COACH UKAI LIED...
"INTERHIGH PRELIMS ARE CANCELLED THIS YEAR?! WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY'RE CANCELLED?!", nishinoya yelled.
"YEAH!! THIS WAS OUR CHANCE TO SHOW OFF TO EVERYONE!!", tanaka agreed.
shiyumi could visibly see coach's confusion as well, though it seemed like he had already prepared a valid explanation, as in his hands were a set of papers.
"settle down, everyone! I've recently just received a letter, and I'm sure all the other teams did as well...", ukai started.
"a letter?", sugawara repeated.
"it's from the all-japan youth training camp coordinators", ukai stated, causing everyone around shiyumi to gasp, as the girl wondered what the deal was about.
"is that good or bad?", shiyumi whispered.
"the all-japan youth training camp is a big deal! they pick the best players each year and usually host a camp in december. so I don't know why there's a letter coming from them now", kageyama explained.
"w-what did they say?", sawamura asked, fully focused on their coach now.
"basically, they're trying this thing where they hone more talent for the future. so when they actually hold their annual training camp, there'll be better players and more competition", ukai informed.
"but unlike some other schools, we will be sending six people of our choosing — for them to go and experience, play with the top players and grow. it's also so that when they come back, they can bring forth what they learned at future competitions", ukai finished.
"how're we choosing which six should go?", ennoshita chikara — a second-year — questioned.
"six? isn't that perfect for our entire starting line-up to go then?", kinoshita asked.
"ah...right...that'd be the best for the team, huh?", yamaguchi quietly mumbled, as tsukishima momentarily glanced over at him.
"I think that we should send the four first-years and pick two second-years", sawamura spoke up, as everyone, even ukai and takeda, pertained a shocked expression.
"daichi..."
"third-years are bound to graduate, and I know for a fact that none of us are planning on becoming a professional volleyball player. we need to think further ahead, and the first-years and second-years are our future", captain explained.
"hence I believe that we should send in the first-years for them to gain experience and two second-years".
ukai carefully thought about what sawamura had said, as the rest of the teammates mumbled amongst themselves.
"what do the rest of you guys think?", ukai asked, wishing to gain a broader input.
"I believe that we should go with daichi-san's plan, coach", ennoshita proclaimed.
"yeah! I think we should also send in noya and tanaka as well, since they're on the starting line-up", narita added on.
nishinoya and tanaka started bawling.
"Y-YOU GUYS!!"
"WHAT THE HECK MAN!!"
"what's the big deal? I'd rather give up my spot for one of the senio—ACK!"
"quit thinking like that, tsukishima! we're counting on you guys to lead the team once we leave, so learn lots and be grateful!", sugawara reprimanded.
ukai then cracked a smile, as he was glad that the team has collectively decided on this.
"oh, and one more thing. we're only allowed to bring one manager, so—"
"KIYOKO-SAN!! PLEASE COME WITH US TO TOKYO!!", tanaka and nishinoya interrupted.
"SHUT IT, YOU TWO! COACH ISN'T DONE TALKING YET!", sawamura huffed.
"as I was saying, we could only bring one manager, so I was hoping you two would decide who you wished to send", ukai finished, looking over at both girls.
yachi flinched due to all the attention being on her, as shimizu had spoken up.
"yachi-san should go. it'll be a good experience for her to grow as a manager. I'll stay here with the other half of the team", shimizu stated.
"e-eh?! are you sure, kiyoko-san?! you want me to go?", yachi asked.
"I know you'll take great care of them", shimizu smiled.
"h-hai!!"
"great! other than that, I have no more announcements, so you're all free to go home now!", ukai declared, releasing them all.
"ah, wait, wait, wait!!", takeda stopped.
"here are the forms that your parents have to sign in order for you to go to the camp in june. it'll be two weeks long, so you won't exactly have a summer break", the brown-haired man explained.
"but also, make sure to keep your grades up, or else we'll have some issues".
tanaka and nishinoya paused.
"g-good grades? like...p-passing?"
"what grade is...passing??"
"how bad are your grades?", ennoshita managed to choke out.
"I think we should just give up our place", tanaka stated.
kageyama then snapped around, as he begrudgingly yet intensely stared at shiyumi.
"b-b-boke....I-I heard that you were kinda good at s-school..."
shiyumi raised a brow, confused.
"did you want my hel—"
"THAT'S NOT WHAT I'M SAYING!! UGH, NEVER MIND! BOKE HINATA!"
shiyumi let out a loud, "huhhh???", as she shook her head and started heading towards the hospital to see shōyō.

"huh? what's this? is this a field trip for the volleyball team that you're managing?", madoka — yachi's mom — asked.
"o-oh! it's not really like a field trip...it's more like a camp! I'll be managing half of the team meanwhile they train with some of the top players!", yachi explained.
"that's fine and all, but joining passionate people when you aren't going to give it your all is the rudest thing you could do", madoka replied.
"I-I will give it my all! I'll be a manager that the karasuno team will be proud to have!", yachi determinedly exclaimed.
madoka studied her daughter for a bit, before humming and signing the permission slip.
"very well. alert me before you leave for your trip then", the woman said, as she left for work.
yachi peeked over at the signed paper, holding in her squeal for joy.
"I've gotta text yumi about this!!"
shiyumi skimmed over the text that yachi had sent over, hastily replying, as she had planned to ask her mother to sign her slip as well.
"hey mom?!"
"in the kitchen!!", ikumi answered, as natsu watched shiyumi rush past her.
"mom, so there's this camp in june with the BEST volleyball players from all over japan. I got selected by my teammates to go. hitoka will be there too!", shiyumi hurriedly expounded.
ikumi thoroughly read through the paper, hesitant.
"yumi...I don't think you should go", ikumi honestly said.
shiyumi's smile suddenly dropped, as natsu pressed her back against the wall, eavesdropping.
"why?"
"yumi, you're going to be rooming with all boys for two weeks in tokyo! I don't think that's very—"
"but hitoka will be there! and I promise you that they won't find out!! I've been keeping my identity safe really well!!", shiyumi attempted to persuade.
"yumi, there comes a point where you should just stop. are you seriously going to pretend to be shōyō for the next two years as well? you have to let go and live your own life! and plus, the fees...we can't afford them with shōyō's hospitalization right now...", ikumi shamefully mumbled.
"I think it's best you give the chance up to another one of your teammates".
ikumi then handed the paper back to shiyumi, who glared at the innocent ground.
"I refuse to give up. I refuse".
