Rougé - This is a nickname from Sanji specifically in reference to her red hair, and is used as an affectionate term of endearment. Rougé is also French for Red.

Sugar/Sweetheart/Darlin'/Hun - Ruby will use these in reference to OTHERS, or when addressing them. This is because she is Southern - like a sourthern belle accent - (at least if she was from our world, she would be, but real lfie places don't exist in their world so yeah-)

Rosey - Another affectionate name, this time used by Luffy is a reference to her red hair, and rosey cheeks.

- Redhead - Redhead is actually a nickname that Ace called her when they first met. It's neither affectionate, nor an insult, since its quite literally an observation.

-Toothpick - Now this is an insult that Ace calls her when they argue, to which she calls him Flamebrain or Hothead. If anyone called her this after Ace's death, she would attempt to rip their face off.

- Prick - Another playful insult from Ace, since they're rivals. This nickname is usually followed by a fight between the two, usually ending in a tie or it being broken up by someone else.

- Thorn - Just like the saying 'a Thorn in my side', this is an insult. It's also the insult that was used for Ruby by the people who hunted her grandfather. If you call her this, you will absolutely destroy any trust she had in you.

- Cheeks - This is Buggy's nickname for her because she has a round face and squishy cheeks.

Bounty: Her bounty was expunged as she is the daughter of Mihawk, who had his own bounty cancelled when he became a warlord.

Reason: She is allied with the world government when we first meet her, as the daughter of one of the seven warlords, Dracule Mihawk. Eventually, after disowning her father, her bounty is revealed, but not until she has joined the Straw Hats.

Devil Fruit (Name, Powers, Strengths, Weaknesses): Her Devil Fruit is the Hari Hari no Mi, or the Needle Needle Fruit - A silver rambutan with fleshy, pliable spikes. Under each spike is a swirl giving the fruit a pattern of sorts.

The fruit grants the user the ability to create and turn into needles at will, making them a needle human.

In-Depth -

When paired with her observation haki, this fruit becomes a huge threat. The user can create needles of varying lengths and pierce the target both internally and externally. They can also turn their body into a giant needle for travel, or turn their body into multiple needles which they can control like a hive mind. When paired with armament haki the needles become extremely durable and can go toe to toe with swords and pole arms.

Techniques

Needle Arrow: If she were to fulfil the role of marksman, Ruby uses her needles like tiny arrows to hit specific points on her target and cause huge damage. For example, if she pierced a Needle into someone's neck, she could cause their throat to bleed profusely.

Needle Impact: The user turns their body into one giant needle and flings themselves in a direction. They can change direction if they hit a surface at the right angle making this a great move for travel.

Needle Barrage: The user turns their hands into a swarm of needles which they can telekinetically control, launching them into a nearly unblockable attack.

Exploding Needle Barrage: The user explodes into a giant swarm of needles they can control like a hive. This can be used for a variety of purposes.

Nerve Sever: The user uses their observation haki to target the opponent's nerves and sends a needle severing it. This could be fatal or it could paralyze the opponent making this a great move for assassination.

Poison Needle: The user dips their needles into a poisonous substance adding poison damage to their attacks.

Needle Blade: The user creates a large needle that they imbue with armament haki to use as a sword. She uses this to swordfight the most.

Awakening
Once this fruit is awakened, the user gains the ability to turn their surroundings into needles, including air, making it easy to cut into foes' lungs. The needles are so thin and small that they are barely detectable, like shards of glass. This, however, can also effect her Allies if she isn't careful.

The standard devil fruit weaknesses, as well as an intolerance to heat (because needles are made of metal and can easily melt).

Personality: A good way to describe her is warm on the inside, cold on the outside. She has this protective personality that she puts on in front of strangers of this cold-hearted, stoic government dog. However, when she's sailing the seas with the Strawhats, she's a lot warmer, always smiling and cracking jokes. She can be quick to anger if someone picks a fight with her, but she's also sorta lazy and sometimes won't even bother to start a fight, instead choosing to nap. Ruby is a nature lover, so she will often be found cloud-gazing on the ship as well. She loves being at the top of the crow's nest and feeling the wind in her hair. When Sanji love-bombs her, she calls him an idiot and smacks him away with this ridiculous blush on her face since it is rather embarrassing.

When we first meet her, she is a government dog working for and with Mihawk to capture Luffy and take him to Garp. As such, her personality comes across as flirty as she stands at the bar searching for the whereabouts of the strawhat pirate. However, when she's just on casual missions, she's stoic and quiet, which she learned from her father. She's quick to come up with a witty comeback, and she's just as sassy as her dad.

