Sakura
The cherry blossoms fell
Before winter's chill
A young girl sat nearby
Alone on a hill
Her name was Sakura, which meant 'cherry blossom'
She had many friends, which was awesome
But she wanted something, she was desperate
She wanted a boy, one that was restless
One that would sit with her and watch the spring sky
No matter how much time went by
But she had none
At this point, she would take anyone
She wondered why she was alive
While she waited for her dream boy to arrive
She sat outside, crying
Inside she was dying
To meet someone like her
And she didn't care, she didn't prefer
A certain looking boy over another one
As long as he didn't make fun
Of her or her likes
One winter day, as the ice
Conglomerated on the roads
Sakura went to her hill; she had loads
Of things to think about
And as she pondered, shivering because of the winter chill
She noticed someone else sitting on a nearby hill
Excited, she ran down the hill
Hoping that Providence had the goodwill
To give her a boy on this cold day
As she got closer, the person said, "Hey!"
Sakura said, "How was your day?"
The person smiled
He was a boy, and a handsome one
Sakura didn't want to stun
Him too much
So she started out talking
About her day, and walking
With him
She figured out that his life was as grim
As hers, and she felt bad for him
That he had to go through all that
She didn't want to sound like a brat
So she asked, "If you don't like what I say, scat."
"You seem to have a hard life.
It seems full of strife
If you rely on me
You will be happy
Oh, gosh, this is getting sappy."
The boy smiled
He was very beguiled
By Sakura and her beauty
He considered it his duty
To at least reject her kindly, with dignity
And he did so brilliantly
But then he saw the tears in her eyes
As she looked up to the gray skies
And he said to himself
"Don't tell yourself lies
Come on, with her, look up to the skies."
The boy looked up
And Sakura sighed
And then she cried
"Why doesn't anyone love me?
I wish I had died!"
The boy also cried
"Why are you so cruel to yourself
If I was you, I wouldn't kill myself
Over a foolish boy problem."
Sakura looked into his eyes
In them she could see no lies
A sudden sadness came over her
And, her vision a blur
Because of tears streaming down her face
She left the hill and went back to her place
The next night she returned
To see that the cherry trees were burned
Inside, her heart churned
With violence and sadness
And many things combined
She saw a note in the ashes
And who had signed
The note, no one but
The boy on the hill
Sakura shouted, "How dare he!"
As tears fell down her cheeks
She had no future
And she wondered when her heartbeats
Would halt, stop, and give up
And then she would slowly break up
Into ashes, like the cherry trees
The blossoms could never again have bees
Fly around them in the spring
They could never again make lovers sing
They were dead, gone
As Sakura wished to be
As she stood there, mired in her tears
There came a voice she wished she'd never heard in her ears
"Do you want to end up like that
You boy crazy brat?"
The boy from the hill was behind her
Throughout the air, the smell of myrrh
Floated around
"How could you burn those trees?" Sakura asked
The boy sighed, a breath passed
Through his blue trembling lips
As he murmured, "I'm sorry."
Thinking hard, Sakura bit
Her blue bottom lip
"Why did you burn them?" she asked
Many faces passed
By the two in the night
Some gave Sakura a fright
But she stayed, to work through her plight
Even though she would much rather be in flight
Across the sky
Glowing silver with stars
She wished she lived on Mars
Where she didn't have to think of boys
And her sobs didn't have to make noise
Because she'd never utter another one again
She prayed every night
"Please let me fly away."
But she got no reply
Not any day
The boy said
"I like you
Do you feel the same way
Tell me any day."
He turned to go
But Sakura told him no
"Stay with me
I love you."
The boy and Sakura smiled at each other
"I will love you like a brother," the boy promised
"I will love you like a mother," Sakura said, honest
They went together
To their hills; where they braved the winter chills
Together forever
