day 3, 3/20 kisses

✼ •• ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ •• ✼

"Ron, Lu, Nev, come in!" Ginny opened the door for them and let them into the flat. Ron, Luna and Neville had their breaks from work so they decided to give Ginny a visit.

"Hey, Gin." Ron gave his sister a hug. "Is Amanda out?"

"Yeah," said Ginny, her cheeks flushing slightly at the thought of the girl while she hugged both Luna and Neville. "I think it's about that case yesterday. Do you know what is it about?"

"Amanda's higher than us and she's in a different division so we don't know." Neville explained. Ginny frowned slightly but nodded anyways. Luna on the other hand noticed how her friend had blushed at the mention of Amanda and wondered if she just imagined it.

"Did Amanda eat her steak yesterday, Ginny?" Luna's question made Ginny blush again at the thought of the kisses they shared yesterday. Steak wasn't the only thing Amanda ate yesterday.

"Y-Yeah," said Ginny. She stood up quickly and turned her back on her friends. "You guys haven't eaten yet, right? How about I cook us some food?"

"You know how to cook?" said Ron incredulously. "I'm just lucky Luna cooks a great meal."

"Oh, Ron," said Luna, blushing slightly and kissing her husband's cheek. Ron grinned back at her.

"I miss Hannah." Neville grumbled under his breath. Ginny just chuckled and she went to the refrigerator, thinking of what to cook. She didn't know how to cook and she only relied on her roommate to feed her everyday. When Ginny opened the refrigerator, her eyes softened when she saw there was food ready for them with a note on top of it.

Good morning, Gin! I heard Ron, Luna and Neville are coming for lunch and I know you can't cook at all so I cooked spaghetti and meatballs for you before I went to work. Have a great day. I love you!

"Ginny?" Ginny jumped and turned around to see Luna looking at her questioningly. "Are you all right? Do you need help cooking?"

"Nope, I'm good, Ada cooked us some food." Ginny took out the pan and heated it on the stove. Luna watched Ginny curiously, wondering why she was smiling so widely now. Every time someone mentioned Amanda, she would either be a blushing mess or smiling widely.

When Ginny set the plates for her, Ron and Neville, Luna suddenly spoke. "Ginny, what's the deal with you and Amanda?" Ron and Neville stopped eating and looked at Ginny with curiosity.

Ginny blushed redder than she ever did the whole morning. "N-Nothing."

"You know it's not nothing." Luna said firmly. Ginny stared into her eyes and sighed, knowing that she couldn't hide it anymore. Luna had a way of knowing when Ginny was lying or not.

"Amanda and I are dating." Ginny muttered.

"What?" Ron and Neville said, not understanding what she said. Luna on the other hand heard it loud and clear and her eyes widened.

"What? How? When?" Luna asked continuously.

"Wait, we're confused," said Neville, pointing to him and Ron. "What's going on?"

"Amanda and I are dating." Ginny repeated a little louder this time. She saw Neville's jaw drop and he stared from Luna to Ginny thinking it was all a joke. Ron on the other hand blinked a couple times and stared at his wife. Luna just nodded and rubbed her forehead in thought. What on earth was happening? Just yesterday, she was staring at Harry and now, she was suddenly saying she was dating Amanda. Amanda, her best friend, who Ginny always rejected.

"Wait, you're with her?" repeated Ron blankly. "With Amanda Lewis?"

"Yes."

"Since when?" Ginny started explaining about the deal she and Amanda made. A deal of 20 days and 20 kisses and how the Ravenclaw would stop pursuing her after the deal. While listening, Ron, Luna and Neville just exchanged glances, their hearts going out to Amanda. She was in love with Ginny ever since, and it wouldn't be that easy for her to move on.

"Are you sure about this?" asked Luna worriedly. "This might not turn out well for both of you."

"She wants this, Lu," said Ginny softly. "This is the only thing I can give her, and I want to make her happy just as she always made me happy." Ron, Luna and Neville stared at each other before sighing. What was Amanda thinking, proposing this deal? She loved Ginny so much. Would she really be willing to stop after this deal? And would this deal really end the way they thought they would?

Honestly, it was Amanda they were more concerned about than Ginny. They knew that the deal might end up breaking the Ravenclaw's heart more than it would Ginny. Ron, Luna and Neville didn't really approve of this deal, but when Amanda was dead set on something, there was nothing that could talk her out of it.

"Ginny!" Amanda yelled as she came through the door, panting.

"Why were you running?" Ginny looked at the girl in surprise and handed her a glass of water. Amanda took it immediately and drank the water in one shot.

"We need to go to the Burrow," Amanda panted. Ginny looked at her in confusion then Amanda sighed and started running around again. She took jumpers from her closet and threw one at Ginny.

"What?"

"Later, now come on, Gin!" Amanda held her hand and Apparated to the Burrow. She pulled Ginny inside and Ginny was surprised to see all her brothers, even Charlie, there with her mother and father. Ginny sat with her family who were just as confused as her while Amanda stood in front of them with a grin on her face. She took out a folder from inside her coat and set it down gently in front of the Weasleys.

"What's that, Ada?" said Percy in confusion. "Why did you call us all here?"

"You said it was something important," said Bill. "We were taking care of a Curse."

"And we were taking care of a Vipertooth," said Charlie.

"I know, I'm sorry," said Amanda, still grinning. "But I knew you all wanted to be here to hear this. So, open it." The Weasleys looked at each other before Arthur opened the folder and read it out loud.

