Lilith

"How are you so good at this?" Tyler demands from beside me as I work on fixing the machinery. "You're not even using the instructions. I've never met a Nevermore student who got their hands dirty"

Ironic considering what I did last night. I think there's still blood and dirt under my fingernails.

"This is... kind of my thing." I wince a little at the confession before glancing at a curious Tyler. "Mechanics, robotics, cars, clocks... espresso machines. Fixing them and building them is what I do for a hobby."

"That is the most normie yet outcast hobby I have heard of someone having." Tyler laughs slightly and I huff out a laugh with him.

Tyler goes quiet for a moment, staring down at me with hesitant curiosity. "I'm not entirely sure of Outcast kustoms so I might be out of line but can I ask what- " He scrunches up his face in irritation. "I don't know the right word."

"Species?" I fill in. "We are all different species and then we too have ethnicities within those species. It's a biological difference so we use the same biology terms as humans do."

"Humans?" He makes a shocked noise and I giggle, nodding my head in agreement.

"We have human Outcasts, such as psychics, animal whispers, and then all the range of unknown outcasts within that. And then we would have the different species, which fit into the seven kingdoms." I take note of his slightly baffled expression so I go on to explain further. "Seven is the holy, or unholy, number depending on how you look at it. But it has significance to us, in the same superstitious way some people fear the number 13. The seven kingdoms are the main different Domains of species.

Thalassa is the Kingdom of the sea. Which includes Sirens and Mermaids, the sea dragons of myth Hydra, Scylla, shifters of water dwellers, elementals who control water and well, you get the picture." Tyler nods hesitantly, passing me a screwdriver when I indicate to him. "Kingdom Terata is home to the gorgons, and creatures of the land. Emphasis on creatures, they are the descendants of monsters and legends once feared by humans. They are considered more of a beast than human. Selene, named after the Greek moon goddess, is home to the werewolves who worship her power. That Kingdom also includes shifters, as in animal shifters of the land and skies."

I shift the espresso machine back into place before shooting Tyler a quick smile. "The Kingdom Kenos is home to the shadow dwellers such as vampires, necromancers and demons - though they are very rare. Plasmas represents the mages, magic wielders, physics and human dwellers with unique abilities. As in, dangerous unique. The final Kingdom was lost to time. Little is know of it except rumours and myths but the Kingdom I come from is called Dracona-"

"Like Drakes," Tyler demands in shock. "As in dragons."

I force a smile and finish up putting the panel back on the machine. Tyler is staring at me with a mixture of shock, apprehension and awe.

"What does your kingdom include then?" He quickly asks moving to the coffee machine and toying with the handles. "And- if I can ask, what does that make you."

"Dracona is strictly home to the dragons." Wednesday states and I flinch back having not noticed her presence before us.

"Jesus, are you trying to kill me?" Tyler snaps in a brief flash of irritation as he takes a steady breath.

"Not currently." My sister spares him a glance before turning back to me.

"You go to Nevermore." Tyler draws my sister's attention again and I see the curious look in her eyes. "I didn't realise they changed up the uniform."

"I need a quad over ice." Wednesday states, ignoring his comments before giving me a look. "It's an emergency."

I straighten up and scan the cafe for an empty booth. We'll need somewhere private to talk. Tyler stutters slightly, scanning the machine I've fixed in question when it makes some different noises than he's used to. I might have made some improvements.

"It's four shots of espresso." My sister supplements having misunderstood the boy's hesitance.

"Yeah, I... I know what a quad is," Tyler gives her an awkward smile and I slowly edge around him, taking the reusable cup from my bag and raiding the ice machine. I guess I'll just make my own drink then. "But, um, spoiler alert, the espresso machine is having a seizure and Lillian said she would fix it but the noises are-... so all we have is drip."

Wednesday raises her brows in what I know to be disgust despite her neutral expression. Both she and Tyler glance at the man pouring himself a cup of coffee.

"But drip is for people who hate themselves and know their lives have no real purpose or meaning." I almost feel bad for the man when he puts the mug back down but there's something off in the smell of the air that has me on edge. Maybe he's done something. It smells almost like rot so I don't think his job is anything that great. Tyler on the other hand looks appalled when he realises that the customer heard my sister's words. "And if Lillian said she fixed it, then she fixed it."

Tyler glances between us, looking shocked when I move to the machine for an espresso shot that comes out in perfect quality. The machine wasn't all that great beforehand so I tweaked it a little to stop a few of the problems. There were a few blockages in the pipes as well, nothing a few waves of blistering fire couldn't burn away.

"How- how did you fix it." Tyler gapes at me as I quickly swipe an extra pump of caramel for my services. "It's a temperamental beast with a mind of its own, not to mention the Italian instructions that you didn't use."

"My sister has a knack for sympathising with monsters and beasts. Though I have yet to see her successfully tame one." She shoots me a knowing look, reminiscing on all the times I would befriend an animal or rare creature and then attempt to teach it tricks. Unsuccessfully teach it tricks. Apparently my dragon lineage of being a creature myself meant I had their respect, not the ability to control them. "Considering she has fixed the machine for you, in return you can call us a taxi."

Tyler glances between us in confusion, taking in my white hair and Wednesday's onyx black with a frown, He shakes his head and just accepts the oddity and moves on

"Uh, no taxis in Jericho." He awkwardly states, staring at my sister in confusion at her forwardness. I drift around the counter with my ice caramel latte, quickly finding a window booth for my sister and I to sit. "Try Uber?"

I snort at Tyler's questions, imagining my sister's irritated face as the sound of the espresso machine hums to life.

"I don't have a phone. I refuse to be a slave to technology." Wednesday states and I swipe a local newspaper from an empty table. I might as well look for any information on this generic suburban town.

"Then you're out of luck." I hear Tyler answer. "Where are the two of you going anyway."

"That's on a need to know basis." I snigger at my sister's blunt repose, opening the newspaper on the headline.

"Have you tried trains?" I distantly register but my focus is solely on the headline.

Fuck.

Fuck. This is not good. I was out last night, I killed a wolf. At the very least if Weems finds out she will ask questions as to what happened. Not to mention Wednesday got rid of the Drekabani / Dramur Dreka hybrid plant so there's no evidence that I wasn't in control.

"You keep flooding the valve." I hear Wednesday tell Tyler as I swallow heavily, "I've seen it before. The valve is damaged because you are using this section of the machine wrong."

"What, you have one of these monsters at home?"

"Steam-powered guillotine. I built it when I was ten." With my help. Wednesday had no clue what she was doing and I relished the opportunity to bond with my new family. Wednesday was so irritated that she had to ask for- wait. Is she flirting with Tyler? Does she know that her words could be interpreted as a weird form of Nevermore bonding. "I wanted to decapitate my dolls more efficiently."

I take it back. Wednesday's not interested in Tyler but I most certainly am in his reaction to my sister's statement.

"Sure." He stutters awkwardly, nodding as he finishes up the drink. "Grim Reaper Barbie makes perfect sense."

He shoots me a confused look and I glare back, pointedly looking at my sister. I smirk when Tyler just nervously smiles at Wednesday and hands her the drink.

"I'm Tyler by the way, I didn't catch your name." he sounds so sweet, and desperate considering my Wednesday was about to walk away. "Or is that on a need-to-know basis too?"

I watch in fascination as my sister eyes the boy up and down, taking in his teasing flirts before finally answering.

"Wednesday" My shock at her answer must show on my face because Wednesday huffs when she sits down opposite me.

"What, I can be civil."

A/N: Tyler and Wednesday have finally met, are there any scenes between the two that you would like to see? headcannons, ideas, things not included in the series.
