The Jaws of the golden one
Bella POV
I am so happy ! My cousin’s and siblings are finally here. They were the best. I mean, Percy was too guilty about my death, so much so that I almost felt bad for dying !
Now, I have 2 extremely overprotective siblings and an even more overprotective father. Hades was so happy to see me, he almost cried, but maintained his frosty outer exterior.
But, now, I have a problem. It was my graduation day, and I was still wearing my favourite old sweats. I had absolutely nothing to wear. I was really regretting not accepting my father’s offer to buy a few nice clothes (read: the whole shop).
But being to god of riches, he kind of goes a bit too far. The last time, Nico told me he bought a whole shop just for Nico, tailor fitted suits and blazers.
Unless I could find something better here I was going to graduate in my sweat pants
“Stupid, thieving, annoying vampire!” I growled.
She was leaning casually beside the open window as if she’d been there the whole time. She threw a flat, white box onto my bed. “I’m just passing through. I thought you might need something
to wear.”
I looked at the big package lying on top of my unsatisfying wardrobe and grimaced. Percy would have gone berserk, dragging me and Nico along with him.
Nico and I shared a strong distaste towards shopping, but Percy was a son of Aphrodite, so he didn’t mind it at all.
“Admit it,” Alice said. “I’m a lifesaver.” Thank the gods she found something, I do not wish to be stuck in a shopping mall with Percy.
I would very much rather be dragged along with Alice than to be with Percy.
“You’re a lifesaver,” I muttered. “Thanks.”
“Well, it’s nice to get something right for a change. You don’t know how irritating it is — missing things the way I have been. I feel so useless. So . . . normal.” She cringed in horror of the word.
“I can’t imagine how awful that must feel. Being normal? Ugh.” Well, I have been the most normal I can be, for a immortal daughter of Hades.
Well, I still am partially immortal. See, I didn’t have much powers over underworldly stuff, but ghosts would still bow and worship me.
She laughed. “Well, at least this makes up for missing your annoying thief — now I just have to figure out what I’m not seeing in Seattle.”
When she said the words that way — putting the two situations together in one sentence — right then it
clicked.
The elusive something that had been bothering me for days, the important connection that I froze in place.
Well, I have been in way worse situations before, but seriously, do not invoke the protective side of Nico Di Angelo and Percy Jackson.
“Aren’t you going to open it?” she asked. She sighed when I didn’t move immediately, and tugged the
top of the box off herself.
She pulled something out and held it up, but I couldn’t concentrate on what it
was, I was too worried of the paranoid brothers of mine.
“Pretty, don’t you think? I picked blue, because I know it’s Edward’s favourite on you.”
I wasn’t listening.
“It’s the same,” I whispered.
“What is?” she demanded. “You don’t have anything like this. For crying out loud, you only own one skirt!”
“No, Alice! Forget the clothes, listen!” I was panicking, ok, sure, my brothers were immortal gods, powerful.
But this was a whole other world of myths already.
“You don’t like it?” Alice’s face clouded with disappointment.
Ok, that did seem harsh, I better make it up to her somehow.
“Listen, Alice, don’t you see? It’s the same ! The one who broke in and stole my things, and the new
vampires in Seattle. They’re together! Oh gods! Percy and Nico, they are gonna....”
I couldn’t even bear to finish my sentence. Ok, I’ll admit, I was scared. Scared of the vampires, scared of Percy and Nico. And worse of all, scared of Edward.
The clothes slipped from her fingers and fell back into the box.
Alice focused now, her voice suddenly sharp. “Why do you think that?”
“Remember what Edward said? About someone using the holes in your vision to keep you from seeing the new-borns?
And then what you said before, about the timing being too perfect — how careful my thief was to make no contact, as if he knew you would see that. I think you were right, Alice, I think he did know. I think he was using those holes, too.
And what are the odds that two different people not only know enough about you to do that, but also decided to do it at exactly the same time?