"Augustus Rookwood has been imprisoned in Azkaban for the murders of Fred Weasley, Evanna and Matthew Lewis..." Arthur's voice died down and he blinked his eyes to keep the tears from falling. After three years, they finally had justice for Fred. Augustus Rookwood was finally banished to Azkaban, and he would rot there for the rest of his life.

All the Weasleys swept Amanda into a tight hug, all of them crying for both the loss of Fred hitting them once again and joy for the capture of Rookwood. George was sobbing his heart out and holding tight to Amanda. "Thank you, Ada... He would have loved this. We all needed this."

"This was definitely worth coming home for, Amanda," said Charlie, smiling gratefully at her. "Thank you."

"Was this what you were doing yesterday?" said Bill. "W-Were you out chasing Rookwood?" Amanda hesitated before nodding.

"Dear, you didn't have to," whispered Molly.

"I had to, Molly," said Amanda softly. "For Fred and my parents. I would do everything to hunt every Death Eater down." While the rest of her family hugged Amanda, Ginny watched from the side with a soft smile and tears streaming down her face. She felt her heart warm because of Amanda. Amanda had grown so much from the shy Ravenclaw who couldn't hex anyone into a brave Auror, and she caught the person who murdered Fred and her parents.

"You're lucky to be with her, Gin," said Ron, wrapping an arm around her. "Even if it's just 20 days, I know she'll treat you well."

"Even before these 20 days, she's always been treating me well. I just..."

"Just what?"

"I just feel bad I can't return her feelings. She's a good person, Ron, but I'm not the person who can give her the love she wants."

Ron stared at her before speaking in a soft voice. "You said it yourself, Ginny. This is what she wants. To be with you even if it's just for a limited time. Whether she moves on or you fall for her during those 20 days, I think this is the biggest thing you could give her." He smiled before going over to Amanda and hugging her tight, thanking her as well

Ginny watched Amanda laugh and smiled instantly. She was grateful for everything the girl did for her, from catching Fred's killer to being there for her when Harry rejected her dinner offer. She was just grateful Amanda Lewis was a part of her life. She wouldn't be where she was without her. When Amanda grinned at her, Ginny chuckled and jumped into the girl's waiting arms. She would give this deal if it was what would make her best friend happy.

"Luna, Neville," said Amanda, sitting beside them. She left the Burrow to let the Weasley family celebrate the capture of Rookwood and have their moments alone. They had insisted on letting Amanda stay, but she told them she was fine and she would be going to drink with some friends. To her surprise, before she had called the Weasley family to the Burrow, Luna and Neville called her out for a drink, and since she hadn't been able to attend the weekly Sunday meetings at the Burrow, she accepted.

"How have you been? How's married life treating you two?" Amanda asked teasingly.

"We're doing good. Hannah's an amazing woman." Neville grinned. "She's just... perfect. I'm glad I met her."

"I too am glad for that, Nev. How about you, Luna?"

"Oh, you know, Ron's doing his best as an Auror and supporting me in being a Magizoologist. I think he'll be quitting soon though."

"Really?"

"He'll be helping George out in the joke shop," said Luna in her dreamy tone.

"That's great," said Amanda cheerfully, sipping her firewhiskey. "So, why the sudden hang out? Not that I don't want to, I appreciate it really, but just curious."

"We heard about your deal with Ginny." Amanda spit her firewhiskey at Neville's words. Luna pat her on the back while she coughed.

"W-What?" said Amanda, coughing continuously.

"Ginny told us about your deal, Amanda," said Luna in a soft tone. "Are you really going through with this?"

"Why wouldn't I, Lu?" said Amanda just as soft. "Any time, even if it was just 24 hours or 12 hours, that I could spend with her is enough for me."

"Ada, you know she likes Harry, right?" Neville frowned at the girl.

"And I know how she feels too, Neville. What she's feeling with Harry is what I'm feeling with her, the only difference is she has hope, I don't." Amanda chuckled softly when she saw the sad smiles on their faces. "I'll be fine. Aren't I always? And don't worry, she won't get hurt. I'll make sure she won't."

"This time might be different, Ada," said Neville in a warning tone. "I'm much more concerned about you being hurt than you hurting her."

"I won't." Amanda smiled reassuringly at them. When they still looked unconvinced, she let out a sigh. "Come on, you two. Don't you have any faith in me? Don't you think she'll fall in love with me in these 20 days?" The two exchanged glances, and that made Amanda's face falter slightly before she put a smile back on her face. "I know what I got into, and I don't regret it so please, let me be?" Neville and Luna sighed and nodded.

"To you and your 20 days, Ada." Neville raised his glass to her. Amanda and Luna laughed before they clinked their glasses. Amanda smiled and sipped her firewhiskey. She needed that toast. She knew it was a bad deal she made. She made a risk of her feelings in this game of love, and when feelings were involved in wagers and risks, it wasn't bound to end well.

When Amanda got home that night, she stopped at the door and watched Ginny sleep on the couch. She hesitated before taking Ginny into her arms and bringing her to the Gryffindor's room. She tucked Ginny in and stroked her hair. "I love you." She whispered softly before leaving the room and going to her own. No matter what anyone would say, Amanda would never regret this deal. She gulped when she remembered her friends. What would they say if they found out? Oh, everyone, especially Eliza, would think she was stupid. She just hoped they wouldn't find out... at least not yet.
