───── THE UNMISTAKABLE THUDS of the golf club colliding with the mans skull was deafening. her eyes were fixated on the blood that dripped from her nails beds as she picked and picked.
she still had no idea what was going on, and the guilt bulldozed through the walls she built up throughout the years. breaking them down one by one, a tear slipping down her cheek as she knew she was helpless.
she had never felt like such a coward whenever her gaze reached the helpless man on the cold, concrete floor, the blood splattering across the floor just infront of her as a man, innocent or not, was beaten within an inch of his life, tortured by someone she once considered a friend.
the grunts and groans stopped falling from the man, falling to weak to let out any further movement or sound. before danielle could move to do anything, a commotion rung out from beside her.
danielle lifted her head and immediately stood up, her gaze falling upon the people she used to call her friends, engage in combat with an unknown girl. voices shout loudly, fists collided with faces, but within seconds, the girl was pinned to the ground.
jordan bent over, his hand gripping his cheek as blood pooled his palm. anger washed over him once again, his boot now slamming into the girls neck.
danielle immediately raised off the couch, "you fuckin' got her! lay off!" danielle pushed him, manny grabbing ahold of him and pulling him away.
the girl exclaimed out with angered and disgusted screams, "you're gonna fucking die!" she exclaimed. each syllable spat with venom.
danielle's chest felt heavy, her breaths became panicked as she walked over to a cabinet, leaning herself on it as she held her chest with all her might.
"fuck." she muttered under her breath. running her hand over her face as she immediately turned and faced what was happening in the room.
abby continued slamming the metal club into the mans head, torturing him over and over. like it was revenge for her, like she was avenging someone.
"haven't you done enough? i reckon he's learnt his lesson!" danielle stepped forward again, pushing past a couple people to be met with abbys eyes.
but instead of an answer, abby just shoved danielle away. her boots stumbling against the concrete floor with loud thuds.
danielles eyes flickered with hurt, but soon flashed over with hatred. like a switch flicked in her head, realisation washing over her body as she turned towards the unknown girl.
danielle wasn't here because she was loved, or because she was part of the group. she was here because they needed someone clueless enough to do whatever they wanted. they needed another set of hands with the same skills abby carries.
everything seemed to make sense, and in that moment, she knew that she didn't care about the consequences, but she did care about saving these peoples lives, and sparing them of the image that'll haunt them for the rest of their lives.
danielle watched the girl. she wasn't in reality, she didn't truly seem to be in the moment everyone else seemed to have been dreaming of for years.
heat radiated off of the girls body as rage bubbled inside of her. danielle felt sorrow for the girl, now crouching down and landing her forearms on her knees, "don't let this be the last memory of him you have. it's not what you need to see."
tears flooded down the girls cheeks, as she squeezed her eyes shut tightly, gasping for breath between each tear. danielle looked over her shoulder, now listening in on the more amounts of commotion.
"we gotta get outta here. before the whole towns on top of us." owen announced, fear running through his voice as he walked his way towards abby, who stood tall over joel, the golf club gripped firmly in her hand.
"you're done." the blonde girl glared at her ex-boyfriend, she scrunched her nose with anger, now stepping forward with determination. "you want what i want right?"
the two stared eachother down for a moment, before owen took ahold of the situation, putting his foot down. "you're done."
"joel, fucking get up!" the girl begged. but deep down, everyone knew he wasn't going to get up. whether or not abby let him live, he was far to gone to even lift a finger all the way. but that didn't stop the begs to fall from her lips. "please, please don't do this."
but with one final swing, the cries were louder then ever before. "no!" the clang of the golf club colliding with the mans head haunted the room.
danielle squeezed her eyes shut, the sound of manny slurring on the mans body caused anger to rise inside of danielle.
"what the fuck is wrong with you." she stood up, leaving ellie to see the man, laying on the floor lifelessly. danielle pushed manny with force, his body slamming into a cabinet.
manny didn't reciprocate anything tho. instead he shook his head, "lets go." he nodded.
nora walked over to danielles side, landing her hand on her shoulder. "get out, lets go." her voice was filled with fear and worry.
