ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ 12: 호의(ʜᴏᴜɪ)- ꜰᴀᴠᴏʀ

Jungkook

I was lying on my stomach in bed, exhausted from working restlessly sitting before the computer screen. Working at home sucks.

I'd have to get everything e-mailed, check them out for any faults, and then write emails again to give new instructions to the employers. It was double work and took much more time. That's why I hate working at home.

As exhausted as I was, the phone call just now made me even more irritated. It was Mr. Shin. I had to receive it.

"Hello, Mr. Shin." I forced myself not to sound irritated or unpleased.

"Yes, Jungkook. I have a piece of good news for you."

"That's my pleasure. What is it?" I tried to sound delighted which was the last thing I felt.

"Sung Rin will visit you in a while. It's been a while since she left home." He sounded happy through the phone call. "I'd told her about our meeting the other day. And she was so happy to hear that she's gonna get married to you. She really thinks highly of a hard-working person like you. So, I offered her to visit you since you two don't even know each other well."

As much as he sounded happy, I was irritated with it. Hell, I didn't even agree to marry his daughter and now I got to know that she is gonna visit in a while. Most importantly without any notice. It is just too fucked up.

"Yes," I replied showing all the irrigation through my voice.

"Ahh.. I hope you won't mind me not telling you beforehand. I was going to, but I forgot. You know, fault of age." He chuckled guiltily.

If I could, I'd just slam that foul head of his on the ground and make sure to let his Seribrams taste the soil. But I needed him. So, I held it all in and replied with a smile, "It's no problem. I can understand. But, if I am not wrong, I did never agree with your proposal."

"Don't worry about it. You can still tell me your decision after meeting her. It's not a big deal. I'm pretty sure that you won't hesitate to say yes right after you meet her." He sounded proud.

"I hope so." I forced myself to utter those words cause I definitely was not interested in marrying a complete stranger as a business deal just because she was pretty.

"I'll hang up then. Let's meet anytime soon."

I sighed as he finally hang up. Listening to his voice alone was making me sick and believe me it was fucking difficult to hold myself back from ruining his head.

I closed my eyes taking some deep breaths and calming myself down. That's when I heard the doorbell ring.

Fuck.

She was already here and I was not even ready. I needed some more time to calm down before facing her.

So, I didn't move and stayed in the same position for a couple of minutes before I was finally calm enough but not fully calm to face someone.

Nonetheless, I dragged my body out of the bed and walked down.

Yian was standing at the door frame facing her back to me and someone was out. I couldn't see her but I was certain that it was Shin Sung Rin.

"Who is it?" I spoke sternly, dragging their attention to me while walking down the stairs.

Yian looked back at my voice and our eyes met. Believe me, she was looking fucking hot!
She was wearing my white shirt that reached her knees. And if I am, to tell the truth, holding myself back from ripping that piece of cloth out of her body was the hardest. I moved my glance from her immediately cause I knew, I would be in danger if I didn't.

"Is it you, Shin Sung Rin?" I uttered as I finally walked down the stairs and to the front door.

"Hello. Yes, it's me," she politely smiled at me and shoved Yian off the door to get in even though there was enough space for her to enter.

I gritted my teeth as I was somewhy... annoyed at her behavior but I couldn't say anything. It was not the best time. I still need her and making a fuss about something so trivial was not my thing.

I led her to the living room without looking twice at Yian.

"Please sit down," I motioned her to sit with my hand and sat across her turning off the TV that was airing some ridiculous drama. Who the hell watches dramas these days?!

I assumed it was Yian since she was the only one here before me, no- before us. Maybe she was bored or something, I guess. Whatever, not my business.

Sung Rin moved forward and placed the flower before me, "I wanted to bring something for you. But I didn't know what you like, so I just bought them."

Gross. I hate red roses. On top of that, what was she thinking? I'm not a girl or something who'd be head over the hills for some silly roses.

Anyway, I'd just give them away to noona. I think she'd like them better.

"Thank you." I thanked her though I was not thankful at all.

"Anytime." She shortly replied.

Upon looking, I realized Mr. Shin was not so wrong about being that much proud of his daughter. She was really sexy. Like grabbing anyone's attention type. She was wearing a black dress that ended a few inches over her knees. Her skin could be seen from the sides under her arms where the ripped fabric was connected with a thin lace.

I cleared my throat, "Do you want anything to drink?"

"Umm... Coffee with milk and sugar, please." she was smiling with every word.

Not my type at all. I like tough girls, who stand up for themselves no matter what. Clingy and cute stuffs are not my thing. Also, I hate coffee with milk and sugar. Too much calories. Plain black coffee is the best option for me.

"Be right back." I headed towards the kitchen.

I set the coffee maker and then opened the fridge for some snacks. Noona made a blueberry moist cake yesterday and we haven't even touched it yet. I took that out and sliced a piece out of it and put it on a plate.

I poured the coffee in two cups, mixed milk and sugar in one and set everything on a tray before heading back to the living room. I put the coffee and cake before her, "Please help yourself."

"Thank you. I'll enjoy it." she smiled widely revealing a cute dimple on her left cheek.

"So, your father called me a few minutes ago and told me that you wanted to meet me," I uttered, starting a conversation.

"Yes." She sipped on the coffee.

"So, what do you think about marrying me?" I got straight to the point.

She didn't reply this time but I was observant enough to notice the blush on her face. And that made it certain that she was happy with it that I didn't like at all.

