned to smile at his blushing boyfriend.
"Huh?" That was the only thing Ginny could muster to say because after that, the words rang out in her ears and she couldn't hear anything else that Harry was saying. Harry. Jason. Harry and Jason were together? Jason was Harry's boyfriend? Ginny felt her heart suddenly drop.
"Hey, Gin," said Harry suddenly, and that brought Ginny out of her thoughts. Harry smiled widely at her. "Would you like to join us?"
"Sorry, what was that?" Ginny was still staring at how Harry held Jason gently. He held him just like how Ginny longed for Harry to hold her.
"Would you like to join us for late lunch?" Harry said again, still smiling at her. Ginny didn't know what to say, her mind and her feelings were all over the place. She opened her mouth when Harry spoke again. "I think Ada has another night shift today anyways."
'Right. Ada.' Ginny took a deep breath and shook her head. "I'm sorry. I, er, I have to go, sorry again, congratulations." Ginny turned around and walked out of the store.
"Is she okay, Har?" Jason asked worriedly, not knowing why Ginny suddenly left.
"I don't know, Jace," said Harry with a frown before he smiled softly and leaned in to kiss his boyfriend. He just loved saying that, calling Jason his. "But I'm glad we finally told her."
Jason grinned and nodded. "And Ada would probably talk to her anyways." The two lovers grinned at each other before changing the topic into something else.
As soon as she walked out, Ginny started running with tears streaming down her face. She didn't know where she was going, but she just wanted to get away from them. She should have known. If Harry did have feelings for her, he would've acted on them sooner or later. She was stupid for thinking she had a chance with him, and she did prepare herself for the rejection, but even if you prepare yourselves for the hurt, it wouldn't hurt any less.
Ginny had always heard from Eliza and Hermione, from Ron and Luna, from Neville and Hannah, from George and Angelina and from all the other couples she knew. Love was a bliss, but they never said love hurt like this.

Knock. Knock. Knock. There were frantic knocks coming from the door.
"Wait a minute! I'm coming, Ginny." Amanda yawned and stretched before standing up from the couch. Because she turned up to work an hour early, Kingsley decided to make her train the newbies again. Since the trainees were improving quick, she dismissed them early and decided to go home for some rest. When she opened the door, her eyes widened when she saw that Ginny's eyes were swollen and there were dried tear tracks on her face.
"Ginny, what happened to you?" Amanda said in concern and she closed the door behind them. "Talk to me, Gin. Why are you crying? Who did this to you?" But Ginny wasn't listening at all. She simply stared into the space with tears coming out from her eyes.
"Darling, talk to me," said Amanda gently while she wiped away the younger girl's tears. "Tell me what happened, okay? Look at me and –"
Ginny's lips crashed onto Amanda's harshly. Amanda's eyes widened and the force Ginny was exerting on her made her stumble backwards. Amanda's eyes widened even more when Ginny started biting on her lips. That caused a cut on her lips, and there was blood from the forceful kiss.
Amanda tried pushing her off, but Ginny simply tightened her hold on her. The two of them fell on the couch with Ginny on top of Amanda without pulling away from the kiss. Ginny swiped her tongue at Amanda's lower lip, but Amanda didn't give her entrance. She would not let Ginny do this. She pushed the girl away with all the strength she had.
"Ginevra Molly Weasley!" Amanda raised her voice and wiped her bleeding lip with her thumb. "What are you doing?" She looked at the girl and saw that Ginny was still staring at her with an unreadable look in her eyes. Then, Ginny jumped on her again and kissed her even harder than the first.
Amanda didn't know what to do anymore in her surprise and confusion. Ginny squeezed her thigh, which surprised Amanda and made her mouth open. Ginny took that as her opportunity and she dominated over the girl's tongue. Amanda felt something drop onto her cheek, and she realized that Ginny was still crying.
Amanda always dreamed about the day that Ginny would kiss her first, and she should be happy that it was finally happening, but she never thought the first kiss Ginny would initiate would be like this. It was full of bitterness and sadness, and it hurt Amanda's heart instead of making it speed up every time she kissed Ginny. She thought of the only thing she could do to stop this kiss. She pushed Ginny away and slapped her cheeks but not too hard to hurt her.
