xv. the rollercoaster of events

With hearty grins, Noah and Neville were staring at Ginny who was staring at Jemina who was passionately teaching the other members of Dumbledore's Army how to use the Healing Spell, Cicatrize. Their plan did work for the two girls stopped acting like strangers and were acting like two lovesick puppies, and though they were just waiting for Jemina and Ginny to tell them what was going on between them, they were sure that something was going on with the two of them.
So, what was the status of Ginny and Jemina's relationship? Friends? Lovers? Like they agreed on, they would take it slow. Until the day that they were both ready to finally cross the line and proudly say they were... girlfriends.
Jemina could almost feel that someone was looking at her and blushed when she turned around and her eyes met with Ginny's, the Gryffindor having a soft smile on her face as she watched Jemina.
"Alright, we're done." Jemina smiled at the group she was handling before sending a thumbs up at Neville and Noah and standing beside Ginny.
"You were amazing like always." Ginny whispered to Jemina who blushed once more at the compliment.
"And you made my heart flutter as usual, Miss Weasley." Jemina whispered back to her before frowning at the large bruise on her face. "You should be careful."
"You're one to talk." Ginny rolled her eyes before her eyes twinkled with her idea. "Can you give it a kiss so the pain would lessen a little?"
Jemina blushed at Ginny's request, but seeing the Gryffindor pout and wait in anticipation, she leant in and placed a soft kiss on Ginny's bruise, making the Gryffindor smile widely. "It's all better now."
"You're too adorable." Jemina grinned when this time, it was Ginny who blushed. The two of them looked at each other, red cheeks and sweet smiles. They were so lost in their moment that they didn't even notice how everyone was staring at them.
"Excuse us, you two." Noah finally said after a few moments, breaking the moment between the two and making Ginny and Jemina look at him in confusion. "If you're done checking each other out... I mean, checking each other's faces, can we wrap it up?"
"Y-Yeah."
"S-S-Sorry."
Jemina and Ginny stuttered, ignoring the teasing glances sent in their way. They didn't move apart from each other. They just took their gazes away from each other and looked at Neville and Noah.
Neville smiled widely at all of them, proud of what they've done so far. "So far, we've finished with the Wand Cancellation Spell, the Leg and Arm Locking Spell, the Fireworks Spell, the old spells Harry taught us... and finally, the Healing Spell. I just want to tell you all we've done so well, fighting and being brave. Like Professor Dumbledore said before, 'Happiness can be found in even the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.' We are the light in the dark, so be proud and give yourselves a pat on the back. You all deserve it. That's all for now then, we'll see you next time! Happy Easter."
Everyone greeted each other a Happy Easter, smiling widely and proving that they are indeed the light in the dark. Despite the fear and the pain, they were not going to give up and push through until the end. This was their fight too, and they were going to keep on fighting until the day Harry and Deanna come back. They believed in the two. They always will.
Once Neville, Noah, Ginny and Jemina were left alone, the four of them grinned at each other. They have done really well so far. If only Luna was there with them then the Nosebusters could have been complete. But like they said, they'd continue this fight for Luna too. So that when she returned, she would be so proud of what they have done.
"Are you going to spend your Easter with Aberforth and Ariana?" Ginny asked Jemina while they fixed up the room as usual.
"Yeah." Jemina nodded in response. "They've been taking good care of me so far. I'm glad they're here."
"I'm glad too." Ginny smiled softly at Jemina, and the latter smiled back at her as they finished up cleaning and left the Room of Requirement with Neville and Noah, all of them talking about their plans for the Easter break. And they stopped at the middle of the staircase, knowing that it was time for them to part once more.
"I'll be waiting for you here." Jemina said in her soft voice, making Ginny smile widely knowing that there was someone who would always wait for her no matter how long.
"The wait will be worth it." Ginny winked at her, chuckling when Jemina blushed, before she hugged the Hufflepuff tightly. Jemina hugged her back right away with a soft smile on her face. "Happy Easter, Jem."
"Happy Easter, Gin."
The two of them pulled back and grinned, lost in their own world and forgetting their two friends who could only sigh at the sight. Despite the darkness that surrounded them, there was still a light that shone so bright it was hurting Neville and Noah's eyes.
That was, in Neville and Noah's words, the blinding smiles that Jemina and Ginny had only for each other.

"Easter means rebirth, and... No, no, no!"
Ginny sighed and crumpled up another piece of paper, throwing it on the floor. It was currently the Easter break, and she would be lying if she said she didn't miss Jemina. She missed the badger so much she dreamt of her night and day and wanted to send her a letter although she knew it wasn't allowed. So, to at least lessen her woes about missing Jemina, she decided to make a letter that she would give once they come back to Hogwarts.
Ginny already made her decision. She was going to accept Jemina's confession when she comes back. Jemina had waited for so long already. Imagine that. She loved Ginny for 5 years until now. Just thinking about it made Ginny's heart flutter. She never thought love could feel like this. No one ever treated her like this before, but Jemina... Jemina made her feel like a princess, like there was no one else like her... She made her feel loved.
