꒰ ❛ nothing will fix it ❜ ꒱
▌THE BRUNETTE GIRL KNEW SHE WANTED to go back to the last drop. she needed to see the old training room, the room she loves and missed more than anything.
after crashing on the street for a few hours, she knew she had to do one more thing before figuring out her whole silco and jinx situation.
her hood stayed over her head, the tips of her hair peaking out as she walked. the limp she had went away after awhile, causing her to move faster towards the building.
she knew both sevika and silco were most likely still in building, but right now, she had one thing set in her mind. and it was closure.
closure with knowing this place was officially old news, closure knowing the kids that were once in this room hanging out, aren't kids anymore. most now facing the reality of the world, while the others have their eyes permanently shut.
she was even more careful not to tread on anything as she walked through a whole different entrance, climbing up the ladder with a couple quiet clangs as her boots hit the metal.
climbing atop of the balcony as she walked through the same hallway she was running in years ago. her hand slid over the side of her torso lightly as she remembered it.
her hand gripped against the metal handle that was connected to the large and heavy metal door.
the metal scraped against eachother as maeve winced, stopping immediately as there was a big enough gap for her to slide through.
she looked around, noticing nothing had been touched, the same way the basement had been left. maeves hands brushed against everything, the training gun sat on the small ledge infront of the range.
a small chuckle fell from her mouth as she smiled at the memories. her eyes twinkled as she continued walking around.
she heard nothing from outside the walls, knowing she was in the clear to do whatever she wanted to do. her feet treaded along the ground until her eyes landed on it.
the large red boxing machine stood in all its glory, the high score board still have vi at the very top of it, while everyone elses stood shamefully underneath it.
the small metal plate was planted on the floor, remembering how vi flung it into an enforcers head before running off with the other four, escaping.
tears welled in her eyes as she remembered vi again. "fuck off." she kicked the metal plate with her foot. the loud clang of the metal hitting the concrete echoed against the walls.
"why would i do that?" she immediately stiffened at the sound of the eerie voice. her heart started to beat harder and harder against her ribs as she slowly looked over her shoulder.
silco stood in all his glory, "i have the person i have been searching for, right infront of my own eyes." he spoke, maeve listened to every single word, turning around to face the man.
maeve stayed silent. watching as silco's glare stabbed into her, visions of the justice he's been wishing for flashed in his head.
maeve sighed, "i have no idea why you feel the need to keep doing this shit. nothings gonna fix your fuck up daughter and that deranged eye." maeve's words stabbed into him.
"zaun deserves the justice, but when our own people betray us. it doesn't set a good example, hm?" silco started to step forward.
"like the way you betrayed your own people? the way you betrayed vander?" maeve stepped forward aswell. the two of them getting closer to eachother as they glared eachother down.
silco's scarred eye glowed a neon purple for a slight moment, "i never betrayed him. he fed you lies and you all just believed him."
"'cause we were meant to believe anything you had to say? you spread poison around the streets. you ruined peoples lives." maeve stood confident and tall when it came to the man.
"i save their lives. i saved your life, i saved jinx's life. you both wouldn't be here if it weren't for me." silco and maeve were now face to face, the girls hair fell down her back as her hoodie fell off her head due to looking up for so long.
maeve looked away, his eyes scared her as she stared to long. "where is she anyway? jinx?" she asked cautiously, a hint of curiosity laced in her voice.
"i have no idea. one moment she was here, the next she wasn't," he shrugged slightly as she lit a cigar between his lips. "not much unlike you." he finished his sentence.
"wow. you really are no help. well unless, y'know, pumping people with drugs is what you think the word 'help' means." maeve chuckled with a shake of her head.
"be careful. i could have you dead in seconds." silco threatened, looking down at his shiny black shoes. "that a dare?" maeve asked.
silco let out a deep, gruff chuckle. but before he could do anything, maeve stepped forward, an immediate punch landed on his nose as she stepped back, "1, 2, 3, 4." she counted on her hand.
"seconds." she winked before running off, immediately leaving silco as he stood there, his hand holding his nose as he let out an angered groan.
maeve was yet again running from her home, going down the alley ways until she reached a certain one. no lights reached this one as maeve stood with her hands on her hips.
she glared at her knuckles as she saw them dripping with blood. adrenaline rushed through her body before noticing it all crash down, the realisation of freedom hitting her.
she would never be able to walk the lanes without getting grabbed left, right, and centre now after attacking silco.
"'fuck up daughter?' is that how you see me?" maeve immediately spun around, almost throwing herself into the wall due to how much force she brought into it.
jinx's voice haunted from the shadows, sending sharp chills down maeve's back. "powd— jinx?" maeve cut herself short as she tried searching for the girl in the shadows.
"ofcourse i don't, how was i meant to come back from silco? i had to say something." maeve shook her head, her voice was cautious yet stern.
she remembered the words jinx said to vi, stop talking to me like a child! and from then on, she would always treat jinx as someone she would never want to imagine as anyone other then powder.
jinx let out a small chuckle, "silco was right. he said you'd leave as soon as you got the chance," her boots walked along the ground.
"can't believe i thought you'd be different." maeve was struggling to figure out where her voice was coming from. it sounded like it was coming from everywhere yet nowhere at once.
almost like jinx was the subconscious inside the brunettes head. drowning her with each and every breath she took, waiting for it all to just snap away.
"im sorry, jinx—" maeve shook her head.
"no your not, your not." jinx laughed. "if you were sorry, you would've come back for me, you would've saved me." her laugh was menacing as it sounded like she was panicking.
"i could barely lift myself up! ofcourse, i wanted to come back to you. vi was on her way to stay with you, and i had to stay—" she paused. "i was going to come back, until your firelights blew up the bridge." maeve threw her hands up.
maeves gaze watched as jinx emerged from the shadows, her deep magenta iris' glowed brightly behind the dark fog, standing out to maeve more then anything.
"your a liar." jinx said with an angry expression, "let me help you, jinx. i'm here now—" maeve tried to step forward.
"no! no, you can't! im... different" her voice cracked as she continued to hold the front she was trying so hard not to knock down. maeve stepped back slightly, shocked from the sudden outburst.
maeve stayed silent, "we all are, jinx. but i've got you, i'm not gonna leave you again." the brunette confidently stepped forward, grabbing ahold of jinx's hand.
jinx's eyes moved from the ground, to maeves hand that held her, then to the eyes infront of her. jinx's expression dropped immediately, the words bouncing in her head as she stared at the genuine girl.
maeve could see jinx internally fighting herself off, her eyes bouncing around as she let her emotions wash over her.
suddenly, her eyes started to glow, the sharp purple now piercing into maeve. "i wish i could believe you, mae..."
maeve immediately stepped back, "but im not falling for another broken promise."
she threw her hand towards maeves temple, her mini gun in hand as it smacked her. blood started to drip down the side of her forehead as she let the darkness overtake her conscious.
the familiar feeling of everything taking over, overwhelmed her. "i wish i could say im sorry." jinx smirked before maeves eyes finally shut, nothing behind those eyes as she layed hopelessly on the cold concrete.
