danielle windsor learned how to do 2 things during the 11 years she spent alone. survive and fight.

resilience ran throughout her body as if it was her own blood, love lacked like it was protein and survival was needed as if it was oxygen. she was alot of things, but weak was not one of them.

when the cordyceps fungal infection took over the world over 2 decades ago, everyone had only themselves. the most known words would be 'kill or be killed', and for as long as danielle could remember, thats what she had gone off of, it brought her comfort knowing she wasn't easy to take down, especially as a kid with no backup.

being born into a world where there was barely any humanity left, with no parents to guide you and no support behind your back. you sort of learn how to do a thing or two. danielle wandered the city, collecting guns and weapons, the blood of her enemies swiped on her cheek as she got rid of them one by one, trying to find her purpose in this cold, lifeless world that was ever so lonely.

when she stumbled across the WLF, she thought she had found her home, her light, her people. she finally felt like she belonged, like she wasn't alone. but in reality, she was their puppet, and even after protesting and arguing about how she felt, she was put back on the strings each and every time.

over the years, she had lost everything she worked for, she lost herself, her happiness and her light, due to the people she had called home.

when she turned nineteen, everything turned for the worst when she came across a girl, a girl who was stubborn, vicious, angry, she came across her during an incident that she would have never wished upon anyone. an incident that snapped danielle how of the puppet trance, protecting the unknown enemy.

but during it all, she felt something she had never experienced over her life, it felt like lust but it was more sympathetic. and it truly confused her.

as if someone was looking down at her, she was tasked to travel across the states, hunting down a firefly base and her former army. the idea of getting away from her dreadful like came like butterflies on a sunny day, the girl was overjoyed. but oh boy, would she regret that.

during it all, the darkness that had surrounded her in her past, inevitably toughened her up. danielle learnt, when a light shows up, you protect it like you protect no other. even if it means putting yourself in danger, even if it mean lying.

despite her trust issues and her stubbornness, danielle knows how far she'd go to protect the light she loves, and how much she's willing to lose of herself over and over again to make sure of it.
