I curse to the PokΓ©mon god above, my arms holding a heavy paper bag of food and other supplies as my other knocks hurriedly on Leon's apartment door. I woke up this morning thinking it was going to be another hellish day only to be scolded by Miss Oleana, turns out Leon got himself sick. My guess? He finally crashed from stress and overexertion. We found out yesterday that the chairman is going to open up some exhibition matches between the gym leaders for some publicity. I saw the exact moment Leon's will snapped when Chairman Rose announced it at a Gym leader conference.
When the meeting ended I didn't even allow myself time to meet the other gym leaders before I was dragging Leon out of the room. The usually loud and cheery man was dead silent, the change had my soul squirming. I expected him to lash out, scream, yell, cry, not to continue on like nothing happened. As bad as it is for him to fall sick, it makes me feel better, knowing I don't have to feel like I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.
My thoughts are broken when Leon opens the door, face flushed and eyes droopy. His hair is a mess and he's wrapped up in a blanket, I press the back of my hand against his forehead and tisk when I feel the heat that scorches off of him. "Come on Leon, off to bed." I sigh, pushing him into the apartment, Leon lets out a gurgled hum and shuffles back to his bedroom as I close the door. I place the paper bag on the table, I look down the hallway to see Leon walk into his bedroom before looking over the room.
His kitchen is full of dirty dishes and take out boxes, clothes and other items tossed all over the living room and open dining room. I can only imagine what his bathroom and bedroom looks like, but I shutter at the thought of that damn closet. Licking my lips I let out a sigh, I rolled my neck and dug into my bag for my pokΓ©balls. I let Zarude, Ninetails, and Houndoom out of their balls.
"Alright guys, we have a lot of work ahead of us. Za and doom your on living room duty. Make sure you separate things and put away anything that belongs in the room, I'll take care of the rest when Tails and I finish the kitchen." I instruct. The PokΓ©mon lets out noises of agreement before walking off to their assigned areas. Ninetails and I posted ourselves in the kitchen for deep cleaning. I washed the dishes and dried them as Tails stood on a chair and put them away. When the dishes were done I cleaned off the surfaces before putting on a pot of berry and herbal soup, a clever mix of Galar and Kalos recipes, perfect for a sick day.
Once I had the soup started I moved on to a Kalos specialty, PokΓ©puffs, a little something for Leon's PokΓ©mon and mine. I mix the dough up in a bowl before dividing it up, a PokΓ©puff or two for all of Leon's different PokΓ©mon. However, I add my own little flare to the recipes, something that makes you really tell care was put into it. I dig out some rags and tossed one over each bowl to let it rise, before I swept and mopped the floor. Tails pushing a rag behind me to dry it off so no one slips, it was almost funny watching her put a slight hop to every push she made.
I grin at the sight of a clean kitchen, the flaring of my hard habits dying down a little. I let out a satisfied breath before moving onto the living room, my two other PokΓ©mon wandering the living space searching for anything that may need put away or sorted. Most of what the sort pile is clothing, thankfully. "Good job boys," I smile over to them, the two PokΓ©mon make proud noises before moving on to wander the apartment. I gather up the clothes in my hand and make my way down the hall. I know where the bathroom is and Leon's bedroom, hopefully this third door is the laundry room.
Upon opening the room I met with a messy, but functional laundry room. I felt my eyes twitch at the mess. I take three deep breaths before putting the clothes down and moving on to the bathroom. By whatever logic there was to Leon, the bathroom doesn't have a single garment in there. Not one shirt, not one pair of shorts, not even a sock. I shook off the odd feeling of resentment to the man and took out the cleaning supplies from under the sink.
I give the bathroom a good scrub down before going back to the kitchen. I wash my hands and check on the soup, the aroma fills the kitchen with a soothing fragrance, I can only imagine how it tastes. I check the dough too and decide to go ahead and bake them, so I pull out some baking pans and carefully craft small rounded clumps of dough. I set the oven and dig out a tray I know I washed as well as a bowl and spoon while I wait. I place the bowl on the tray then fill the bowl, I place it off to the side and pop the PokΓ©puffs into the oven before setting a timer. Carefully I take the tray to Leon's room, by some miracle of Arceus, the bedroom floor isn't all that messy. But I won't be fooled, I know what's inside his closet.
I draw myself from my flaring thoughts to Leon who rolls over in the bed, his Charizard watching me carefully. "Leon," I sing softly, the man looks over at me but it takes a minute to register, he must be more out of it than I thought. "I brought food, something to help you get better, sit up for me so you can eat it." I comfort as Leon sluggishly sits himself up with the help of his PokΓ©mon. I set the tray in his lap before watching him carefully as he takes his first bite. Once I know he can eat by himself I gather the clothes all over the floor, I step out the room but make sure to keep the door open as I walk across the hall to the laundry room. I toss the clothes into a pile before moving back to Leon's room.
