THE RAIN CONTINUED TO POUR AS she walked along the streets of piltover. she gained looks from multiple of the pilties, her hood over her head while she skidded her busted black boots on the ground.

she took a deep breath as she walked into a dark alley way, her breath was shaky as she tumbled over into a wall. her legs became weak, her back hurt and her heart broke.

after jinx's death roll party, she hadn't really payed any attention to herself. focusing on vi and caitlyn, she realised though, the shimmer started to kick in after she came back to reality.

the shimmer swam through her body that night, healing her. the bullet hole only left a small scar but otherwise she was completely fine.

but thats not what vi or caitlyn think. the two of them both don't know she had been on shimmer, that she had a past with it. and as far as they knew, she was still somewhat injured, but a quick healer.

honestly, she knew she had to tell the girls but she had no idea how to. how to explain the same drug that turned jinx insane, she was once on too. but she was alot different.

it made no sense to her, so why would it make any sense to them?

her hands clutched her head as she started to pace back and forth, the words caitlyn spoke ran through her head. "fuck!" she punched the brick wall.

her head rung as she remembered everything. her parents bodies, her cries and screams, how the enforcers looked, staring at her broken soul.

it angered her, and the fact caitlyn offered her to become one of those monsters. maeve was mad when she found out caitlyn was an enforcer the night she reunited with vi, and yes she got over it, getting to know her.

but her becoming one? theres so many reasons why thats not happening. she'd probably kill someone, hurt them badly due to the fact she knew she had that power.

she wasn't insane. she was blind, angry, and revengeful.

her gaze moved from the floor up to the area infront of her. a large, bright sign shined brightly in her face. a bar sat infront of her, sure, probably a rich people bar, but she needed it.

she let out a small breath before grabbing ahold of the handle, pulling it open to be met with multiple sweaty bodies.

the smell of alcohol and rich people perfume filled her nose as she pushed past multiple people. immediately going to the bar and being met with a woman.

her hair was long, the colour of it a dark purple as she flung a towel over her shoulder. her false lashes fluttered underneath the flickering lights, her smile sweet as she looked at the girl.

"you look rough, what can i get ya'?" she immediately grabbed a glass, "the quickest thing that will make me drunk." she said with a small scowl, too irritated to fake a smile.

her fingertips tapped against the wood as she looked around the dance floor. multiple people winking and smiling at her, but she didn't notice nor did she care.

"here you go, on me." she winked. maeve immediately grabbed it, taking a large sip and then rising it in the air as a thank you.

maeves frown caused the bartenders eyebrows to furrow, she cleaned the glass in her hand as she spoke up. "i'm ashley."

"maeve." maeve nodded, taking another sip of the drink in her hands. "nice to meet you, maeve... so, who's the lucky fella? or, woman?" she chuckled underneath her breath.

maeve took a moment of silence as she continued to drink her drink, noticing the affects work immediately on her body. "her names violet."

"hm, violet? did she do something or are you a sneaky one?" ashley laughed as she continued the glasses, wiping them down with a cloth.

the action reminded maeve of vander. how she would sit at the bar and draw while he cleaned the glasses in the exact same way, she smiled.

"maeve?" ashley waved her hand, "oh, sorry."

maeve started to frown again, "no, no. she didn't do anything, it isn't like that. i mean— i mean it could be? but its— its complicated."

maeve stuttered over her words as she took another sip of her drink, awaiting ashleys reaction. "complicated? as in, what way?"

"we grew up together, but then alot happened and we didn't see eachother for years," she paused as she sighed and took another sip. "but now we've like— reunited. and everything is so different."

sip after sip after sip, drink after drink, soon she felt like she was on top of the world. after a small moment, ashley and maeve were still talking. and the brunette couldn't shut up after it all.

"you know, i think you like her." ashley served her another drink, maeve snorted at the comment, a sarcastic smile sitting on her lips.

