"I feel like I'm going to puke." I mumble, Nessa rolls her eyes. We both look over the shoes lined along the store walls, "Relax," She snorts. "Your dress is at the cleaners, your crown is bein' polished up, we have ya accessories, and you just got your nails done. All we need now is a killer pair of heels. And we both know that you're infamous for your taste in heels." She laughs.
"Maybe if Leon would fuckingβ" I grunt gripping my pokΓ©dex, "Did that daft idiot get lost again?" She sigh, "Yes." I sneer. I dial the fool's number, it rings once before he picks up. "I knowβ" He starts, "No Leon, I'm giving you five minutes to get back to the stadium by yourself before I come looking for you and I swear to Arceus if I find you you're gonna wish I hadn't." I snip sharply before promptly hanging up. I run a hand through my hair and let out a long sigh. I look over at Nessa who looks between two pairs of heels, "That one." I choose, pointing to the black heels with star shaped jewels decorating it.
Nessa nods in agreement before taking it to check out. As Nessa pulls her card out to pay, a good luck charm for the Gala she excuses, I get a text from the gym manager saying that Leon was found. I breathe out softly and look back at Nessa who takes the name brand bag off the counter and hands it to me. I loop it over my arm as we leave the store, "That man is going to kill me before we even get to the Gala." I grumble, I glare as Nessa laughs.
I take a calming breath, looking myself over in the mirror. It's been so long since I've worn this dress, since I've donned this crown. The dress on my body is priceless. Only one was made, and it was made especially for me. The cut being halter top with a gown skirt, The top leaving my entire back open. The skirt has a triangle slit at the very front, modest when still or shuffling along but alluring should I stretch my legs out to see when I walk. The fabric is an inky black but if you look closely you can see the slight tint difference, a small detail hinting to the dress's hidden feature.
Over it is a thin layer of almost nonexistent mesh laced with jewels creating the illusion of a moonless starry night. On top of it is another layer of thin mesh, only this layer attaches to the very back of the halter top then connects down to the two thin silver bands on my wrists creating a sort of transparent cape, but what makes it so special is the hand embroidered jewels that cluster together to take the shape of stars.
There are chains that attach to each side of the halter strap, four layers of chains shape each shoulder in a sort of cuff, silver stars dangling off the chains on each layer. A matching belt fits the midsection of my dress. Only this one has three layers and gradually gets more loose with each layer, the first layer fitting flat against my stomach and the last layer dangling just above the opening of the slit seam. The shoes Nessa bought complement the dress wonderfully, just like the shooting star dangling earrings Sonia bought me when she found out from Leon that we were going together. According to her they're made from wishing stars.
My makeup for tonight is rather simple, a glowy look with a natural contour of features. However I did line my eyes a bit, a trick I picked up from Piers. My eyes finally land on my crown, the crown is an entire circle of silver and diamonds. Eight points draw up from the base circle and are topped with diamond four point stars, the space between is studded with diamonds of all sizes. The Crown is worth millions alone in materialistic value, even more so given the reputation it holds. My hair frames the crown in a slightly messy up do that leaves curled hairs to frame my face.
The adrenaline comes rushing when the chime of my pokΓ©dex signals Leon's arrival, we agreed to meet up and arrive together. I take three big breaths before gathering my things and locking my apartment shut. My gut twisting six different ways before I finally meet the lobby of my apartment. I bite my tongue and push out the door, where I'm met with the back of my date only to turn around when he hears my heels against the pavement.
I completely lose all sense of breathing when Leon turns and faces me. The suit he wore didn't look much like a suit, but a military uniform of sorts. The suit was black with gold buttons but I could see a white frilled neck piece poking out from under it. It fit him well, however what shocked me most was Leon's cape. It no longer rested over his shoulders but it draped over one before latching over the other, like he had pulled it sideways, not to mention I couldn't see any of his patches that usually cover every inch of his cape. In the small area of his chest that wasn't covered by his cape was rows of medals and ribbons neatly lined over his chest, like he was some decorated war hero. Even with his formal attire he still donned his crown patterned snapback.
"You look absolutely gorgeous." His voice rasps, my eyes snap up to him. Eye molten and swirling, "And you look absolutely show stopping," I smile. My cheeks flaring and heart beating so loud I can hear it in my ears. "Is this real?" He laughs, lifting his signature hat from his head and brushing a hand through his hair, "I hope so," I giggle in return. I take a long step forward, his eyes shooting down to my legs as they slip throughΒ the slit. "I'd hate to wake up," I whisper, stepping close enough to run my hands up his arms, Leon's eyes swirl violently.
"Don't do that." He whispers, "Don't make me want to stay." He grunts, taking my hands in his. I don't get to reply when the flapping wings of the flying taxi makes itself known, the taxi driver lands and looks utterly star struck by our appearances. Leon slips back into his go lucky persona and tells the man our destination. Leon let me inside first, he adjusted my dress before shuffling inside himself. We sat in silence but as soon as the lights of the Rose of the Rondelands hotel came into view Leon's hand grips mine, "Are you ready for it to change?" He whispers, "With you?" I question weakly. Leon brought my hand to his lips, he kissed my knuckles with a soft smile. "Always, I am your sword." He breathes softly, "Then I'm always ready, I am your shield." I spoke hushly.
The flashes of the photographers and reporters greet us first when we land, Leon steps out first and the crowd of people shout for his attention. Only to fall into silence when he turns and holds his hand out, I shuffle to the exit and take his hand. Leon helps me step out of the flying taxi, upon my appearance the crowd of people rawer and shake the barrier put up by officer Jenny and her other officers. "HOLD THE LINE!" She calls, "Please hurry along," She then turns to us. Leon nods and wraps a hand around my waist before ushering me in.
"Arceus, I didn't think it would be that big of a reaction." Leon mumbles, a small laugh slips from my lips. I look forward and see the people around us whisper and glance our way. "Lee?" I question softly, His eyes immediately fall to me, "Ready yourself, because the moment we step into that ball room war will rage." I whisper. Leon straightens his posture, "At your ready your majesty." he replied flawlessly, holding out his arm. I take a deep breath and take his arm.