"don't you fucking touch me!" the hazel eyed girl shoved noras hand off of her body, tears swelled her eyes as she stepped back.
"honestly, you're all a bunch of fucking animals" she shook her head, her gaze ran over everyones in the room. all of them looked, relieved almost.
jordan spoke up, "your one of us. that makes you no different then us." his voice was bitter, but something inside of it showed joy in taunting the youngest girl.
"i'm nothing like any of you." the girl scowled. her eyesbrows laced together as she looked at everyone with pure disgust. she couldn't be like any of them. it was impossible, she'd never go that far.
the silent sobs of the girl echoed the girls head as she turned towards abby. "how could you?" she practically whispered, betrayal coursing through her body.
the girl she looked up to, was someone she didn't even recognise anymore. she was a blurry face now. abby never replied, instead, she let go of the club with force, now rushing out with the rest of them.
"ill fucking kill you!" the last scream heard from the unknown girl, her body shaking with the blood shed anger that now bubbled through her.
jordan walked over to the auburn haired girl, his foot striking the side of her face, knocking her into a state of unconsciousness.
danielle turned and rolled her eyes, "will you back the fuck off, jordan! christ!"
"we need to go! now!" owen announced once again, his arms gesturing to move out the door.
"i'm not going anywhere with you." danielle crossed her arms over her chest. "come on." leah walked over, practically shoving the younger girl with her.
"get your fucking hands off of me." she shoved the muscular girl away. knowing it was wrong, but she refused to go anywhere with the monsters she once called family.
"get your fucking shit and go, danielle. or i swear to god ill shoot you right next to your new little buddies." jordan raised his gun high.
danielle knew he wouldn't bluff. he would do it with no remorse, and the girl finally realised that after the events of today. but she wasn't gonna turn into one of them.
"go to hell." jordan raised his gun and slammed it down on the side of her head. blood started to drool down her cheek as she stumbled back, nearly tripping over the broken girl on the floor.
he then raised his fist and punched the girls other cheek with force, watching her fall to the ground. her knees smacking against the concrete, then falling flat onto her stomach.
"pathetic." he spat, turning around and now following behind the others. the girl groaned in pain as she now tried turning onto her back.
mel immediately rushed over, her medic side taking over her body as she knelt down beside her, her hands landing on the cold skin of the girl.
"mel! leave her. shes useless to us now." leah rushed over and grabbed ahold of mel, pulling her away. danielle watched each and every single one of them leave, causing her to be completely alone. again.
tears dripped down her face as she used her hands to sit herself up with all and any strength she had left. her back leant on the cabinet tommy was once leaning on.
her gaze rose over tommy and the girl with sorrow. then, she looked at the lifeless man. the blood had now stopped pooling around him, his body was completely limp.
danielle had never felt so guilty in her life. she was a coward, she could've stepped in and stopped in, she could've fought them off, she could've done something.
but she didn't.
and now its forever gonna haunt the girl. the screams he cried, the wacks of the golf club against his skull, the tears that fell down the other girls face flooded her mind.
"ellie..." danielle turned to tommy, his voice groggy and faint as he tried to reach out for the unconscious girl. "i'm so sorry." she simply said, her hand landing in tommys palm with as much comfort as she could possibly give.
the slight wheezing from tommy was all that filled the room. her head was pounding, her sight foggy as she miserably grasped at the fraying rope of consciousness.
but no matter how much she fought, her eyes shut. the sorrow and guilt running over her body, her mind wishing it wouldn't wake back up after today.
the faint sounds of footsteps echoed in her mind. she had no idea how long it had been since the WLF group walked away from the scene, but due to the blacked out moment she just experienced, it must have been awhile.
"jessie, they're down here!" danielle opened her eyes and saw the black haired girl stand up and run from ellie, rushing to get someone, to get help.
danielle found herself too weak to do anything. as if when the group left, they took her strength with her. the only thing she's had since she was 5, ripped away.
