day 4, 3/20 kisses

✼ •• ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ •• ✼

The next morning, Amanda yawned and took some Treacle Tarts from the refrigerator. She was surprised when Hedwig was at the window of their living room, tapping it. She opened it and stroked the owl's hair. "Good morning, Hedwig. Oh, who's this from?" When she took the letter from his foot, Hedwig simply nipped Amanda's fingers before flying away. She checked the back of the letter and to her surprise, it was not from Harry but from Jason.

Amanda,

Don't forget we'll be eating lunch with George and Eliza tomorrow. I heard Eliza's missing you already after you haven't gone to the Burrow last Sunday. Thank you for helping me find a place to stay for these past few months. Harry helped me find a flat so you should come visit sometime. George has been already. By the way, congratulations for catching Rookwood! Harry said you're a nominee for being the next Head Auror since Williamson's stepping down soon. Anyways, we'll see you tomorrow at the usual spot.

Love,

Jason

"Ow!" Amanda rubbed the back of her head and dropped the letter. She turned around to see a fuming Ginny behind her. "What are you doing?"

"You finished my Treacle Tarts!" Ginny reached over for the pillow to throw at the Ravenclaw.

"I did not eat your Treacle Tarts!" Amanda scrambled from the couch while smiling innocently at Ginny. Ginny glared at her and picked up the plate of the crumbs of Treacle Tarts on the table.

Amanda's face fell before she smiled slightly at the girl. "Well, that's a-"

"And you finished all the Cauldron Cakes too! Those were mine."

"I didn't- Wait!" Amanda ran to Ginny when she raised the plate and tried to throw it at Amanda. She took the plate from Ginny and chuckled nervously. "Let's calm down, Gin, all right? Let's talk. Please don't throw the plate."

Ginny sent her one more glare before sitting down at the couch and pouting. "I'm not talking to you until you give back my Treacle Tarts and Cauldron Cakes." When Ginny noticed Amanda's eyes drift to her lips, she glared at the girl again. "Don't you even think about it."

"Okay," said Amanda, raising her hands. "Come on then. Let's go to Diagon Alley. I'm sure they'll have some Cauldron Cakes and Treacle Tarts there." She was too exhausted last night after her talk with Luna and Neville that she didn't even check what she took out of the fridge and just ate whatever she could.

Ginny beamed at her and started to get up before she stopped and narrowed her eyes at Amanda. "Why?"

"Why what?"

"Are you planning something?" Ginny asked with a dubious tone.

"Bloody hell, do you think I want to use a kiss for that when I can use one anytime? Ow!" Ginny slapped her on the arm again.

"You arse, you've done so many surprise kisses I don't know what to expect anymore!" At Ginny's words, Amanda smiled mischievously before walking around the counter and leaning towards Ginny. Ginny leaned against the counter and closed her eyes. She knew it. This idiot was always surprising her with those kisses.

"Ow!" Ginny glared at the Ravenclaw when she felt a sudden flick on her forehead. Amanda laughed loudly and moved away when Ginny tried to hit her again. "What was that for? You git!"

"You hit me two times!"

"And you ate my food!"

"And I'm going to buy them for you! I need to buy steak anyways. Knowing you, you're always hungry! Bloody hell, ow! Stop, ow! Hitting me! Ow!" Amanda moved away from the Gryffindor, who kept on hitting her, and she finally got away and closed the door to her room.

"Hey! I was just getting to Tom's discovery about Jay's love for Daisy." Ginny glared at Amanda, who had been reading the Great Gatsby on the couch for ten minutes since Ginny was ready.

"And I've been waiting for 10 minutes, and you kept on saying in a minute! Now, let's go and buy the food." Ginny put down the book on the table, and Amanda sighed before taking one of the scarfs she had on the couch and she was about to wrap one around Ginny's neck.

"W-What are you doing?" said Ginny, blushing slightly at Amanda's actions.

"We're in the middle of winter, Gin." Amanda rolled her eyes and finally wrapped the scarf around the girl. "Now, we can go." She held her arm out and the blushing redhead took it. They Disapparated out of their flat and into Diagon Alley where there were wizards coming about.