No way. It’s one person. The same one. The one who is making the army is the one who stole my scent.”
Alice wasn’t accustomed to being taking by surprise. She froze, and was still for so long that I started
counting in my head as I waited.
She didn’t move for two minutes straight. Then her eyes refocused on
me.
“You’re right,” she said in a hollow tone. “Of course you’re right. And when you put it that way. . . .”
“Edward had it wrong,” I whispered.
“It was a test . . . to see if it would work. If he could get in and out
safely as long as he didn’t do anything you would be watching out for. Like trying to kill me. . . . And he
didn’t take my things to prove he’d found me. He stole my scent . . . so that others could find me.”
Ok, now I was pitying those poor new born vampires, anyone who knew Percy, knew he would never let anyone hurt the ones he loves.
And I just so happened to be on his “close family, protect at all costs” list. He let me die once, he gives never to let me die again.
Her eyes were wide with shock. I was right, and I could see that she knew it, too.
“Oh, no,” she mouthed.
I was through expecting my emotions to make sense anymore.
As I processed the fact that someone had created an army of vampires — the army that had gruesomely murdered dozens of people in Seattle — for the express purpose of destroying me, I felt a spasm of relief.
I felt important. Someone was actually working hard, just to get me. I wanted to laugh, it was like Percy and all his experiences with monsters, they all hated him.
Then, panic rushed in. Someone had killed dozens of people, in an aim to catch me.
“Well,” I whispered, “everyone can relax. Nobody’s trying to exterminate the Cullen’s after all.”
“If you think that one thing has changed, you’re absolutely wrong,” Alice said through her teeth.
“If someone wants one of us, they’re going to have to go through the rest of us to get to her.”
“Don’t forget my family.”
“Yes, Bella, I don’t think after what we witnessed this morning, any of us would forget” she said, shivering slightly.
“What did they do this morning ?” I asked sharply. Gods, please do not tell me they messed up....again.
The last time they already nearly killed a whole town of mortals. All because....Thalia ate fish.
“They short of had a fight. Nico was badly injured. Percy and Zoë won”
I heaved a sigh of relief, it’s only their daily sparring. Besides, Percy and Zoë always win.
Anyways, thank the gods they didn’t like, kill anything. Or blow stuff up. Or “accidentally” shoot Apollo. Or....well you get the idea.
Thud, thud— a fist hammered against my door.
“Aren’t you ready yet? We’re gonna be late!” Charlie complained, sounding edg Charlie hated
occasions about as much as I did. In his case, a lot of the problem was having to dress up.
Just like Ares... Percy, on the other hand, loved dressing up.
He doesn’t display much as Aphrodite’s son, but his Aphrodite side does pop up, once in a while.
“Almost. Give me a minute,” I said hoarsely.
He was quiet for half a second. “Are you crying?”
“No. I’m nervous. Go away.” It’s not every day you have gods and immortals at your graduation ceremony.
Immortals that love me, and unfortunately will ensure nothing goes wrong.
Even if it means slaughtering everyone.
I heard him clump down the stairs.
“I have to go,” Alice whispered.
“Why?”
“Edward is coming. If he hears this . . .”
“Go, go!” I urged immediately. Edward would go berserk when he knew. I couldn’t keep it from him for long, but maybe the graduation ceremony wasn’t the best time for his reaction.
I prayed that Percy followed his usual “ reading people’s minds without consent is rude” rule, since if he found out....let’s just say a disaster that would make Hurricane Katrina look tame is on its way.
“Put it on,” Alice commanded as she flitted out the window.
I did what she said, dressing in a daze.
At the moment, nothing mattered. I didn’t bother to look in the mirror, so I had no idea how Alice’s sweater and skirt ensemble worked. That didn’t matter, either.
I threw the ugly yellow polyester graduation robe over my arm and hurried down the stairs.
“You look nice,” Charlie said, already gruff with suppressed emotion. “Is that new?”
