I stood across from Leon on the pitch, a small crowd and Chairman Rose gathered around us to witness the battle. Leon was kind enough to pick three Pokémon to verse my three. I lick my lip nervously as all three Pokémon stand behind me ready for the call of battle. I've never been much of a battler but that isn't to say I don't have my fair share of tricks up my sleeve.

Leon grins with his hands on his hips, I see what Nessa said about a ten year old boy stuck in a grown man's body. "Let's have a champion time Miss (y/n) and I look forward to working with you!" Leon calls. A Champion time? Cute. "As do I champion Leon, from one performer to another, break a leg." I laugh. Leon tightens down his hat before holding up his pokéball ready for the throw.

"Let's show her what we got, Let's go Mr. Rime." Leon calls, I'm surprised when I see the Pokémon. The Regional difference is clear as day, and dare I say more fitting to the name than your typical Mr. Rime. "Alright Zarude, shall we open with a bang?" I smile. Zarude lets out a thundering rawer that causes the people around us to gasp as he runs out onto the field.

"Each challenger has three Pokémon to use, when one challenger's Pokémon are unable to battle the match will be over. Champion Leon, are you ready?" Chairman Rose asked, "Ready Chairman!" Leon grins. "And Miss (y/n)?" He calls, "Certainly Chairman Rose." I smile. "Let the match begin!" He shouts the cue.

"Zarude use scary face!" I call, "Mr. Rime, dodge and use sword dance!" Leon calls in retaliation. I smirk as Zarude is already across the field unleashing his attack, I watch Leon's face fall in shock as Zarude's speed. "Apologies Champion Leon, Zarude's are notorious for their speed and aggression." I call as Mr.Rime becomes frozen in fear. "Now! Zarude clear him with Hammer Arm!" I call out, "Mr.Rime snap out it and dodge!" Leon calls out desperately but it's too late. Zarude lashes out three swings of his Hammer Arm before Mr.Rime falls unconscious.

Leon stood there in shock as Zarude stood up on his legs and pounds his chest while letting out a victorious rawer. "It's okay buddy, they took us by surprise." Leon soothes his Pokémon as he calls him back, "But no more freebies." He shouts over to me. "Let's show them what we're really made of Aegislash!" Leon calls upon his next Pokémon.

I swallow hard at the sight of the steel type, "Zarude come back! Let's go Houndoom!" I command. Zarude quickly exits the field as Houndoom trots out, I smirk as Houndoom lets out a haunting howl upon his entrance. "Aegislash use sacred sword!" Leon commands, "Houndoom dodge and fire fang!" I fire off in return. I watch Houndoom dodge and land a hit, however it does little to nothing.

"Sacred Sword again!" Leon calls, "Dodge!" I shout. Houndoom doesn't make it in time and gets blown across the field. "Aegislash use sword dance and let's finish this off with sacred sword." Leon calls. I let out a curse as I watch the steel Pokémon power up, I looked over to Houndoom who's only now getting back on his feet. "Houndoom return! Ninetails let's go!" I call quickly. Leon stands there in shock as I use up the only trade out I can use in battle.

The two Pokémon quickly trade places, "Ninetails! Disable then extrasensory!" I command. I hold my breath as Aegislash gets ready to use Sacred Sword, in the few seconds it's still powering up Ninetails hits him with disable. I release the breath I was holding when Ninetails hits the Pokémon with extrasensory. The steel Pokémon goes flying back and I see panic build on Leon's face, little does he know I'm panicking too. I'm pulling out all my best tricks for this battle and I'm already almost out before I've even faced his Charizard.

"Alright Ninetails, use quick attack!" I command, "Aegislash use king's shield then shadow sneak!" Leon calls. My mouth falls open at the combo, I had no idea the Pokémon could use dark type moves. I cringe as Ninetails is blocked then hit with the move, I don't know how to counter this! The only move that can cause damage is quick attack and that's easily blocked, all my other moves aren't very effective. "Let's do it again! Use Shadow Sneak." Leon calls, "No!" I shout as Ninetails takes another powerful hit.

My head spins as Ninetails gets back up, "Quick Attack! Let's go!" I rush out. "Aegislash, King's shield and Shadow sneak combo!" Leon grins, I curse when Ninetails falls prey to the deadly combo. I watch as Ninetails struggles to get up this time, "Let's finish this off! Can you use Sacred Sword?" He questions, I watch in shock as the Pokémon powers up the move. "Alright! Use Sacred Sword!" Leon cheers, My eyes go wide in fear, overkill! Overkill!

"No! We submit! Stop!" I scream running onto the field, I slide across the ground barely registering the rip I hear from my dress. I toss myself over the fox Pokémon preparing for the worst but it never comes. I breathe heavily scared out of my mind of impending doom but I slowly raise my head as hurried footsteps crunch against the ground. "Hey are you okay?" Leon's voice question, I look down at my Ninetails who breathes just as heavy as I am if not harder.

"I'm sorry, I guess that was kind of harsh." Leon mumbles with a guilty expression when he notices the state of my Ninetails. I swallow hard and nod mutely, adrenaline running thick in my veins. Leon holds a hand out to help me up, I take it and he gently helps me to my feet.

I brush the dirt off my dress when the deep rumble of Leon's throat caught my attention, I look over to him as he tilts his head to the sky but I can see his red cheek. "Your dress." He mumbles pointing to my outfit meekly, I look down to see a tear running up my thigh. "How unfortunate." I grumble, "So shall we?" I question. "You want to keep going?" Leon questions, "I did promise you a battle Champion Leon." I sigh, crossing my arms. "Right well, let's get to it." He grins, "I'll be more careful this time." He promises before running back over to his end.

