✧Wei Ying- Healing✧

A/N- This chapter is based around episode 10 (or 11, i cant remember exactly) when Wei Ying is thrown into the dungeon with the huge dog and has a pretty bad time there, except this time I'm going to put you into the story. So in this story you're a member of the Wen clan, but a nice one like Wen Ning or Wen Qing (the two sweet siblings.) Also that fanart is impeccable as usual.

EVER SINCE THAT Wei Wuxian boy was put in the dungeons, you could hear him screaming. It was seriously distracting, and hurt you to hear. From your friend Wen Qing, you had learned that Wei Wuxian was terrified of dogs from a past childhood experience, so you could tell that this torture was actually torturing him, and not just a playful game like Wen Chao usually played with his prisoners. You knew you shouldn't feel this way, but your heart went out for the poor young man. Facing your fear up close and personal is never fun, especially when your fear can hurt you physically and its hard for you to escape it.

You went to Wen Qing and asked for medicine to treat any wounds Wei Wuxian might have, but, to your surprise, she vehemently refused to give him any assistance. This confused you, since you knew that Wen Qing and Wei Wuxian were good friends. Why wouldn't she want to help her friend?

But then she showed you the wounds she had from Wen Ruohan punishing her, and you understood perfectly. If she helped, she or her brother would surely die at the hands of his foolish and cruel majesty. So she could do nothing to help, for fear of her life.

Wen Ning, however, was willing to help. He came to your room under cover of night and brought his sister's medicines with him. As soon as you saw him, you had second thoughts about sending him, but then he told you how much he liked Wei Wuxian and how he would gladly give his life for the young man, so you let him go with a warning to be careful and return to Wen Qing's room quickly. You also said that you would take the fall if she, or more seriously, Wen Ruohan, figured out that you had treated the wounds of a prisoner. He, in turn, also warned you to be careful and told you that you were noble and kind. Those words were unnecessary, you knew. He said them to motivate you, and he succeeded.

As soon as Wen Ning had disappeared down the hallway, you raced over to the dungeon, never looking back behind you, but always holding your head high and looking straight ahead, until you reached the thick door that blocked the way in to the room Wuxian was in. You slipped a key out from inside your sleeve and used it to unlock the door, then locked yourself in so that nobody would suspect that the door had been tampered with.

A pale, slender, trembling young man lay against the wall, his unkempt hair flopping against his face. He had blood staining his hands and his neck, and he had a wound in his chest. When he saw you, he gasped and pushed himself away, trying to go as fast as he could with his tied up arms and ankles. He ended up rolling over right onto the injured side of his chest and he began to sob.

"D-don't h-hurt m-me," he whimpered in a weak voice.

"I won't hurt you, Wei Wuxian. I'm here with medicine to treat you," you said.

That seemed to soothe him for the moment. He pushed himself over to you and gave you a big friendly smile.

But then the dog saw him moving, and charged forward at him. And he was back into stress mode.

"N-n-no! G-g-go away!" he cried out, choking on the dryness in his throat. He had crossed his arms over his face to block it from being injured, but if the dog attacked his wrists or upper arms, its sharp claws could sever an artery, so shoving his arms up to block his face was not the greatest idea.

The dog stopped right in front of him and scratched him lightly on the forearm, as if to taunt him. When he felt the dog's claws touch him, Wuxian screamed like an insane person and began to writhe on the ground.

You waited for the dog to leave, then you gently touched Wuxian's hurt arm. He shook a bit when you touched him, but when he realized it was you, he met your eyes once again and sighed deeply in relief.

"T-th-the dog... t-th-the..." he gasped.

"I know. He's scary, isn't he?"

Wuxian began to cry at hearing your tender voice and feeling your tender touch. It reminded him of his sister, Jiang Yanli. How he missed her! Her soft voice, soothing touches, and gentle manner could always comfort him in any dark situation. If only she was here to comfort him, to hold him, to bandage his wounds!

But you were here. And you were kind to him. Just like Jiang Yanli. Just like Shije.

"It's going to be alright, Wei Wuxian. You'll be released in the morning. Just show me your wounds, and you won't hurt anymore," you murmured gently. The more you saw of Wei Wuxian, the more you loved and wanted to protect him. You shyly pressed your hand over his, making his pale face blush slightly.