“Yeah,” I mumbled, trying to concentrate. “Alice gave it to me. Thanks.”
Edward arrived just a few minutes after his sister left. It wasn’t enough time for me to pull together a
calm façade.
But, since we were riding in the cruiser with Charlie, he never had a chance to ask me what was wrong.
Percy, Nico and the others were already at the venue, no doubt brimming with anticipation already.
Charlie had gotten stubborn last week when he’d learned that I was intending to ride with Edward to the graduation ceremony.
“Are you all right?” Edward whispered when he helped me from the front seat in the school parking lot.
“Nervous,” I answered, and it wasn’t even a lie. When Nico and the others found out, there would be my father to pay.
“You are so beautiful,” he said.
He looked like he wanted to say more, but Charlie, in an obvious maneuverer that he meant to be subtle, shrugged in between us and put his arm around my shoulders.
“Are you excited?” he asked me.
“Not really,” I admitted. The only thing I was excited for, was to hang out with my siblings again.
“Bella, this is a big deal. You’re graduating from high school. It’s the real world for you now. College. Living on your own. . . . You’re not my little girl anymore.” Charlie choked up a bit at the end.
“Dad,” I moaned. “Please don’t get all weepy on me.”
“Who’s weepy?” he growled. “Now, why aren’t you excited?”
“I don’t know, Dad. I guess it hasn’t hit yet or something.”
“It’s good that Alice is throwing this party. You need something to perk you up.”
“Sure. A party’s exactly what I need.” Though honestly, if you’ve seen a party on Olympus, no offense to Alice, but
Charlie laughed at my tone and squeezed my shoulders. Edward looked at the clouds, his face
thoughtful.
He had obviously understood my sarcasm. What can I say, it runs in the family.
My father had to leave us at the back door of the gym and go around to the main entrance with the rest of the parents.
It was pandemonium as Ms. Cope from the front office and Mr. Varner the math teacher tried to line
everyone up alphabetically.
“Up front, Mr. Cullen,” Mr. Varner barked at Edward.
“Hey, Bella!”
I looked up to see Jessica Stanley waving at me from the back of the line with a smile on her face.
Edward kissed me quickly, sighed, and went to go stand with the C’s. Alice wasn’t there.
What was she going to do? Skip graduation? What poor timing on my part. I should have waited to figure things out until after this was over with.
“Down here, Bella!” Jessica called again.
I walked down the line to take my place behind Jessica, mildly curious as to why she was suddenly so friendly.
As I got closer, I saw Angela five people back, watching Jessica with the same curiosity.
Jess was babbling before I was in earshot.
“. . . so amazing. I mean, it seems like we just met, and now we’re graduating together,” she gushed.
“Can you believe it’s over? I feel like screaming!”
“So do I,” I muttered, except my screaming would be for something else entirely.
She droned on and on, and I was sure the sudden return of our friendship was due to graduation nostalgia and gratitude for the party invite, not that I’d had anything to do with that.
I paid attention as well as I could while I shrugged into my robe. And I found that I was glad that things could end on a good note with Jessica.
Because it was an ending, no matter what Eric, the valedictorian, had to say about commencement
meaning “beginning” and all the rest of the trite nonsense.
Maybe more for me than for the rest, but we were all leaving something behind us today.
It went so quickly. I felt like I’d hit the fast forward button. Were we supposed to march quite that fast?
And then Eric was speed talking in his nervousness, the words and phrases running together so they didn’t make sense anymore.
Principal Greene started calling names, one after the other without a long enough pause between; the front row in the gymnasium was rushing to catch up.
Poor Ms. Cope was all thumbs as she tried to give the principal the right diploma to hand to the right student.
I watched as Alice, suddenly appearing, danced across the stage to take hers, a look of deep concentration on her face.
They stood out from the rest of the crowd, their beauty and grace otherworldly. I wondered how I’d ever fallen for their human farce.