I roll my eyes and make my back to my own end, Zarude and Houndoom press up against me in worry but I simply send them a smile. "It's alright my dears." I whisper softly, "Now you rest up." I call over to Ninetails, the Pokémon lets out a small sound before laying down. I smile as Houndoom curls up against her for comfort, "I guess that means you're up." I laugh to Zarude. The Pokémon lets out a rawer and pounds on his chest before taking to the field.

"Be careful he's fast!" Leon calls to his Pokémon, I felt a spark of spite in my chest. "Too late! Zarude use Hammer Arm!" I call, and just like that Zarude is across the field and swinging his arm down on the steel Pokémon, "Don't let up!" I call out. "Aegislash use King's shield!" Leon cries out, "Don't let him Zarude!" I warn. I grin wickedly as Zarude lands an especially hard swing down on the Pokémon cracking the forming shield. Dust shoots up from the clash of powers, but as it clears I'm shocked to see the Pokémon has fainted.

Leon looks over to me and I look back, "That Zarude of yours really is something special. Maybe I'll have to catch one." Leon chuckles. "I wouldn't recommend, Zarudes are territorial and would rather die than leave home. My Zarude was a special case." I smile apologetically. Leon nods his head as he sends back his Pokémon before reaching for his last Pokémon, I felt a chill run down my spine at the pokéball. Knowing full and well that was his signature Charizard.

"Let's give them a champion time Charizard!" Leon calls, My mouth falls open at the fire type beast. Strength oozing from him in waves, I only have one card left and I'm not sure if it'll do me any favors. "Zarude quick! Use Jungle Healing!" I call, Leon's eyes widen in amazement as glowing vines shot out from Zarude's back and wrapped around the two Pokémon behind us. Ninetails, who was previously struggling to stand now jumps and spins around in full health as Houndoom follows in turn.

"Neat trick." Leon laughs, "Yeah well it's that last one I got, I'm pretty much doomed after this. Literally." I grin. Leon lets out a laugh as his Charizard looks at him with a scrutinizing gaze. "Alright Charizard! Fly up and use flamethrower!" Leon calls, Panic takes me by the throat. "Zarude dodge!" I shout, I watch in fear as my poor Pokémon tries to evade the attack. And he does, if only for a short while, until Charizard manages to hit Zarude across the back.

I recoil as Zarude howls in pain, the hit leaves scorch marks across Zarude's back and unmoving from the ground. I hold out my pokéball and call him back in defeat, "Good job Za, You performed wondrously." I whisper to the ball before putting him into my bag. "Okay Ninetails lets go," I order, the Fox Pokémon jumps into action watching Charizard with a steely glare.

"Ninetails use Disable!" I order, "Dodge and use Iron Claws," Leon Retaliates. I cringe when the move fails and Ninetails receive the attack head on. "Alright, Charizard, take it easy on her but let's finish her off." Leon commands, "Use Iron Claws again," He calls. "Ninetails Dodge!" I cry desperately, however the move effectively knocks Ninetails out. I bite my lips and let out a sigh as I call Ninetails back to her ball. "Marvelously done my dear." I smile down at the Pokéball, I put her away with Zarude before looking over to Houndoom.

"Well honey, it's just you and me now. Like it always seems to be." I laugh softly, Houndoom presses himself into my leg before taking the field. "Houndoom use Crunch!" I command, "Charizard fly up and use Wing Attack!" Leon calls. "Dodge!" I warn, Houndoom jumps out of the way just in time. "Come on Doom, if we're going out we're going out on a blaze of glory! Lay it on them with Inferno!" I call out.

Houndoom unleashes a tornado of fire at the flying lizard. I smile when he manages to hit in on them, "Alright Houndoom run the field! Don't let them catch you!" I call out. Houndoom follows my command and starts to run across the battleground wildly. "Charizard use Air Slash!" Leon retaliates, "Careful Doom!" I warn. To our credit Houndoom only got hit twice in the downpour of Air Slashes.

"Houndoom, jump up and use Crunch!" I command, Houndoom gets a running start before jumping up and landing a powerful crunch on Charizard. "Shake him off Charizard!" Leon shouts, I cringe as Houndoom is thrown off. Thankfully he lands on his feet but the rough landing took a toll on him. "Come on Doom we got this! Use Inferno!" I order, "Charizard match her with Flamethrower!" Leon grins wildly. I close my eyes as a wave of heat washes over me when the two clash.

I squint my eyes trying to get a visual on the two but I can't until the two clashes of fire cease. When the air cools I see Charizard flying high in the sky with Houndoom wobbling as he too stands. I notice the scorch marks that cover his body and heaving breaths.

No more, I won't allow it. I hold my hands up in surrender. "We give up." I call out. Leon's eyes go wide but sparkle in victory. The crowd I forgot was here rowers seeming bigger than I last realized. I smile softly at Houndoom as he limps his way over to me, I crouch down mindful of the newly added slit in my dress. "Good job my love, thank you for showing me the stars." I whisper, pressing my forehead to his. I hear a voice clear and I look up to see Leon, he holds out a max potion with a smile. I take it appreciatively and treat Houndoom. "Thank you for showing me a Champion time Leon." I smiled up at him.

I giggle when he pulls his hat down to cover his blushing face. I stood to my feet and smooth down my dress and grab my bag. "So," I chime out, Leon uncovers his face to meet me, "I'll see you Monday." I grin flawlessly.