Jemina loved Ginny, and Ginny accepted it now. She loved Jemina back. And that was why she was practicing a way to accept Jemina's confession in the most romantic way possible. She had her mind set on being the best girlfriend to the best woman in this world.
"What are you doing?"
Ginny jumped in surprise when she heard the familiar voices of her twin brothers behind her and glared at them. "What are you two doing in my room?"
"Oh. Look, Georgie." Fred snatched up the paper on Ginny's table, making the youngest Weasley's eyes widen as she jumped to take it from them but failed to do so. "To the brave and lovely badger whose beauty cannot be compared to the night sky full of stars, Jemina Iris Nightingale โ "
"Stop!" Ginny finally got the paper from them and pointed at the door. "Get out."
"Dear Freddie, Ginny's in love. Who is this Jemina Nightingale that has captured our dear sister's heart?" George wiggled his eyebrows at his sister. Looking at them, Ginny could only groan in frustration. She knew they wouldn't let her go without finding out who Jemina was.
"She's a Hufflepuff in my year." Ginny started telling them, sitting down on her chair, while Fred and George sat down on her bed with teasing grins. As Ginny continued telling them about Jemina, the twins could only smile as they saw how Ginny loved Jemina. Her eyes shone with happiness that they had never seen before. Her smile was so wide her cheeks were probably hurting.
And she was glowing. Ginny was glowing with love and joy. That was enough for them to know that Jemina was the right person for Ginny.
"And she's loved me since I'm 11, but because we agreed to take it slow, we aren't officially together yet." Ginny rambled on and on with a smile. "So, when I come back, I'm going to accept her confession. That's why I was making a letter."
"Why even make a letter when you can just kiss her and tell her you love her?" Fred suggested with a grin, making George laugh while Ginny blushed.
"I want to make it romantic!" Ginny frowned at them, looking back at the letter she was trying to write. Jemina was a special person to her who deserved a special confession too.
"But she already loves you." George backed his twin up, both of them trying to make their points to Ginny. "She won't need letters or roses or whatever romantic surprise you're planning. All she would want to hear is that you love her too."
Ginny was about to protest again but she soon realized they were right. She was making things complicated when there was only one thing she needed to do. Tell Jemina she loved her.
"You're right for once." Ginny grinned at her two brothers who gasped mockingly and acted offended with Ginny's words. She hugged them tight and smiled softly. "Thank you."
"We got you, Gin." The two hugged her back right away, happy to see Ginny in love with someone who seemed to love her just as much.
"Oh, don't forget to introduce us, yeah?" Fred suddenly said when they pulled away.
"We need to know if she's fitting for our Ginevra." George finished with a laugh.
"Oh, shut it, you two." Ginny rolled her eyes. "Jem's the perfect person. She's too kind and she'd probably entertain all your jokes and pranks."
The three of them laughed together after that, realizing that was probably going to happen, when all of a sudden, the doors opened, revealing Molly with a grim expression on her face.
"We need to go."

Jemina packed up her things since she was going to Hogwarts again tomorrow, smiling when she remembered Ginny. She was going to see the redhead again after days, and she was planning to give Ginny this new sweater she knitted.
"I need a drink." Jemina mumbled when she saw her cup was empty and went down to get some water. She heard Aberforth and Ariana talking in serious voices and decided to just get water later. She was about to go up when...
"Ab, I hate is as much as you do, but I don't see any way to convince Deanna of stopping."
Deanna? Jemina stopped in her tracks and despite knowing she shouldn't eavesdrop, she did so anyways. What about Deanna?
"But Ari! I can't lose her as well." Aberforth cried out, clenching the rag in his hand. "I've lost everything. Mum and Dad, you, Albus and now, even Deanna? The poor kid didn't even have the chance to enjoy her life, and now, she's going to have to die just to save the world?"
Jemina's entire world stopped at that moment. What? Deanna was going to die? In her shock, she accidentally let go of the cup she was holding. The cup broke and the shards scattered through the stairs, making Aberforth and Ariana's eyes widen when they realized Jemina was listening.
Wiping away his tears, Aberforth rushed to the stairs and let out a sigh when he saw a still and surprised Jemina there. He waved his wand and cleaned up the broken shards of the cup.
"Deanna is going to die?" Jemina asked Aberforth in a shaky voice, hoping she heard wrong. The old man though didn't see a reason to hide it anymore. Everyone was going to find out anyways, so he only nodded without a word.
Jemina's knees felt weak, so she sat down on the steps and let her tears fall. Deanna who had gone through so much and lost so much was going to die? What kind of joke is this? Did fate have something against Deanna? Why? Why her? Why couldn't it be Jemina or someone else? Why Deanna?
Aberforth calmly made his way to sit beside Jemina and patted the young girl on the back. Jemina cried into his shoulder, hoping with Aberforth that someone could save Deanna from the fate that was awaiting her. "Why? Why does she need to die? W-Why her?"
