11: contrasting thoughts

     OKKOTSU EMBRACED ORIMOTO...

while chiyo was being tended to by maki. the green-haired girl tried to guide her friend out of the warehouse. however, chiyo was completely frozen.

not only was yūji and megumi sweeping the floor with the bullies' faces, but sukuna was punching the shit out of itō.

there was so much blood splurging out from his mouth and nose that chiyo was sure that he would need plastic surgery to fix...that.

"next time you wanna fight, don't involve others. I'll be more than happy to beat the shit out of you like I am doing right now", sukuna crackled, pinning itō onto the ground by roughly stepping on the boy's chest.

"say, should I light a cigarette and burn your forehead too? I mean, it's the least that I could do after what you've done to junpei", the older itadori threatened.

"I-I hope...I hope you get suspended, you bastard!", itō spat out, to which sukuna had switched his foot placement and pressed the sole of his shoe against the brown-haired boy's face.

"hm? what was that? I can't seem to hear you very well", sukuna mocked, repetitively stepping on the boy's head, as his hands resided cockily in his pockets.

"gambare, gambare~", he grinned, as with every tramp, itō had coughed out even more blood onto the nasty ground.

megumi sighed, as he sat on a pile of students that were with itō. meanwhile yuji was wiping his hands against his slightly dirtied shirt, the boy made his way towards sukuna — who was seemingly having a little too much fun.

"I think that's enough sukuna. now you're really going to get suspended", yūji calmly reminded.

"ah whatever, as long as I—"

sukuna immediately paused in his sentence as he noticed maki and chiyo watching intently in the corner of his vision.

'oh shit'.

"I thought I told grass-head over there to take aoki out of here", sukuna breathlessly uttered out, his gaze not leaving chiyo's worried expression.

the boy wasn't sure whether that was fear elicited from itō or fear evoked from him. after all, she did just witness him mercilessly beating the boy into a pulp with a condescending smile on his face.

'she must think I'm insane...or mad...or just overall a brute', sukuna thought, as his gaze unconventionally flickered towards megumi, who hopped off the pile of passed out students like a model.

'what the hell? how does he still look sane after fighting all those fuckers?!'

"are you okay?", megumi asked chiyo, to which the latter had just nodded.

'oh great. fushiguro and his charms', sukuna sarcastically muttered mentally.

"let's get you out of here before the teachers come", megumi persuaded, to which chiyo had casted sukuna one last glance, causing their eyes to meet for a split second.

'is he really her type??', sukuna wondered, raising a brow with genuine curiosity, as yūji texted kugisaki an update on the situation.

'oh my tengen!! he was...he was...he was so cool!!', chiyo internally fangirled, covering her face with both her hands, as she parted her pointer and second fingers in order to see the road.

maki slightly shook her head, as she knew exactly what was going on in the girl's head.

"chiyo, whatever you're thinking of, get it out of your head and focus. he might actually get suspended, and you need to act as a witness", maki reminded, to which the girl had determinedly nodded.

megumi observed, as chiyo explained to gojō and getō about what had happened.

"it's okay, chiyo-chan. your amazing sensei will take care of this", gojō smiled, patting the girl's head with reassurance, as him and getō made their way towards the warehouse.

much less to say, principal yaga was not pleased with the outcome of this school field trip, as he had to contact many parents and put their kids on a prolonged suspension.

"you got lucky", kugisaki stated, sighing a breath of relief, as the three who participated in the fight only had to serve detention for a week.

"we all did", megumi corrected.

"all thanks to gojō-sensei", yūji shrugged.

as the students all made their way back to the hotel, many rumors and theories about what had happened had already spread throughout the student body.

"chiyo-chan, are you okay?", orimoto asked, crawling onto their shared bed, as she curled up into a ball.

"a-ah, yeah...just..."

"concerned? why don't you text him?"

chiyo perked up at that comment.

"w-what do you mean, rika-chan?", the blonde second-year dryly chuckled.

"don't think that I didn't notice you staring at a particular itadori during their brawl. if you're really that worried, why not text him?", orimoto encouraged.

"I...yeah, thank you", chiyo sweetly smiled, as orimoto had just shrugged, heading to bed.

hey... :🐰

are you still awake?

🐯: Yeah.

'that was fast', chiyo sighed, nevertheless replying with the same amount of speed.

are you busy right now? :🐰

🐯: Not particularly.

Why?

could we meet up? :🐰

chiyo bit the bottom of her lip, as she anxiously awaited for sukuna's response. the speech bubble kept popping up and then disappearing.

     it was truly frustrating.

🐯: Sure.