But then again, no one knows about demigods, yet when you find out, you can’t ever get it out of your head. At least, you have someone to blame every time something goes wrong.
A couple of angels, standing there with wings intact, would be less conspicuous.
I heard Mr. Greene call my name and I rose from my chair, waiting for the line in front of me to move.
I was conscious of cheering in the back of the gym, and I looked around to see Jacob pulling Charlie to his
feet, both of them hooting in encouragement.
I saw Percy and gang all standing up, clapping and cheering for me. It was so loud, the only thing I could hear was Percy, Nico was cheering too, which I never expected him to do, after all he is extremely introverted.
I could just make out the top of Billy’s head beside Jake’s elbow. I saw Percy and Nico and the others, they stood out, literally, as they were a few of the tallest there. The only one I couldn’t see, was Thalia.
I managed to throw them an approximation of a smile.
Mr. Greene finished with the list of names, and then continued to hand out diplomas with a sheepish grin
as we filed past.
“Congratulations, Miss Stanley,” he mumbled as Jess took hers.
“Congratulations, Miss Swan,” he mumbled to me, pressing the diploma into my good hand.
“Thanks,” I murmured.
And that was it.
I went to stand next to Jessica with the assembled graduates. Jess was all red around the eyes, and she
kept blotting her face with the sleeve of her robe.
It took me a second to understand that she was crying.
Mr. Greene said something I didn’t hear, and everyone around me shouted and screamed.
Yellow hats rained down. I pulled mine off, too late, and just let it fall to the ground.
“Oh, Bella!” Jess blubbered over the sudden roar of conversation. “I can’t believe we’re done.”
“I can’t believe it’s all over,” I mumbled.
She threw her arms around my neck. “You have to promise we won’t lose touch.”
I hugged her back, feeling a little awkward as I dodged her request. “I’m so glad I know you, Jessica. It was a good two years.”
Percy approached me from behind, with Nico, Zoë, Thalia and Will. They came with all their godly grace. Percy was in a smart and sharp suit as were the rest of them.
Nico was in black, he had a sombre expression like he was at a funeral. Thalia was probably the most casual, in her usual punk outfit.
“Lauren!” Jessica squealed, waving over her head and pushing through the massed yellow gowns.
Families were beginning to converge, pressing my siblings and cousins together.
I caught sight of Angela and Ben, but they were surrounded by their families. I would congratulate them later.
I craned my head, looking for Alice.
“Congratulations,” Edward whispered in my ear, his arms winding around my waist.
His voice was subdued; he’d been in no hurry for me to reach this particular milestone. Percy eyed him warily, Nico however, was glaring at him.
Even if I couldn’t see his eyes, I felt like icicles were pressing into my back. Edward leaned back, straightened himself before continuing.
“Um, thanks.”
“You don’t look like you’re over the nerves yet,” he noted.
“Not quite yet.”
“What’s left to worry about? The party? It won’t be that horrible.”
“You’re probably right.”
“Who are you looking for?”
My searching wasn’t quite as subtle as I’d thought. “Alice — where is she?”
“She ran out as soon as she had her diploma.” His voice took on a new tone.
I looked up to see his confused expression as he stared toward the back door of the gym, and I made an impulse decision — the kind I really should think twice about, but rarely
did.
“Worrying about Alice?” I asked.
“Err . . .” He didn’t want to answer that.
“What was she thinking about, anyway? To keep you out, I mean.”
His eyes flashed down to my face, and narrowed in suspicion. Percy frowned.
“She was translating the Battle Hymn of the Republic into Arabic, actually. When she finished that, she moved on to Korean sign language.”
I laughed nervously. “I suppose that would keep her head busy enough.”
“You know what she’s hiding from me,” he accused.
“What are you hiding, Bella?” Percy and Nico’s voice sent chills down my spine.
Their voices were cold, calm but I could feel the chill. The temperature seemed to drop by 10 degrees and families around us shifted away.