Both of them were heartbroken for Deanna, only wishing for her happiness and that though the chances were low, she would still be able to be happy and have the life she wanted after this.
"The greater good." Aberforth answered in a sad voice. "All for the damned greater good."

It was the day the Easter Break ended. Jemina had her things packed and smiled at Aberforth and Ariana, ready to return to Hogwarts. Back to Ginny.
It was obvious by the look on her face that she didn't sleep at all. After crying last night, she finally found out the entire truth. How Deanna was the salvation of the Wizarding World, how she had this connection with Voldemort and how she was going to... die.
It was all so heartbreaking for her because Deanna was always staying strong and encouraging them, but she was literally carrying the weight of the entire world on her shoulders... if she only knew. If she only knew what Deanna was going to go through, she would have been a better friend to her.
However, like she promised Aberforth and Ariana, she would keep it a secret. It was what Deanna would want and she respected the older Hufflepuff's wishes.
"Thank you for everything again." Jemina said softly to the two of them. "I'll get going now."
"Thank you too... Jemina." Aberforth patted her on the shoulder. "Take care."
"You too, Ab." Jemina sent him one last smile before she went into the portrait passageway with Ariana, back to Hogwarts. She needed Ginny, she needed her comfort and warmth because she had no idea how to act normal after knowing all this.
"Deanna's a stubborn girl." Ariana suddenly spoke when she saw Jemina deep in thought. "No matter how much we all want her to save herself, she would still put everyone else first. So, the only thing we can do is to make sure she knows how much we love her. That everything will be alright in the end. That's all we can do, but that is everything to her."
Jemina's eyes softened when they arrived at the end. She smiled at Ariana and nodded. "And that's what we're going to do, Ariana. Thank you."
"I'll see you soon, Jemina." Ariana greeted her with a smile before Jemina left the portrait and walked into the Room of Requirement where Noah and Neville were. But the smile on her face faded when she saw Noah and Neville looking grim once more. She had a bad feeling about this. It suddenly reminded her of the time Luna didn't come back.
"Noah? Nev?" Jemina spoke up hesitantly and knew her bad feeling was right when she saw their frowns grew. Wait โ Ginny wasn't here. And Jemina's entire being turned tense. Did something happen? Where was Ginny? Why wasn't she here? "Where's Ginny?"
"Jem... Sit down first." Noah stood up and made the girl sit down in front of him and Neville.
"Where is she? Did something happen?" Jemina asked once more, her worry increasing with every second that passed that they weren't answering her questions.
"Before you continue asking, let us tell you what happened first, okay?" Noah calmed her down, glancing at Neville to take the lead. When Jemina calmed down a little and nodded, she stared at the two boys who were gesturing to each other to talk.
The Gryffindor hesitated before nodding, knowing what Jemina felt. Jemina was probably so tense right now because she had no idea what happened to Ginny. "Don't worry, Ginny's safe."
Jemina could let out a breath of fresh air after that. Thank the deities. They could have told her that first to at least not let her worry and panic, right? "And where is she?"
"Well, the good thing is Luna's fine now and she's with Eleanor." Noah continued on, making Jemina's eyes widen in glee. Luna and Eleanor were okay! Finally, their friends were safe from the Death Eaters. "Luna was rescued by Deanna, Harry, Hermione and Ron."
Jemina felt her heart ache again at the mention of Deanna's name, but she continued listening to the story about what happened. At least, Deanna was still alive... But in the future... No, she shouldn't be like that.
"But because they saw Ron, it isn't safe for the Weasleys anymore." Neville explained. "So, they packed up and moved away for the meantime to go into hiding. Ginny needs to hide too for the meantime."
"Oh." Jemina could only say after hearing everything. She missed Ginny a lot, but her safety was more important than anything else. Jemina felt so helpless. First, Deanna. And now, Ginny and the Weasleys. Could she really not do anything to help them? Could she only wait?
"So, what do we do now?" Noah asked, and they all went silent after that. Should they continue the fight when everything was seeming so hopeless? When 5 was reduced to 3?
But Jemina remembered Deanna and the fate that was awaiting her. She remembered Harry, Ron, Hermione and all the others who were risking their lives just to bring Voldemort down. She remembered Eleanor who chose to run instead of hiding to let the Death Eaters know Muggleborns were not scared of them. She remembered her family who died because of this war.
Jemina remembered Ginny who never faltered when facing off against the Death Eaters and always encouraged them to keep going on. And that was enough for Jemina to make her decision.
"I'm not giving up." Jemina said in a resolute tone. "If they're fighting hard out there and doing all they can to let those Death Eaters know that there are still people rebelling against them, shouldn't I do the same? I understand if you guys and the others won't continue anymore. That's completely valid. But I... I just want to fight until the end."
"Well, that's settled then." Neville smiled widely at the two Hufflepuffs who grinned back at them, the fire of determination burning wildly in their eyes. They've started this fight, and they were going to push through with it to the end.
"Dumbledore's Army is not going down."