"Are you sure that you are okay with marrying some stranger just for a business deal?" I specifically insisted on the word "business deal".

She seemed unpleased with my comment as the smile on her face vanished away. She put down the cup on the table, fidgeting her hand as she seemed nervous, and hesitantly replied, "Umm... we can get to know each other now and we'll get plenty of time after marriage too."

"What if I turn out to be an arrogant bastard and a pervert? What would you do then? Your whole life can ruin because of this one decision." I raised an eyebrow at her who was taking her first bite of the blueberry-flavoured cake.

She giggled, "You saying this proves that you're not gonna be some arrogant bastard or a pervert. Everyone knows that you're a gentleman."

"Then what if I've secretly murdered someone, or I am connected with some mafia gang? Will you still feel the same?" I looked directly into her eyes being serious.

She didn't reply straightly. "It depends." That's all she said. But that's not what bothered me.

What bothered me was, she looked away, she wasn't looking into my eyes while she replying. "Guess it doesn't matter as long as you are not gonna murder me. And Mr. CEO, for you to know, I'm totally obsessed with mafia romance."

I didn't say anything. I was silent, completely silent.

I then chuckled at her, "I know what you mean. But, it doesn't work like that."

"And if I am to be honest, I don't think it's you. It is not you who is meant for me. I admit that you are really beautiful but I really don't feel anything even after meeting you like this. And I have many doubts that it'd ever change." I was honest with my words.

She was shocked and disappointed at my honesty and serious tone. But still managed to insist further, "If you agree with the fact that we get married, then that means you are still confused. Can you really see the light inside me?"

"Yes," she answered drily and cleared her throat to continue further, "I can see the light right through you."

"Are you sure you are not confusing me for someone else? Cause I can't see yours. Which means you are not my soulmate."

"No, Jungkook. I am sure. I can see it so clearly. How can it be wrong?! It doesn't make sense at all if you really can't see mine. That, That's-"

"impossible," I finished her sentence. "I know what you are talking about."

"But nothing is making any sense for me nowadays." My inner voice screamed as I recalled my meeting with Psyche two days ago.

"What? Are you sure? That's impossible." I was flabbergasted at the bomb he just threw at me.

"Yes, I know it is impossible but I am sure. There is no record of a pilot in her late 20s named Lee Yi-Ahn. Since the name or the profession can be fake, I double-checked and even tried with her DNA but it was all in vain. As if the sky tore apart and dropped her in your arms." I didn't miss his eye roll during the last sentence.

"Shut up," I grunted.

"Well, don't shut me up yet, I still have so many things to say. It's about her appearance."  I faint smirk appeared on his face as if he was thinking 'The game is about to begin now'.

"what now?!"

"Patience Mr. Jakah, Patience. It's about her face. Since I couldn't find anything about her identity, I tried with her photo that you sent me and I've learned something really interesting." He finished his speech with some suspense leaving me to be even more impatient.

"There was someone that looked exactly the same as her. Their faces match perfectly 100%."

"What do you mean by 'was' in a past tense?" I grew curious about it the more I heard.

"Her name was Chou Tzu-yu and she was an Idol of the K-pop band called 'Twice'. And She passed out 7 years ago. And the reason for her death is still unknown. Even her body wasn't found. As if she just vanished just like this Y-Ahn girl appeared from nowhere."

"Maybe you don't know. But I am certain that it would change with time. Cause I have those feelings for you. I can really feel it. So, you'll feel it too sooner or later. It's impossible for you not to be able to see." Sung Rin's voice drew me back to reality from tons of my thoughts.

I stayed silent for a while.

"Shin Sung Rin," my voice was calm as ever when I talked. "I know me better than anyone. When I said it won't change, it won't. I wasn't gonna say this cause I didn't want to hurt you. But I think I can't help it."

She was terrified, "What is it?"

"Excuse me for a moment. I left my phone in my room." I stated, getting up to leave.

"W-wait. Please tell me what it is first." She stopped me as she begged for an explanation.

"I think, there's someone else." It was the last sentence that left my mouth before I headed upstairs leaving her messed up with thoughts. I saw fear in her voice, fear of losing something dear. But, I was not kind enough to sympathize her.

Actually, I lied. I had my phone with me. I had other plans going on in my mind. So I made up an excuse.

I knocked on my room's door and went in. I looked around and found her standing before the window.

"Lee Yian," I called her name but she didn't budge an inch.

"What are you doing there?" I approached her but she was lost somewhere else.

"Hey!" I pulled her by hand to face me and she was snapped back to reality with my touch. She looked pale and devastated. "Are you feeling sick?"

"Huh?!" she pulled back. "What are you doing here? Why didn't you knock? Don't you have any manners?! Who walks into a woman's room without knocking?!" she was raging at me so suddenly and for the first time. I was so surprised that I forgot to talk for a while. She kinda looked cute and sassy.

"Well, well, you're mistaken." I defended myself.

"What mistaken? Then what are you doing here now?" she literally raised her voice at me which made me even more impressed at her than I already was.

"I knocked, but someone was so out of it to notice." I shrugged. I have no idea why I bothered explaining but I actually did.

It seemed to hit her finally as her expression changed completely. She looked down and sighed. Then in a mild tone uttered, "Sorry about that."

She apologized immediately. And I was now confirmed that I definitely hated the word 'sorry'. Not because I hate mistakes but because I was gonna use her with it which definitely wasn't my style.

"Well, if you are really sorry, then do me a favor," I smirked,

"You'd have to act to be my girlfriend for a while."