"GINNY WEASLEY! WAKE UP!" Amanda said angrily, and Ginny snapped back to her senses and finally saw Amanda. Amanda looked even messier than she did this morning. There was a cut on her lips, but what made Ginny break down in tears was how Amanda was still looking at her with worry in her eyes. Ginny clapped a hand over her mouth to hold back her sob. She didn't know what to feel anymore. Guilt for what she had done to Amanda? Sadness for the hurt of what she learned about Harry and Jason?
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, Ada." Ginny sobbed out and covered her face with her hands. "I didn't mean to, I didn't know what –"
"Shh, you have me, Gin," said Amanda gently as she walked to her roommate and hugged her tightly. "Don't worry. No matter what happens, you have me. So let it all out. I got you." Amanda's heart broke at the sight of the crying girl. She hated seeing Ginny cry, and just the sight of Ginny in pain was enough to hurt Amanda as well. She yelled in her mind to Merlin, to Rowena Ravenclaw, to anyone who would listen, to help this breaking girl in her arms. She didn't care if she would be the one to take all her pain as long as Ginny was happy.
"You have me, Gin. Every step of the way, you have me." Amanda whispered softly. She kissed the top of Ginny's head and let the girl cry her eyes out.

"You have me. Until every last star in the galaxy dies, you have me."
"Until the sun falls from the sky."
"You'll have me forever."
"And I'm thankful I have you." The girl hugged the younger one, not seeing the younger's face fall with a lone tear falling from her eye.
The two roommates were back in the couch, laying together. Ginny leaned on Amanda's chest while they were watching another romantic comedy. If it was any other time, Amanda would be protesting to change the movie, but she knew Ginny need this. She knew Ginny needed to forget everything even if it was only for a few moments.
The two of them ordered from the restaurant near their flat and finished a tub of ice cream for dessert. Amanda suddenly felt arms wrap around her waist and when she turned to look at Ginny, she saw the Chaser already looking at her.
"I'm sorry, Ada," mumbled Ginny softly.
Amanda smiled softly at her and hugged her tight. "And I told you, it's fine, Gin. You already apologized too much."
"But I even cut –"
"And it's nothing a healing spell can't fix. Let's just watch the movie, eh?" Amanda gazed at her softly. Ginny looked into her eyes and saw sincerity, she saw she was truly forgiven, but she thought she couldn't just forget about what she did to Amanda.
Amanda chuckled softly and kissed her on the forehead. "Stop apologizing, Gin. I forgive you. Really. Let's move on and forget it, eh?"
"I didn't think love would hurt this bad," said Ginny as she looked down. "The movies always talked about love and pain, but it's different to actually feel it."
"Life is like a movie, isn't it?" said Amanda softly. "You fall in love more than you think you do, and that's normal. It's fine, but just like the movies we watch, love is beautiful. You think you know how much you love a person, but you only realize when you lose that person. Believe me, Gin. I know how you feel. I've been there before, but the pain is there to make you better. You learn from the pain, and you grow stronger. And I know you. Right now, you're so strong and so brave for telling me how you feel right now. Darling, not everyone can be as brave as you and tell people how they feel."
Amanda stopped there and looked at the girl curiously when Ginny nodded and yawned, burying her face into Amanda's neck. Amanda chuckled slightly before she checked the time. They had been there for 6 hours, and it was already 9 in the evening.
"You sleepy, Gin?" Ginny nodded. Amanda moved to stand when Ginny tugged on her arm.
"Can we stay here? Just hold me?" Amanda's face softened at the exhaustion of her roommate before she nodded. Ginny sighed in contentment as she nuzzled her face into the older girl's neck and tightened her hold around Amanda's waist. She felt safe in Amanda's arms and the scent of the girl just comforted her even more.
"You have me as long as you need me, Gin," whispered Amanda. "I love you." And hearing those words, Ginny drifted off to sleep, the exhaustion of the emotional day coming back to her. She didn't notice how Amanda tightened her hold on her and how tears were falling freely from the Ravenclaw's face. She really wasn't a Gryffindor because she wasn't brave enough to tell even her best friend the feelings she buried deep inside her.