"It's good, what is this?" He questions, his voice small and raw. "Berry herbal soup. A mix of Galar and Kalos recipes, it should get you back on your feet in no time." I chirp walking over to the closet. I pause, mentally preparing myself for what I'm about to expose myself to. With oneΒ deep breath I tear open the doors, the same mess as before when I had first seen it greets me.
I look back at Leon who busies himself by trying not to spill the soup as he eats it. I roll my shoulders and decide to just go for it, I sort through the clothes first, most of it clean because the man wears gym clothes daily and almost all of this is formal to semi-formal clothing. I make sure everything is on a hanger, and thank the PokΓ© god above I can see the floor now. Almost everything is wrinkled so when I tackle the laundry room I must hunt for an iron as well.
As I'm re-organizing my alarm goes off in the kitchen, I quickly hang up the shirt I'm holding before rushing to the kitchen. I pull out the PokΓ©puffs with a smile and as they cool I make up the frosting, as soon as I put on the finishing touch I hand one fire PokΓ©puff to Ninetails before sticking two on a plate. I take it into Leon's room where he seems all too shocked at the dessert. I put the plate on the bed in front of Charizard, "You made those?" He questions roughly. "Sure did, there's some for all your PokΓ©mon." I chime watching with a smile as Charizard sniffs the treat before taking a bite, a smug grin tugs on my lips when I hear the fire type purr at the taste. To my shock the normally aloof PokΓ©mon snuggles up against me with affection, "Your very welcome honey." I giggle rubbing my hand along his neck.
"You didn't have to do that." Leon mumbles, "No, but I wanted to. PokΓ©puffs are after all a Kalos specialty. Lot's of PokΓ© Pageants have bake offs during the competition so I got pretty good at making them. A talent I never really get to use outside of competitions." I shrug, Leon gave me a weak smile, one I return to my fullest ability. "Go ahead and finish up, you need to eat that as much as you can, the herbs and berries I used in it reduce fevers." I lecture, Leon nods his head obediently and goes back to eating his soup.
While Leon finished his soup I finished re-organizing his closet. I made sure Leon laid down to rest before I took Leon's empty bowl and Charizard's empty plate to the kitchen. I washed the dishes and put away the extra soup before handing my two other PokΓ©mon their well deserved PokΓ©puffs.
When my PokΓ©mon are fed I make my way to the laundry room, my very own version of a Gigamax PokΓ©mon. I shoveled my way in and began the excruciating process of sorting clothes. I separate the gym clothes, then normal clothes, then formal clothes before separating the whites from the blacks from the colored. I managed to find the Iron during my sorting so every time I put on a new load of laundry I'll slip into Leon's room and put away his newly washed clothes before Ironing away at his wrinkle filled closet.
I practically cry when I put the last load of laundry in the dryer because that means I get to do my favorite part. With the apartment clean of items, I take out Leon's barely used vacuum. I start in the living room and work my way from there, giggling every time I finish a room, until I reach Leon's room.
I open the door and Charizard looks up at me before laying his head back down on the bed. I smirk before turning on the vacuum and start rolling it across the carpet. Leon groans and tosses over in his bed, his golden eyes fall onto me as I vacuum his bedroom carpet. He doesn't say anything, only watches as I clean and make Charizard move around so I get under him. When I finally deem the room clean I shut off the vacuum and let out a long awaited fulfilled sigh.
"Okay," I hum with a nod looking over my work, "Zarude!" I call. The rogue monkey comes bounding in, Charizard watching him carefully. "Okay Za, use jungle healing." I command pointing at a very confused, very sick Leon. Za follows my orders and glowing vines pop from his back and gently wrap around Leon. I watch as Leon starts to glow, it only lasts a few seconds before Leon stops glowing and is placed back down on the bed. Charizard sniffed the man as Za's vines retracted back into him.
The previously confused, sick Leon looks at me, as he is now a very healthy, yet still very confused Leon. "Why didn't you do that when you first got here?" Leon yelps, sitting up feeling his head then his cheeks and chest, I shrug with an unbothered expression, "Then I wouldn't have an excuse to clean your apartment without you getting in the way." I hum. "Really? That's your reasoning?" He sputters, "Do you have any idea what it does to me every time I walk in here to see it get messier and messier?" I snap, throwing my hands up. "And I swear to Arceus Leon, if I come back and find it messy like that ever again Galar is going to be needing a new Champion." I huff.
"Now, while Jungle healing may have cured you, I highly suggest getting some rest. We have a busy day tomorrow and I've been cleaning all day, so I'm going to go home, get a shower, and sleep." I grunt. "PokΓ©puffs are in the oven, your soup is in the fridge, please get some rest." I instruct before leaving the room. Leon doesn't come after me as I gather up my PokΓ©mon and make a hasty exit. My mind is busy self sabotaging, as I curse at myself for doing wifey things when I'm not even on a girlfriend wage and somehow not even finding myself to be really all that mad about it.Β
