"I didn't know, people wanted the Champion to attend their wedding." Leon mumbles as he holds still while I tie an elegant three folded knot with his gold tie. "Have you ever been to a wedding?" he questions as I make the last fold, "Mmhm, a few of them." I smile, securing the knot. "I didn't know the PokΓ© Queen was so popular!" He gasps, I laugh at his amazed expression, "Three of them were my father's, he had four wives." I snort folding down the tabs of his collar. I feel Leon cringe at the mention, "But there were a few I really enjoyed, beautiful in ways weddings should be." I smile softly, brushing my hands over his shoulder to wipe away the imaginary dust.
"Are you sure you're okay being my date? There's going to be some publicity there." He mumbles looking down on me with soft eyes. "The chairman has already made plans for it, he sent emails to all the publicity agencies with my picture and a short explanation of my employment to you." I inform, looking over the black button up and slacks. I pull the satin black vest off my arm and hold it open for him, Leon turns and slips his arms through, I push it up to his shoulders before he turns around. "Would you still have agreed if he didn't?" He questions softly as I button the buttions of the vest, "Of course." I muse looking up at him as I button the last button. Pink dusts over Leon's face as his golden eyes sparkle. I reach up amd straighten his signature snapback before deeming him done.
I turn and look myself over in the bathroom mirror, the dress I wear slightly matching Leon's suit. The snugly fit black sundress is patterned with roses outlined in gold, occasionally one rose will be filled in leaving the black to outline it instead. My eyes move up to my makeup, eyes contoured smoothly with a touch of gold to give it a shine while my lips are tinted with a light red. My ears don simple gold dangle earrings, the long plates of gold only reach an inch with three hanging from each ear. The necklace I wear is gold as well, a chain where roses decorate the front with leaves separating the roses from each other. My hair is simple, curled and down with two braided strands holding it all back.
"I think you look beautiful," Leon mumbles, "Thank you," I giggle. "We should get going, it's rude to be late to a wedding," I smirk, Leon's eyes sparkle but he doesn't say anything. Only following me out of the bathroom, Leon grabs our things as I put my shoes on at the door. Leon gets there before I can slip on my last gold glittering heel, I'm shocked to see him kneel and hold the shoe out for me to slip on. Nevertheless, I place my hand on his shoulder and slip my foot into my shoe. "Thank you Lee." I smile, Leon's cheeks flush.
He stands and his chest is all but touching mine, "You really are beautiful you know." He whispers. I force myself not to lick my lips, I didn't want to ruin my lipstick because Leon is getting cheeky ideas. Come on! Pull yourself together, we can get there on time if you can out play him. I place my hand on his chest, looking up I tilt my head to the side with gentle eyes, Leon tensing up at my expression. "Come on Lee, we can't be late." I call softly, I watch him nod mutely. Face now flushed red, but willing. Leon opens the door for me and I take the first step out of his apartment with a relieved sigh.
A flying taxi stood waiting for us, ever so carefully I step into the metal box of doom, Leon right behind me. The taxi has a rocky start, one that has me gripping Leon's hand in fear of plummeting, however he held mine back just as tight. We manage to make it to Turffeild in one piece, thank the PokΓ©mon god above. The ceremony takes place out in the middle of a golden field at sundown, however the sun is just about to set and Leon and I have to figure out which field it's happening in.
The thought of being late is something I will not entertain, so I pull Leon by his hand asking for directions and dodging large crowds of fans while looking for the field. By some miracle Leon spots a group of well dressed people heading out to the fields, we quickly catch up and ask if they were heading to the wedding as well. It took a few minutes to get it out of them given that they were so star struck by Leon, but they eventually agreed that they were in fact going to the same wedding we were.
We walked together, the small group gushing over Leon who laughs and nods along bashfully. I'm just thankful no one bothered to ask who I was or my relation to Leon. We arrive to the wedding on time, our seats being at the very front. It was a little strange given that the area is usually reserved for the families. As soon as sundown hits, I openly gasp at the light that hits the field, glittering like polished gold, like the way Leon's eyes sparkled when he's excited.
I pull myself away when I hear the tune of the piano, I turn around and smile as the bride makes her way down the aisle. Her dress is a soft cotton white and simple cut, but it's no were near boring with the way the gold of the field flutters against her and shines off her dress. My eyes follow her all the way to alter where the groom waits for her, tears welling up in his eyes. I watch with a small smile as he ever so gingerly lifts her veil, he openly sobs at the sight of her and it makes my chest burst with warmth. I watch silently as the officiant starts the ceremony, somewhere between vows Leon is in tears and his hand finds mine. I couldn't help the smile that grows onto my face, but I truly grin when I hear the 'I do's. Leon and I stood clapping as the two kissed, it was brief but as soon as they broke apart they went running down the aisle hand in hand.
We follow the other guests to the reception, Leon and I being placed near the bride and groom who spot us as soon as we sit down. They rushed over thanking us for our attendance, I had a mild panic attack when the two challenged Leon to a double battle. Leon had the good sense to gently turn them down saying this was a day of celebration not battling. That and I, his date, didn't bring her PokΓ©mon. Which was a lie but they didn't need to know that.
