|| little warning: I will describe Y/N for aesthetic purpose but feel free to change anything that does not apply to your Y/N, thanks for understanding! ||
Y/N wrapped shyly her right arm around Jacob's left arm he was offering, and with a smile, they both went out.
As they were walking at a slow pace, Jacob took some time to observe Y/N a bit more. Her black hair was tied in a bun with a few strands of hair sticking out, her brown eyes were shining in the moonlight and her cheeks were red maybe because of the chill weather. The young woman was wearing a white chemise underneath a navy-blue waistcoat with black pants and a black overskirt that was not too long; above all, she was wearing a dark blue coat. As for shoes, she decided to wear black boots with small heels, making her slightly taller than Jacob but he was not bothered, in contrary he thought it was a cute charm of hers.
Y/N was barely talking and was getting redder by the second thanks to Jacob staring at her, which he soon noticed: "Am I making you uncomfortable love?", "n-no, I am just not the type to talk a lot, especially when I don't know the person" she answers, averting her eyes from his. The man snickered before speaking again: "how does diner sounds? You must be hungry, and I want to get to know you some more" Y/N looks at him and noticed he had a kind smile; feeling like he had good intentions she accepted.
The place Jacob brought her to was not much of a distinguished restaurant but more of an inn. Y/N was not going to judge so fast, she was going to wait to taste the food to make an opinion, maybe as Jacob said it will taste much more delicious than it looks. The two sat down on a table near the window and soon enough, Jacob ordered some ale with the food. The young man laid back on his chair and crossed his arms on his chest then spoke: "So, I have never quite caught your name..." hearing his voice, she stops looking at the people walking in streets and turns her head to him, finally looking in his hazel eyes. Upon realizing the question, she pondered for a few seconds; should she tell him her real name, risking anything about the soulmate marks, or should she hide it for now? Not wanting to make him feel attached to her just because of this myth, she decided to lie, regretting it instantly: "Adélaïde, Mr. Frye".
"Adélaïde...How beautiful, just like you" he winks at her, "what are you doing here in London?" he says with a smile "You are assuming I'm not from here, sir".
"Maybe because your accent and name gave it away and please, just call me Jacob, love" she blushes, realizing that indeed her affirmation sounded stupid and rude "that is correct, from France. Let us just say I have run away from a particular unpleasant situation" after finishing her sentence, she took a sip of her pint which arrived during their little conversation "and what is this situation?" he leans in a bit closer to her with a smirk on his face, crossing his arms on the table. 'His handsome face is going to be the end of me' Y/N thought "I do not think we are close enough to be talking about this".
"So, you are proposing for us to be closer then...I would not mind" He answers with a little smile. Their conversation was cut off when the food arrived, and indeed the food does not look good. Y/N was perplexed upon seeing her plate in front of her, frowning a bit "Just taste it, I swear it taste divine" says Jacob with his mouth full. Y/N took her fork in her hand and brought the food in her mouth, taking her time to taste it. Her eyes widened once she has swallowed; the food was excellent, and the meat was cooked just how she likes it.
During the whole meal, both continued to eat while talking about everything and anything, except for more delicate matters. Y/N learned that Jacob, behind his intimidating and fearless façade, was a real softie and funny at that. 'What does this man do not have?' she thought while smiling. Once they were done, Jacob paid and off they were, walking back to Y/N's place or should I say Elizabeth's house. But walking would take too long so Jacob decided to call (steal really) a carriage that was there. The gentleman that he is, he proposed for her to get inside but she refused, wanting to ride alongside him. This made Jacob laugh lightly and accepted. Once both were on the carriage, Jacob started ordering the horses to walk.
Y/N was getting tired and without realizing, let her head rest on his shoulder. At first, Jacob was surprised but decided to let it be, thinking she was getting cuter by the second. After 15 minutes, the carriage stopped in front of the house Y/N was staying in and she still was not awake. Jacob had to poke her cheek gently a few times before she opened her eyes. She was in a daze and her lips turned into a small pout as she wakes up. Jacob only smiled and helped her get down the carriage; Y/N then took her spare keys to open the front door and once the door open, she steps in. turning around to close the door, she gently smiles over to Jacob and thanked him, wishing him to have a safe trip back to his home, before closing it and going to her room to sleep.
Y/N did not sleep that night; all she could think about was the sudden outing Jacob suggested and especially the lie she made up for stupid reasons really! All the time she spent getting ready, all she could think about was how to tell him, how to apologize and why she did that, cursing herself for such stupidity. If she had to describe herself in general, she would consider herself an intellect, able to get out of any situation thanks to her smart mouth, but this time, she messed up and she knew this will have consequences unless she tells him quick enough.