I looked around. Charlie would be on his way through the crowd now.
“Knowing Alice,” I whispered in a rush, “she’ll probably try to keep this from you until after the party.”
“What are you talking about?” Nico asked, his voice even colder and gaining a sharp edge to it.
“Just stay calm, okay guys?” I aimed this sentence especially towards Nico and Percy.
They all nodded, but their glares certainly did not lessen. In hurried whispers I explained my reasoning to him. “I think you’re wrong about things coming at us from all sides. I think it’s mostly coming at us from one side . . .
and I think it’s coming at me, really. It’s all connected, it has to be. It’s just one person who’s messing with Alice’s visions. The stranger in my room was a test, to see if someone could get around her.
It’s got to be the same one who keeps changing his mind, and the new-borns, and stealing my clothes — all of it goes together. My scent is for them.”
“Hold up. Who went into your room?” Nico asked.
“And who’s coming for you ?” Percy asked. His deadly calm voice was unnerving, but I could see that under his
So, Edward and I had to explain everything, to the smallest detail.
The air started to smell like ozone, and I heard a familiar crackle of lighting.
I looked over the Thalia, to see bright blue lightning running up and down her arms. The shadows were starting to creep in too.
Great, I nearly forgot about my family. Percy’s eyebrows were twitching, his hands reaching for his scythe pendants. Thalia was literally giving off sparks.
Nico was drawing in all the shadows. Zoë was trying to even out her breathing. Trying. Will was fuming, as in actually fuming, he started to heat up, causing smoke to rise.
Percy had exited the room, causing us to run after him. Hey, can you blame us ? He is a primordial on a rampage. Anything can happen. He was in the woods near school, with....
With an uprooted tree in his hands, it was huge, around 30 feet long with a large bush? Of leaves. He was randomly swinging it around, his back facing us, barely missing the other trees around him.
Zoë stepped forward, “Let me handle this. Don’t worry.”
Zoë stepped forward, she managed to somehow avoid the large tree. She got to Percy, who turned around, and I gasped. His face was different, his skin paler, with a godly shine to it. He was glowing slightly and his eyes were pure gold.
His hair was flying all around and it seemed there was a strong wind pushing us back. His aura was a blood red and, he had a unreadable expression. It was scary, he was like a fallen angel.
Slowly, Zoë looked him straight in the eyes and had a mental conversation with him. Eventually, he calmed down, reverting back to his more “son of Poseidon” looks.
Now...Percy is trying to shove a tree back into Gaia. Great, the dryads probably hate him now. Oh well.
Percy walked over, his hands stuffed into his suit pockets. He looked over at us apologetically. Before disappearing with Zoë.
Percy POV
I appeared in my room on Olympus, Zoë right next to me.
“What happened there ? You were... really scary. You can’t lose control like that again.” Zoë whispered to me. She hugged me from the front, burying her face into my neck.
“Ok, let’s go back. I have to apologize.” I told her, while I was reluctant to leave my room, it was necessary, “Shall we, Milady ?”
We turned to mist, mist travelling back to Forks.
Line break
The day flew by and we were at the battle field. Waiting for the army to arrive.
Flashback
We were standing there, in the clearing with the Cullens, waiting for the pack to arrive. We were alerted of all the mishaps Bella suffered, the werewolves, the Vulturi, everything we needed to know.
We were going to take part in this feud, to defend out sister in all but blood. And nothing is going tk stop us.
Prepare yourselves — they’ve been holding out on us.” Edward murmured.
I was confused, but kept silent. Thalia on the other hand, decided not to.
“What do you mean?” Thalia demanded, just as Alice had started to open her mouth.
“Shh,” Edward cautioned, and stared past her into the darkness.
I could see clearly, well, it’s not really vision, it’s like what I can “see” underwater. It was already very good when I was a son of Hades, but being the Primordial of Shadows and Darkness had a great impact.