Instead Leon offered to say a few words, they agreed, a tad disappointed. So Leon stood at the front of the reception hall, microphone in hand, and began gushing about finding that one partner in life. It was sweet, far to cheesy for my taste, but the couple were in tears by the end of it. Leon sat back down with a sigh, I patted his thigh with a small smile, "A wonderful job Leon." I praise. Leon sent me a small smile as he tiredly leans against his chair, "Thank you for coming with me," he mumbles, "It's my pleasure." I giggle.
"Would you like me to grab you something to eat?" I offer, "You don't have to do that." He grunts sitting up. I pat his chest before standing, I make my way to the buffet where I fix him a good plate before picking up two flutes of champagne. I dodge a couple of girls dancing on the way back, Leon looking at me with soft eyes as I place the plate down in front of him with one of the flutes.
Leon mumbles a thank you before eating, I wonder if he ate today since I wasn't exactly there to make sure he did. I spent most of the day clearing the way to make room for the wedding and getting our outfits from the cleaners, I didn't exactly have time to make sure he ate. Somewhere between my thoughts my hand reaches up and brushes some hair out of his face, Leon stops chewing and leans into the touch. I giggle at his expression before pulling my hand away so he can focus on eating.
Leon finishes off his plate before standing, he offers his hand to me and I take it without hesitation. He pulls me from my seat and out to the dance floor, I smile as Leon starts to lead me in a slow waltz. He laces one of his hands with mine and keeps the other on my back while my free hand rests on top of his shoulder. "Who knew the Champion could dance?" I giggle quietly, Leon smiles down at me and twirls me, "Not many people can be as good as I am." He shrugs. I let out a playful scoff, but continued to smile.
I gently run my hand up from Leon's shoulder to the back of his neck, a smirk spreading across my lips. Leon stares down at me, the hand on my back slowly sinks down to my lower back. "May we cut in?" A voice chimes, My eyes shoot over to the bride and groom who smile at us, "Of course." I smile flawlessly. I break away from Leon, to which the bride takes my place. The groom steps over to me and places his hand in mine while the other is placed between my shoulder blades.
"I hope you're having a wonderful time, I can only imagine how often the Champion of Galar can have a little fun like this." He chuckles, "Well you'll be pleased to know we are. We're both extremely happy to be here for such a thing, I believe this is Leon's first wedding so you can have bragging rights to that," I joke. The Groom grins and lets out a small laugh, "I'm sure my new wife will be ecstatic to tell all her friends." He chuckles, "Perhaps we will have the honor to attend your own wedding." He muses with a coy smile. My cheeks flush at the thought of marrying Leon, I never thought of marrying anyone, let alone someone like Leon. But then again, Leon has been causing me to think of things I've never even dreamed of imagining.
"If it ever happens you'll be the first we invite." I smile, and just before he could answer the song ends. The man thanks me one last time before moving back over to his new wife, I watch her gush over the fact she to got the dance with Leon. The Groom pouts slightly but she smiles and kisses him softly, they whisper to one another before agreeing to something. I can only assume it might have to do with things that'll happen after everyone leaves.
I jump feeling a hand press to my back, Leon chuckles at the reaction. "Did you get asked about being invited to our wedding too?" He muses, "Yep," I pop with a small smile. "And what did you say?" He questions, "That if it ever happened." I pause, turning to face him, "They would be the first we invite." I smirk. Leon's smiles at the answer, but before he could reply the new couple announced cake.
Leon jumps at the opportunity, I politely decline when he offers me a plate. Instead I occupy myself with a glass of champagne and some cheese squares. I watch Leon chow down on some cake, however the bride comes rushing over and pulls me to the dance floor. Leon jumps in alarm with cake still stuffed in his mouth, other girls are then dragged to the floor before the bride stands at the front. It clicks when she turns her back to us, I let out a sigh.
The bride swings her arms back twice the boutique of flowers clutched in her hands, on the third swing she lets go. I turn away and take a long sip of champagne, however in some form of spite from fate the boutique knocks me on the back of my head. I grunt over my champagne as screams erupt from behind me, I turn and find the bundle of flowers at my feet. "GRAB IT!" The bride screams, waving her arms. My eyes go wide and I quickly do as she says, narrowly avoiding the horde of women charging at me for the bundle.
The hall cheers for me as I clutch the flowers, I stand there blankly staring at the flowers in my hand, until I knock back the rest of my champagne. I make my way back to the table where Leon sits doubled over wheezing in laughter. "I think it's time we go home." I grumble, Leon looks up at me, tears pricking his eyes. "Sure." He wheezes, I scoff and roll my eyes before standing. I thank the bride and groom for a wonderful time and excuse us for the rest of the night. I leave Leon fumbling after me as I call a flying taxi to pick us up. The thought of leaving Leon here crosses my mind, but I'd prefer not to get fired.
