Chapter Four

It's been a day since the attack. It is currently 8:15 at night.

And I can't stop thinking about him. The second I saw his face, I knew who I was up against.

Yet...I can't rat him out. At least not yet. I can promise that. The whole estate is a mess, as the remaining maids and butlers are trying to make up for those lost.

At one point, my father was whisked away by a group of people. Doctors, most likely.

"El? Helloooo? Anyone homeeee?" Keith waves a hand in front of my face, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Yes, sorry Keith. It's just...I guess I'm a little fazed that's all." I whisper to him.

"No worries. I get it. Battles can be scary. And when did you ever learn to wield a sword?" Kieth points a finger at me.

Oh God, I forgot about the rules. I wasn't allowed to pick up that sword but I did. The same sword that's still in my hand. I haven't let go of it since the fight. If the king were here, he'd kill me. Just because I used a sword to defend myself against arguably, the deadliest person in Valor.

"Lia...He called me Lia. What in the name of Valor could he mean? And who's Lia? I've never heard of her..." I want to get to the bottom of this whole thing. To be quite frank, I just want to know where my brother and mother are. I find it very suspicious that they were out this whole time. Someone must have informed them of the attack. They should be on their way home.

That is if they cared as much. Sometimes I feel like my father is married to his work, and that my mother is married to her closet. She loves her clothes to death. Unlike me. If she loved me at all, she would be here. And if Randall cared at all for his soon-to-be title of Grand Duke, he'd be here.

I guess they both could care less.

"El, come on. Let's go get you to your room. You've had enough excitement for one day. And drop the dang sword for god's sake," Keith is saying as he tries to swipe the sword out of my hand.

"No. I want to keep it," I hear myself say. If I were in the castle and I said that, the king would hang me. Regardless if I'm technically going to be his future daughter-in-law.

"Keep what?" A voice says from behind.

Oh lord. I prayed this wouldn't happen. Why is he here of all places. And how did he get here so fast. At that moment I quickly handed Keith the sword, hoping the person behind me didn't see it.

"Come on darling, don't keep me waiting. What is it you want to keep so badly?" I can hear the smile in his voice. Without even looking I know it's a cocky one too.

I turn around and glare at the face the voice belongs too.

Julius Claymore, Prince of Valor.

...And probably the person I hate most in this game, aside from myself right now.

"Well?" He raises an eyebrow at me, waiting for my response.

"Chill man, she doesn't have to answer if she doesn't want to." Keith defends me.

"Oh? Look at that, Eleanore, your prince charming has come to the rescue," Julius says smirking.

Keith has the most disgusted look on his face. I honestly don't know who hates Julius more; me or Keith.

"Ugh, both of you cut it out would you? Keith, I thought you were taking me to my room?" I roll my eyes at the both of them before smiling at Keith.

"Darling, let me take you, after all, what's a prince to do when he can't escort his lady?" I wish I could punch that smile off his face.

I roll my eyes at him, and say to him, "I hate you," before taking his arm and walking in the direction of my room.

"Love you too, Ellie," he winks.

Keith just shrugged and walked away, looking for people to help out. I swear that boy is too kind.

Five awkward minutes of silence pass as we pass maids and butlers, running around trying to keep up on missing work from the day before.

"Why are you here, Julius?" I break the silence, not bothering to address the royal prince formally.

"First of all, it's Prince Julius to you, commoner, and second, I just wanted to see how my best friend was doing?" he shoots me a hurt look at the fact I addressed him informally. It wouldn't be the first.

"Get to the point before I punch you in the face." I say, trying to sound annoyed.

"Ugh, fine," he began sounding dramatic, like the drama queen he is. "Father wanted me to come here and hang around for a little. Something about him and mother going through a rough time. If they split, I'd be the laughing stock of the kingdom, and my mother will have everything she bought while she was queen taken from her. She'd go back to being a plain old noble; like you." He adds a note of snarkiness to the last word. "If I had known there was an attack of some sort, I would've come earlier to help."

Yeah, some attack. I totally may or may not have met the man who could kill any one of us at any given point in the future. To be honest, I wouldn't really mind it if he killed Julius first.

"Anyways," he starts as if he totally didn't just start telling me something deep. "Where is my best friend, Sir Randall of Woman-landia? I haven't seen him anywhere," He uses his free hand that isn't occupying my arm, as a telescope, acting as if trying to find my brother. If I didn't hate him so much, that would've made me laugh.

"Out," I say with no context. Randall is most likely out with a girl, but I don't tell him that.

"Out?" Julius questions. "What do you mean 'out'?" He squints at me.

"He's just out. Don't know when he'll be back though. He comes home at random times. Plus, he was with mother at our summer house in Southern Valor for a few days. In need of a vacation, I guess. All that skirt-chasing has finally got to him." I force a laugh.

The capture targets in this game could really use some better personalities. Randall's the womanizer, Julius is the bad boy; and Jade, Julius' other best friend is a giant know-it-all.

They need glow ups. Along with a massive personality change.

"Yes, very funny." Julius says, unenthusiastically.

"Anyways, here we are," I say as we come to a halt at my bedroom door.

"Right," Julius says as he lets go of my arm. "Goodnight Eleanore."

I open the door to my room, pausing before I close it all the way.

"Goodnight, Your Highness," I bow before closing the door, leaving him in front of it.

***

Hey y'all.

I know this chapter may seem weird. I don't know- seemed a bit weird to me, but that's just what I ended up writing. So bear with me, please.

Anyways, YAY! Eleanore has finally talked to a guy other than her father or her best friend! Even if she may hate him...

Hope you like this chapter of Legends and Treason!

(Please let me know if there are any errors in this chapter.)

Next update is coming soon :)