I could see or sense everything, I could tell how many blades of grass there were in the forest. Any part where there was shadows. Both Nico and I had this ability, very good for night time travels.
And if the part was not shadowed, I could sense the creatures using the moonlight. It was impossible to try to sneak up on me.
Of course, as a Son of Apollo, I could not do this, I don’t know why. Will had a very “diluted” ability, that manifested itself when he was turned immortal.
Bella, like she did not inherit her father’s powers, did not have this ability.
The Cullens’ informal circle suddenly widened out into a loose line with Jasper and Emmett at the spear
point.
Edward leaned forward next to Bella, I could tell that he wished he was standing beside them. At least he knows he needs to protect Bella.
“Damn,” Emmett muttered under his breath. “Did you ever see anything like it?”
“He should see our shadow pack.” Zoë mind messaged me (MM). Alpha and the others returned the other day, they however, could not report anything.
They found nothing. While it was disappointing, it was understandable as his companions were nothing more than pups.
They were young, brought out by the Alpha for training and experience.
Esme and Rosalie exchanged a wide-eyed glance.
“What is it?” Bella whispered quietly, “I can’t see.”
“The pack has grown,” Edward murmured.
I counted, one...two...ten. Wow. I was not expecting such a small pack. Honestly, Lycaon's pack is larger than this.
“Fascinating,” Edward murmured almost silently, but I was a hunter, and as a experienced hunter, I heard it. I could tell Thalia and Zoë did too.
Carlisle took a slow, deliberate step forward. It was a careful movement, designed to reassure. I had seen this before, Prometheus tried “reassuring” me during the Titan war.
“Welcome,” he greeted the wolves, they were tall, the size of a horse, with muscles and fur. They were certainly a formidable force, but I had more faith in my Shadow pack.
My Shadow wolves were larger than this. Alpha was around twice this size and the full friend wolves are around 1.5 times this size.
“Thank you,” Edward responded in a strange, flat tone, and I realized at once that the words came from
wolves, probably their leader. Samuel ? No, Sam.
I looked to the eyes shining in the centre of the line, the highest up, the tallest of them all. It was natural, the leader is the largest, the strongest. Capable of protecting his reign and his subordinates, his family.
Edward spoke again in the same detached voice, speaking their words. “We will watch and listen, but
no more. That is the most we can ask of our self-control.”
“That is more than enough,” Carlisle answered. “My son Jasper” — he gestured to where Jasper stood,
tensed and ready — “has experience in this area.
He will teach us how they fight, how they are to be
defeated. I’m sure you can apply this to your own hunting style.”
“They are different from you?” Edward asked for them.
Carlisle nodded. “They are all very new only months old to this life. Children, in a way. They will
have no skill or strategy, only brute strength.
Tonight their numbers stand at twenty. Ten for us, ten for you — it shouldn’t be difficult. The numbers may go down. The new ones fight amongst themselves.”
I nodded in approval, they had their strategy well though off. Our gang of 5 was a wild card, unpredictable and unforeseen.
A rumble passed down the shadowy line of wolves, a low growling mutter that somehow managed to
sound enthusiastic. Well, the hunters sound.
Like that when we go to Camp Half-blood. They are not happy, but are more than enthusiastic enough to crush the campers at capture the flag.
“We are willing to take more than our share, if necessary,” Edward translated, his tone less indifferent now.
Carlisle smiled. “We’ll see how it plays out.”
“Do you know when and how they’ll arrive?” They asked again.
“They’ll come across the mountains in four days, in the late morning. As they approach, Alice can interpret their path, and these beings here are excellent hunters.”
Soon, our pantheon and parents were introduced. The wolves seemed indifferent, but we could all tell, they were rather uneasy. With divine beings next to you, that could kill you where you stand, yes. I remember always feeling that way too.
“Thank you for the information. We will watch.”
With a sighing sound, the eyes sank closer to the ground one set at a time.