"like her? no way! sure shes pretty, and shes got a pretty smile. and i get a little jealous everytime i see her even interact with another girl, but i do not like her! i hate her actually."

maeve was in complete denial, and nothing could pull her out of it. not even the bartender infront of her who laughed after she spoke, "you are so down bad." she shook her head.

but maeve stayed silent, her head spun as she started to become less tense. "yeah, your wrong." she shook her head.

her body started to levitate off of the stool by itself while she walked herself towards the dance floor without another word to ashley.

she swung her hips to the beat of the music, the air in the room suffocating as she threw her hands up in the air. she had no idea where her jacket went as she was now left in her black shirt and black jeans.

the same outfit she had worn for days. the only clothes of caitlyns that actually fit her without suffocating her or it not being some sort of uniform.

her eyes fluttered open as she noticed the presence near her, people coming closer, trying to come up on her. but she couldn't help but imagine vi.

the same vi who was probably thinking about staying by caitlyns side, the same vi who maeve has continuously hurt, the same vi who maeve cant ever stop thinking about, the same vi maeve hates with all of her guts.

but could she ever truly?

or was it just everything bubbling inside of her, turning against the girl who didn't seem to care all those years ago. the anger turning into hatred that didn't even seem valid?

she started to become overwhelmed as a man started to grow way to close to the girl, leaning in for something that maeve knew she would be physically disgusted by if it had happened.

suddenly, without a thought, her fist swung into the guys nose. blood rushing down as he cursed, though everything started to blur as she looked around.

security was shoving past the crowd, attempting to get to the girl through the drunk bodies.

with widened eyes, maeve immediately made a run for it, her hands slamming against the door as it opened, rushing down streets and streets. the security behind her.

the adrenaline rush went straight to her head as she ran against the wind. goosebumps trailed up her body, the feeling made the girl laugh.

everytime she runs, she feels free, like she isn't so trapped in this horrible and terrifying world. but when she comes to a halt, she realises the dawn started to rise upon them all.

she turned behind her, noticing the security giving up and walking back, she laughed. running her hands through her hair, her curtain bangs rolling atop of her eyes as she breathed.

her eyes then widened with realisation, caitlyn's mothers memorial.

she immediately looked up at the sky, noticing the time going quicker and quicker as she slowly started to sober up some more.

she felt like she was stuck in the same spot for hours on end when it had only been a few minutes. she started to walk forward, a large water fountain growing in her sight.

as she continued walking forward, the sun shined dimly down onto the girls skin. as her eyes adjusted, she noticed the red haired girl sitting on the edge of the fountain.

her legs were spread as she used her hand to sheild her face, a large man laid down beside her who reminded maeve awfully of vander.

a small woman stood infront of vi, her hand out as she spoke unintelligible words to vi where maeve couldn't hear it. vi raised her hand and shook it.

"hey, vi. whos this?" maeve finally reached the girl, jealousy and sarcasm laced in her tone. "mae. this is maddie, officer. nolan"

vi widened her eyes as she introduced the girl, "oh, well. nice to meet you, maddie" maeve smiled, fluttering her eyelashes as maddie awkwardly looked away with uncomfort.

"nolan, over here, was just letting me know how cait stood so hard to get use those spots in the station." vi said as she kicked a glass bottle on the ground, helping it land with the others that scattered around the place.

maeve paused, "cait?"

vi nodded, her lips turning into a tight line as she looked up at the girl. noticing her hair and how it was messy, but the right kind of messy where its still pretty. and how she lost her jacket and is now left in the original outfit.

suddenly, the sound of fanfare filled the small silence. many, many people ahead of them, heading for the same destination with sorrow in their hearts.

"officer nolan!" a voice called out, pulling maddie's attention away from the three infront of her.

"duty calls," maddies thick accent said, a bright smile lighting up her face. "a real honor." with a final nod, she turned and hurried toward the connection.

"where the hell have you been?" vi asked, standing up and towering slightly over the girl as she stepped forward. her eyes filled with worry and frustration.

"at the bar, met a real gem." maeve winked, "real pretty."

vi scoffed as their faces were now only centimetres apart. "hm, was she?" jealousy was planted all over vi's face as she raised her eyebrows, sarcasm filling her voice.

maeve got up even closer, "nah, wasn't my type." maeve smiled as she landed a small, sarcastic pat on vi's cheek, pulling herself away as she started to walk off.

"you and mr. big foot over here, comin'?" maeve looked over her shoulder with a hop in her walk.

vi gave his leg a firm smack, her eyes not leaving maeve as she got the man up, the two of them soon following after the girl.