Role In Crew: Tailor - As you can imagine, her needle abilities make it a piece of cake to sew together incredibly strong garments for everyone to wear be it in casual settings, formal settings or battle settings. This is her permanent role, yet sometimes she multi-roles as an assassin.

Crush: Sanji

Relationship with crush: When the two first met, Sanji had been kicked out of his role as chef at the baratie and he was stuck bartending by Zeff. Ruby and Mihawk had been called in to help retrieve Luffy by any means necessary, so she was at the bar looking for answers as to where she could find Straw Hat Luffy. Sanji, however, found her intimidating nature rather charming, and made her a gorgeous fruity cocktail one would only die to drink. They flirted back and fourth until she asked him about Luffy, and he gave up the information almost immediately.

Backup Crush: Zoro

Relationship with backup crush: Ruby and Zoro have always been sort of acquaintances, since they were both originally swordsmen. They actually met on a mission a while ago, where Ruby missed out on a big bounty because she was admiring Zoro's swordsmanship. Zoro likes her because she can keep up with him whilst he's fighting or whilst he's drinking and he finds her respectable as she helps him after Mihawk gives him his scar.

Backup Backup Crush: Ace

Relationship With B.B Crush: This is very rivals to lovers. Their constant fighting and bickering ends up with the two falling for each other. Ace is the first to fall, and this makes for an interesting dynamic where he backs off from the fighting and starts to treat her with respect, though everytime he gets close, Ruby sprays him with water like you would spray a cat. Eventually, Ruby gives up and lets down the walls around her heart to let him in. In their relationship, the name calling still happens, but it's more affectionate.

Live Action - Usopp, since she finds him unbelievably funny, and she's quite happy to listen to his stories as it fills her with a sense of childlike whimsy.

Anime - Brook because she thinks he is very fun to be around, and she'll sing with him and style him with fabulous clothes.

Backstory:
As a child, she was born to a loving mother and father who were slaughtered by the crossfire of a marine vs pirate battle (One that we hear of in a different oc's backstory), so Ruby became a run away and ran to her uncle and aunt's home, and they sent her to her grandparents, not wanting to burden themselves with such a child. There, she was more or less raised by her grandfather, a world famous pirate hunter, and taught how to shoot all sorts of weapons. From bows and arrows to pistols to rifles to even darts, Ruby hit her target perfectly every single time. At one point, she even split a needle clean in half with another needle. These weren't the only skills he taught her, as he also taught her how to sew, and how to draw, and read and measure. When the Navy found out Ruby's Grandfather had retrieved knowlege about the blank century and had been hiding it from the Navy, they stormed his house and slaughtered him. His last dying words were for her to fulfil his dreams of being the world's greatest tailor as well as her own dreams of being free to love and laugh. From there she ran away to the coast and stowed away on a little coffin shaped ship that was headed to an island. Which one? She didn't know. But she was now homeless and alone with no family. She cried as she stayed outside for days, no food or drink, but she was training. Training herself harshly no matter the climate. Mihawk witnessed her doing this, and took her under his wing as his daughter and as his apprentice, since he saw grand promise in her.

Growing up with Mihawk wasn't easy. He would constantly push her to be better, until one day where she managed to put him on the floor. Oddly enough, she felt...bad. So she helped him up to his feet, from their, he declared her as worthy to be his apprentice, excited to see how she would grow into a talented swordswoman, and maybe surpass him.

After a few years, Ruby is infamous for being not only one of the most famous gamblers in the seas, but also as one of the most feared pirates. Most people didn't even believe she existed, and some didn't dare utter her name as if she was some sort of ghost story. On one of her missions, she ran into Zoro, developing a great admiration for the swordsman. In a future hired mission from Garp, Ruby and Mihawk are seen taking down Don Crieg and his armada of ships, before they are persuaded to chase down the 'brightest new upstart', Monkey D Luffy. They agree to go and end up at the baratie, where Ruby first bumps into Sanji at the bar.

Other:

- Ruby used to train herself to the point of passing out just to get Mihawk's attention. Just for him to notice her as his daughter.

- Ruby's favourite food is Seafood Pasta, and her least favourite is Cotton Candy because it lacks nutritional value.

- Ruby cannot stand too much heat otherwise she will pass out, making warm environments a struggle for her.

- Because of her intolerance of heat, this also means Ruby is intolerant of Ace. Somehow though, this doesn't affect her opinion of Sanji.

- The rivalry between Ruby and Ace sparks 'rivals to lovers' shippers to ship them.

-After Ace's death, Ruby is riddled with the guilt of not apolosing for her harsh words against him.

- When Ruby finally relaxes, she finds it hard to fall asleep on the Merry, and so most nights she can be found at the front of the ship, watching the waves.
