Lilith

I stare in horror at the creature ripping into Rowan, long limbs, no eyes, wide mouth that breaks apart like petals. What in the Seven Kingdoms is that thing. There are more serrated teeth on it than in a tank full of white sharks.

Fire flickers at my hands and I fling them out watching as a line of white hot flames races through the forest towards the creature, knocking it off the poor boy. The creature screeches, turning towards me as I capture its attention. Mercifully, it pays Wednesday no mind choosing instead to focus its rage on me instead.

I don't bother playing nice, allowing my canines to flash out and claws extend as I lunge at the vile creature. Wednesday drops to the floor with a cry of shock and pain, but I pay her no mind as I jump on the creature's back.

We tangle across the floor, scraping and snarling as I claw at the creature's skin and try to avoid being hit. I can distantly hear Wednesday scream, calling Rowan or I's name but I don't pay attention since I'm currently being tossed around like a rag doll.

Claws and teeth are flashing everywhere and my body begins to itch and burn as flames alight around us, burning everything in its path. The creature screeches, roaring in pain as it's singed by my fire.

I wince at the sound, my ears burning as the noise ricochettes around my skull. I really need to learn how to dull down these senses, they're really getting in the way now. The creature rears its ugly head around, lunging at me through the bank of flames separating us.

A roar is ribbed from my lungs as claws dig into my side as I'm set crashing into Rowan who had only just stumbled to his feet. The next moments pass in a blur of pain, instinct taking over as I half shift and lunge at both Rowan and the creature. I think Rowan is stuck in its grasp, or maybe it's the other way around?

Either way were a mess of limbs, blood, teeth and fire. Rolling across the floor, no better than beasts scrapping as Rowan gets caught in the middle of the blow, burn marks marring his skin next the serrated cuts from the creature's teeth.

He's so dead.

I'm so dead.

We're absolutely fucked if the amount of blood I'm losing is any indication.

Wednesday's scream of worry echoes through the silence and I turn towards the sound through the hazy fog of my mind. She's hunched over me, the smell of salty tears permeating the air as she murmurs words I can't hear above my head.

I better not be dying.

I'll be so pissed if I am.

I'll never get to go on that date with Xavier.

Oh shot, Xav. He's going to be so pissed. At least I'll get a load of snuggles and hugs out of this. He'll no doubt be wanting to keep me coddled and safe until I've healed. Movement at my side has my thoughts coming back to the present as Wednesday shuffles around me, seemingly peering at something in the forest.

I hope the creature's not back because I can't go another round with that damn thing.

She's checking on Rowan.

I've gone insane. There is a voice in my head, and if I'm not dead then I must be losing my mind.

Do you want me to get Xavier?

Yes, yes weird little creature with the voice in my head. Xavier sounds like a great plan. I am to sound sarcastic but I come across terrified and desperate which is not a flattering tone. A floating mass of light, no bigger than my palm-

Absolutely not. I'm not going into the light.

Not searching for peace or whatever else the little flaming blob has in mind.

Not happening. I have a date and I have waited a whole damn year for this date and my patience is running thin. I'm living long enough to have a romantic moment in my life, thank you very much.

Mercifully the flaming hummingbird, fairy, spirit, god thing left. No doubt off to go hunt for some other unsuspecting sod's soul. Not mine though. I'm quite content here in the realm of the living.

Shuddering movement echoes in the ground and I register my sister moving away from me, racing through the forest and I try to stop the panic clawing at my throat.

Why is she leaving me?

I don't know how long I lay there, drifting in and out of consciousness but a different voice resounded over my head, two voices maybe? Lots of them. I don't know really, there's people and I'm just grateful not to be alone but-

Oh. Oh.

I know that scent.

Tears form at the corners of my eyes but they're hastily wiped away by the male hovering over me. Xavier. Thank god. I'm safe. I distantly register being bundled up in a soft material, being cradled against a chest before the world shifts to darkness.

Wednesday

The story has taken a dark turn, a lot more twisted and gnarled than I expected. I usually love a good hidden trick, a wrench in the plan like when the carousel mysteriously failed at my eighth birthday party. But I don't like this one.

Yips and barks echo through the forest, loud and startling in the blue and red lights as the police scan the forest for any sign of my sister and Rowan. If they find her and she's unharmed I'm going to kill her for causing me this much undue stress.

Unless someone has taken her... then I think it's a suitable opportunity to begin plotting murder. A little light torture never hurt anyone and if that's what it takes to find information on whoever took my sister - because she was taken, i'm sure of it - then so be it.

Though I think I'm enjoying the prospect of causing another suffering with the excuse of my sister's safety a little too much. She won't like having part of the blame. I should just out right say I want to torture someone to save her the guilt.

"We've been searching for hours, Sheriff." A deputy states from up ahead facing the sheriff who was less than keen to receive my summons when I returned to the carnival in search of help. "The dogs need a break. You think we missed something?"

A feeble excuse and yes. You missed my sister. Where is she, it's your job to find her so find her.

"I say we double back, sweep Collet Creek, and then call it a night." I can at least appreciate the Sheriff's work ethic if not his beliefs and morals. I don't bother hanging around, having seen enough of their feeble attempts to know it will no doubt result in failure.

I should head back to Nevermore. Whoever took my sister is long gone and those deputies have trampled the scene dozens of times. There's nothing here for me anymore. I may as well get a good night's rest and plead my case in the morning.

Though morning didn't bring me any luck.

"How could you miss a dead body and an injured girl." I question blankly as I walk through the school.

"'Cause they weren't there." The sheriff comments from his place at my side. "No footprints, no blood, no sign of a struggle. Nothing, nada."

I can feel Weems' irritation behind me as she follows us. She's less pleased than I at the Sheriff's crass approach to the problem.

"We had the search party out all night."

"Well, your search party must have left their seeing-eye dogs at home." I snark, as we strid up the stairs with Weems taking the lead. "I saw that monster kill Rowan right in front me, Lilith sustained wounds that can't go untreated-"

I break off suddenly feeling a lump in my throat. My gaze dart around in panic. What the hell. Why am I-

"We'll find your sister." The sheriff states suddenly, looking at me with a different look in his eyes. "She can't have gotten far if she is as injured as you say."

I nod, clearing my throat as I try to regain my composure.

"Did you get a good look at this monster thing?" The Sheriff swiftly changes the subject and for once I am grateful for males and their inability to comprehend female emotions.

"It didn't exactly stick around for a chat." I bitterly comment in an attempt to regain my previous frostiness.

"Maybe it was one of your classmates, I hear your roommate - like your sister- has quite the set of claws on them-"

"Sheriff, I find that question offensive." Weems intervenes with a stern glare but I find his accusation somewhat soothing. My sister does have a set of claws, she proved so tonight. I just have to trust she can hold out a little longer till I find her.

"Well I don't care 'cause I've got bodies piling up across town." He gestures widely and I see the stress beginning to cloud his features. "Hikers just torn apart in the wood, a wolf's head-"

Fuck.

"The mayor said that was just a territory dispute between the local bears and a migrating wolf pack."

A dire wolf pack. One my sister slaughtered.

"Well the mayor and I disagree on that."

This isn't going to be a productive meeting.

A/N: So I changed the monster to something else (i.e. not the Hyde)

I'm mixing up the plot a bit so has anyone got suggestions they would like to see played out now there's a different monster and less Hyde/Tyler drama.