"Is the shop open?" said Amanda when they passed by Weasley's Wizard Wheezes. She looked inside and saw George and Angelina there, just about to kiss. She smirked and knocked on the window, which made the two jump back from each other and look at the window. The couple glared at the laughing Ravenclaw.

"Come on," said Ginny, chuckling and pulling the girl away. "They can kill you after we buy our food."

"I'm feeling really loved, Ginevra," said Amanda sarcastically. Ginny rolled her eyes as they finally arrived at Gallo's Grocer's. Amanda picked up a basket while Ginny led the way to the sweets. She grinned and took piles of Treacle Tarts and Cauldron Cakes, filling the basket with the sweets.

"Isn't that too much?" Amanda said with wide eyes.

"Well, there are two of us eating them, aren't there?" said Ginny, raising her eyebrow.

"At least get some Crystallized Pineapples." Amanda protested and switched out some of the Treacle Tarts and Cauldron Cakes for Crystallized Pineapples. "I'm going to get sick of these if you'll get that much."

"You ate them anyways a while ago and last night!" Ginny put back the Tarts and Cakes Amanda took out.

"Well, I was hungry, and I didn't really care about the taste." Amanda said with an exasperated look, taking out more Tarts and Cakes and replacing them with Pineapples. "These pineapples are great."

"Why don't you just buy a fresh pineapple and sprinkle it with sugar and syrup then?"

"Oh, come on, these aren't that bad. They're like tiny poppers in your mouth."

"Then I'll make the fresh pineapple pop in your mouth, I do know a spell." Amanda was about to say something when she saw someone behind Ginny. What a coincidence. Harry Potter was buying food on the same day she and Ginny were.

"Oi, lightning behind you." Ginny looked at her in confusion before turning around and blushing immediately when she saw Harry there. She looked back at Amanda with a panicked look. "You look like a doe stuck in the headlights."

"You arse!" Ginny glared at Amanda when she started laughing. "W-What should I do?" She looked back at Harry, who was checking out some Muggle chips in the stalls. Amanda smiled sadly when she saw the look of admiration in Ginny's eyes, the same look she had whenever she looked at Ginny. She always wished Ginny would look at her like that, but that look was reserved for Harry and for Harry Potter only.

"Go on," said Amanda, pushing her slightly.

"What?"

"Go on and talk to him, Gin," chuckled Amanda lightly. "Don't tell me you're not even going to say hi." Ginny looked at her, but Amanda was looking at the meat stall. She looked back at Ginny and smiled softly. "I'll go and get steak. That's what you want, yeah?"

When Ginny nodded, Amanda ruffled her hair and grinned. "Now, go talk to him. Be the Gryffindor you are and have courage, Gin." Ginny smiled slightly before she walked over to Harry. Amanda watched her with mixed emotions before she shook her head and moved on to get some steak. She was starting to think her friends were right after all.

"H-Harry, hi!" Ginny said when she was a few meters behind Harry.

Harry turned around and grinned at the girl. "Hey, Gin! What a coincidence."

"I-Indeed." Ginny felt her heart skipping a beat when she stared into Harry's green eyes that resembled the Quidditch pitch so she turned to the snacks to calm it down. "So, what sweets are you getting?"

"Yeah, I do want some Treacle Tarts, but I don't know what Jason wants."

Ginny frowned slightly. "Jason? Jason MacCabe?"

"Yeah, we've been flatmates for a few months, but I helped him move in yesterday," said Harry, his eyes scanning the shelves. Ginny felt her heart drop. Somehow, she had been hearing Jason's name drop from Harry's mouth more frequent these days, and she just learned now that they were flatmates...

"What do you think I should get him, Gin?" Harry smiled at her, which made Ginny's heart skip a beat despite the small feeling of sadness in her at the sudden closeness between Harry and Jason. She liked Jason, Jason was a friend of hers, and one of Amanda's closest friends, but it just made her feel like someone punched her in the stomach, just like that time when Harry liked Cho.

Ginny didn't know what to answer because she wasn't that close to Jason anyways. "Umm-"

"Don't ask Ginny, Harry." Amanda had come back from the meat stall. "She's going to recommend a pile of Treacle Tarts or Cauldron Cakes anyway."

