My heels clack against the marble floor of the Wyndon stadium, Leon, nowhere to be found. Thankfully, he promised he wouldn't leave the stadium without me, so I know he's here somewhere. One would think looking for Leon would be easy, however, it is not. The man sticks out like a sore thumb with his purple hair and outlandish outfit, but no, the man somehow just slips right by.
I finally decided to look near the battling ground, it's still under reconstruction since Leon's last battle, which nearly blew out the entire stadium. I walk and scan the stadium searching for the purple of his hair or the red of his cape. However I didn't find either, just as I turn to leave a boom echoes through the stadium and the ground shakes. I hold on to the rails to stabilize myself while I turn my head to look at the cause of the commotion. I nearly scream at the sight of a giant Excadrill that stands in the middle of the battlefield. I let go of the railing and rushed through the stands, but a blast of air knocks me onto the battlefield. Panic spears down my spine as I look up only to see the Excadrill looking right down at me.
"Leon!" I call with no hesitation or shame, I jump to my feet, only for my heels to sink into the grass. Fear takes me by the throat, "LEON!" I scream, kicking off my heels and making a run for it. The Excadrill's thumping footsteps follow after me, the booming sound filling my ears and fueling my panic as each step makes the ground shake which in turn makes me stumble as I try to run for my life. I'm almost to the field exit when the giant PokΓ©mon stomps harshly, the shock wave of it knocks me to the ground again. I twist around and damn near cry when I see the PokΓ©mon all but looming over me. That is until I see a giant wave of fire hit it in the face, "(Y/N)!" Leon calls down from his Charizard. I gasp at the sight but it doesn't last long as the Excadrill's foot lifts just over my body, the urge to puke washes through me. "leeONN!" I stretch out as the PokΓ©mon foot gets closer and closer to the ground which means closer and closer to crushing me. The fear that holds my throat squeezes, and my vision edges with black.
The air is knocked out of me as I feel myself being swept up, but I have no complaints since the alternative was being squashed. I cling to Leon as he flies us over the PokΓ©mon, the sound of my heart beating so loud it makes my ears ring, Leon lands us on the other side of the field before hopping off. He then lifts me off his fire PokΓ©mon, however as soon as he lets go and turns to face the PokΓ©mon I sink to my knees. Impending doom suffocating any possible logical thought I can think of, the picture of that foot looming over me ready to drop forever burned in my mind.
I barely register the blast of fire that wafts over me, I look up as Leon's purple hair flies in every other direction. His cape flutters behind him but he quickly yanks it off, glancing behind him he smiles, that crazy bastard smiles. "Hold onto this for me, yeah?" He grins handing over the cape, I don't get to answer before it's set in my hands and he's turning to face the monster before us.
All I see is great burning flames and the one on the back of Leon's jersey after that, I keep myself tucked into Leon's cape, like a child hiding under her blanket from the monsters in her closet. Nothing mattered outside my bundle, I didn't want it to matter, I didn't want to see it. I do my best to keep my breathing steady but it's hard hearing all the monstrous noises outside the red fabric.
I didn't hear it go quiet, I had sucked myself too deep into my head to notice. I was promptly yanked out when a hand touched my head, I pulled myself back into my senses to look up and I found Leon's golden eyes molten with worry. "You're crying." He whispers, wiping hisΒ thumb over my cheek, I suck in a breath only to hiccup instead. "What..." I whisper roughly, "What the fuck just happened?" I sob, Leon didn't answer. He just pulled me into his chest before one of his arms snakes under my knees and lifts me up, I don't object, too shell shocked and emotionally overwhelmed to question anything. I simply just curl into him and wait for him to put me back down.
Leon eventually got where he was going and ever so softly I was placed down, my tear filled vision clears and I find myself in the locker room. Leon squatted down in front of me, his Charizard hovering over him worriedly. "Are you hurt anywhere?" He questions, I shake my head, Leon nods silently. "I guess no one told you that most of the Gyms were built over huge Dynamax power spots, occasionally a PokΓ©mon will wander in and accidentally Gigamax and go on a rampage." He whispers softly. I sat there in shock, I blink a total of three times before it finally processed through my head. "No, No one fucking told me." I choked, tears globbing up and falling, "Hey, hey." He whispers, once again wiping my tears away. "I've got you. It's okay, I've got you. I've got you now, you're gonna be okay (y/n)." He soothes, Leon's Charizard lets out a worried whine nudging his snout into my cheek.
I hiccup and set my hand on Charizard's head, pressing my forehead into his briefly. "Fuck I should sue him, this wasn't mentioned in the contract of my employment." I babble running my hand through my messy hair. I grunt and rip it out of what is left of the style when my hand gets knotted up. "Easy, (y/n). I know you're angry, but do you really think suing The Chairman is a good idea?" He questions, "Arceus your right." I whimper, burying my head into my hands. "What makes me think I could win? What good would it do? Hell he'd probably make me into a whole fool!" I ramble, "I wouldn't let that happen, plus you're way too smart to go down like that." Leon soothes.
I look up at him, his golden eyes swirling with concern. At that moment nothing else mattered than those golden eyes, not my anger, not the fact I almost died, not even Chairman Fucking Rose. All that mattered was Leon, the man who saved me, comforted me, grounded me. Without so much as a single thought to it, I close my eyes and lean forward, I press my lips to his forehead before resting my forehead to his. My cheeks burn and I can't bring myself to open my eyes to see his. "Thank you, for saving me." I breathe softly, "For you?" He questions quietly, "Anything." he whispers.
I giggle softly as I feel Charizard push his snout against my cheek and wedges himself in between us. I finally opened my eyes and sent the fire PokΓ©mon a smile, "Thank you too Charizard." I muse. "I think you've earned some well deserved PokΓ©puffs don't you?" I question with a grin, I watch the PokΓ©mon preen with delight. "What an attention hog." Leon pouts, "Says the most popular person in Galar." I smirk in return.