Wuxian pulled his hanfu open, revealing the scratch that was on his chest. The dog had attacked him very brutally, and his claws were very strong, so the cut was long and deep. You felt uneasy for a bit, seeing the blood covering the young man's bare chest, but then you snapped out of your uneasy feelings. You didn't have much time. You had to help him.

You dumped some painkilling herbs and some anxiety-soothing ones into his hand from the jar they were in and said, "Take these. They'll soothe your pain and fear."

He swallowed all of them as quickly as he could and thanked you for the help.

"Don't thank me until I'm done. This may hurt, but try not to cry out too loudly, alright?"

He nodded silently, and you began your treatment.

You took out a cloth and two jars, one which was filled with disinfectant salve, one with disinfectant liquid. You poured a little of the liquid onto the cloth, then spread the salve out on top of it.

"This is going to burn like hell," you told Wuxian in advance.

"I've already been through hell and back," Wuxian responded jokingly. "This won't hurt as much as that."

You raised an eyebrow at his confidence, but you applied the disinfectant without speaking.

"AH! IT HURTS! IT BURNS! SHIJE! LAN ZHAN! JIANG CHENG!"

"I told you it would hurt," you said. "But you didn't listen to me. And you screamed, so the guards are probably suspicious of something."

"N-no... I-I'm sorry... y-you..."

"Hush. Don't speak," you said, putting your hand over his mouth to shut him up. You heard the footsteps of a guard, and you pushed both yourself and Wuxian into the darkness, hiding from the guard's searching eyes.

"Hm," you heard the guard say, sounding confused. "I guess I was just hearing things."

When you heard his footsteps fade again, you pulled Wuxian and yourself back into the weak half-light and took out the needle and thread for the final step. When he saw the needle and thread, he began to panic once again, trembling and gasping.

"No! Y-you can't... i-it'll h-hurt... I-I'll cry... I-"

"Wuxian. I have to. Do you want to bleed out and be in pain for the rest of the week?" you snapped.

The harshness in your voice made Wuxian silent. He sat still and softly whispered, "Do it fast."

You put the string through the eye of the needle, then slid it directly into his skin.

"O-oh.. a-ah... i-it h-hurts..." he cried out softly, trying his best to not scream again.

"I know it hurts, Wuxian. I know. All the pain will be over soon, darling."

You didn't even notice you said darling. It must have been an impulse decision. You didn't have time to care either way. You had to sew up this wound. Luckily, you knew how to sew up wounds from watching Wen Qing do her work. It was much less challenging than sewing clothes or other things. You just had to go in and out, in and out, until you were done.

Wuxian wasn't crying. The only way you could tell that he was in pain was how hard he was biting down on his lip, and the pain in his eyes.

"Good job, Wuxian. You're doing very well," you murmured to him as you did the last stitch and cut the rest of the thread. "We're done now. I need to leave, before morning comes and Wen Chao checks on you. Will you be alright, my darling?"

That time, you realized you had said darling. You had said it deliberately that time, to show how much you loved Wei Wuxian and cared for him.

He noticed the diminutive, and smiled his beautiful big smile at you.

"I'm going to be perfect... Shije."

At hearing the title Shije, you smiled and gave the young man a peck on the cheek.

"I'm Wen Y/N," you said, making your introduction your farewell. "It's a pleasure to meet you... my dear brother."

With that, you collected all of the jars you had, bowed haphazardly with them nestled in your arms, and left Wei Wuxian alone in the dungeon.

Don't be afraid of the dog, you thought, as if your thoughts could reach him. Any wounds you get from him will heal.

"WEN Y/N!"

You looked up and saw Wen Qing running full speed at you, rage evident in her expression and her eyes.

But I'm not going to survive the wounds I get from Wen Qing right now...

A/N- I'm not feeling perfect but I'm good enough to write. And I was inspired, so...

I hate my stupid anxiety attacks right now, I hate my health, I hate myself. But I'm surviving, and I'm doing well, and you're reading my books and supporting me, and that's all I need to try to be happy, and to keep on going.

I love you guys so much. You're my reason to keep on writing, and writing makes me happy. So you're indirectly making me happy. I just wanted to let all of you guys know how awesome and beautiful/handsome you guys are.

I love you all.

-N.