Jasper took a step into the empty space between the vampires and the wolves. Jasper threw a wary glance toward Edward, who nodded, and then Jasper turned his back to the werewolves. He sighed, clearly uncomfortable.
“Carlisle’s right.” Jasper spoke only to us; he seemed to be trying to ignore the audience behind him.
“They’ll fight like children. The two most important things you’ll need to remember are, first, don’t let
them get their arms around you and, second, don’t go for the obvious kill.
That’s all they’ll be prepared
for. As long as you come at them from the side and keep moving, they’ll be too confused to respond
effectively. Emmett?”
Easy enough, we’ve dealt with bratty demigods, Titans, giants, been and fought in wars. This should be cheese cake. We are all used to fighting with weapons anyways. So we understand the need for distance.
Emmett stepped out of the line with a huge smile.
Jasper backed toward the north end of the opening between the allied enemies. He waved Emmett
forward.
“Okay, Emmett first. He’s the best example of a new-born attack.” I chuckled, actually, if Emmet had a better battle strategy than to crush everything, brawn and brain work perfectly together.
Emmett’s eyes narrowed. “I’ll try not to break anything,” he muttered. He sounded just like the youngsters in the hunt, during their first archery lesson.
Usually it ends with a hunter with an arrow in her hair, or leg, or arm, or, you get the point.
Jasper grinned. “What I meant is that Emmett relies on his strength. He’s very straightforward about the
attack.
The new-borns won’t be trying anything subtle, either. Just go for the easy kill, Emmett.”
Jasper backed up a few more paces, his body tensing.
“Okay, Emmett — try to catch me.”
I couldn’t see Jasper anymore — he was a blur as Emmett charged him like a bear, grinning while
he snarled. Emmett was impossibly quick, too, but not like Jasper.
It looked like Jasper had no more substance than a ghost, trust me, I’ve been in the underworld before hung out with the souls, they have like, no substance. You pass right through them.
Any time it seemed Emmett’s big hands had him for sure, Emmett’s fingers clenched around nothing but the air.
Beside me, Zoë leaned forward intently, her eyes locked on the brawl. She didn’t appreciate males, but she appreciated a good fight. Especially if agility and speed was involved.
Then Emmett froze.
Jasper had him from behind, his teeth an inch from his throat.
Emmett cussed.
There was a muttered rumble of appreciation from the watching wolves.
Bella watched anxiously as he waved Alice forward.
“I know you worry about her,” Edward explained to Bella as she danced blithely into the ring. “I want to show you why that’s not necessary.”
Alice stood motionlessly, looking tiny as a doll after Emmett, smiling to herself, but I knew, size was not everything.
Zoë taught me that, the hard way. Jasper shifted forward, then slinked to her left.
Alice closed her eyes. Jasper stalked toward where Alice stood.
He sprang, I watched him fly across the space. Suddenly he was on the other side of Alice. She didn’t appear to have moved.
Jasper wheeled and launched himself at her again, only to land in a crouch behind her like the first time.
All the while Alice stood smiling with her eyes closed. I heard Zoë give a grunt of approval. I knew it was for Alice. Zoë never, I mean never compliments a man. Unless it’s me.
I watched Alice more carefully now. She was moving she took a small step forward at the exact second that Jasper’s body flew through the spot where she’d just been standing. I nodded, she was excellent at predicting attacks.
She took another step, while Jasper’s grasping hands whistled past where her waist had been.
Jasper closed in, and Alice began to move faster. She was dancing — spiralling and twisting and curling in on herself. I had seen the hunters do this before, it is truly a sight to behold.
Finally, Alice laughed. Out of nowhere she was perched on Jasper’s back, her lips at his neck.
“Gotcha,” she said, and kissed his throat.
Present (I am guessing what happened )
So here we are, waiting...
We haven’t gotten the alert from Alice yet, Bella was safely on the mountain, with Edward. And a wolf named Jacob Black.