Where and what time?

chiyo held her breath for a moment, as her moment of excitement was suddenly dismissed upon realizing that they had a curfew.

'should I sneak out? but what if I get in trouble...? what if I get sukuna in even more trouble??'

whilst the second-year was having an internal conflict with herself, sukuna was intensely staring at his phone, causing his brother to wonder what the hell was wrong with him.

upon receiving a new notification, sukuna had jumped out of bed and threw on a black hoodie.

"you going out?", yoshino questioned.

"yeah. I'll be back soon", sukuna replied, as he left his shared room and made his way towards the vending machine right outside the indoor pool provided by the hotel of course.

this was the first time chiyo had done anything against school rules.

anxiously clutching onto her phone, the second-year nearly shrieked as she felt a tap on her shoulder.

"shhh, it's just me", sukuna stated.

"o-oh, sorry!"

staring at chiyo's attire, sukuna made the girl wonder if she should've changed before she came.

'what if he thinks I'm too childish??'

'she's wearing teddy bear pjs...I want to snatch her and keep her in my pocket', sukuna impulsively thought with a neutral face.

"are...you going to sit?", chiyo softly asked, to which sukuna had nodded, sitting a few feet away from the second-year on the bench.

"so, what did you want to talk about?", sukuna questioned, causing chiyo to slightly tense up.

in hindsight, the girl probably could've just texted him, but a part (all) of her wanted to see him.

"umm...I-I was just wondering if you were okay...", chiyo muttered, "I mean, your hands...they looked a little bloodied earlier..."

sukuna took his hands out from the pocket of his hoodie, extending them out for chiyo to see.

"they're fine, nothing I haven't experienced before", sukuna casually brushed off, as he suddenly noticed chiyo holding something behind her back.

     "what's behind you?", he asked.

     "n-nothing, so—"

     "ah, getō-sensei".

snapping her head around, chiyo nearly fell into a heart attack, as she thought her and sukuna were caught. however, there was nobody behind her, just her shocked reflection and a grinning sukuna.

snatching the item from the second-year's hands, chiyo pouted as sukuna realized that it was just a box of bandaids.

but it wasn't just any bandaids. it was hello kitty ones.

"I-I brought them because I thought..."

chiyo couldn't even continue the rest of her sentence, as she was red from embarrassment.

'I should've stayed in my room. I shouldn't have invited him out. why did I think this was a good idea?? why did I—'

sukuna had then held the box out in front of the blonde second-year, as he rolled up his sleeves — showcasing his arms that had a few minor scars.

"well? go ahead", the pink-haired boy smirked, to which chiyo had unpackaged the bandaids and started to plaster them all over the boy's forearms.

her fingers grazed across sukuna's wounded skin with such gentleness that it made the first-year wonder if she was even really touching him.

"d-done", chiyo softly exhaled, for she couldn't help but smile at the cute hello kitty stickers smothered across sukuna's arms.

pulling his sleeves back down, sukuna had then dug around his pocket, pulling out a keychain for chiyo.

     "this is..."

"a bunny keychain. I won it at one of the stalls. if you don't want it, I'll throw it—"

"I do!", the second-year hastily responded, "thank you...sukuna..."

cupping the fluffy pink bunny, the blonde girl had made a mental note to attach it to her schoolbag once she arrived home.

'this is my first present from sukuna besides the lunches. I must keep it well!!'

sukuna simply observed, as he watched chiyo coddle the keychain.

'wish it was me'.

"anyways, it's getting late. we should head back since we're leaving early tomorrow", sukuna stated.

nodding in agreement, chiyo stood up and was about to go before the first-year had stopped her by plopping his hand on top of her head.

"were you scared?", he asked.

it took chiyo a moment to realize that sukuna was referring to the incident earlier today.

"yes", she honestly responded, "but then you and the others had showed up, so I wasn't afraid anymore..."

sukuna's hand seemed to have a mind of its own, as it dropped from the top of chiyo's head down towards her temples. his pointer finger brushed against a portion of her bangs, as he had snapped out of it upon realizing what he was doing.

retracting his hand, sukuna had cleared his throat and repeated his statement.

"it's getting late", he mumbled again.

"goodnight, sukuna. I-I'll see you tomorrow", chiyo squeaked out, before rushing off and leaving the boy to wallow in his own thoughts.

'great fucking job, sukuna. now you scared her off!'

chiyo clutched tightly onto the bunny keychain as she snuck back into her hotel room, softly panting.

her hand instantly went towards the side of her forehead, where sukuna had caressed.

'his hands...they were so warm and gentle...oh how I wish he'd do that again!!'
