03. The Bromance is Real
Sky
"QUIT perving on the first years!" For the love of-, why must he be an eternal cockblocker. Genuinely, why. I'm finally moving on from Stella and this is the support I get
"Riv, could you just give me a sec"
"Why? You going to chase her?" I whip around to see Octavia striding away from us.
"Nope." I lurched back as Riv dropped his bag and tackled me into a hug. I slapped his back, gripping tightly to the leather jacket. Helios, I missed his ugly face. Silva gets hard to deal with when you're both trapped together for weeks on end.
"How are you man?" Riven questioned. Eyes shining as he grinned at me.
"Eh, about ready to fall on my own sword if I have to listen to another Silva lecture." Riv bursts out laughing.
"Oh, woe is you. How's the old dog doing anyway" Riv bent down to pick up his bag as we made our way to the specialist Hall.
"Eager to break in the first years. You know how he gets with newbies. " I chuckled slightly remembering our first day here. Silva certainly did not go easy on me because of our history.
"Ugh, don't remind me. I think I still have the bruises." Riv dramatically looked up to the sky looking for all intents and purposes like an actor on stage... probably for something as ridiculous as the minotaur and midas. I fought the urge to laugh as I looked at Riv who appeared to be ranting about some girl he met over the summer.
"... and then Olivia was all like 'how could you do-" I glanced up at the fairy hall inexplicably hoping to catch a glimpse of a certain fairy. At least I think she's a fairy, she never did reply.
"...girl, I told you from the start. This is just casual' and man, let me tell you Miranda did not like that." I look at Riven since he finally stopped talking about the endless parades of girls as we reached the Specialist hall. We get in the line at the doors, I really hope we get a decent dorm this year. I don't think I can bear sharing with 4 other people this year.
"You and Stella spoken at all?" Riv asks quietly so the others around us can't hear. I tense beside him, not ready to have this conversation so early into the day.
"Nope. She broke up with me, remember. Besides, I'm over it." I shift slightly as we get closer to the front desk.
"Oh yeah. With that dark haired chick? Or maybe the redhead that was eyeing you up, eh?" Riv knocked into my side jokingly as we reached the front Desk. It looked like something out of a grand hotel. One of those old fashioned ones from the first world Victorian movies - Silva had taken me to the cinema as a birthday gift once. Something about experiencing new cultures.
"Ah. Sky, Riven. Good to see you boys again" Tomen, one of the specialist leaders. He grinned up at us causing the scar down the side of his face to shift and crinkle against the otherwise perfectly smooth, dark skin. Silva said they used to joke about him being a fairy model. I can see why. Though he seems more confident in himself now those jokes are gone thanks to the scar. It's ridiculous how far something has to go before people back off.
"You boys are in the East-wing, second floor - with the rest of the second years". Let me just grab your room keys." He twirls around in the desk chair, reaching behind him to the row of pigeon holes filled with letters, keys and parcels.
"Here you are lads, room 205. Just the two of you and a spare room." He hands us two keys on rings. "Don't lose the keys" he demands
"Okay, okay. Chill Tomen. We won't lose them" Riven says condescendingly "Why are we getting a spare room anyways. Silva finally decide to save prince charming from the riff-raff" He grins cheekily at me.
Why must he be so.... Him
I feel my brows furrow in annoyance as I open my mouth to defend Silva.
"Don't go shitting on your good fortune Riven." Tomen says sternly, the light gone from his eyes. "Just take the win and move on."
I shifted uneasily. I don't think Tomen was talking about the room.
"Alright then mate" Riv says as he moves to the east wing "You coming Sky?" He calls over his shoulder but I don't move. I stay staring at Tomen who suddenly won't look at me. Giving up, I turn to Riv and walk over.
"Let me catch up would ya."
Our Dorm is small but filled with light. There's overhead window letting in sunlight and the bedrooms all have a large window.
A/N: I can't be bothered explaining it so I drew the dorm layout
I laughed at him and jumped onto the sofa , leaning back against the cushion. Yes, this is going to be very nice. No more first years causing us drama.
"Finally!" Riv exclaims. "We have a kitchen. Yes, oh thank Helios."
I raise my head to look at my room mate who appears to be caressing the work top surface.
"What are you doing?" I question in amusement.
"We can finally have decent food!" Riv grins at me like a kid in a sweet shop.
I roll my eyes. "And which one of us can actually cook Riv? You scared off out last roomate who had any cooking skills."
I rise of the sofa and drag my bad towards one of the rooms.
"Hey! I can cook!"
"Sure you can, buddy. Sure you can."
