Some minutes later, Emy and Mary were already standing standin outside of Jason’s house. Emy rang the doorbell, and a lady who appears to be a maid opened the door.

“Good evening Miss.Garrick,” The maid acknowledged Emy.

“Good evening Mercy.” Emy replied. “We’re here to see Jason,” Emy said pointing at the direction she thought Mary was standing only to look back to see her removing her purse from the car.

“Master Jason is at the pool. I’ll take you girls to him.” She opened the front door wide for both girls to go in.

“Thank you Mercy,” Emy said as she walked into the house with Mary hurrying to catch up.

Mercy led both girls to the pool behind the house. “Master Jason, Emy and Mary are here!” Mercy announced.

“Let them in.” Jason instructed.

“Baby!” Mary screamed running towards Andrew and jumping on him. They kissed each other passionately, making everyone around jealous.

“Ok, cut it out you two.” Jason said offering both girls a place to sit.

Emy caught Gabriel staring at her and immediately he realized that he had been caught, he looked away. He stood up and walked over to where he hung his shirt.

Emy had a swift glance at his bare body and understood why girls always wanted to be around him. “Of course, he had to choose a ravishing body.” She muttered "Even time has failed to change his taste."

Gab put on his shirt and they all came together to plan how the program should look like. Each of them brought unique ideas. And finally they were able to draw out a conclusion.

“I guess we should get a good DJ, a standup comedian and also a slot for presentation.” Emy suggested,

“We can also give the 2019 Cleavon High school award,” Mary added.

“Yeah and that too, guys what do you think?” Emy concurred.

“Awesome.” Jason said, writing the suggestions down on a piece of paper. “I’ll give this to my dad tonight.” He  showed the piece of paper to them, and he got an approving nod from each of them. “And for the award,” He went on  “I’ll inform my dad but we all have to inform the principal too.” Jason added as he stood to stretch his back.

Principal Adams is as hard as they come, very strict but always in support of social activities. And the five of them knew that it won’t be too difficult convincing him to comply.

“And if Principal Adams agrees, we will have to write out the list of awards we intend to give, paste it in front of the school, classrooms, notice boards and teacher’s office. So the whole school can vote.” Emy said smiling at Mary.

“With the principal permission, we can make a stand on the school’s field, and place different boxes on the table, each representing each award so before the party we’ll invite the teachers to sum up all the names in each box and then select the name with the highest vote and bam, we have our winners!” Gabriel exclaimed hitting his palm hard on his thigh. He was indeed interested in this whole thing.

“Very good Gabriel.” Andrew remarked, causing a child-like smile on Gabriel's face.

“Well done everyone.” Jason commented " I guess we’ll have to call it a day. We all did well. By Monday we should be able to finalize everything.”

“Yes, it is dark already; Mary and I have to be on our way home.” Emy said as she picked up her hand bag.

“We’ll be on our way too.” Andrew said getting on his feet and Gabriel too.

“Well I guess I’ll be seeing you guys off then." Joining the standing party, Jason saw them out of his mansion.

Andrew's hands possessed Mary's waist as they stood in front of Emy’s car teasing and complimenting each other. Emy smiled as he gaze fell on the love birds, and not wanting to interrupt, she gently opened the car door and threw  her bag inside.

“Hey Emy!” Gab called out. He waited till she came closer then, he asked “How are you doing?”

“Fine Gabriel, how are you?” She asked back.

“I’m fine too. I came to ask you something and I don’t want you to get offended though.” He said scratching the back of his head.

“What is it Gab?” She asked in anticipation.

“We are friends, right?” He asked rhetorically. “And I want to ask for a favor.”

“Go on and ask already.” Emy said fixing a serious gaze on him.

“Well, em, will you be my date to Jason’s party? I mean as friends.” He quickly added, wearing a pretend smile on his face.

“Why, is your girlfriend unavailable?” Emy asked. Pretending not to be aware of he and April breakup.

“Well, I guess you haven’t heard. April and I are over.” He assured her.

“Oh that, and now you want us to go as friends?” She asked rhetorically.

“Except if you have –”

“OK.” She agreed in disappointment.

“Thank you.” He replied gleefully. They stood quiet for a while Gabriel had finally asked her to be his date. And now,  this awkward silence wasn't helping his case “See you in church tomorrow?” He finally asked, breaking the silence.

“Definitely.” She replied. She was supposed to be happy, but she wasn't. "What does he mean by as a friend?"  Her inner voice screamed. This was not close to  what she was expecting but despite her disappointment,  she managed to force a weak smile on her face.

Gabriel was happy for the reply he got, he kept smiling at Emy uncontrollably. As much as he wanted to keep it up, he needed to distract himself for he thought his stare made her uncomfortable and somehow, it did. “Hey Andrew, say your good bye and let’s go!”

“Yes, yes give me a sec!” Andrew yelled back.

“Gab, if I’m allowed to ask, the sketch you made on that paper in drama class, have you seen it before?” She asked curiously

“I think so. I guess I’ve seen it somewhere.” He replied smiling.

“Do you know what it means?” she asked again.

“No. Emy, don’t worry your pretty head about it, I’m sure it’s just a random symbol or something.” He said placing his hands on her shoulders.

“You are wrong Gab; it’s not just a random symbol, you are not letting yourself remember. On Monday, meet me in the library after school. I have to show you something.” She said, “Goodnight Gab, see you tomorrow.” She hugged him lightly and walked down to her Car.

“Baby, I’ll have to go.” Andrew told Mary and then, kissed her. Finally letting her go, he ran to catch with Gabriel then he yelled “I’ll call you!"

“Stop running like a Grandpa!” Gabriel shouted as they burst into laughter.

Mary was now inside the car and Emy couldn't wait to tell Mary about what Gabriel asked “Mary, you won’t believe it.” She started, irritably.

“What is it?” Mary asked interested, especially after seeing the look on her face.

“Gab asked me to Jason’s party, to go a--”

“I knew it; it was just a matter of time before he’ll ask you.” Mary said merrily, interrupting Emy.

“As a friend! Mary” Emy yelled out of frustration, as if expecting something better. “He asked me to go with him as a friend." She repeated, calming herself down.

“Oh, not good and what did you tell him?” Mary asked.

“I agreed,” Emy said.

“You agreed?” Mary asked astonished, “Why? Are you nuts?”

“I don’t know Mary,” Emy replied calmly. “It is bad going with him as friends but it will be worse if I don’t go at all, he chose the perfect body, and I want him even more now. I’m confused, Mary,” Emy said feeling very sad.

“Don’t be sad about it, ok you know what let me drive?” Mary suggested.

“Ok” Emy agreed. Mary got down from her side of the car and walled over to the driver's side. Emy got down too, giving room for Mary to hop in while she went over to the passenger side and got into the car.