All this thinking completely ruins her, not being able to focus at work or messing whenever she was doing something. In the end, she still did not know what to do but she had to meet Jacob that is for sure.
Once the day was over, they were about to go back home when Jacob entered to Clinique like the day before, immediately approaching Y/N with his usual big toothy smile: "Adélaïde!" Y/N cringed inside upon hearing her fake name "My sister, her soon-to-be-boyfriend and I are having a little game night, I was thinking you could join us".
Upon hearing the name, Elizabeth turned towards Jacob, confused: "Adélaïde?" and after catching Y/N's eyes and expression, all tense, she understood she had to go with the flow "Ah, yes! Adélaïde..." slowly turning her back to Jacob to face Y/N, she immediately mouths the words 'what the bloody hell is going on?'
Y/N just lightly shakes her head at her before facing Jacob with a smile: "I would be delighted to be part of it, thank you for proposing" Jacob's smile got even bigger and offered his arm for her to take that she kindly accepted. and off they went.
The ride to the train hideout was quick and quiet. Jacob remained silent, simply smiling to himself while Y/N was debating on how to tell him her real name, eating the skin inside her mouth in the process; a sort of tic she has when heavily stressed.
Like last time, Jacob helped her get down before heading inside the train station of Westminster, and luckily, they did not have to wait as the train just entered the station when they arrived. The inside was nicely decorated; the carriage they were in had two desks, both full of papers scattered around even some were on the floor, also a huge board with thread, portraits of people with a red cross on it, all bound in the centre with a portrait of Crawford Starrick. Yes, Y/N knew the man, simply because Elizabeth's husband talks about him at diner, but she does not know much. In front that board, against the opposite wall, was placed a loveseat and next to it a safe.
Jacob continued the little visit of the train hideout until they both got inside another carriage where was installed a mini bar. Two other people were there: a man, tanner than most English men and dark hair, as long as Jacob's, the way he was standing shown a sort of gentle and calm aura; and a woman, smaller than Y/N in height and her dark brown hair tied into a low bun, had also notable blue-green eyes and freckles once Y/N got closer to her. Jacob introduced her as his twin sister Evie and the other man as Henry (or Greenie as Jacob calls him).
At first, Y/N was acting very shy in front of those two strangers, barely talking but listening to everything they were saying, and of course, she introduced herself as Adélaïde, this stupid girl. But as time went on, and more drinks were swallowed, she got comfortable with them. For some time, all they did was talking and telling each other about some anecdotes or adventures, when suddenly Jacob opened his mouth to suggest a game: "How about...we play...truth or dare..." his tone of voice suggested he was already drunk.
"oh no, you two are horrible when you play this game..." responds Henry, placing his head in his hands. Evie just responded by yelling, showing her agreement on the suggestion. Jacob then placed an empty bottle in the middle of the table and spin it around which landed on Evie. "Dare" she says, for a few seconds Jacob was thinking about what to give her: "go on top of the train and yell insults to the first person you see", scoffing and saying this was too easy, she did as he said, climbing on top as Y/N heard Evie's heels clacking on the rooftop of the carriage. And suddenly, Evie's strong voice was heard, cursing at the first poor victim she laid her gaze upon, making the three others laugh their arses off. Once done, she got back inside and smiled proudly in direction of her brother and spin the bottle around again, landing on Jacob who answered "dare".
Poor boy had to replace his top hat with the any pair of pants he could find which was his of course. The game went on for a while, barely landing on Y/N thankfully for her but she could not escape it, it was her turn. Scared of what kind of dare they could give her she decided to play safe and answered "truth", making Jacob and Evie scoff while Henry simply booed her: "tell us something about you that even Elizabeth does not know about!" asks Jacob as he was the one who spin the bottle just before, "well, I will just say that I did a lot of things during by teenage years, such as getting tattoos. I have 8 of them".
Her respond left the room silent, clearly they were not expecting that kind of answer. Slowly, Evie raised her glass and with a smile, yelled a "show us" to which Y/N simply said she will keep that for her next turn, is she chooses dare that is.
But guess what? Tonight was not the night they were about to see her tattoos because she did not get another turn and soon enough fall asleep on the table. Henry, the most sober, proposed to give a ride back home to Y/N but Jacob protested, wanting to be the one to bring her back. And he did, suddenly becoming sober thanks to the responsibility he had. Not wanting to wake the whole house, he decided to quietly pick the lock, sat her down on a chair to unlace her clothes off so she could breathe properly and at least be comfortable on her bed to sleep; and finally, he laid her on her bed and left as quiet and quick as possible.
|| I got heavily inspired by another story that i've read where they play truth or dare, so if you find some similarities with this story and mine, that is why ||