Then we heard a bit of rustling. Will straightened, his eyes narrowed, he readjusted his grip on his bow and prepared an arrow. He had nocked a sonic arrow.
The same one Michael Yew used, in the battle of Manhattan.
“They are coming.” Alice alerted us. Everyone was prepared.
The 5 of us looked out of place here, they weren’t even prepared with weapons.
They were just standing in a position allowing them to charge quickly. The wolves nearby.
Zoë, Thalia and Will all had their bows out, one silver, dull silver and dull gold.
All nocked with arrows. Zoë's eyes were narrowed, as the Primordial of hunting she had some... interesting powers.
If she decided to hunt something, it would somehow be done. No matter how impossible. And these vampires just happened to be on the wrong side of her bow.
Nico was prepared. There were shadows that had been pulled toward him. His sword, Σκοτάδι was unsheathed.
His hair was hidden under a miniature replica of the Helm of Darkness. It radiated darkness and fear, you could barely see his eyes through the helm, but I could see them shine with determination.
I had my scythe out, Chrono, and my sword, Χιονοθύελλα φλοιός, they gleamed in the sun, shining brightly and beautifully.
And they came, rushing through the forest, 18 pairs of blood red eyes, 18 pale bodies, shining like diamonds under the sun. It would have been a magnificent sight, if they weren’t here to kill us.
Honestly, I wanted to scoff. This battle was ring compared to the giant war, or even the Titan war.
We rushed into battle, swinging out weapons, keeping an eye out for any of our allies. Nico swept in, slicing through a Vampire that was clinging onto Emmet.
Zoë and Thalia were shooting arrows at the enemy, while it didn’t kill them, it would slow them down enough for the Cullen’s or wolves to kill them.
Our weapons were “divine” and could penetrate their “impenetrable” skin.
WHEEE
Wills sonic arrow flew through the air, while it did not have the same effect it had on the monsters, it confused the vampires long enough for the wolves and the Cullen’s to strike a few if them down.
And then things went south. Real fast...
Thalia POV
"Positions!" Percy yelled.
"Lock shields!" He commanded, we may not be in phalanx formation, but we understood the command perfectly, 'up your defences.'
The battle raged on,Percy occasionally shouting commands, shoving off the enemy from our werewolf allies.
Percy was a whirlwind, somehow, he protected everyone, commanding us.
"Move!" He yelled at me, as he scythed down a vampire that was just about to hit me. Their fangs may be useless, but I can still be injured.
Suddenly, there was a gust of wind, and smoke. And there was a being standing there, in the middle, I could only see the silhouette, but it was indisputably male.
Tall and lanky, the hooded figure stepped out of the shroud of smoke. He was around 7 foot tall, dwarfing everyone around him.
He was dressed in a black outfit. Black combat boots, black pants , black shirt and a black Kevlar vest.
His cloak was black and grey with streaks of feel blue. His mouth was covered with a golden mask, actual pure shining gold metal. How he breathed ? I don’t know.
Across his back. A huge broad sword was strapped there. The blade was long, around 5 foot long, the handle itself was huge too. The blade was a matte black with twisting silver patterns.
It was strapped to his back with multiple leather straps, which were wrapped around the blade, acting as a sheath.
His arrival had ceased all fighting, but as soon as the shock of a foreign beings arrival dissipated, the battle continued.
I took a step back, just missing a backhand from a red eyed vampire. I took care of him quickly, apparently, they conducted electricity extremely well.
I kept my eyes on the strange golden masked guy. He had not moved since his first step.
Suddenly, he lunged forward, he unsheathed his sword quickly, for such a huge sword, he treated it like it was light. Across the blade, I saw the word, Σαγόνια, Jaws.
I felt an uneasy feeling. But I brushed it off.
Suddenly, Percy was pinned to the floor. The tall figure standing over him.
Then it hit me. The prophecy ! The Jaws of the golden one ! But I was too late...
With a swift movement, the mystery man plunged the broadsword into Percy’s chest.