"Amanda, it's good to see you." Harry gave the Ravenclaw a brotherly hug.

"Same with you, Harry," said Amanda, blushing slightly when she saw the people around looking at them. After all, Harry was a celebrity in the Wizarding World, and it wasn't usual to see him hugging someone in public. Ginny snorted when she noticed the blush on Amanda's face. She knew the girl hated attention except when it was from her friends.

"Congratulations on catching Rookwood, mate," said Harry cheerfully. "I heard you're in talks to be the next Head Auror. You deserve it."

"Please, it was the only case I focused on for the past three years," chuckled Amanda. "You've all done more than I did, and I've still got a long way to go." She reached behind Ginny and handed Harry a box of Chocolate. "Jason loves these Chocolate Frogs. I heard he still doesn't have Rowena Ravenclaw's."

"Really?" said Harry with a soft chuckle. "Thanks for these, Ada. I could've gotten him something he didn't like."

"Jace will like anything you give, Har." Amanda glanced at Ginny who was watching the scene with a soft smile. Harry grinned at her before giving her another hug and hugging Ginny as well. Amanda quickly changed the hurt expression on her face with a grin. When Harry waved goodbye to them, Amanda turned back to Ginny, who was still staring after Harry. "Is there anything else you want, Gin?"

"Ice cream?"

Amanda nodded and started leading the way to the ice cream section. What they didn't see as they turned around was Harry stopping in his tracks and looking at Ginny's back with a soft smile on his face. Amanda raised her eyebrow when she felt a stare on her and glanced to see Ginny, staring at her back.

"What is it?"

"What?"

"Why are you staring at me?"

"I'm not," said Ginny defensively. She was about to place four tubs of mint chocolate ice cream in their cart when Amanda started walking towards her with a smirk on her face. "W-What are you doing?"

"Staring like you've been doing."

"S-Stop it. I wasn't." Ginny mumbled. Her back hit the shelf and she closed her eyes when Amanda started leaning in. Amanda's smirk grew, and she rested one hand beside Ginny's head and leaned in until their lips were inches apart.

"What if I don't want to?" Amanda whispered lowly. Ginny felt a shiver run down her spine when Amanda's breath hit her ear.

"Then don't." Ginny whispered back, staring into Amanda's brown eyes. Amanda's eyes widened slightly before she moved towards Ginny, who closed her eyes again. Just one more move, and their lips were about to touch...

"I won't hold back when it comes to my girlfriend." Amanda whispered before she reached behind Ginny for the ice cream cones and grinned at the flustered girl and turned back to the cart. "Go push the cart, I'm going to get the Muggle crisps you want, the Walkers."

As Amanda walked away, Ginny finally put the tubs of ice cream she had been holding in the cart when she saw that their cart was filled with Treacle Tarts and Cauldron Cakes and there were no Crystallized Pineapples at all. She followed the girl with a soft smile on her face. Amanda was such an idiot.

Unknown to the two, from behind the ice cream stall, there were two figures who had been watching them. Eliza and Hermione.

"What the fu- fudge did they just do?" Eliza changed her words when she saw Hermione's warning gaze. "Did you see that, Mione? Did you see it?"

"Yes, love, I was with you the entire time," said Hermione, worried too about what they just witnessed. "What is Amanda planning?"

Eliza stood up. "I'm going there-"

"Eliza Lois, sit down," said Hermione with a glare. Eliza was about to protest but Hermione's glare scared her so she made the right decision and sat back down. Hermione's eyes softened at how worried she looked before leaning in and kissing Eliza's cheek. "I know you're worried, Eli, but you can ask her tomorrow. You have lunch with her, right?"

"You always say the right things," said Eliza softly and leaning in to place a sweet kiss on Hermione's lips. "And that just makes me fall in love with you more." Hermione blushed before she leaned in once more and kissed the Ravenclaw again, making Eliza smile into the kiss. Hermione was right. Amanda would tell her about what was going on tomorrow. She would worry about her best friend later because for now, all her attention was on the brunette beside her.
